04 Hey, you have done too ye censure see wow cra Young, Way up America. It's time for the Adventures of White Men on W four C why dot com. West pomp Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host of the White Man. Tell you like I did well, wife right, I'll five or else I talk? I say, oh god, wow, white laugh Okay, after ride, I f whit tig. This is the pipe Man here on the Avengerers Pipe Man W four c Y Radio.
08 And I'm here with Mark from Fumingmouth. This is Pat from Fuming Mouth. This is Keith from Fumingmouth. Nice. I was really excited earlier because I was sitting back here and you know, when you're back here all day, you miss sets you want to catch, and I always want to catch the sets of bands I'm interviewing. And I got a front row seat because while you guys were playing, I was sitting back here hearing this song that I absolutely love for whom the Bell Tolls Like that caught my attention. I was in the middle of an interview and I heard that. I'm like, who's that And I'm like, oh, it's them. It's the best fucking band that welcomed to Rockville and here you are. What's going on? Nice?
56 What makes you pick that album and that song to cover of all songs? Well, we play for Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica and I think We're three piece is a really big song live when they played it back in like pat when do you think once that video you kind of like took from Cliff Burton? What year? I think that's like eighty six sixty seven. Yeah, And I think we decided to throw that in our set list when we were torn with Gwar. We thought it would just be you know, we tune also in C standard tuning, so it's a little thicker, it's a little bigger, and yeah, we thought it would be a good move and it was. Yeah, people liked it. I love it. I was at Metallica's first show ever, so when I hear for Whom the Bell Tolls by another band, I'm like comparing and I'm like, that's a badass version.
46 Thank you very much. So tell us a little bit about your set today at Rockville, like you played earlier on in the day. Were you absolutely shocked at what a great crowd at Danny Wimmer Festival gets for a band early in the day on Thursday. Yeah, it was sick. I didn't really know what to expect starting this set so early at twelve thirty. But as soon as the very first band ended, everybody over at the stage across from us, marched across the field and then came over to see how So it was really cool. A lot of people came out. Isn't that cool? Like you're standing there and you think nobody's gonna be there, and then you see like the whole festival, like marching over to your stage. I was looking down when nobody was there, and then I looked up and all of a sudden to see people. So that was cool. It kind of makes up for it being super fucking hot. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. I always wonder about that. I always talk to every band about that, like it's too hot just sitting here, but game out there and throwing everything you have. How do you not fucking pass out? I think adrenaline takes over and making sure you drink water. Oh yeah, that's the key. And then after there's set, it's like, oh fuck, I want to die now. Yeah, pretty much it's been like that the rest of the day, right. Yeah, but worth it, worth it, worth it. We're a death metal band and so we kind of have to feel like that just a little bit, just a little bit. So how come you're not playing like a cover of like The Exorcist by Possessed.
08 Well, we would definitely play a cover by Possessed anything from Seven Churches. And I think that's actually a really good idea. So maybe that's the next one. Well, yeah, I just gave you the idea. Yeah, no, that's a great idea. I'll tell you a story. I was at the first ever crossover show ever, like where punks and medals were in the same room, okay, And it was at this place called the Sun Valley Sportsman's Lodge. It was like an Elks lodge in La Okay, no security and the first time ever. Like back then, if you were a punk and you were at metal show, you got your ass kicked. If you were a long hair and you were at a punk show, you got your ass kick. Now we put all these people together with no security.
50 On the punk side, you had Suicidal before they crossed over, okay, yeah, before Pepper oh wow, Okay, the original old coc like Animosity era, yes, yeah, and then you had That's another cover I've always want to do for Fumeing Mouth was Animosity Conformity, do It do It? I think that would be really cool. That would be badass. Yeah, And then there was one other I can't remember. And then on the metal side there was this band Savage Grace, who I love them, but they just put out a new album after like thirty years. And then there was Dark Angel. Oh yeah, one of my all time favorites. And I got to see a Dark Angel when they reunited it Marylynd Deathfest Nice thirteen maybe it was, but it was awesome. The pit was crazy, oh yeah.
43 And then Possessed was the headliner of the metal side, and I can't even if I could paint a picture. Okay, imagine some of those album covers where you see where people are everywhere flying through the air. That's what this was. It was. It's like people were stage diving from the rafters, like as high as that ceiling there. Coreact and like they were just I remember that, just crossing through. Talk about crossover, they were just crossing over through the air. It was the most badass. Even when I interviewed coc both two separate interviews, Mike Dean and Woody on two separate ones. I'm like, you probably don't remember this, but my favorite experience of you is and I talked about that. I said, the first crossover show, and it immediately goes it was an Elk's Lodge, Wasn't That was fucking epic? And like for them to remember it, says, it's epic.
42 The bands will remember that, for sure. There's spand Harm's Way and I saw them in two thousand and ten at a place called Anchors Up. It was a record store basement, you know, kind of on the caliber of like Elk's Lodge kind of thing. Yeah, they say that, they say, that's like that show at that venue is like the bar for their shows. I know that's what my friend Bo says. So it's like, you know, bands will remember that. I know we remember that stuff too all the time. What's your bar? Probably today, Like there was a lot of there's a lot of people we played at Savannah, Georgia last night, and a lot of the people that came to that show and even played in some of the local bands that opened. They came and they were out moshing harder as fuck for us. So maybe I don't know maybe that mark is today here in Daytona's What do you think the next mark could be? What?
33 What? What you have on the horizon that you want to make your next mark? Sonic Temple, there's no other way. Next week, yeah, next week we want to do the same thing, and we want to just do it better and bigger and harder and that. Have you been to that venue? No? So that's another cool venue because it's it's like you're playing a fucking stadium. Yeah, okay, it's a festival, but it's in a stadium, so it will be epic. Now it's not playing at Daytona International Speedway. Is that fucking cool as shit? Or what? Yeah? Did you drive on the speedway? Oh? Yeah, definitely? Is that wild? Like I drove up on the wall. I was driving like three hundred I think if I can remember correctly, and yeah, I was like smoking a cigarette while doing it. I was like, damn, I can't believe I'm driving on the Daytona Freeway. I know, right, Yeah, I have my skateboard my jeep. Last year I asked the head of India Christy, and I'm like, well, I get in trouble and lose my media pass if I go and ride my skateboard up the wall. And she's like, I wouldn't do that. I'm like, okay, I won't tell you. Yeah, So what's your coolest story being a band to either YouTube? What do you think for me personally? Well, I guess Fuming Mouth played and we did a UK tour recently the band Celestial Sanctuary, and
03 the last date I believe was in Leeds in Norwich, Norwich, Norwich was the last date and I was wearing an original Napalm Death Harmon Corruption shirt. Yeah, this is a really cool story. And after we played, a guy came up to me and he was like, hey, I did the artwork for Napalm's Utopia Banished and he told me his name was Rob, but everyone calls him mid And it turned out it was Rob Middleton of Deviated Instinct and he, you know, legendary crustband. He had said that listening to us kind of got him back into listening to metal, so he came out to see us. Well, just coincidentally, I was wearing the Napalm Death shirt and he was like, Hey, that's that's you know, these are my guys, you know, as cool as shit. I said, that was really cool and it's I think that's one of the coolest things too, because we're out here playing this festival. But there's legends like that and like underground legends I know, like pro Fanatica are fans of Fuming Mouth and that's something I never expected. That's something I never expected. I love Harmony, Corruption, Utopia Banished, It's Napalm Death is incredible. And that was our first UK tour ever headlining. And that last date was at the city in this town called Norwich, and we sold it out and it was just like and uh and I don't think of a band like you playing in Norwich, like when I think of Norwich, Like, yeah, you don't think of that. Yeah, And it was sold out and it was it was fucking crazy. And then we got uh we got confirmed for Damnation Festival in UK
33 that night too, and it was just so fucking I know the dude that runs that festival really yeah. Yeah, yeah, we cannot wait to play Cradle Filter is headlining. Nice, Yeah, it's gonna be awesome. Yeah. So you know where you guys need to play too? Where hell Fest? Oh we've been We want to play Healthfest if anyone is hearing this, that can make that happen. Please, we want to play Healthfest. Our friends at High Command played and that fest is so cool. You know what's sick about that festival is that except for the main stage, there's every stage is a specific genre. So there's a death metal stage, and then the next stage in like the next tent is the black metal stage. So it's not even like they combine black and death together. Yeah, it's like you have one stage for death, one stage for black metal, one stage for hardcore, like, and then one stage for like normal metal. I'll say normal because it's everybody but death and and black metal, you know. And then you have the main stages. But that venue is like they bought the town for that for that festival, and it's like a little town you're in.
39 There's like twelve stages. There's like hidden stages. Yeah. I've watched some vlogs on YouTube are like just like fans just like walking around. It's the coolest thing. Yeah, I'll be there in June. And then they have this cool Lemmy statue. I've seen it in the vlog. Oh my god, it's so cool. And then check this out at night. We have all these fired. You think you're in hell, Like they have this fire going up. And the first time I did hell Fest, going to help one hundred and four degrees. Yeah, you are going to hell. First year I did that festival one hundred and four degrees fuck yeah. And then they were playing the cooler today. I know, rightly, I feel cool exactly one hundred. You know, we got a nice breeze here today.
24 I live in Florida. This is cool. This is winter weather right now. Like I got my my winter shorts on. You know, only have summer shorts and winter shorts. Yeah, do you know what the difference is? No, winter shorts are a little thicker and a little longer. Okay, okay. That used to be my bros thing. He never wore long pants ever, so he always used to do that. He passed away in September, but rest in peace. Yeah, thanks, I'm sorry. He's like my best friend since thirteen. We went to like at least one thousand shows together back in the eighties in the day that's bad we used to. We lived in l A. And when Metallic and Slayer left LA and went to the Bay Area, he used to fucking hitchhike to the Bay Area to go to shows in like the most iconic places and like see Possessed in those little fucking clubs in the Bay Area. It's like a five hour six hour drive, right la eight Damn it gets well maybe six but traffic.
22 Yeah it's long. Yeah, it's a long, but it was. And hitchhiking it's really long, like you start a few days before. Yeah, but worth it. Man, Like those shows in the Bay Area were just Oh my fucking god, They're the reason I'm here right now. I watch videos of them all the time. I think we all do, and like it's just cool. It's cool when a scene can like explode like that, you know, especially that one is just like yeah, just once once in a lifetime, once in a century, probably beyond lifetime at this time, at this point, you know exactly. Yeah. But that being said, it it makes for bands as great as you to be I to welcome to Rockville, because like now, there's so many death metal bands, so many black metal bands, you know, and they just didn't exist Becaussessed, was it then? I Mean we were all born all the Fumemouth was born in the nineties, so you know, we weren't even alive when that was like really picking up and all those records, all that footage, all that music, it's like what we listened to, Yeah, exactly, And for me it's like home movies. Yeah, I watched some of those fans. Where the fuck am I? Because I'm at that show? That's so cool?
35 Right? Yeah? Yeah, And so tell everybody how they can reach out to you guys on socials, on the web, buy your merch, check out your shows, all that good shit. Fumingmouth we're the only one. If you google Fumingmouth, you're gonna find us. Go to fumemouth dot com. That's where you can buy merge. We just put out a song called Daylight Again. It's got a b side called Timeless and they both come from this album just put out called Last Day of Sun. So go check all that out, Go listen to us and Pat you got anything to say? Yeah, catch us on tour. We'll be there. We'll be there soon. We'll be there soon. Keith, what do you gotta say? Yeah, we're gonna be out with August Burns Redder Than. We're playing Sonic Temple, So we hope to see everybody there. I got a story about August Burn's red too. Really yeah, so actually double story. The first one's real short. My grandson his first mash bit ever, August Burns Red.
28 I keep this is why I'm excited about this, this tour. I keep hearing stories from everyone, like little little things like that. My one friend Kyle back home, he books a lot of shows, a lot of good shows, BFW shows that go crazy. I think he booked Tsunami in Massachusetts. So the first time they came through, I know he booked Gulch and when they came through Massachusetts, and yeah, he just was chilling next to me. He's like, my first show was August Burn's Red, just like like it's just like word vomited out of his mouth. He was really hyped. So I always hear like good like first stories like that raris smash Fit. First show, that's awesome, that's what's all about. And this one you'll love too. This was an interview. Yeah, and so before the interview, a lot of times I'll say I didn't say it to you, guys, But a lot of times I'll say I'm not gonna ask you stupid questions like how did you get your band's name? Yeah, And they're like, well, you're fucking lucky, and they go, see that girl next to you. We just did an interview with her and she asked us what her band name is. And what we do when people ask us that is, we make up a different story every time, and we have a perfectly straight face when we say it. And so I got them to tell me the story on the air, and basically they said to her, well, you know, we got this dog when we were teenagers and my sister named it August, and we were outside partying in the street one day and we decided to be funny to light the dog on fire and watch it run down the street. Ergo, August burns red and they're like, we said with such a straight face, and you have to see the look of horror on her face. Damn. And they're like, dude, we make up stories
02 just like that, and worse, every interviewer that ever asked us that question, damn. So now you have some ammunition next time an interviewer asks you stupid questions, you could say something so fucking horrific like that and that will end them asking you stupid questions. You know what, no one has ever asked us what human mouth means? Really. Yeah. I think the only band I've ever talked to, like off the air, on the air that isn't like, fuck, everybody asked us how we got our band name? It's I think I think bands got punished for so hard for so long with like what does your band mean? That like interviewers stay away from the question now and newer bands like us don't get asked it. That's cool, yeah, yeah, because it is stupid. Who cares? Like I care?
48 Now there's some okay, didn't tell us h few mean mouth that's you know. It was me and just really slamming words together for like two or three months and really trying to come up with like the best name I possibly could, and I didn't really know what it meant to first, But now I can confidently say it's like having a fire in your belly and you know, just like the just the will to keep going, kind of like a furnace or anything like that, and she keeps burning and burning more and more, smoking, smoke and fumes come out of your mouth. So that's how I look at it. That's a pretty good story. I like that, you know that that's actually a reason somebody might want to ask you yeah, you know, so I think that's cool. There's some bands like them friends with their like, there really is no story. We were just fucking hanging out and that was the name we came up with. Yeah, but it is so hard for bands to come up with names nowadays, man like, because so many are taken. Yeah, you know, so the fact that you got a name that when people google you, that's all that shows up.
52 Yeah, you did a good job, because that's that's hard in and of itself, and it's really it's more from the artists side where I really think it expresses what few mouth is. Like fire I'm talking about. It's like sometimes it's really tiny inside you and you don't want to do anything. You want to curl up in a ball and life sucks. But then other times, you know, it's raging and you want to go crazy and it's kind of the ebb and flow. You know. Well, when you were telling the story, I was thinking about, you know, that does kind of spell the essence right there, imposed of just some name that somebody picked or had some other significance. Yeah, for sure, it does have significance to what your sound is, what your music is, and what you're doing so that's cool and as deliberate as it wasn't like it wasn't delivered. It wasn't like I want to find the name that you know, just really fills it all together. I wasn't like some I don't know jackass thinking like that.
45 I was just slamming letters. But as you know, the years have gone on, I think about it and yeah, yeah, mee mouth mey. While I was a teenager, I was like, well, this name sounds cool for our band. That's what we're gonna name it. And then I painted it on my guitar. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that sounds like. Hey, all band names. There's so many good band names and they call all different ways. We just toured with Gwar. I mean, I'm pretty sure the meaning is Gore right, Like that's like literally it like it's somebody like a monster from space going and that's the name, you know what I mean. And that's fucking beautiful. I love it. I love it well. I love you guys. You guys are badass, And thanks for being here at Rockville. Thanks for having us man. Nice talking to you. Hey, my pleasure. I hope to see a lot more of it. Thank you for listening. To the adventures of Fate Man on w for Cui Radio
