04 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. From four se Wow, wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four cy dot com. West pomp Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man. I relieve this is the pipe Man here on the Adventure's Pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with Lance with the band from Ashes to new Nice here at ros have to say with the band because we can't do the whole like from from Ashes to new I know, right, I know, I'm I'm glad you brought that up.

00 I didn't even think about that because, yeah, how would you do that? It? Trust me, we run into that issue almost every day. I make times have you actually done it and not thought of bad? Then like, oh we are, we are pros at it now we right, we don't. We hate to sound like we're correcting everybody, but like, it's trust me, it's so much easier to be like with the band. And then sometimes we see like bands are we'll be called Ashes to new I don't know if that's because it makes it easier on them to be like from Ashes to Newer. Thank you ordered thinking that it's part of a sentence, and the from is not part of the band name. From is definitely in the band name. There you go, So rock Lahoma. Have you ever played rock Lahoma before? So we were supposed to. I don't know if it was twenty twenty had been. I think we're on tour pod.

53 Okay, something happened. I honestly, like, if it's passed last week, I can't remember anything, right, So yeah, something happened to where like we just could not make it here, which was very unfortunate because today, honestly one of the best festival crowds badass right, Yeah? Is it this festival? Like I do all the festivals too, And there's something special about rock Klahoma. Yeah, Like no matter the size, like you can really gauge the energy of people, and when the crowd is into it, super into it, we get more into it, which right them even more into it. Like it's back and forth, and like, I promise you, this is probably one of the best ones. I love it. That's great. Also, there was a there was an abundance of crowdsurfers, but I saw a wacky inflatable arm flailing tube man not surfing. Nice. Yeah, that was a standout moment for me. See, it's those things I like to hear because like people, you know, forget all the other stupid things, but people love to hear the personal stuff like this, what effect I see you when you're up on stage and there it is. That's it.

02 I saw him. I saw him, big inflatable pickle walking around. Yeah, we did not see him. Yeah, that that was it for me. Okay, I'm like a pickle. We we saw wacky inflatable arm, flailing tube man. We saw Spider Man. Well, spider Man's at a lot of them, for sure. We saw Santa. That's he's a famous Santa. By way, He's at like all the Danny Wimmer festivals. Okay, okay, I didn't know if he's the same guy it is. Yeah, I have seen him before then because it was funny. I never saw him at this festival, but Danny Wimmer just took it over. And then I was over watching bush like up above, and I look across. I'm like, holy shit, Santa's here. But I see him at every festival that makes sense. And he's the crowdsurfing sand did you see him crowdsurfing?

50 That's why I saw it, Like like spider Man, inflatable arm flailing two Man, and Santa. Those are the three standouts. See, that's the only way to CrowdSurf. I think as the band, Like you remember those people that dress up in crowdsurface, right, because you know they're totally into it. Like you said, you feed off the energy. Have you heard about the campgrounds here? Oh no, enlighten me. Oh you think the energy is good out there? You should see the campgrounds. I have all the festivals. This is like the best camping festival. Like everybody makes it a big deal. Every camp site is like advertised by the people they like form Facebook pages and advertised to come to their camp site, show your boobs and get free shots or free beads. Just the biggest party there is.

42 Oh yeah, there's a strip club campsite. There's a bunch of people that like may almost like a you know when you go to a place where there's a bunch of clubs in one place. They do that with the camp sites too. So you're saying that we should stay here tonight, Oh you definitely should. Okay, my neighbor out there. I hardly ever like camp at the festivals, but I decide to hear every year because it's so fun. And my neighbor has a big school bus with they built a platform up top so and you could. Actually the other night, I was so tired from being doing interviews all day and stuff that halfway through God's Back I decided to go out to a campground. And first of all, it's the only campground where you can hear clear as day the music. I stood up on top of that, on top of that bus and watch God's Back, heard it like I was sitting right here, and it was like, well, this is cool. So out of every I'm interviewing, you know, do it? Out of everybody I've interviewed so far, who's your favorite here or anywhere? Let's go here in anywhere? Well, if it's gonna be here, I have to say you, because you're here right now. You so so we're gonna eliminate you out of the equation. Honestly, Bat Allison that played early yesterday who I'm at, I'm actually friends with her, But they they're just they were just so fun in the interview. It's fun when they're

13 your friends too, because then you can just like you really know what to say you're not say in fact, these guys here, hey, come over here. He just happened to ask me who was my favorite to interview here at Roklahoma. Now last year we've been them. They're even in death and see thank you, thank you. So you guys say fuck Sewn Nations. That's his name, and we all say fuck Shawn Nations, and then uh, somebody else in his band. His wife is the singer and bass player for who I said was this year Bat Allison? Awesome? So there it is awesome. You got you got any other interview questions for me? I like it better that way, like fuck Nations? Your favorite interview ever?

09 Ever? You know what? That one's kind of easy. Leonard Skinner and not because they're Leonard Skinnered, because you know, there's people that would have been my favorite based on my music taste and didn't turn out to be, but because they just had no clue they were Leonard Skinner. They were laughing the whole time, just having a good time. And I asked this one question. Sometimes it's like I'll ask either like one thing good or bad when you're like eighty years old, that you're going to tell people what would be And Rossington says, when we fucked the Spice girls. Backstage, He's like, oh wait, take that out, edit that out, so stuff like that. Okay, you know all right? I would ask you who you're least favorite is, but I feel like that's something we have to talk about.

03 We can't throw people under the bus and believe it. No, and I never would, but believe it or not, the least favorite is one of the once I was most excited about. It's always that way it meet your heroes. I'm telling you, it is kind of that way a lot of times. What else do you want? Though? I like this? Yeah? Right, it's always fun when I interview you, right. Have you heard our new record I have? Do you have a particular song that you like more than the rest? Can I tell you I remember right now by name? No, And I'll tell you why. I'm old school. I listen to albums and I just go on a journey and sometimes I don't even pay attention what song it is. I understand that completely. Hear what I'm saying. Do you listen to anything that would surprise your friends, like, you know, like a maybe a genre an artist is like not in your wheelhouse? That not really a guilty pleasure? I don't believe in guilty pleasures, but just something you enjoy. So yes, as a matter of fact, there's something that most people wouldn't know. But so I come from eighties metal and more of the thrash metal, like I was at Slayer's first show ever, Metallica's first show ever, and back then we were all gatekeepers.

18 There was ship you couldn't listen to, specially new wave. Okay, and then my you know, I was into punk too, and then my friend I found this album and he was hiding it for that reason. I'm like, what the fuck is this? What was it? And one of my favorite albums this day? Adam and the Ants Kings of the Wild Frontier. Okay, so go check it out because it wasn't like Adam Ant was later. It was punk, but it was new wave punk type of thing. Will I will check it. I've never heard it, yeah, so check it out. It's very if you've ever heard a man himself, it's very different, like it's old school beginning. What else would you like to know? Oh, man, I think that's I think that's all I got for you today. Oh that was see, that was easiest. That was easy. So what's your favorite festival ever to play? Oh? Man, hm, so far man? Do what do I say? The easy answer of Rock Oklahoma, just based on how awesome the crowd was. Well, don't know if it's true, but if you're lying about that part, today was special. It was awesome. Trying to think of stuff that we haven't done yet that like could could potentially be my favorite. I always like to think they're my favorite, because ones do you want to do that you haven't

48 done? You still have ones in Australia. Yeah, I was talking about Australian band yesterday and they were talking about one I can't forget. I can't remember the name on like Sonic Way or like sound Wave or something that it's still canceled, but maybe it's still going. Maybe that's the one. How about this? How about Fire too? Did you hear about that? I remember the Netflix special? So that dude got out of that dude got out of prison and he sold d I'm wasted, are you really? There's a last interview that I did. They had Moonshine and you're in Oklahoma now over here? Oh yeah, he's he's interviewing me. So yeah, that Fire two went on sale last week and sold out. I should you're not.

39 He got out of jail and he's I feel like this is a lie, but it has to be true. No, it's really, it's verified, like true. Can you can you believe that ship? Do they have artists or there's no way he could even get there's no line up. Yeah, he just sold out tickets with no lineup. The tickets sold out, they're sold out. That's how. That's how stupid people are, just to just say it. I don't want to be here anymore, right, so what why? You know, how does that happen? That's why when I saw that, was like, how has that happened? Like he's been at jail only eight months? Okay, you know, and it's like he has even paid the restitution for the last one. I do have an answer for you.

22 Give it one that I have not played. That would probably be my favorite. We were supposed to play it. It was twenty fifteen. We did download in England, we did Rockham Park in Germany. We were supposed to do rockham Ring, which is the huge right and there were a bunch of lightning strikes that day, so it got canceled. So we were supposed to that's gonna be my answer. I know it's gonna be my favorite. We're gonna get back there. My favorite for you to do would be hell Fest. I know I've heard that. Where exactly is It's brands? Have you and so you haven't played it? No, it's freaking insane. Of course I did. My first helfets was last year when they made up for COVID and had like three hundred and sixty bands two weekends. It was insane.

15 But they have twelve stages. They have they're like their own city, and they have a Slemmy statue and at night there's fire burning everywhere. I'm telling you, it's insane. Who was headlining the Metallica one night? Was headlining? Okay, trying to remember because I've always wanted to see them. You mentioned fire. I don't know. They weren't there last year, but they did have Halloween play which was kind of cool. And they have they have like this different genre stages so people don't have to like walk all over the place. So like there's this stage which is of course the main stages are mixed, but then they have this stage which is all punk. So like the Exploited played Discharge played Lincoln call it h on GBH played, and then you had the death metal stage, the black metal stage, like the just I think you just got me a great idea, let's hear it.

20 What if we took that idea, but we like even went even more broad. What if there was a festival where it was genre specific per stage, but it was like I'm talking like rock like this, yeah, you know, like death metal, all that stuff, but we actually went into like pop territory country. Yeah, I think so, I think you should. I don't think there's that's never happened. Well, some of the European festivals do really Yeah. Like I was talking Jacobe Shacks one time and he was like, yeah, I just played and I forget which festival was on the same stage with Earth Wind and Fire. Oh my oh wow. Right, so see they do do it? We need to learn it over here?

00 Yes, you know, but we had like a festival I went back in the eighties US Festival. It was four days. Each day was a different genre, so not everybody at the same time, but similar count I think it would be interesting to basically the opposite of gate keeping. It would be cool to introduce ourselves to things we wouldn't listen to thing with them. Maybe you know people that are into pop, you know, the Taylor Swift all that stuff, like, we don't know. Maybe if they actually experienced a metal show, they'd like, oh wow, this is actually really cool. It's true. I will tell you how. I know one hundred percent true because one year I had to cover Rockville and Fort Rock in the same week, and obviously I can't be there. So I had this girl that worked for me. She was a country girl, and I'm like, I want you to cover this metal festival. And she had never been to a rock show ever, and she was kind of like intimidated. You know, people that ever been to Medal they don't realize what family we are and all that, and like, listen, you could have the best timmy of your life.

07 You'll probably meet some dude, you'll make a bunch of new friends, and it won't be like those country shows that you go to where a bunch of rednecks are getting drunk and kicking the shit out of eachr That's exactly what I said. So she goes comes back on Monday, She's like, oh my god, you were right. I made all these cool friends. I t bag some guy and now he's my boyfriend, and I have this new favorite band. They're called Bring Me the Horizon. I'm like, yeah, I think I heard of them. That's awesome. So there it is. It is kind of like what you said, Like I think of the meme of where it shows like Cannibal Corpse's singer on stage and then like offstage it's just him with like stuffed animals and his Exactly. That's how this community is.

53 We're not as scary as you think. It's awesome. It's funny. Somebody else that's friend of mine, that's Anaris. We were talking about that and I'm like, he said, yeah, but we want to keep them thinking that because we don't want to. We're totally badass and scary all the time. Yeah, exactly. We don't want them invading and ruining it. Well, it's been a pleasure. I don't want to keep you longer because it's time for you to enjoy the festival. Thanks, thanks for having me, Thanks for coming to my interview. Yeah right, I love it. Ivan of five Finger Death Bunch, he's interviewed me before. I love when artists interviewed me. It's it's fun for you and it's fun for me because how many times do you get to do that? Yeah, it is true, like sometimes we get asked the same questions over and over, so it's always more interesting for me to get to know who who is interviewing me, so I interviewed them exactly. I love it cool. So thanks for being here at Roklahoma, and thanks for being on the Adventures pipe Man. Absolutely, thank you. What's up, guys. This is Lance with the band from Ashes to New You're listening to pipe Man on W four c Y Radio, DA. Sorry, thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pateman on W four CUI Radio.
