04 Hey, you have done to censure one. Wow crazy you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four c Y dot com. West Palm Beach is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. There's a list before your Weber River speaking. Give your head up, like, don't wait up now? What's it coming for you? What's your pink when most you have a foot? John Trump?
50 No, it is not just soup. This is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with this Nathan from Fox Lake and Zach Nice here at Aftershock. Yeah, oh my god, is just like the most amazing festival, especially this area. I don't think I need to leave this area. No, it's a this is actually shaded, so this is kind of all we need. Yeah, And then we got the chef over there cooking food. You got the open bar, you got the drip bar, and the stage is right there. What else do you need? Yeah? More? And what more could we want? Just a mashpit, that's all we had it. We had a huge one. Just now Nice tell me about that. I might hear about that.
34 Uh well, this is our third festival. In the last few months. We played Incarceration, we played Louder than Life, and we played after Shock today and this was easily the best set we've had and the yeah maybe ever. Really this was like one of the coolest sets we've ever played. And the moshpit, man, it was it was it was wild. Yeah. Man, there was a guy who came up and was fighting secure already all the way up, try to get on stage security to grab pull them down. His whole pants came off. It was that's old school. I told that's old school, right, Yeah, yeah, I respected it. I thought this guy's the real deal. I know, right, I love it. I'd think the same thing. And how badass is it to get out there early in the day in the festival people partied probably late last night, and you had that kind of crowd and that kind of pit. Man.
25 We were talking about this before we before we went on, we were walking around the just the festival grounds, and I don't know how people do this for three days or four days or whatever this one is. It's like, it's it's so cool that people showed up and the you know, the number that they did it was rad. Yeah, and you know what the four day thing. I was talking about this recently because a lot of these festivals used to be three days and that fourth day, that that just puts the that's like, yeah, couldn't be me. Honestly, couldn't couldn't be me. I would never do it. You know, everybody who does do it because I think you're a warrior. If you can do it, how's the thing you maybe just build different? That's part of drugs. It depends on who you are. I don't need the drugs, but sure maybe they help.
16 Maybe they do, and that's fine, that's great, you know. But it's like my youngest doter sometimes I'll bring her in a festival because I do. I go on tour and I do all the festivals, and she's like after the first day, like half of the first day, she's like that, I don't know how you do this. Every weekend I'm done. Yeah, I'm like, I don't know how. I don't, you know, And kind of like an artist, I go home and it's fucking depressing. It's like when am I leaving again? Yeah, going home can be Going home can be really weird, especially after like a long tour or like a festival, like it can be a little bit like monotonous. Yeah, Like I've been on tour since the beginning of August and the only break I had what's between Louder and after Shock, which I did have like a festival near home, punkin Drublic in Orlando and I'm in South Florida, But that was one day. But I'm home for like I don't know, a week and a half and I was like counting the hours to Aftershock because I was I was like, I don't want to be here. Yeah, yeah, it can be tough sometimes, right, And you know, you know too as an artist when you do this, your friends are here, they're not at home, right, The friends kind of like slowly dissipate from like home to like even these bartenders right over here is that third festival We've seen the mat and like right like a month or so and we're like, hey, what's up. Yeah, Like yeah, even like some of the bartenders,
49 I'll see him like every year and it's like, oh, hey, it's like you're once your friends. Yeah totally, but you guys share a deeper connection, right. There's something told an artist like there's so much hardship, but you know, high and highs and loose peaks and valleys and seeing those people, you connect with them and it makes a strong friendship. So it totally changes from your friends at home to your friends on the road totally. And to your point, you know, you have to be built for it. So to be an artist, you have to be built for it, because listen, nowadays, you have to be on the road because the only way you're making money. You know, Yeah, there's no I mean, nobody's getting paid anything at any level really of music other than like the highest of the high. Nobody's getting paid for streams, right, and even the highest of the high. Okay, So there's one band I know here that I know the basis, and basically the lead singer makes most of the money and the rest of the band makes next to nothing. They have second jobs and they're huge. They have day jobs and they're a huge band. Really, yeah, I see that. That's a bummer. I mean it is, but not that we have any illusions of being in the biggest band in the world world. But I mean we set up, we set up everything from the get as there's four of us and so it's twenty five percent of everything. So hopefully, I hope you guys stayed at and it will be the outlier on that. Yeah. I hope you guys stay that way because it happens a lot of times when there's no money then but then the money comes in and the ego comes in. Yeah, you know, and that's
20 key too, Like you have to have some ego to be a good artist, but keep your ego in check with your band members. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, because that's disaster. I think that's the big reason. Like Megadeth played yesterday. I was there back in the day when Mustaine was in Metallica. I think the biggest reason Megadeth. I mean that Mustaine's no longer Metallica's there's too much ego between him, Lars, and James. Yeah, too much ego in one band and almost almost uh understandable too because absolute legends, right, you know what I mean? Right, hard at that level to not have some sort of an ego I can't imagine exactly. So sometimes you have to have a band where you know, maybe one has that super duper ego and then because when you have me, you have those three super duper egos. That's that's conflict. Yeah, three three is too much. One is usually too much, but true story were small potatoes.
19 So it's like we don't have that yet. Maybe in a couple of years. Well, yeah, if we get a green room, we're really stoked. Nice if you got if you had a bathroom, you'd be really stoked. Right, If we have a bathroom in the green room, we're extremely excited. We're kings that day if we have people to unload our gear from our van at a venue. Yeah, I mean, I'm the King of Egypt in that right now. That's see, that's what friends are for. Like back in the day, I used to roady for all the bands in LA, all the metal bands in LA, because they're all my friends, and like, hey, can you give us a hand? Okay really really, and then you'll have to pay for the show we just speaking of.
01 Speaking of La, we just played a Whiskey a go go our first time there. Not a great experience, but wow, it's not even the real whiskey yet in twenty twenty three. I was there in the early eighties. That's why it was whiskey. I mean, I guess note of the sunset strip is what it was in the eighties location, but it's different. Yeah, it's a total different because yeah, it was a money suck. Yeah, they did not care we lost money planing. I think we made lost money. It was a sold out show on a Saturday Friday night. I think we lost money. Yeah, that sucks. Sucks, you know, because it wants to work for free. You know, it's a gun, but you need to make a living, you need to eat, you need to get to the next gig. I think that's what listeners don't understand when they think of oh bands and blah blah blah. Listen, it's hard for you guys. You know, it is extremely hard. It looks like it's not, but it is. No, it's extremely hard. Okay.
54 So one, you're away from everybody you know, including your wife and your girlfriend, and your dog and boyfriend and and well whoever where do all three? Ye Oh, you could be gone away from all three, like you know what I mean, Like you're gone from your family, everybody, everybody know, everybody you like. And then the road is like incredibly hard, like you have to kind of become like semi nocturnal, and then all of a sudden you have to go home and you don't really get paid, and then you go home after these huge shows and these huge things where you feel important and people love you and like whatever, and then you go home and you work like some day job where somebody nobody knows you, and it's like that's an ego check. Yeah, you know every time, And I was totally relating to you when it's like the going home and like the fanfare is gone, the excitement's gone, and it's just like what other people would call normal life. Yeah totally, But at what point, like does this become normal? And then back home it's like you know, right right anyway, that's the way it is for me, Like home's not even home to me anymore because I'm hardly ever there. Yeah, you know. And even the people, like you said, people I was hanging out with, friends I was hanging out with, they like just went in a different direction. So people don't realize this. After you're gone on the road for a while, you come home and those people that you were like really close with they don't have time for you anymore. Well you're gone, yeah yeah, I mean
26 they do other stuff, right, Yeah, they moved on with their life, you know, But it is worth it if you love the music and love to have the passion, which that's the only way to be in. That's why you got to do it for sure. So tell our listeners real quick, how you know they haven't heard you before. If they haven't heard you, how you would describe your band's music, not from a genre, but just you as an artist, no labels. Yeah, So here's the deal is. We love heavy music, I think, obviously, but we're also inspired by a lot of other things. I would think namely the BC Boys raging against machine and then also hip hop artists like like Biggie and Tech nine. Uh not so much, tex I don't want to say that because all the metal heads love Tech nine for some reason. We like a lot more like nineties boom bab. Okay, that's kind of our thing. So we're trying to bring a lot of nineties boom bab wrap into and if you come to a set, you'll hear like any time where they were like tuning or anything in between sets, it's all beats and like boom bab beats and like nice and so we we like a lot of that stuff. We love the beast Boys, I mean the Beastie Boys would be like the Bat Boys in Regegainst Machine, I think would be like obviously we can get compared to bands that are heavy like coupacn and these like Real just like Breakdown Gideon, these big like breakdown bands. But we're trying to bring something like different BacT Boys, Raging Machine, hip hop, groove rock elements to it. So
58 what we need is tour that is the reunion of Rage and Beast Boys and Foxlake Dream that might be the Dream tour. That is probably the dream too. I'm just playing it out there in the universe, you know. So whoever's listening, make it happen. Thank you exactly. Hey Danny Wimmer, if you hear this, Yeah, hey Danny, that's your next festival. And speaking of Danny, it's an't amazing how he treats artists compared to anybody else. Oh yeah, we I mean this is our So this is our third festival this year, but this is the only three festivals we've ever done, and they're all you know, Danny Wimmers And we talked to him for a minute. Just a sweet guy. I mean, didn't think he was better than us or you know, big shit or whatever. He was cool as hell and doesn't treat you different than tool. No, good dude.
52 Good dude really does make you know, the smaller opening bands, you know, whether you're playing at twelve thirty or one, or you're playing at ten thirty at night, like everybody feels it kind of feels like a family, you know, when you're here in your fin everybody's far away from home. And I think he knows that. And so we're very appreciative for like the family environment and our liaisons in the stage hands and everybody just does, like, I mean, a killer job at making not only making these things go, but making the artists feel like comfortable, so important, yeah, because usually that's not the case. Yeah, you know, and what a bitch it is to be an artist to begin with all the stuff we were talking about and then go do something like this and get not treated well, which suck even more so it makes you feel kind of good when you got a guy like Danny that's like treating you like kings. Yeah, not treating us like small potatoes, even though you know, any band plays early, you know, like whatever, Like everybody is treated with a lot of respect.
54 And so anytime we can be back, I mean, we would love to, We would love to do it because we've had a we've had incredible experience. Love it, great guy, How the people connect to you guys on socials, on the web, buy your merge, check out to our days, all them. So it's foxlakeband dot com. That's our that's our website, and then all on socials we're Foxlake. CEO stands for Colorado. So Foxlake CEO, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, x whoever knows, like whatever, I don't care. I don't care. We're all over the internet. If you search Foxlake Breakdown, cool as fuck, we'll come up. I love it. I love it. And what's your funniest TikTok? We're really bad about TikTok. We're we're hard. We have a hard time with TikTok. We have a really hard time with TikTok. What's your most hated TikTok? Well, the thing is, I think we have two tiktoks. I think we maybe have a few tiktoks. We have some tiktoks. There is a TikTok that I filmed of Zach here holding like a a pizza. No, it was something, it was something, and it's funny. It's a little toury cap and he's very handsome. He looks very handsome in it, and it's a kind of a joke. Oh he's holding a big hunk, like a big hunk candy bar. Oh wow, I mean, I guess that's funny. That was like two years ago. We suck on TikTok. If anyone's listening and wants to run our TikTok for free, hit me up, thank you, and how can they hit you up to do that? Maybe somebody will want to do that. Yeah, I
26 mean hit us up on anywhere, on anywhere, on socials, dms we see. So we're completely independent right now. We don't even have a manager right now, so we run all our own shit, all our emails, all our socials, our website, anything. If you get in touch with us, it will be one of the four of us who see it. And I mean, frankly, if it's worth our time, we'll hit you back. I love it. Well, you guys rock and you're so glad you're hearing after shock and thanks for being on the Avengers. Piks for having us, man, this is fun. I always love hearing that because how fucking boring is press? Usually? You know, like I say here, sometimes I love other people. I'm like, oh, I'd be slitting my throat if I was an artist right now. Gotta make it fun. You're artists to say yeah exactly, you know, there we go. But you guys make it fun too if it you know, the back and forth, so like for me, it's enjoyable. Sure, Like sometimes there's interviews like I'm looking, I'm like, okay, can I make it to ten minutes anyway? You guys rock. Thanks for being on the Adventures pipe Man.
38 Appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pate Man on w for CUI Radio.
