04 Hey, you have done too. Yes, that's true. For see Wow crazy Young. Why Coup America, It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man. I'll W four C why dot Com West pomp Beach is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe. Man, Untouchable, unstoppable. They told me esus a fine night between a good time and.

56 A fat time. Baby. This is my man here on the Adventures by Man W four c Y Radio at rock Lahoma, or shall we call it rain Lahoma? And here we are with the star of the day who set was so incredible nobody could even handle to watch it. We were so quick, we were the quickest performers ever right off stage in record time. See it. So tell them who you are. Tell tell everybody who you are. Oh, what's up, everybody? This is Eva from Eva under Fire. There you go. Yeah, I got my gears all twisted here because I'm just like excited that the show is still going and I'm wondering if my guys are, you know, back from the green room yet everybody's all flooded out, rained out crazy.

41 So yeah, you were like, do the thing, do the thing, and I'm like, what what thing? And now you know you should actually, since you didn't get to perform, I think Lidsey should just bring you up on. Stage with her. I mean we've talked about it. See, there you go. It's totally fair. Yeah, it's all right. No, I think I'm honestly I'm impressed with their montage that they got going on right now because I'm pretty sure they're just doing like bits of different songs. Right, Yeah, sure, I'm sure that's true. Yeah. So, and I know those guys they don't do there's no tracks, there's no cheat sheet, there's no nothing. They just like, yeah, they're they're that good. So yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if they just went up there and killed it and did a whole bunch of their songs all smushed together.

29 That's certainly what it sounds like. It's funny when you talk about the no tracks and stuff, because the first time I ever watched them live, I'm like, holy shit, her voice is a lot better than on the album. And when do you ever say that about artists? Like, yeah, you know what I'm saying, so just does that. It's unbelievable. It's like unbelievable. Yeah, but that's you too, right. Well, thank you and you know what, it's so cool. I mean, I walked over here in the midst of the downpour and I was helping this guy. He had a one of the pelletts to put down so people could walk over it and a bunch of towels, and the towels fell and I was trying to help them grab all the towels. And in the midst of me doing this, we're literally outside of the artist compound and Joe looks in the waves and I said, oh, hey, you know, and He's like, come by, hang out. So I got to go hang out with the Hillstorm camp and said hi to Lizzie and that, and I was telling her, you know, this is so cool, just meeting up with friends. And she says, listen, you deserve to be here. Your voice is incredible, Like she was giving me the complidence, and I was like, I what is my life right now?

29 Right? It's like, you know, I spent so much time wasted as a young person thinking that my voice was too clean for rock, and now I'm so glad I didn't listen to my scaredy pants self, my scaredy cats self, right. So if there's anybody listening, that's like I don't know if I could do that for real, or oh maybe I'm not as good as I want. Just start doing it and keep doing it, because that's how you get there. I love that because I wish I had you as a teenager around, because I played drums for nine years, I played guitar, and then I sang thresh Metal and I think I sucked at all three, and so I was like, nah, fuck it, you know, But but now I think about it. I look at some people and like, you take somebody like James from Metallica. Yeah, okay, I loved.

16 His voice in the game. He hates it, like he always talks about his voice in the game, like he didn't know how to sing, and like, so he kind of grew into his voice, yes, you know, and just did it and now he can actually sing. According to him, I always thought it was great. He like grew into someone a skill set that he's proud of, although it wasn't there full time, right, Yeah, And but other people saw that and heard that and thought, wow, that's great. You know, so it is he didn't. Yeah, you have to realize it yourself. Yeah, you're we're our own worst critics, right, that comes from somewhere. That's truth. And I think that's as long as you're willing to say, yeah, I could work on it, but I really enjoyed you this, or I really think that this is something special for me, then like keep doing it because you're only gonna get better.

05 Yeah, And I love how you say we are Loan worst quicks because we are even me, like, I'll do an interview and I'll get off I'm in my head, Oh my god, I sucked, and they're. Like, thanks, dude, that was so great and love. I'm like really, yeah, yeah, yeah, I could see that for you, especially because you feel it for maybe for you it's just like conversation, but like for us, this is like this is wonderful exactly. I just come sit and chat with a friend and that's that's the interview, right. And I think that's the way it should because if I was an artist, it's the way I would have it, sure, you know. And I have like a bunch of artist friends that one of them like told me, I wish they would have asked me what skin cream I use on tour, like, because I'm so sick of every other question that it's the same question by everybody that you can look up.

54 And I have this rule. If it's on Wikipedia, unless I know it's wrong, why talk about But if it's wrong, it's like, come on, is this really what it is? And then they're like no, you know, like. I did that with Rob Zombie once, Like there was this rumor about he couldn't get into his own gig guy club because they thought he was a homeless person. And so I talked to him before the interview. I'm like, I know you know about this rumor. Do you want to talk about because I'm one and I won't talk negative. Shit, and sure, sure, yeah, Ever. Okay, my job is to promote the artist, Okay, so if I don't like the arts, I'm not gonna interview him because I can't be authentic. Sure, so he said, he goes, oh, now it's a this I don't even remember it, but it was like he knew the story and now it like developed into something else, like the game of Telephone, you know, funny. And he's like, sure, we'll talk about and we talked about it and it's just so funny what sometimes you guys as artists go through and deal with that. To me, that was the most interesting part of the interview because we're taking some stupid rumor and dispelling it, but in a funny way.

11 Yeah, yeah, like here's it. You know, this is the debunked right, Like now. It's exactly I mean, if everybody always already knows the answer, why I asked the question, right, and sometimes use common sense. Let's talk about this with somebody like band name, mm hm, why ask the band name? Maybe think about it for a second, you know, and you might figure it out. Like there used to be this band from I don't know if you know them, but they played a couple of day wimmer festivals from Amsterdam called The Charm the Fury, and so it was it was a female led and so basically I was talking to one of the band members were hanging out. I'm like saying that it's so stupid white people ask that. I'm like, and in your band, it's obvious she's the Charm, but she's also the Fury because she had this growl in her voice.

03 She had to clean voice, but she had to. Growl, like yeah, way more badass than most males. Okay, crazy, So it's just have a little common sense think about it instead of asking an obvious question that nobody cares anyway. Who cares how you got in your band name? Yeah, I think they care about things like how well you did at Rockville without having a. Set, right, Yeah, yeah, right. I joked, I joked. I don't know if you were told I said that you could come. We were sitting in the car like locked down, and you could come and we could do the interview in the car like carpool karaoke.

43 Yes, we should have done it, I'm right. I don't know. I think Rob might have gotten that one because I did not receive that message. But that would have been Yeah. That would have been a drown rat in your van because I was definitely like a part of that day, Luise. It was crazy. But yeah, uh, it would have been carpool karaoke for sure. It would have been an interesting spin off just doing what you can and a rained out Rocklahoma. I would love it. That was cool. That's cool. But here we are. Yes, things reopened, got it? You know? I wish they would put you on like maybe tomorrow or something, because I can't believe we're. Missing no, no, I know. Yeah, well, and thankfully we did have another show that we booked while we were out. So tomorrow night we're playing in Missouri.

27 Nice. Yeah, so we're opening for our friends in Nothing More Woweah. So it's kind of like on the way home kind of deal. So so it all is not lost. There you go. Yeah, I love it. And what else do you have going on after the non Rocklaholma show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're writing. So we've got a new music coming. Nan'll probably be Q one next year some kind of time like that. Actually, not to twist the knife, because I know that you were already looking forward to our set at Rocklahoma that never actually happened. However, we would have debuted two new songs for you today. I know you had to. Tell me that. You had to tell that so excited about them all might I'm going to be like, oh my god, you're.

13 Gonna come back and do a bigger next year. That's us. There you go, and you'll have to do more new songs. Yeah, yeah, I think I think we're ready. I mean, I was telling the guys, it's really great that off of the one album, we've been able to come to all of these different festivals for the last three seasons we've been here twenty three oh we started with the Danny Wimmer in twenty two, so this is the third year for Danny Wimmer shows. Nice, but yeah, it's it's been a really cool ride. And honestly we've lucked out because this is our first right out. Wow. Yeah, because as somebody that does all the Danny Wimmer shows, I think there's a lot more of the festivals I've gotten evacuated from than not evacuated.

54 Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's harder when you're I mean when it's down South or when it's you know whatever in the weather. It's crazy. So I mean, I'm glad we got to do it. I still got a chance to hang out with the Hailstorm camp and there you go. I met Amy Lee today, which was amazing. Really I did, I like backed up into her in catering. Wow. Yeah. So it's actually been a fulfilling day for me anyway. So I'm really I was here for the show, but I stayed for the ride. So so it's funny you should bring that up because we were also talking in the car about Amy Lee because I used to joke on my show all the time. Like she's the love of my life. Yeah, and if I ever get a chance an interviewer, I'm gonna propose in the interview, and I would do something stupid like that. But because when you're doing an interview, you can play it off like I'm just playing sure, no type of thing. Sure, you know. And but I was doing Rockville and I just got done doing an interview.

45 I had to carry my equipment up to where I did the interview and bring it back to my table. And this really big dude sees my cords starting to fall, and it comes over and picks him up, gives them you could trip over there, like, he helps me out. I go over table. Christine's there. She's like, do you mind I had to use her table because Amy Lee is coming over to sign some stuff. I'm like, sure, right, I don't have to leave, do I right? I don't have to leave. I can still. She's like, yeah, just don't ask for an interview, and she knows I wouldn't because it's not my style, like I don't fanboy and stuff. Maybe sometimes in the head, but nobody would ever know type of thing, you know.

29 And so then she comes over and she's taking a picture with another media person. Turns out that big dude was her security guard. I think you're talking about this guy I just heard about. His name is Big T. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the one being. The type of media person I am that doesn't do those things. Like ask for pictures or aureographs. I went up to him because he saved I said, and she saved my life. There can I get a picture with her too? He's like, sure, do you have your phone? I always have my phone in my pocket.

11 I went like this, I'm like it was over at the other table like no, I'm like no, but I can get it. And I literally like ran and got my phone. And then I think it was Christine that said, Okay, we can't do it now. It's tick too long. And then I gotta tell you something. What happened next blew my mind. Oh, Amy said no, I want to take the picture with them. Oh, which proves what she is just a real person, you know, And that's just like that's ultimately the nice thing. I mean, that's like your nicest thing to do.

57 Yeah, you're at there. Didn't have to. She was in a rush. Management was trying to mover and she's like, you know, no, I'm taking this picture. That's cool man. Yeah, so there you go, so similar experience to you, Like, yeah, just happened and nowhere like I even know that was her security guard. She was actually doing an interview, but I wasn't paying attention, so it was like, wow, how do universe put this all together? It did, totally did, Yeah, for sure. And it is kind of cool, like you probably realized when you meet people, whether you're on the same level or not, when they just turn out to just be cool people. Yeah. You know. I was just talking with the Hailstorm camp about this too, and they were like, you know, we we really both had similar experiences where it's mostly the cool people that you meet along the way. That's like ninety nine percent of our experience and of my experience, and I'm grateful for that because I feel like the one percenter is out there that aren't about it, or they're just rude, or you know, whatever the case. I think there is you know, space for those people on to have their own lane. That's fine, right, but the rest of us, we all like to get together and hang out in the same tent to do this missing.

11 Out just people. Yeah, and like you live, everybody says dream life. It's kind of a rough life. It's a dream life and a rough life at the same time. I always call it an adventure. There it is. It's like my show The Adventures of Pipe Man. Okay. So yeah, And basically you're just real people that just want to have fun and have a good time, and unfortunately sometimes people don't look at you that way. No, you know, so it's hard and I have I actually have a system for what you're talking about. There's three types of artists for me. The icons up here they have no clue to icons. They're just cool as shit all the time and just so down to earth. Yeah, you know, you have the people down at the bottom and that are just looking to.

01 Grow, so they're also cool shit. It's the middle and it's the ones usually that had a little bit of fame like ten years ago or more, and they're still egoing about that. Maybe you know, I could see some of that. Yeah, I could see some of that. I do. I think you're right too about the icons that don't know their icons. Right. So I was we were on ship. Rocks, and you meet everybody on ship rocks, right, But we were in catering and one of the friends that we met from the Theory of a dead Man tour was there, and it's someone that I slung merch with. I mean, I did our own merch on that tour. And it was jud who was sitting there at this table, and he introduced me to who was sitting there with.

41 I didn't even recognize until I looked up. It was Corey Taylor. Wow. Yeah, And he just looks at me and he goes, hey, I'm Corey. You know this is my and you know you just want to look at the guy and go, of course you are right. Also, every single person that's on this ship knows who you. Are, right, And he's another example. Okay, so I have a story with two say things like I have two stories. One has to do with storms. But the first story is I was interviewing Roy on the tour bus when they were doing the Stones Tower tour and at the time, I smoke cigarettes. I get off the tour bus, I sit down on the curb. I'm smoking a cigarette. This dude walks over and sits down next to me and just starts talking to me with that deep voice. And I'm like, he's talking about the weather in Georgia the night before. I'm like that was that fanboy moment that he didn't know. I didn't let him know. I knew who he was. Yeah, I just like was talking to him, and I'm like, oh my fucking god, it's years ago. I'm talking to Corey Taylor like and we're talking about weather, you know, right.

42 It's like and it's funny because I'm like friends with Alicia and I've interviewed her, I've in reviewed Griffin. I'm probably interviewing him this weekend. I've never interviewed Corey and I won't ask. I don't ask Alicia. So many people do that tour and she she's interviewing because she wants to her Yeah, and I think that's so rude, like to. Go through somebody to get to somebody else, go. Through the normal channels. Yeah, you know exactly. And so then there was another scenario where I was going to get the interview. It was that Rock on the Range. Yeah, and the tour mager comes out to me and goes, Okay, I'm bringing Corey to you in five minutes. And I've done over three thousand interviews. There's not many people I haven't interviewed, and he's one I always want to wow.

30 Two Mantes layer. We got evacuated just like we did today. Are you serious? So like you not got your set? You like a your set? I never got my interview it right, you know. But it's just what happens out here sometimes, you know. But see now we're here together, So that's badass. After all that, that's right, we're fixing it. What else do you want to listeners to know that we haven't covered that you got coming up and things they have to check out. So I can tell you this because we were releasing new music. The few of our friends who have heard us from the dawn of time till present have said very affectionately so that our news stuff is like a heavier, more refined version of some of our older material. I mean, we're talking about throwing it back to our first Anchors released album that we released ourselves, and so's that's fun and exciting to me. So I guess for the listeners just to do deep. I know you rockers out there like your deep dives, So go and listen to ev Underfire Anchors and some of those songs off of that album, and I think you'll see what I'm talking about. There is just there's a lot more honesty in this lyricism I'm really excited about. But there's also some more grit, some more punch, and Yeah, for those people that really come to our shows and they love when we play songs like Coomatos and we play songs like Heroin, I think you're really gonna like this new stuff for sure.

59 For sure. I mean, we love blow and there will be some of that too, but this stuff is, this stuff goes hard. I think people are going to be like, well, the next time we come to one of these Danny Wimber shows, they're going to be open up the pit for Evan or fire shows. Love it, it's crazy. Yeah, I'll be in that pit. Yeah. So what made you be more honest in your writing now? Because I think writing lyrics and using your own experiences is hard work, you know, because you're revealing a part yourself that you don't revealed to anybody else. And I know that feeling like I'm also a motivacial speaker. I tell stories of my life that I people that have known me my whole life don't know. Wow, so people could learn from them, and sure, shit that I went through and stuff, but I don't talk about it in real life. But when I get up on stage, that's different.

48 But it's hard to put yourself out there like that. So what made you go there? I think for me that part of it has always been my own therapy. That's the part of the Catharsist for me. And when we first just released Love, Drugs and Misery, that was written before Pandemic World, So that music was supposed to come out in March of twenty and got held onto. So I really hadn't explored I mean, I've lived. I feel like I've lived a million lifetimes since I wrote some of that stuff, right, So I feel like there was a lot more that has happened. I mean, I've grown as a person as an artist. We know what it's like out here now, you know, being that we are touring and things like that. I mean all of album. One was prior to any of that, right, So, like this is now the grittier, more real side of things that we feel like we've It's still encouraging in the sense that we're still here.

37 We got to album two, we've risen above all of that. Craziness, But there was still a lot of feelings about that craziness that needed to have been explored. So I think that this new album does that wonderfully and in new cool ways. I felt like also when we got into the studio to do the first album, it was something that we wanted to be like big commercial success, right, which I feel like we got there. Thank you everybody who's listening and who's ever spun our song glow. But I think that in doing that, some of it was got a little bit like too many cooks in the kitchen, too many opinions about what you can say, how you can say it right, got a little watered down, and I think in the interest of trying to play in the big leagues, we were listening to that and we chose not to this time.

23 I love it because it's usually the other way around. Yeah, So I think that's super cool, and that goes back to a philosophy I had while I was younger with all the gatekeepers, and I was one at one time, Like when Metallica came out with the Black album, Posers sellout like I was at their first show ever, so I'm like, fuck them, yeah, you know, and there's still one of my favorite bands now. Yeah, I had to grow up a little bit to realize that. I do think that's a maturity thing. Yeah, totally. But the thing is what I said when I finally did grow up is that sometimes you do certain things as an artist to get to the point where you could do whatever you want.

07 Certainly. Yeah. I think Evenge Sevenfold is a great example of that. Their newest album was like way left field from what they had released previously. But I think that was intentional, you know. And they I mean, they're Avenged sevenfold, right, so they can do that. Now you can just do whatever you want. Yeah, it doesn't matter. Yeah, yeah, and see you're already getting there. Look at that. Thank you. Yeah, it's gonna be It's gonna be really cool. I also think that this this environment that we're living in now, with the social media and things being the way that they are, and as many negatives as that might, you know, present, I think what is positive about it is that people who are believing in what they do and believing in what they say are the ones that are getting through the noise, and many people gravitate toward honesty, and I think there's a lot of like wonderfully done old pop lyrics that are coming through because of that.

54 They're people talking about things like not just mental health in a broad spectrum, but their own journeys, right and they're talking about it in a very poetic way. And that's something that I've always felt like I was my strong suit was that I was I was speaking about things in a way that that brought you into the into the image of what I'm trying to write. I set the tone, and there's a there's a different, like, you know, cadence to my words and the phrases. And we worked with somebody on this new album that was, I mean, an amazing influence and kind of took it into a different direction in a space that we hadn't really explored before. And once we got that like. Energy behind it, once we could we saw that that gear was possible for us.

35 It was like a whole new playground nice and then we just got very you know, because the inspiration just came natural, you. Know, and becomes more exciting. Man. I kind of revives your love of the creativity, yes, exactly, which also brings me to talk about the lockdown. I think if you're going to take one positive and a lockdown for artists, is it respurred creativity? Because I think a lot of artists they were on this hamster wheel and that or had chance to create their show to show, to show, let's write songs on the tour bus, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, and they allowed them to slow down and really evaluate how their music they want their music to be, not just the writing process, but what direction. Because when you're on that hamster wheel, you're not thinking about that.

18 You're just I gotta keep going. I gotta keep going, and you never have a chance to stop and think where do I really want my creativity to go? So I think based on what you're saying before, that's exactly what happened with you, is like you got a chance to stop and think, now where oh I want to go? Yeah? Yeah. Once we had, you know, ridden the roller coaster that was album one and got to the other side and got offered a chance to do album two, we all kind of looked at one another, now that we have a realistic picture of what this is going to be like, and we said you in and everybody went absolutely. So we're still having fun out here. So tell everybody how they can reach out to you on socials on the web get your new music, check out your tour dates, check out your merch all that good stuff.

03 Yes, all things are at eva underfire dot com, whether it's release schedule or when we're touring. We post all of our shows on there and all of the things. But I'm also very active on Instagram and TikTok and Facebook, so. Be looking for announcements towards the end of the year, for sure. So excited about that. I hope you play another show soon where we could hear the new songs. Are you going to play it in Missouri? I am oh. So see they got lucked out and you get you get to show them in. The show me. Yeah, Missouri better better show out, man, because we thought that Rock Klahoma was going to be the guinea pigs and that didn't end up working out.

46 So there you you're up. All happens for a reason and you're here for a reason. Thank you, and thank you for being here, and thanks for being on the Adventures plate man. Hey, thanks lat I man, I appreciate. You, man. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipemen on w for c u I Radio.
