04 Hey, you have then too censure. See wow for you young. Why Become of America. It's time for. The Adventures of White Man on W four C why dot com West pomp Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man, yawl by all that, I am all your ras.

54 So the two is the White Man here on the Adventures by a Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with Dying Oath. Nice here at Louder than Life. You made it because Slayer didn't make it. Somebody had to do it. You were Slayers substitution that Louther to Life. I'm maybe not so much, but I'm cool with it. I'll take it. So, is this your first time playing Louder Than Life? It is our first time playing Louder Than Life. And we got voted to play here. We didn't even know we were gonna be playing until next week. Tell me about that whole story.

35 Okay, So they had this fan voted thing on Facebook and we started seeing our name pop up. So we were like, okay, yeah, it's short notice, We're probably not gonna get it, so we'll push it anyway. See what happens. And then a couple of days in we were like, wow, this is really going somewhere, so we pushed it a little harder and then they announced that we won and we were like whoa, Now we're gonna have to figure this out and actually go so wow. That's what's cool about the Danny Wimmer festivals. One of the things is like bands like you get on a festival without any clue knowing that's gonna happen. It happens all the time. The band the band I just interviewed before you, I was walking out Thursday night and they were playing in a U haul in the parking lot, like and that's how And he's told me they've been doing that after shot for years and finally they got invited on Silly Goose, same thing they crashed one of the festivals. They were out in the parking lot and Danny Wimmer was just staying watching them, like instead like they called him, this band's laying out there instead of going and like bust him, kicking him out. He just stood and watched and then the next day they were playing.

47 That's really cool and honestly, like we've played a lot of shows, we've played some festivals, but Danny Wimmer really knows how to take care of his bands, to take care of all the people that are here, obviously, but this is the coolest experience that we've had so far. And then meeting other parents that are on the same level is just awesome. I love hearing that because I do festivals all over the US, UK, Europe, and not one artist in like I don't know, thirteen fifteen years or whatever, has ever had anything but good things to say about Danny Wimmer and how he treats the artists. Absolutely. I mean, they feed us good, they pay us good, they take care of us. We've got somebody on site at all times. We just message if we need anything, they show up. If we have any issues, they show up.

33 It's been really surreal. Honestly, that's badass because most of the places you play that ain't the case, is it. No. A lot of places you play you're just nobody. But Danny Wimmer makes everybody feels like rock stars, even the patrons. You know, he makes everybody feel like they're important, and I think that's super important to make sure that this comes back every year. That's so cool because I hear often like from the smaller events are like and we get treated the same as the headliners. Yeah. Really, that's how I'm feeling right now. I mean, it's we're all equals and it's amazing. That's the way it should be. That's why his festivals are so big because of that. The only way in this business. There's a bunch of bullshit to deal with if you're gonna get good stuff, that's how you grow. Because we're family, man, this musical family.

24 And it's nice to see where bands are treated the way they're supposed to be treated, because you guys have a hard freaking job. Like I listen, most people don't realize. They think, oh, they're living the dream life. I get that shit too. They see me going festival, Oh you're living the dream life. Yeah, you don't see me like having the festival dust where I can't fucking breathe, Like I can't breathe right now, and the shit you gotta go through and that. My daughter, though I brought her to a festival, couple festivals. Halfway through the first day, she's like, Dad, I don't know how you do this. Every weekend I'm done already. Yeah, And people don't understand what you put into it as an artist.

08 And your heart and soul. Absolutely. I mean we had to go through a lot of obstacles just to be here. I mean, number one, we didn't know until week out, so we had to rearrange our entire life around that, which we would do in a heartbeat one hundred times over. And then of course the hurricane hit and where we're at right now is pretty much underwater in Virginia, so getting through the storm, it took us like nine hours to drive the six and a half hours to get here. Wow. And then when we got here, of course, like we didn't know if we were gonna be able to play or like what was gonna happen. Yeah, And we woke up this morning to a. Beautiful day, a little bit of rain. But what was crazy is like it wasn't really raining until we hit our last note and then it started down for and we were like, the metal gods have absolutely smiled upon us today.

00 Yeah. And one of the crazy things about it, too, is these festivals coming out all the work and the money, the time, the sweat and tears and logistics that go into it. This is the reward for the work that we put in prior, for all of the marketing the advertising busts and our asses just trying to get noticed to even get on something like this. So this is the fun part for us. I love it, and you know what, that's also I give credit to Danny Wimmer because how many times the bands play at festival and it's not fun at all because it's not your sound people, it's not your and it just can be a shit show sometimes. To be blunt, I definitely agree. But we were lucky enough to have a great crew on our team to be able to get us here and help us with everything.

43 But also Danny Wimmer has the best crew on the planet. Everybody is just so attentive. Everybody's so passionate about what they're doing, whether they're just scraping the water off of something, or they're serving your alcohol, or they're coming to talk to us for an interview. Like they have the crew absolutely on the planet. So I would do this every week if I could, for sure. I love it, And I gotta tell you, my hat's off to you. Gaining nine a week before and being able to perform at festival, Like there's a lot of people would be like they would lose their mind, they wouldn't know what to do it's too short us and shows your true musicians, because true musicians can just show up.

24 We definitely appreciate that because not just this week, but our entire crew and our we've had to go through so many obstacles over the past almost six years just to stay together and to be able to still juggle everybody's lives and to be able to juggle our jobs and all the things that we have to do to be here. And then it's like he said, this is the fun part where we're like, Okay, this is the reward that we've been working toward for the last five years, you know. So instead of losing our minds, we were ecstatic. We're like, if we have to quit our jobs, there's more jobs, but this is a one in a lifetime opportunity that may not come around again. And our fans voted us into this and we have to show for them because they're the ones that wanted us here, and so we would have moved heaven and earth to be here one hundred and tents.

13 And it's true what you said, because this is where you discover your favorite band at a festival. Like there's bands that I didn't even know who they were like all my life and I go festival, I'm like, oh my god, they are freaking awesome. And had it not been for a festival, we had Slipknot play Thursday night. I saw a Slipknot at oz Fest third stage ninety nine, Mud Vane, third stage ninety nine in this moment, third stage ninety nine. Three bands that are iconic now, But I wouldn't have known from him if I wasn't at oz Fest. Well after we got done and we went out into the crowd, I mean, we had all kinds of new people coming up to us and we never seen you before.

00 You were amazing and nice. What a feeling that is, man? It was. It was really awesome because right across from her stage was a bartend, like there is right here, and we walked up to get a celebratory drink like we always do, and the bartender was like. Wait, was that you that was singing over there? I was like, yeah, that was me. Did you like it? And she was like, oh my gosh, you're like one of the best screamers I've ever heard. She was like, I thought you were a guy. And I was like, that's like the best compliment that you could have given me. I appreciate that. I love it, and I'm old school, from the old school of gatekeeping, and I don't know what the fuck we were thinking back then, Because I think women are the most badass singers in fucking metal and they can scream better than most guys.

46 I appreciate that a lot. I mean, it's been a long road for people to take me seriously, as with. All women, I'm sure. Yeah, But now that it's to this point and I can stand on the same stage as like all of my male icons as well as my female ic is just mind blowing, right, and just I feel really blessed to live in a time where it's more common. Yeah, and you guys have earned it because I think you have to work a lot harder than the guys. I think so too, But I also think that the reward is also greater because when you can prove yourself and you can do all those things, like you're not just some vocalist, You're somebody who really earned your way.

27 Not saying that the males don't, because I think that we all do as musicians, but being a woman and getting to that point is the reward is so amazing. Oh it is, and it's a reward for us because we get to enjoy you. So there you go. I appreciate that. How do people connect to you guys on socials on the web by your merch because bands don't survive without merch. You're not allowed to listen to my show. Unlet's say buy your merch. So we actually have a link tree that's www dot linktree dot com, backslash dying oath that has all of our life. But we are on every social that you can possibly think of, Like if there's a social media for it, we're on there. And also if you go to our Facebook page, you can find that link at the very top, mate, and then you can also connect with us and we'll talk to you like normal people, because we're normal people.

17 That's the way it should be. That's a good point too, because that's why a lot of people don't realize musicians, no matter what level you're at, are just normal people. It's like people like look at the like there's something different. Most musicians are introverts. People think they're not. Yeah, and you go into a zone when you get up on that stage, off the stage, you're probably not gonna be that same zone, and people don't realize you have the same feelings that the people in the crowd would have if they were getting up there. Absolutely, I feel like that's the connection that we actually probably have, is that when we're on that stage, we're like icons. But as soon as we get down and we talk to those people and we have the same conversations and explain to them the things that we go through the same things that they go through. That's actually how you build your fan base. It's not through your music.

12 It's connecting to your demographic and knowing what these people need from you and giving that to them because they're giving that same thing in return and all that love and support. And I love that you're doing that. So I had a chance to meet Corey from slip Knot and chat from mud Bay and unimention in them and just talking to them like they're normal people, not like there's some god or something like that, and able to connect with them and they're like, Oh, Hey, that's that guy over there, that's just chill, Let's go talk to him when they're getting swarmed with people and se Yeah, they're just normal people. They're normal people. And I think it's the same connection. It's like us to the people that were iconic to us, it's kind of the same thing, Like we have that same connection with them, and they understand that we're giving them the same and so when we meet new people, we try to do the same thing and translate it and hanging forward.

05 Great point of how you treat them, because like it's funny. Years ago, I was covering a Stone Sour show and after doing the interview with Ray May Oregon the tour bus, I went sat down on the curb outside, had a cigarette. This dude walks over sits down next to me with this raspy voice, and I acted like I didn't know who he was, and he was talking to me. Man, the weather was shit in Georgia at our show last night, and that was our conversation with stuff like that. And it was Corey. And it's like, and I happen to know for a fact because I've interviewed Alicia many times and I got friendly with her, and she's like the people Corey liked the most, or the people that just walk by and say hey and keep going, And that says it all, Like that's like people don't want to be swarmed like that.

59 And they if you're just cool and chill and just like, hey, what's up, that's when to your point, they're gonna want to talk to you. Yeah, for sure. I mean, personally, I don't mind being swarmed, But if I had to go through that every single day of my life, it would probably be a bit different. But we're lucky enough that our fans are really chill and they just want to hang out with us and take a photo and whatever. And that's the best feeling on the planet to have people that want to recognize you at all. Right, we're nobody, And I love your old school approach because back in the day in the eighties, and I lived Sunset Strip in the eighties in the beginning, and that's how it was. It was like the band just hung out with you, Like I used to hang out with Sleigher outside before they were about to get on stage, and you just hang there bullshit of about stupid shit.

54 You'd go up to the. Rainbow and go hang out and it was just act to everybody was acting like normal people. Well, I mean, I don't know why anybody would not want to be that way, because at the end of the day, those are the people that paid to see you. They're the reason why. You're here, is USh especially, we never would have had this opportunity if it wasn't for the people that were in the crowds. Yeah, but even on a normal day, like they are the people that listen to your music, there are the people that want to take a photo and post it to social media so people know who you are. So it's it's all a big networking thing. But you can't have fans without the musicians, and you can't have musicians without the fans. No, that's important to notice that. No doubt. And to your point too, is like those are who become your super fans because like they are like Slayer, they're only a couple of years older than me, but like I was at their first show ever, and I was at Metallica's first show ever. Dave Bustain came out after the show and was hanging out with me at the bar.

52 I was fifteen years old or some shit like that. I never forget that for the rest of my life, experience of Wow, they're gonna talk to me type of thing. And I think more bands should be like that, and there's a lot that are, but there's some that aren't, and more bands should be like that, because to your point, that's what creates the fans are loyal to you for life. Well, it's also what creates other bands that are like that because there are also musicians out there too, So if they see you treating your fans like that, they're gonna want to do the same thing. I mean, the reason why I started doing this to begin with because when I met my favorite band, they were just so sweet, so normal and just wanted to help out any way they could and just be nice to you and whatever.

39 But then when people see us, they're like, oh, look what they're doing with their fans, and it just creates more and more generations of people down the line that are gonna treat their fans the way that they're supposed to be treating I love it. It's paying it forward. It's so true. I love it. Anything else you guys want to tell the listeners that we haven't touched on yet. I personally, maybe these guys want to say something. I personally just want to thank you for taking your time out of the day because we can't get our names out there if it's not for people like you. And also to thank the fans that voted for us to get us here because we wouldn't be sitting here right now if it wasn't for the to get us on, and Danny Wimmer also because. He's the man. There you go.

21 Yeah, I think we covered it. We appreciate it well. Thank you for being here a loud in life, and thank you for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man. That's been fun. Just mentioning that we are dropping a new single. That's reporting first nice and a video to go with it. So love it. Keep an eye out. Everybody's got to check it out. Thanks. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Fate Man on w for CUI Radio.
