04 Hey, you have done to censure? Why crazy young rowdy? Why koume of America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four c Y dot com West pom Beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with Robe. How's it going, Oh, it's gone great. And tell us who you're from.

59 I love one band to do it because then they say it cool. So I'm in a bank called Don Broco. It's important I say the name because everyone gets it wrong. It's the stupidest band name ever. Like, within a week of calling ourselves don Broco, everyone I'd done well a little. People think I'm done one thing. So they're like, hey, don nice to meet here. It's like, no, I'm rob. The band name is Don Broco. We get Don Bronco, we get Don Brocco, we get the Donny Broncos, we get everything. And that's what you get for having a stupid name that doesn't make any sense. See that's why I like having the band say it. First of all, I get something cool like that, then you can't get it wrong. And I don't fuck it up exactly. I think to myself, if I was a bear, they would piss me off if every press person fucked up my name. And that happens all the time, yeah, lot, and we feel too a lot of the time. If it's only slightly wrong, you don't want to correct people because you seem, you know, you don't have to come across like a dick. But if it is like genuinely wrong, then you have to stop them mid interview because then you feel you're not you know, you're not doing yourself right by your band names. You have to promote your band name.

08 So here's the advice for all press people. Stop asking how they got their band name and asking how they pronounce their band name. That's good advice, good advice, right, because you'll never hear me ask how do you get your band name? Unless it's something that I know is a really cool story. Yeah, yeah, and I know it. It's like, okay, well that's cool to talk about it, okay, yeah, But otherwise, as you know, it's an urs. That's like the most boring, uncreative question anybody can ask. Oh, I won't tell you how we got a name. I'll keep the mystery. Yeah, it's better. It's not the best. It's an okay story, but the amount of times you have to say it, I mean, hopefully people aren't bored of me saying it when they win, but I feel bored. I feel bored when I'm telling it. To tell it so many times, you then think like, am I just a boring fucking right now? Because I'm telling the same story this guy here? You should still I should still making up shit, fuck up, fuck with the media. Yeah, okay, so I'll tell you a story. I've told this a few times, but it's so great. The band August Burns Red. I'm interviewing them, and one of the things I said before the interview is, and I don't ask you stupid questions like how do you get your band name? And they're like, well, you're lucky because we fuck with every person that does that. See that girl over there, and he goes, and we do it with such a straight face.

32 We make up a different story every time, like they're entertaining themselves. Yeah, and so he goes. We told her, Yeah, my sister, we got this dog when we were a teenager. She named it August. We're out in the you know, in the street partying, and we decided it would be funny to light August on fire and watch them run down the road ergo August burns red and they were like, you had to see the look of horror. She was like, I should report you guys the police right now. Well I shouldn't you be with you standing with you right now. But see that's what you fucking get for asking that question. We we had one that we did a few times and until people started believing it that because we believe we're from in the UK is a town called Bedford. There's a lot of Italians in Bedford. My dad's Italian, and we told people that my granddad was like the main mafia Don of Bedford and his name was Don Broco and he and he basically ran this whole town and ran all the all the bad ship, all the crime, everything could basically be traced back to him. And we had a few different variations of that. But like we said that enough that people started assuming that was the real story, and we we couldn't keep it up. We like, you know, we had kind of straight faces for the first few and then when people actually pressed us on it, we gave in, So I'm kind of gutted about that.

58 Sometimes st sometimes those stories become like legends. For instance, I was watching Ozzie's show where it's Ozzie and Jack and they were on tour. Turns out he never pissed on the Alamo. What Yeah? And all these years he thought he was banned from the Alamo and he wasn't. How did they find that out? Because they went there and they did research on the show, Yeah, and found out there is nothing blocking Ozzy. He just lived that way for all those years. Believe, but because he was probably so fucked up. Okay, yeah, yeah, okay, I can believe that, right? And how they years did that story last? Yeah? I mean we will be in there where someone said you're not gonna believe that shit you did last night, and you're like, fuck, did I really? And you have enough people say it You're like oh, and then you start remembering it this fake story in your head. I've done that before where I'm like, fuck, I really must have done that. So, yeah, was the amount of fucking shit he used to get up to. I can imagine, Oh, yeah, you could believe it, like shit he did, you can believe he did anything right, you know, I tell you what.

11 I have fun with it too, because I was just talking to the last band about this. My ex is from England and talk about people believe in anything. Well, a lot of English people that come over to America they act like they're royals, like because they can, and because Americans have this viewpoint of English people as being prim and proper and very classy and blah blah blah, and so they play that. They play up to it, they play it, and they even play it so hard that they look down on Americans while they're here, like better than us. And my ex wife was totally like that. Really, she she would like even with table manners, she would get on right case with shit that and I have really good table matters, but she she'd make it like they were ship Americans, not how it is done in England. Yes, exactly. Are you ready for this? I didn't know what this meant, but after doing a few downloads and a few bloodstocks, I found out she was from Newcastle. That's not even really England, that's what they said. But it's like, did she have a Jordi accent or she she spoke like the Queen's England. Yeah, yeah, so like it was believable. Yeah, you know, and then now all these years later on Divorce Romer, I'm like that bitch, like she was just had nobody. It's true though, Like as a brit you

41 come to America and I'm still surprised about how sometimes excited random people are to meet someone from England. We're just doing our Walmart shop, you know. We get there and we asked one of like, you know, one of the guys at the till. Oh, by the way, where can I find the fucking hoovers or whatever? That excuse me? Where are you from? We're like from England and they're so stoked to me. I'm like, you must have met a few English people before, but I guess a lot of people haven't. They've only seen them on TV. Oh. Back when I was in like a teenager, I had a bunch of friends that were older, they were Cockney, and I hung out with them a lot. And I'm like, well, that just just dispelled everything I thought about English people. Yeah. Yeah, because as well, you probably only on like mainstream American TV. You probably get the Royal like the Royal family. You get a few like British like high brow British, like BBC shows where everyone speaks really well, right, I mean where I'm from. We're from like the Home Counties area, which is sort of in between. It's kind of just north of London. But a lot of people like they're like, you're not English, you don't have an English accent, You're Australian. They can't believe even we're from England because it's not this specific version of English that they've heard on TV. Oh now it's hey, and we have it here.

58 I'm talking to them about it. I'm a Ridge from New York and New Jersey. Like you guys, I can pick out what city in New Jersey or what part of New York they're in by their accident. Yeah yeah, English, I can't pick that out, but you can. Yeah, yeah, you know there's a lot of dialects in England. Though there's like so and you can only you might only be like twenty minutes apart. I know, right, it's completely different, so weird, Like okay, so I told them too. First time I was flying into Birmingham, my London friends were like, You're not gonna understand a word they say there, And I'm thinking, come on it's English. People were talking to me and I was like, can you say that in Spanish because I will not understand that to me. My grandma she moves. She she's from Italy, she moved to England maybe in a twenties when just after my dad was born. And she's got this crazy Italian Birmingham hybrid accent, and it's mental like if I'm obviously used to it now, but I forget if I'm introducing like my friends, she's still like she's she's ninety three now, she's still coming to shows, she's rocking out. She loves it. So she's meeting people all the time, but they can't understand a word she says because it's a really thick, brummy accent Birmingham accent combined with this also really thick Italian accent. I mean, there's no I haven't had anyone else who speaks like her. It's crazy.

31 It is. It is amazing. That's amaze me going around the world and realizing how many dialects and how many languages there are. It's like so weird to me. It's like how they all start yeah, yeah, you know, it's like somebody woke up spoke and one day and just start speaking like they were from Birmingham, and that's how it started. I wonder if they just decided they were like, our accent's too near this, I'm just going to start talking of weird. They just see if it. You know, you don't want to sound like that. Yeah, yeah, So what you got going on after after Shock? Well, this is the first day, first show of our run. Our tour starts tomorrow nice in San Diego.

15 And yeah, so we're here in the US for the next five weeks doing our album that came out just after the pandemic. This is like our first headline tour back since the pandemic. So it's been a while. So yeah, we're excited to get out play some play some songs we haven't played before. You know. Actually we've We've been super lucky and done some incredible supports the last two years. The last one we did, it feels like we were here literally last week. It was maybe two months ago now, with Pissed, the Veil and the used Nice insane, like the most insane tour we've ever done, the biggest tour. It was incredible. It was like those two mans are the best dudes as well, like as people just the honestly the most fun, just chill, lax dudes to hang out with.

01 On the tour, the shows were crazy popping. I met a lot of cool people on the on those shows. So it's nice to now come back and play to our fans that you know, have been with us for a while, and a lot of new fans too, So it's nice. Yeah, And you know what I mean, it's so good to hear and ours say that about other bands, because listen, if you're out on tour and the other band is assholes, that's going to be a long fricking tour. Yeah, We've we've been lucky enough to have never done a tour in the States like that. We've done a few tours in the UK where there's a band where we're like, they're not there cool and we just avoid them, but like it's annoying. But UK shows they're only like two weeks long.

43 Like, there's not a lot of places to blame in the UK, so maybe you can do you can get away with just about a three week tour, but you know, if you're if you're trying the States, it's a long old stint. Yeah, you can be on tour for eight weeks if you're on tour with the band that you don't like, Oh, that was horrible because it's boring. You don't hang out with your own band mates all the time. You see them back at home. So listen, you know, make that's what it's about for me, being on tour, seeing new places, getting to like, you know, play to new people and making new friends. And if you're a musician, you shouldn't be a dick anyway, because listen, you're all in the same boat exactly, and like, listen, you're living together for the eight weeks or whatever it is.

28 Yeah, you might as well just be cool. I mean, like, just be cool. Just be cool. So how does everybody connect you on socials? On the web by your merch all that? Just don broco on everything? Yeah, d O N B R O C O. Instagram Twitter was called X Now what's going on with that? Are we going to stay of tweeting? It'll be like X artist a spark? Yeah, what's that going to be? Like? I don't know how I was done with that one for a while. Anyway. It's how you've taken a company that already has like a brand that strong and like totally change it. Like I could understand tweaking it, but it's not even the same thing. Well, I heard that he's had X trademark for what he's obsessed. Elon's obsessed with xax FACEX, and I think his original because he made all his millions originally through selling off a portion of PayPal, he developed that. And I think I could be getting this completely wrong, But I heard that was originally called X and he still has the trademark for that. So he loves that letter.

37 He wants that to you know, he's just obsessed with it so soon. Here is las thing though, he wants to remove the ability to block anybody, what like, why do I have to be forced to listen a ship or read shit? I don't want to. If I want to block somebody, I should be able to block this. Yeah, that's you're right. Surely I think we need the revolutionary war again to be honest. Oh my god, But man, anything else you want to share with the listeners that we haven't covered, they need to know. Anything else you share that they need to know. If you haven't heard Dombroco before, come give us a listen where you know We're like an old rock band who bring a load of different ships to the table. So yeah, and come see us, come see us until we're here for the next five weeks, all across the States.

24 Nice. Well, I'm so glad you're here. It after Shaw. Thanks for being on the adventures of paint Man, my pleasure man. Thank you, Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man. I'm w for CUI Radio.
