04 Hey, you have done to censure w for Why pray you young? Whycoume America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four c y dot com. Wispoon beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here. We do it nice here at Punk Rock Bowling and I can tell you what. I'm having a hard time standing here. How'd you guys perform up there in this heat?

12 It? Honestly, it was awful. I believe that gasping for air. Right. There's a good amount of shade though, so that made it a little easier for us, but there should be. When we played it, we were shaded on the stage, which a lot of the bands like, aren't right, So you got lucky, Yeah, we got really lucky with that. But it's still hot even in the shade, you know, right now, How did how did you feel, lily us? I know that's the worst, right, it's like drenched in sweat afterwards, but that's typical. But like, it was very, very hot, and my throat was like very dry. Yeah, because it's a dry heat. So it's like it's tough, you know. And I think I bring that up because I think audiences don't realize how hard it is for you to go full out up there, and you guys do go full out, Like I feel like after the set, you probably died. Yeah, I think we all crashed for a second. I was really tired. Yeah, I's tired. Yes, we had to go in like the green room because there was like air conditioning.

20 It was so nice, and me and Ella were just like chilling in there for about an hour and I was so exhausted though, But it was worth it to play punk rock bowling obviously. Yeah right. I mean that's like I think this is kind of a mecca of festivals. Like I do festivals everywhere, but this one's like really cool because you got the bowling, you got all the club shows, takes over all of downtown Vegas. It's not just a music festival. I think for anybody that is in our genre, at least two, there's nothing better than punk rock puling. Yeah. I mean, even if you take allan over in the UK, I think this is better. Yeah. We got all the activities and stuff, as you mentioned, no doubt, and you can hide out into one of the hotels in the air conditioning if you have to, or like. One thing I love here is like I interviewed both the sub Humans and Devot in the hotel instead of out here, like in the air conditioning, nice, away from everything, and then come back out here and have a good time.

25 So who did you want to see most of all at punk rock Balling? I think we might all have a different answer for this, so I'm gonna pass the mic around. I like that honestly, Descendants because I've never seen them before and it was my first time and they fucking killed it. Right, you can say, whatever the fuck do you want. Some people are like for likes. I really love Viole and I love Gratmobile. I've been playing right now nice, so they're the background music for your yeah yeah, And I have to I have to. I have to really give it out to Vile because I saw them today at the swim and then they came the pool party and then they came over here and played like not that long after, yeah, not that long after, like an hour later, Like I left probably the same time they did to come over here and they were playing, and both are like hot like two sets hot as hell, so my hat was super off to them. Who's yours? Okay, Honestly, I'm not too sure. I love the Descendants, I've seen him before, so I wasn't like, I love Devo, also seen him before, so it's kind of like, I don't know. I'm just stoked to be here and see all the bands and really just like hang out with everybody. It's cool being backstage and seeing all your favorite artists and that that's the key too,

55 Like, I'm glad you brought that up, because festivals are not just about a band. It's about us all uniting together. It's about finding new music, It's about the whole thing. Like I hate when people are like when a band that they wanted to go see had to cancel for some reason, that's the only reason I was going to the festival. Then, don't go to a festival in their concert. You know. It's for new experiences, having fun, making friends and just hanging out. That's my opinion. How about yours? All right? I wanted to see Devo because they're like really interesting. They have an interesting sound, and I was curious to see what they would like present themselves as on stage. And they definitely delivered. They were they still do a show like ye. You would think at this stage in their career they could slide on by, but they don't. They put it all out there. And here's the funny thing. When I was a teenager, we weren't allowed to like Devo because if you were like a metal head or a hardcore punk you could like Divo. But now as you can see here, yeah, I hated that shit. You know, it was stupid as hell, Like there are so many bands I couldn't see because you're not supposed to like that band, you know. But what we saw here with Divo is at punk rock bowling is now now with I guess your generation and other generations below mine. We did it the right way and made it

26 that everybody's included. And every old school person like me that I saw was singing every song and out there in the middle of it. And they were all the same ones that I know were like, oh Divo, they're blah blah blah back in the day. So that's what's cool about today, is like you can like whoever you want. And I liked what you said about each one of you might have a different answer because that's what makes your band unique by having different influences. Sure, you know, man, I was a teenager, like everybody in the band had to like the same exact music like and I mean the same exact band, you know, And honestly, like, I think that's what makes our sound like kind of range. Like I would never know what to classify us as. I wouldn't say we're just punk rock. I wouldn't say we're anything in particular, because we all have different influences and I think we bring it to the table and that's what I love and that's I think that's what's created the ability to have so many people here for a punk rock festival, because you wouldn't have that way back.

31 Yeah, So you guys have made it to where not only is the music unique, but because there's so many bands nowadays, you have to stand out. You know, it was maybe easier way back when there was only a few bands and everybody stood out. The way you stand out is being yourself, and you guys definitely did that up on stage. Thank you. So tell me how this all happened. How do you guys happen? Well, originally the band was me and Ella and two of our friends and we just kind of started it in high school. She's kind of messing around. We had the same guitar teacher, so he kind of just put us in touch and helped us out finding our other friends, and then eventually we just kind of like became our own thing. We actually found London on Craigslist. We put up a Craigslist ad. Wow, I like that. And then we were playing with a different band that Lily was playing in. We played a few shows with them and we're like, hey, dude, like you rip come join us. Nice we took her. That's how it happens, dude.

46 That's how the legends happened. Like, for example, you take a band like Metallica, why was that their first show ever? And basically the band they kept playing with up in the Bay Area had this guitarist and that's the guitarist of Mataua. Now like they hung out their friends. I was like, dude, well you come play with the band. And that's how it happened with you guys, right ye see, And so that I think that always creates the legends. If you look at all the great legends and history, that's kind of how it happened. Same with the Beatles. Go back to the Beatles. Ringo Starr wasn't originally in the Beatles. He was just hanging around in the scene and other bands and they got friendly with him and like, hey, come play with us. So there it is.

37 So you did the right move. What are you gonna do? The top punk rock bowling? Now, what's coming after this? We have a show lined up and so we have a show in San Diego area and the city of Ocean Side. It's gonna be at this place called Poorhouse. Yeah else Yeah, we play a lot of local shows. We like to keep it tight for very cool and what about music? Tell us about the newest music? Well, yeah, I got it all right. So we are just getting ready to release a vinyl and eleven track vinyl. Right now, it's available for pre order, so you can pre order that at last Tara Records dot com. Soon we're gonna have some copies of our own to sell it shows nice and soon enough, in a few months, we're also gonna release it to streaming platforms. But as of now, we wanted to make it a vinyl exclusive thing. I love that there's two exclusives on it that you can only get with the vinyl, So we're kind of encouraging everybody to go buy our vinyl. So let me ask you, a young man like you now in twenty twenty four, what makes you so hot on doing the vinyl like that? Personally? I love collecting vinyl, Like I I own quite a few vinyl and like I still go to the record store at least like once every two weeks or so. Nice, and it's just like a good collector's item, Like I don't know, it was just it was fun to

11 choose the colors too, Like yeah, yeah, it's tangible, it's something you can keep. It's a collectors and there's only gonna be like two hundred copies of this so far, so go pre order it while you can. Again, old school, that's how it used to be. They just would release a few, they're gone, and then it became something like, oh now we gotta make more and that's what my album's big. And you didn't listen to the music at a time. You had to buy the vinyl exactly you see if you like, And it was a whole experience, you know, And I think people missed that a lot nowadays, that whole artistic experience it's not just the music, it's the artwork. It's the like you said, the tangible feeling it listening to those scratches. I think that makes a difference. Or I got to design like the whole like inside of the record and a nice like the and everything. Yep, it's a lot of work making like the inner sleeve and stuff with all the lyrics. Yes, okays a while to figure that out. Also for us, she designs all our merch our guitarists amazing, Well you you rock because I like your merch and everybody else by your merch or they can't listen to my show. So what else were you gonna say too about the vinyl? Something about the vinyl?

37 Right, yeah, well it's just you get to sit there. I know me, I used to like sit on my balcony, listen to every song, read the lyrics, look at all the images there. It is a solid fan coming by. Yeah. And also we recorded I remember now, we recorded the album in a way where it's supposed to be listened to front to back. Nice. I mean, it's the songs they went into each other like for example, like if you listen to the Dark Side of the Moon, they kind of just blend with me so funny or say that, because that's why I was gonna bring up, like the music's not like that, but like the idea. No, but you can't listen one song on Dark Side of the Moon, and if you don't know dark Side, you don't even know that it's in another song. When it's in the other song, it's just like one big song. It's a whole artistic expression. So you gotta get the vinyl to really feel the whole thing out. I love it. And what other type of things do you want to listeners to know that we haven't talked about array that they should check out for you guys, anything, Stay tuned for our actual like digital vinyl release like on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and everything, which we're hoping to release it by August, where we hope so nice, so like people can listen to it for free instead of actually like having to purchase the vinyl.

01 You know, but you got to purchase the vinyl. You still should. We're encouraging you, and I have people connect to you on your socials on your website because I did see that on your website and I love that art Yeah, we're just we're doll right on all socials. Our website is all Riot band camp. You can order all of our merch that way if you can't see us live. So yeah, And do you have any like crazy, good or bad stories so far in this musical journey that stick out in your mind. It seems like you had something. It's today one of those.

45 Yeah, that might be the one we had. We had some issues with one of the headlining bands. We cut three songs out of our set, just like a late appearance. No hate to them. It happens. Wow. So and I think we accidentally talked some ship right in front of them. Oh boy, So we got ourselves in a little bit of trouble. You know what. You wouldn't be punk rock if that didn't happen. Yeah. I think we've shown up to shows way too late too. It happens. Yeah. And you know what, when it's just hot and you're playing, you're gonna get a little more frustrated than normal. So if those bands listen, just realize it was the heat, not you. If I had to get here like at nude and then I had to play at like ten, I would just like I would be late too, right to exactly.

43 The heat brings the animals out in us, no doubt. Living in San Diego, it's like the heat is completely different, like it's more like a little more human. But it's just it's a lot cooler there. So coming here, my nose is so dry, and like my mouth, everything is so dry. It's horrible. Funny story. The first night we were here, Tamra over here, who's handling the camera, She's like, oh, I forgot to bring a hoodie. I better go get a hoodie. And I'm like, wait till tomorrow. You'll see you don't need one. And of course we had to play on the hottest day too. I know it. Today is the hottest, So kudos to you because you guys killed it. Thank you, and you didn't even look like you were hot up there. You put it all out on the stage, which is what throws do right exactly, you know, because you put it all out there instead of like I can't move, which some mans might do, you know, but you laid it all out as if the weather was perfect and everything was perfect. So that made your set perfect. And thanks for being here at Punk Rock Bowling and killing it. Thank you for having us my pleasure and thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man. Oh yeah, thank you.

56 Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Patement on w for c u I Radio.
