04 Hey, you love than too, sus Sure, I'm come from four see why you wake up America. It's time for the Adventure. So pipe Man on W four cy dot com West Palm Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, The White Man, say lasts vas also to I say son lust raises himself and flex so another miss railways friends, So do la slash? No, that's a sad, says this. It's the pipe Man here on the Adventure's pipe and W four c Y Radio and I'm the here with Devil Henchman. Nice. What a great band name. It's so hard to come up with a band name nowadays, like they're all taking that's why all the bands are like playing symbols and changing spelling. But you were able to find one. I love it. And that's all We're going to talk about your fucking band name because it's the most boring question that pressed people ask in history, How would you get your band name? But don't answer that unless it's important or a good story. Well, me and the drama of the two original members in the Buns. While we're in school, we were trying to we knew we wanted to start on metal buns and we thought, shit, we needs a name, so we has a little thing.
38 We kinds of games to go with devil centsmen. Yeah, that's so it's quite cruel for the original. So we just stuck with that, and you know it the more of all playing the music to us on the band name, and then laser Roni consents it's all fund name actually goes and we were like, yeah, it's fus nice. Now where are you from. We're all from Liverpool. So like I was gonna say, I love your accent, and I was trying to figure out if it was a good Ozzy or the Beatles, So now we know it's the Beatles kind of Hadzzy sound. But I could understand you, elliot, he was more like the Beatles.
19 He's from, let's hear it. I grew up from Oh my god, oh my god. I just like I thought I was listening to the Beatles. Talk. Let's make this a Beatles interview, like did you see by the way, there was some documentary not to get back one, but another one where Paul McCartney was with the famous producer I'm drawing blank from talking all that, yep, And I had a whole new respect for Paul McCartney and I love the Beatles, okay, it was one of my first favorite bands and Paul McCarty and he was like fanboying out on John Lennon, Like he's like sitting there and they're listening to music. He goes, you know, back then I was just up there playing with my bloke, and now I'm just sitting there going, oh my god, I was playing with John Lennon.
15 That's fucking cool. I mean it is. He's I mean, it's obviously not not like what were you doing. He's one. He's one of the best musicians of all time. I was like, I will stand by that. I like to think that's how you feel when you're sat in the room with me, thinking, wow, this spot is so everywhere. Here's a trivia question for you. Let's see if one of you can answer. It might be him because he knew. He knew right off the bat. So what why does Paul McCartney play bass? He was the guitarist or he wanted to be a guitarist, and then the other two one out they said we need a bassist. Yep, the drew stories he lost. He lost, So you know, he's a bassist now and you know, watch that documentary we were just talking about. I realized what a great freaking Bassis he was. I didn't think ever about, oh, most amazing Bassis and then after them like probably one of the best Bassis of all time. Man, he did shit that nobody does. Fuck. Then he was doing something that no one was doing really exactly. Other than people like John Entwhistle and things, there was no one who quite had that energy. I mean, I don't know if the Bassis wants to talk about bass Mutch, but I think it kind of treated it like a guitar, right, you know, yeah, exactly, which is what you should do. I think, yeah, there's there's a lot of bass runs that this guy does on the record.
41 But we were listening to it well recording, then we talked. We never knew he did that all the way up and down the neck and went there on the lower east strings, just going for it. So I want to ask you, then, you know, how do you get to bass? Because I think about Okay, so I was a kid, I played drum for nine years, sucked, played guitar, sucked, sang thrash, metal was okay, But couldn't you know I didn't use proper technique, so I couldn't last a whole fucking show. And uh, but you always kind of think people think like nobody really lakes up one morning as a kid and says, I want to play bass. You know, so I want to know you're because Paul McCartney did. I want to know your story how you became two and came to playing bass. Well, honestly, I've never really tried to learn out like a saw. I've never really given it a go.
39 I mean, Maza tried to teach you a bit when I was about five years olds. I just I mean, I was too young at the time. I was a I was a pianist for years as well, and when I was younger, I was I did like you know, classical pool and all that, but I didn't enjoy it. So one thing I was getting into like heavy metal and like, you know, death metal a lot. When I was like, you know, I was well fast eighty years olds, mattax in a music shop with the side he's a big musician himself, like he's brought me off post a musician, and he says to me, so you want to play in places like you know, rock stuffs. I don't think it's I was like, I don't know. I thought I read he want to play gus o. He was like, go about basis? I think I said him, what's a base? I wasn't really sure. Nice so he shot me down. He got me, put me in my fingers on it like that. I was like, you know what, I like this a lot. That was it really like, you know, Dodgers points me out. I was like, you know what, I enjoy it.
25 That's pretty cool about it. Really. I have another question too about Liverpool. So I'm originally from New York. You can tell in New York or forget the accent for a second, but the way they talked their facial expressions, their hand movements and stuff. You have specific facial expressions and the hand movements, is that a Liverpool thing? I don't know about facial expressions. There's there's a lot of there's a lot of words, phrases and like inflections that we've got, like there's a lot of ms and stuff like that. You know, and when you're thinking, well, I don't know about hand movements or anything like that, I don't think ready have that to me. I don't know about how movement spot scounces are very confident people that will go and talk to anybody. So I think that's a bit of a common sign if you see people chatting in a bar or whatever you think, because I did see some commonality of the only other Liver people I know, Liverpool people I know the Beatles and like you watch Paul McCartney speak and he uses his hands a certain way, his face and makes certain expressions certain way, and I even know it's why you're talking right now. And I think it has to do with the accent, because there's some words this lip goes up a little bit. Absolutely. I mean, we've definitely got a very different sounding way of speaking to the places around us, you know what I mean, Yeah, totally. I think that sucks as well as that it hurts the talk when you have this accent over a few hours and your voice starts to strain. You know. Really, we can go up on stage but yelling, screaming for hours in a practice whatever, We're fine. He sits
57 out in a bar talk to each other for five hours and we're all like, you know, struggling really, but now we're a bit harsh on We don't think that's what it is. Oh my god, that's so it helps with the shouting, though, you know, it's a bit of grit. Absolutely. The best part is we're not even vot Scouts in the ground skin. There's people with much strong reductions the way of oh well, I have have like lifelong friends. They're not and they're not with us anymore. But they were Cockney and man, I'm like, tuck, you guys are I'm a New Yorker and you guys are fucking loud. That's the one. I mean. I think it's a thing with a lot with a lot of cities, isn't it. Like Well's over. You have these big, powerful, like weird ways of speaking, and it's I'm anyone anywhere in the world and know where you're from, open your mouth, Yeah, no doubt. And then there's this parts of the city like we're talking about, because like I'm from New York and New Jersey. I can tell you what city in New Jersey they're from. I can tell you what borough in New York they're from.
58 But some my an outsider, just thinks they're from New York. I'm like, no, Manhattan doesn't sound the same as Long Island and it's the same thing in England. It's the same thing in Liverpool because the three of us were all from completely different places. And then you all do sound different. We all sound a little bit different. Some of us are more like kind of as you'd expect us to sound, you know, the whole Beatles thing, like Elliott, and then you have a voice like mine. I come from a little bit more in the middle, so I've got a bit more of a blend of both. And then you have Joe's sounds like Joe borderline scals, Yeah, we call them wolves. He's a fake is a fake scal, so I don't consider him a real one. There's a whole like politics thing I wear was the boundary and that well we say, we say he's in it. I'm about five minutes away from Lancashire, so my bin, my bins are a different color to the rest of these guys.
58 Nice it is the thing. And then it's funny. Last year when I was coming in Bloodstock, I was flying it and flying into Birmingham and my London friends were like, You're not gonna understand a word they're fucking saying, and I'm like, come on, it's English and I got off the plane and I was like, if they were speaking Spanish, I could understand that, but I don't have any fucking little They're like bla. I'm like, what it's watered? That was quite funny when you when you've got an accent like this. I'm sure maybe it's the same for you. Say we're playing the gieg in like the mid the middle of the country or someone else. I'll walk in, I'll say, all right, may where are we losing?
39 The guy was looking at me, Suck'll go what what you just what you say? See it? I was like, where do we lose? Argue? You have to really slow it down. So we have to do that in America because I'm a New Yorker, you know, and if I'm in the South, they just can't fucking think quick enough of what I was saying. We were handling a bunch of flyers out last night to advertise are set today and am so many people. I go over and go, oh, excuse me whatever, and they go what I don't go, I am in the bands, come please watch us. Oh my god. So now here's what I've always wondered. How come you guys always sound like you have no accent when you're singing. I don't know it's weird because when on insty bunds, I think it's because all the people we look up to. There's a lot of like American bands that we really aspire to be like. And I mean, but when you growl and go, you know, going, no accent there really well. But even take the Beatles, like they don't sound English when they're singing then they speaking like Oh, there's certain songs of the Beatles where if you're a scalce, you listen to it and you go, ah, it's coming through, Like yeah, that's like me. Because I retrain my voice to get rid of at New York stuff, certain words come out, and if I'm around other people that are my people, it definitely comes out. But like, there's certain words even when I try to
09 pronounce another way, I can't, like water dog Like Americans that are not in New York, they say dog, I gave it, say it the way they say it, like that makes no fucking sense. It's a dog. Rules. We have the one chicken eddie case sounds it sounds like chicken chicken, that's all we say. Kind of cock. So tell us about the set. How was it You're at Bloodstock also when incredibly well, like I said, last night, we were hands and flies. I'll say absolutely everybody we came across, and I think it kinds of waked home because the tent was really busy for us. We just like every show, we just bring our everything. We have a brilliant time from the first song. There was a mush pick going on from the start as I start, Oh, this is gonna be brilliant. There's a couple of crowds safe as early on as well, didn't we There was a man A jested what was the ai?
11 Yeah, there was a Robin in the pit. Yeah, we couldn't find Batman, but there was Robin. It's funny. Yeah, I love seeing that too. You got all these different characters that come in the pit. It's so funny sometimes. And then I wonder, how, like in Florida it's hot as shit like it was yesterday. I'm like, how are they in that, like in this pit, like they gotta be dying. Yeah, I don't. I don't envy him at all. Even though we're on stage, you know, running around growing ourselves about. We're sweating, you know, like mad. I mean we come off the stage in our heads in one big mattern things like that. You know, we we definitely don't half heart anything, but that guy, you know, he wasn't half heart at any and he was struggling out there in the fit with you know, a big suit on. So we've got to give that energy back, you know, give it to them. That's pretty metal. That is freaking metal for sure. So how did you get here? How did you get the blood stock? Well, we entered into our local Metal to the masses, Metal to the masses, bazy side. We had one heat, which our first. He was probably one of the best gigs we've ever played in terms of crowd interaction and just everything going forward. It's like we walked away from that gig at a bit of a shock. We thought it just went so much better than we could have ever ever a mine. Then we managed to get through that on crowd votes. You know, all the people in Liverpool. There's a bit of a stigma in Liverpool that it doesn't have a
43 scene. But the place was absolutely rammed. It was like nearly two hundred and fifty people in this venue. It was sold out. Yeah, on the day there was a massive queue down the road in the venue and they were saying the people away because it was just completely sold out. To see that in Liverpool was just absolutely brilliant. So love it, love it. Both Both gigs went as well as we could have imagined. We were up and getting some really like tough bands, people who were you know, close personal friends with. Liverpool's a bit of a tight community. We see them all the time, so it was a bit of rough to get to the end of that gig and see them not get through and those gets through. I mean, it's it's a bit of sweet, but it was. It was a fun experience and getting here and playing here and just it's we couldn't ask for more, Like really and what did it feel like when you found out you wont unreal? I mean by that point I was already incredibly drunk, but at the same time, yeah, as a proper English musician should be as after the sets. But now there's there's a great There's one of my favorite pictures I've ever I've ever got of me is like the four of those on stage with the announcer and we've just been announcers winning it and we're all we all just looked like on top of the whale, and it was a fantastic moment. So we went in the Lovely Nights House after it was it was crazy evening overall nice. So now, how are you going to tap this? Keep pushing. We're just gonna keep pushing. We're gonna keep
14 gigging, getting getting getting everything up, and I'm just gonna push our sounds, push our music a you where we can get it. We've actually gotten quite lucky with how this this gig is landa because we've lived. We've been in the process of writing a new album and we were like, we brought us off the single about two weeks ago, just INSI half of blood stuff nice, and we've got another one coming out in a couple of weeks. The album's coming out next month. So we're gonna try and ride the higher the minute and we've got a big, long, long show and Liverpool in October. So I think we're just gonna try and stay on something like that. So keep going, keep going. Being me and him have been slaving away writing songs, doing all of the you know, production side of it and everything, just grinding away at it. You know, this this guy in the and the drummer. They've got an ease the show play that parts leave. You know, it's their own fault for landing. How's it do?
04 Mixing? That's all. That's all I'm saying there. You go, Well, you know I'm with you because I run a radio station. I'm doing this. I kind of know how to do the audio, but nobody knows you do the audio. Yeah, we thought it was a good idea. I like doing the album also, I know halfway into it now that the recordings then we've got to stop mixing. We're like, this is a lot of way. Yeah, it is right, you know, we'll have every minute of it. Really, that's what we complain about, being busy, but it's brilliant. We need to. Yeah, and that's why people need to support bands by buying their merch because you don't make dick off the music. And because of that, because people don't realize how hard artists work to give you the pleasure of that music. It's you know, they think it's just all fun and games, and when you get up on stage, that's the fun. One final result of all the rest of the bullshit you don't want to do and don't have to do. Kind of like doing interviews because most interviews the boringest shit. So if I if I was an artist, this one's been pretty good though I've enjoying it. I'm glad to hear that's best compliment I could ever get, because I know, if I was an artist, I want to slip my throat after doing the interviews in the press room because I hear some of them not here to really get here, but other festivals I do. I hear some of these fress people. I'm like, oh god, if I was the artist, I'd slip my throat right now. It was the most boring ship. You can't be boring doing an interview about metal, Like what the fuck? Okay, stories, shit,
41 that's some list show up. Yeah, you're here at Bloodstock. How did you get here? But but I mean, how did you drive here? Or did you fly? Or did you take a bus or a train? And if so, how much did it cost you? We don't want to say anything. We might be answering them questions a bit later today, So I know, right, no, this interview has been great. We like we just like having to sit down on the chest is the only way it should be. Definitely, you know, and then it takes a life of its own. So now the last thing I'm gonna doude looking at your arms. I haven't seen anything on them yet because their sleeves are down.
25 But tell me about your tattoos. That one is really cool. That's like SpongeBob cut in half, eyeball in the pocket. Everyone everyone looks at this one and says a different thing. But it's an eyeball floating in a plastic bag. Nice. Oh yeah, it's like yeah, melon heads on there. It's a Tim Burton character. Another one there, mummy boy. But this whole arm I've been getting done by one artistic. Just found someone local and Liverpool called ash Tattoo and she's she's great, loads of little designs. This will the side. I can tell that's another artist. Yeah, this one was my first one. It was around eight hours so wow, it's a bit heavy, but no, it's good. I'm it's an astronaute, a dead astronaute. These skulls floating around in space and there's all like I saw the skull. I didn't see the astronaut until you said, and then I saw it. Yeah, like I saw this bottom part, but I didn't I wasn't really focused on the top part. That's pretty cool. It's all worth it. When you get on stage, you know, you can pull your your long sleep or halfway, you know, see all your tattoos other things. The ones that I got done first were all the ones that you could see, you know, while guitar. Right, so this side, you know, you can see it when I'm grasping the guitar, you can view it. And then this one this this bone coming down my arm, you can see that when I'm like picking down on the Yeah, it's almost like that's playing the guitar. Yeah, just stabbing the guitar with me
56 with the bone. Yeah. I bet you feel really cool. I do feel very cool. I can't. I can't lie. I do feel very And how about you two? Do you have tats? Nope? No yet? No really, I mean I'm not against it, but there's just nothing there anyone, you know what I mean. That's a big two. I used to be against someone's younger, but tattoos are so normal now. They weren't normal while it's younger. And but now even now I'm like, oh, if I'm gonna get tattoo, it's something that I know I'm gonna really want and I haven't figured out something I really would want permanently on my body. Yeah, I mean I had the same back and forth with my moment when I said, you know, I'm going to get a tattoo, she said, oh, you know, you're gonna get it off on your shoulder so you can hide it if you go get a job. Now, I've got it on the farm of you know, big skull right there where everyone could see it. You know, no office is gonna hire of me.
49 I'm I'm in here now. Yet you're forced. You have to be a successful musician. You have no other choice, no other choice. So there you go. And so I can't read that one, and I should be able to, says full of hell. Oh okay, so you're the odd man out because both of them are playing are wearing shirts of bands playing at the festival. True, So this funs like very noisy death metal, violent death metally because you're gonna really read the logos, and now you said it, I can read it. Yeah, Jesus is like dying on the front of the sea. You know they're having to go time. I like it.
33 It's a cool shirt. Actually, Oh my ship we got Gate Creeper. All sets actually clashed exactly with Gay Creepers today, so I didn't get to see them, which I was very obsessible. Well, you know what's funny about that, It's because I really wanted to see Sacred right and then look up there. So it got switched and I was all excited because Sacred first time I didn't have interview set. I'm like, Okay, I'll sneak out there, and then it got switched and that was my busiest hour, so I was like, ah, but I did get to hear Gate Creeper from here, and then I was finishing interview and the photographer behind me, who I'm friends with, I heard, like the drumming. I'm like, who's playing right now? They sound good? And it was Sacred Reich we we am as we were walking up here. Before I was walking down, I've seen chased from Gate Creeper. I have a Gate Creeper long Sea blah, oh God, don't don't find boy be cruel, and I was.
38 I was on the duty of taking all of our march over to the merch down Dahlia, carrying these two big boxes full of T shirts, and I just saw the entirety of Gate Creeper bok past me, and I thought, I'm like pouring with sweat carrying these boxes and like the rage and heat. I thought, I've gotta say something. I'm gonna talk to them. I liked us about too much. They probably thought it was this. You know, Dick had the fun Boy just over be like, I'm sorry, I can't watch them, but I mean we had them a little bit while we were loading our gear on. That's why you guys say the people like that like, let's you can fan blay out, but you can back it up by saying, yeah, I just want to say something because you guys are playing at the same time as us. I'm very sad that I'm I can't see you, but I am clushing with you, which is it's it's nice to say I couldn't watch gate Creeper because I was playing at the same time as great say, that's what we've been telling all lot of friends. Anyway, right there you go. Time we clash with gate Creeper, but like gate Creeper, Yeah, fucking gate Creeper nice and you know it's funny.
40 But uh, speaking of like those kind of moments, I an interview at Download and an interview today with band members that never showed their face and they were in here without anything, and it's so fun when you're interviewing these people in no way in the press area knows who they are, Like I don't download. I was interviewing Blowthar from Guar and literally the guys saying right across from me, and he was bloth. Art was having fun with it because he was doing the blowth Are voice. So he goes there were gummies.
21 He goes, hey, I have those companies over there. Give me those gummy still had no clue who it was. I interviewed Garha here. I can't pronounce it the right way because I'm not Portuguese. This is a funny story. I was sitting there, the interview wasn't here yet, and so I was told, yeah, they never go anywhere without the hoods on. And so I walked past these people. One of them was a female and she was like right here, I'm like, excuse me, and I'll walk out there to see if I can see them out there. That was them.
03 So yeah, you could played that role too, a gatekeeper. You could play we have we're the opposite. We don't have any pistodas on stage or anything. We just we go up on stage with what we wear in public, you know, and we just go as hard as we can. You know. It's see. But you can mess with people and you could be like, yeah, you could be like acting like both ours, like hey, what what's stage? You guys played on? We're we're playing on this bit, or you could be like large and well, you know, we're could be playing but you hope Napster's not here. I mean the whole thing we'll cover on the face off. I think our faces are all a bit too pretty to cover on family see see now. On the other hand, I've been thinking about lately because I'm fifty six years old. I'm like, you know, I should start a band again. Put masks on, get the egg and then pull the mask off and go ha ha. Fuckers were old men. I don't think it any wile to tell though. I mean, we did the gig with dr Right oh, my favorite all time ever brands. Those guys go really oh yeah, I mean I just saw them recently near me. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh fuck.
18 I like Spikey doesn't he doesn't hold back on stage. You know he's we I mean we came off stage pouring the sweat. We only did say aty minutes. They did an hour and a half. Those guys, we're old school and you fucking young people don't know how to do it. Because I'll tell you why I say that. So a few years back, I was doing Welcome to Rockville, which is in Florida. Brought my daughter and her she brought her boyfriend and he brought two friends. These three dudes are twenty year old dudes that like are buff and shit and uh, slip knots headlining.
59 So we all together enter it into the crowd and go into the pit and it was one of those slipknot pits where they'll have like ten pits that just mold into one at one point. Yeah, and it's just one big, massive pit. At the end of the show, I'm like skipping out of the pit and I see her boyfriend and the two friends literally bent over and they left the show like a few songs into it, like because they were already done. I'm like, the fuck is wrong with you people. I'm in my fifties, I think it I knows yet, late forties.
41 I'm like and I'm skipping out of a pit. And they even said something, They're like, how you skipping out of a pit, And I'm like, what the fuck is wrong with you? You're twenty you should be skipping out of a pit too, while you sitting there acting like you're dying. One thing about we try and do, like live is always put in as much as we physically can. Because when you see like bands our age who are coming up trying to get some movement going, and they're just standing there playing their instruments on stage, not putting any effort in, we come off stage looking pristine, you know, the hairs still immaculate and everything. We come off stage looking like we have, you know, been in the Wars. It should be. Yeah, And you know, I think if we put in that effort, then hopefully those people in the pit are actually you know, reasoned by the end of it, not skip it out. Put I mean, I'm sure you could handle it perfectly well, I'd imagine you would. I'm still going the pit and I've had two heart attacks, and I last month or not last month June at download yeah you know who headline download right slipnot bring me? And two Knights have mentality. Yeah, we were there. I was in all four pits after doing interviews all day.
51 We probably would have knocked into the other than probably probably I was right, you know, like I was like behind the little walkway where you couldn't get to the front area. It's a pit right behind Dead Center, That's where I was. Yeah, we definitely knocked it to you one, I'm sure. Yeah, but you know, like it's fun times. I only live once, right, Yeah. One of the things we've always though is how can we expect people to be running around and sweating when we're playing our shows If we're not running around the sweat exactly, So it's gotta be one hundred percent you can try and expect that fuck off the crowds. And I think that it's the way it's got to be. It's got It's a great thing as well, if you if you're given it all you can and you tell on the crowd to do it, most of the time they will like you know, you put energy and they will just evercase it. But as well, you know they've given you half an hour of that time, you gotta put a fucking showing up on you. I'm just gonna call you John from now on. But I was gonna ask you, as basis, are you running around too? Because it always makes me laugh, like everybody's righting around the basins, sitting in the back hiding. I mean, I I like to think I put quite a lot into the air. They make fun of you, don't they. I don't think they do. I think it's all that it's say. I said a lot a lot of base players, there's a tendency, but people on my instruments are kind of hanging back a bit, and I said, I'd said them, fuck that. You're on the fronts as well, jump up there. I mean at t R I.
22 The other day I was on some guys shows and the purse nice, you know, like I'll give give him you could probably give another. People often use the word possessed to describe his actions on Nice to say right there that now he's got kudos for being a basis that actually, you know, gets into it. He's a very nimble, possessed man on the base. He's not doing what we're doing, but he's somehow, he's somehow putting in more efforts with the head banging, you know, like from on ourselves around the stage. Elliot's over there doing like gymnastics with this bass while head banging, and just I don't even know how to describe it. To describe the last couple of gigs, we's one to say. I know, the got kicked in the head by Eliers for a start all the last shows we's done.
21 He came over and we were we were bumputing into each other and whatever, and my hair got stuck around his head stock on his guitar and he had to unwind my hair from his show in the back, and I thought, like, what's going on. I'm glad I'm on the opposite side to him because we don't we don't meet up that often. You know, if I'm playing on a small stage, I'm I'm safe from away and I've got a buffer. Joe gets to take all of it. I think we gave him a goal. Now from now on, he's gonna come over. Oh yeah, I'm gonna I'm just gonna go and kick him. Honestly. I mean, I like, towards the end of the shot, we tends to like, you know, get together in the middle of and he's doing his shoulder at the belly ends and just like doing like no it's not like a proplemshop. I'm just bounce off him, you know what I mean, box of what kind of stuff that's quite hard. He's like about cheven eight inches bigger than I am, so I've got to like probably lead into it. It's usually the big dudes that get taken out the easiest. And the pit though, oh yeah, if at least' smack it to be in the pit, I'm going to fly right, There's no way I don't agree. So at the slip knot pit at download and that's not the first time it's happened.
28 But you know, I'm media so well, I'm in the pit. I'm filming for media purposes. Like if I was just doing a show like not working, I wouldn't do that. I do it and boom, I got pegged and the phone and flying in the air, smash being the nose and then it's going flying on the ground and I like dove and caught it mid air before it hit the ground. That's that's pretty cool. I have another one. It's actually about a band who's playing this weekend, Knocked Loose. I was like a different festival where there was no barrier and so people had the opportunity to get up on the stage jump off, and me and Joe were at the festival and watching another band Terror before. We thought, you know, we'll just get up there jump and then as knock Louis came around and we've done it a few times, gone back into the forwards jumping, people were catching. Was all fine, everyone was safe. And then there this one time I jumped off and just the crowd just parted. There was no one there. Supposedly there was one guy there, but I just landed square on the ass. I got off, but I can't can you top that? So it was a show back in the eighties that I told my kids that I was known as like a legend in La Medal. And you know when you tell your kids stories, they think you're full of shit.
55 But I got proof because I didn't interview with the band member recently I was close friends with for years and we talked about it in the interview and he's the one that said yeah. So I climbed up onto the top of a Marshall stack. Security was coming. I took the full swan dive mid air. The crowd moved, the parting of the Red Sea and I went teeth first into the floor. That's a bridge. There's no teeth. I know about the pain. I've knocked out me from teeth two times lately. I'm sure I'll have boyd the future. Well, it was funny till you mentioned pain, because at first my adrenaline was so pumped from the show that I am feeling anything. And then we're driving to the hospital and I had my head out the window and then one second the wind hit my mouth. I was like, the worst fucking pain ever. Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about, right. What it was Putty and the Dr Right show that we played a few days ago. This one guy, he was in the pit for Dr next minute he gets up on stage to Stave Jimes.
05 His face is full just red, all blood dripping off down on the stage and everything, and he got like taken away by security, you know, cats on stage tand around the one. Oh you know that guy was bonded by blood, wasn't he go? Yeah, we actually saw him wondering around here and it turned around where you Okay, you know you're feeling all right after a head injury and then two days later off to a festival. But he's still trooping. I can show you a message in my Facebook from my bro that was there that night that happened, and he actually grabbed my teeth put him on ice. He plays in band, he played on He plays a few bands, but for a lot of years now. But he grabs my teeth, puts him on ice. Then this girl we are with after the show, she was all thirsty entire she went to go drinking. No, that's Dean's teeth. But here's a good story by other bro. We're a Slayer gig and he was tripping on acid. So what he kept doing was he kept getting well. He started by getting up on the stage and then jumping off. Security throw him out, yea. He went around behind the club, went in the back door and ran up on the state.
20 He did like ten times. They kept kicking him out, but he was on acid, so he didn't give a fuck about nothing, and he was He just kept on going around and running on through the stage and diving in. I mean, you know, I'm sure he's up in the time of his life, no doubt. I mean the time of my life. Having that memory of him doing it. I've already seen Slayer once, but it was their last UK show. It's one of the best gigs I've ever seen. I was at their first show ever. Yeah really yep. Metallicus too, yep. And I was at the second and last Slayer show ever because the publicist was like, you would be a good story to do media for it because you were at their first show and you'll be at like their last.
06 It was like in Oakland. The last one was LA but Oakland went second last one. I'm like, yeah, I'll do Oakland because that's Bay Area that that would be a great way to end it. So it's so Slay, I gave you a jobs the ways say. Probably it started with the It started with Kissed. I was kissing the beetles. Then it went to Zeppelin, then it went to Iron Maiden, then it went to Slayer. That was the progression because when I started listening to Iron Maiden, that was the heaviest shit there was. Oh, Black Sabbath before that, and that was the heaviest shit there was. So I went through the whole progression of what you guys are doing right now. I mean, being a thrushbon or on the angriest side. You know, we looked at Slayers like the gods of this craft. You know, if we ever amount to that, it would be you know, it would be a dream. There's no way, you know, they just do it. Fuck it, they retired.
05 You need to take that. We could be the next. It's like me and Joey always say, like certain buns that fits a mood and settain buns that don't. Anytime Slayer comes on, it's like it's just Slam that just ao your second band. Today it's say wrong, it's fucking Slayer. I'm not going to scream it like that in this place, you know not. The volume of my vocals, Oh, you wouldn't believe the band I had before was so loud. The whole place was looking but they were all looking like who's this? No eyes open some some for brixlet some face. But yeah, you can do it if you want, because they like the attention around here. We don't want to be when anyone else's interviews showing, right right, So any uh, last words for our listeners here, and make sure again put out your socials and all that stuff too. Yeah, that is Devil's henchmen on everything new single Grimmish out now, all platforms on that video online coming to a show, getting the pit calls some fucking I am, I'm well, we'll give a box to you. Nice great last words.
