04 Hey, you have done to censure? Wow crazy you why become America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four c HY dot com. West pomp Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, The White Man bottles out the window one more to take me through the snowy John Joab console. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. I'm here with Devil's Cut, Nice, Ray and Zach Nice. You're an aftershock, yes, sir, and your partner in crime here is bumming me out. Okay, because he's wearing a shirt of a band that was gonna play. Oh I know, Oh my god, you're bumming me up. I know. Well they did. Now, well, well we they did Louder than Life. They didn't cancel that.
15 We know they were loud. That was awesome that they sounded so good. Yeah, it was a good set. I've seen them a few times, alay and like, I was one of those people before it happened. I'm like, yeah, I don't know about this, you know, and uh really should be done. But then I watched it and I was like, man, they did do the Brothers right, and you know, they paid good tribute. Well you look who replaced you know, like who's the replacement? I mean they would have wanted it that way, if any like even from the grave, those are who they would have probably have chosen themselves, you know what I mean. And so let's talk about you guys though, let's do it. What is a cut of the dem so if okay?
01 So what it is is, are you familiar with bourbon? Like the process of bourbon? Like? Yeah, so that's right, dude, dude, Kentucky boys, we love, we love bourbon. But the barrel absorbs some of the liquor. It's part of the process. What the barrel absorbs is called the Devil's cute. And I was even looking for how you got your band name because I hate that fucking question. But no, that might off the base. Ever thought of that though, It's really cool. It's a cool comment. Glad you answered that way, because like you know, people are going to assume and nobody, I don't think unless you're from Kentucky. Yeah, figure it out. It's like Jim Beams Devil's cut, I mean, more or less is what we were named after was Jim Games like that, that whole brand and everything, and that bourbon's pretty harsh, it is it is. It's fucking rough. Brother. Well, you know what, now you definitely have to be like their band to make your own bourbon, because like, how could you not well, I mean, we're already devil Scout. Unless Jim Beam will give us the endorsement. Jim Beam give us the endorsement. We totally would love that. Yeah, there, just thrown it out there to the gods, Jim Beam. I'm not drinking you unless you let make them an endorsement. Goddamn right, Kentucky boys being here in California after shock, it's wild, man, like, just the whole process, the drive here. Obviously we are a long ways from home, far
31 from the south, but like we do a shtick for like dal Earnheart, I mean as big in the south further west we have gotten. It is dissipated. Like the response for Dinan is like, why why are you? Why are you? Why do you want a chant for Dilan? Go back to the East coast. We praise him like it is just oh, I live in South Florida, you know, oh, you already know. So when we did rock we did Rockville, we got to have on the turn. He died at Daytona International State when that that was bad as to drive on that Wow, dude, just especially in NASCAR, fans be like, oh my god, like this is worth I never imagine like that wall that they go up like fucking Hey, what I heard is you gotta drive like fifty five miles per hour or you are tumbling off that wall. Oh for sure. You just really don't realize how step it is until you're actually faced with it. Yeah, you know what I did? So because it's near home for me, I drove up in my jeep and I had my skateboard in the jeep. So I was telling the person that runs media, I'm like, uh, do you think I'll get in trouble if I go take my skateboard and go ride it on the speedway on the on the wall.
41 And I'm like, yeah, I won't do it till the end because I'm probably gonna break my every bone and i won't be able to do interviews. So I'll wait till I'm done with the interviews. Did you get to do it? I didn't do it, oh man. She's like, yeah, you probably would. I'm like, oh, okay, Well, as long as it was videotaped, it would have been worth it, right, Oh, it would have totally been worth absolutely yeah. I might just do it like one day, like just drive up there and like sneak in, jump the fence. But now I have a credentials that, you know, because when you don't have credentials, you don't get in trouble. Tony. When you have credentials, you get in trouble and it's not as fun though, I know. Just get it on the tactic, right. I had to do that for a major. He's when I say that you know what you should do? That should be the whole formula of your TikTok. It's just you go on there and keep saying tactic Cody ash Wild, I love you.
33 We gotta do this here toctic okay. And that's how I feel about doing them right, the fucking tactic. You know what content? I have like five hundred drafts of my TikTok because I'm like fucking a, I don't have eight hours of time to do a one minute video. Like seriously, it's a lot of work to do those little toctics. That is the crazy. You have to be up to par with TikTok or you just kind of singing, you know exactly. It is definitely a different generation. Or all you have to do is solve Rubik's cubes and you get millions of followers. Because that's what my daughter's boyfriend did. I chose the wrong career right, Like it was so funny too, because he's like twenty six years old, zam marine. He's solving these TikTok and these uh cubes on TikTok and it's boiling up and he knows nothing about social media. And then he did go into a uh like competition. Guess guess who was the oldest he was.
41 No, there wasn't a bit over eighteen besides him, No way, Yeah, Victor by default, I know, right, he had to like I'll beat your ass kid, you know. So, what's the craziest story in your musical journey so far that you can say? I don't know, man, it's all been pretty pretty wild. I mean probably like most surreal. Like our our manager drums for Jelly Roll so nice. So when we first started our the Jelly Studio was our studio, so like we did all of our early songs, all of our tracking in Jelly studio. His wife's upstairs doing her podcast, but like just going in there, like jelly Roll's fucking huge now, Like I mean, he's like a household name doing arenas and all this shit, but probably just being in that setting around the whole Jelly Roll camp, open arms, sweetest fucking people you could ever imagine, the entire band Jelly Roll every but they're like his brains come in brother, like he's the studio blah blah. Like that was pretty unreal, you know, like that. I love him. He's like the greatest guy. Okay, And I've interviewed him for a long time, and what's cool is now he's like super big, like you said, and hillston't still the same guy, still coming in Preston. He'll yell across prest bye. Man. He tells her he's the only one I've ever interviewed my daughter. She was a better interview than him. I just kind of say, I love it, man, But he literally what I what I respect so much about him is the
13 fact that, yeah he's huge now, it's still the same dude. Has not changed the way you see online and everything is him genuinely. Yeah, And he's just the most like coolest dude, you know, straight up dude. He's just enjoying the ride. That's right, you know, that's all you can do. That's life, you know. But he is literally that guy and perfect example to me. He's a role model to anybody who wants to get in music, because if anybody had any barricades whatsoever, it's him. Yeah, And look he's charting in what five different genres, but that's more or less. Even our whole idea for our project was to be able to have a song that could maybe be on country radio. You do, right, But now you got Jelly Roll doing it. You got Hearty doing it. Like it's that verrier between country music and hard rock is very much so like non existent anymore. It's like got five Finger Death Punch touring with Bratley Gilbert. Yeah, like you got Carrie Underwood touring with Guns N' Roses.
09 You know. Like it's like really skewed right now. And I fucking love it. I love it too. And the reason I love it is I come from the time where I couldn't go to punk shows because I had long hair, you know, or you had to only like this and nothing else. And that's bullshit. Fuck that. You know. I have different likes, different pleasures. And you know what, if I could see like Blake Shelton with Slayer, I'd be happy. That would actually be sicker and shit, right, dude, I'd be there. That's why I'm getting out with country boys, love metal right vice versa, so it all goes hand in hand. So I mean, like you really the line is not that you know it is there, but it's shouldn't be. It makes sense and it doesn't have to be. No, it don't. But I do agree with you. My younger years, I was an assho. I was like, oh, it's not what I like. I don't like it and doesn't it but like, of course as we get older, no, man, music is awesome. You like many different genres, so many different everything.
11 It's like there's something to take from everything. Well that's like I'm a told Slayer fan or anything like that, you know, or even heavier. And I also love me some Hank Junior Yep, hell yeah, right, you're talking his language. I saw him live and I was like wow. And then I've seen Hank three live too, and it's like, you know that's completely different. Show that one, right, and then Hank Senior like all three, it's like completely different. You know, what was really cool is I think it was it was either Louder or Bourbon one year and Bourban beyond.
52 Then who was it that performed? Uh fuck, I can't believe I'm drawing black Fried Chicken, Guy Fried Chicken, guy, buckethead, no Fried Chicken on and blah blah blah. Oh zach Man, I was like, holy shit, I'm loving this dude. He was playing all kinds of different ship like he was playing metal, he was playing it. I was like, this dude, is fucking good that it was just a party. It was cool. That's what people that are like the gatekeepers, they don't see that because they're too busy just looking at what they want to look at.
33 You know, I think, like anything in life that we're experiencing now, look at all sides, man, don't just form an opinion based on one thing. Look at all sides and develop it. And why should you only like one music? That's stupid? You know well, I mean like you bring up the heavy metal stuff too. There's so many people like leaving metal and playing country. Like Pablo drummer of Chelsea Grin. He plays for John Langson now Cody our manager Jelly Roll, but he was in Soalar. There's just so many people making that jump. Well ship Jack from Sleeping with Sirens, that's the guitars of Jelly Roll. You know. People are just making that leap because country is sick and it's just like it's okay to like country and like it just I don't know, you just see so many people just kind of slotting over heads. Man. Yeah, I think to your point before about how it's changing and how it changed and the borders are going away, I think what did that was when you had new country that sounded like rock. Like to me, Miranda Lambert, is it sounds like lead a Ford. You're not wrong, you know, and even like you take what's her name? Gretchen Wilson fucking loved her and I am. I'm a Yankee man, and I still love Gretchen Wilson awesome, you know legend. So he takes it and then like Blake Shellton, I mentioned him because I did a live broadcast of one of his concerts. Oh hell yeah, And so eight o'clock in the morning he comes out of it to her bus, his cup comes to our trailer hanging out and he was just the coolest, funniest
07 character ever. Never got to meet that cabot. He does seem like a genuine He's exactly who you see on the voice, like exactly like he just like and just so down to earth. And then look he's with Gwen Stefani, who would figure good for him? Right? Like people are like, you know, to me, like they you say him and Miranda were the power couple. I think him and Gwen are the power couple. Why because you're bringing the two genres together absolutely, I mean honestly really right, it's valid point. Yeah you know, yep, sou who else is your favorite?
48 As far as like like music, Ya don't judge. I love same Hunt. I love Morgan Wine. We actually did a song that we're hopefully gonna release here soon with Luke the basis of Morgan Wine, Bailey Zimmerman Sick love Him Ship God, I got put on the spot. How about him? Uh yeah, yeah, well we know pan Terror might be one. Well lately, man, I've been, like anything, I've been going back to my roots. I was raising like a blues household. So I've been listening to like a lot of mighty, Sam McClean, going back to BB king a lot of s r V and I've just been getting in touch with my roots again. You know who I love? Larkin Poe. Larkin Poe.
31 Have you heard that? Yes, my dad just showed me him. Not that long. I interviewed them at Bourbon Beyond years ago before they saw getting big, and I didn't know who they were, and I went out to their set. I'm like, oh my fucking god, I love them. They were very good. They freaking ripped, dude. And she plays the uh the steel you know, the lap guitar. Badass, Yeah, badass. I also like where I live. I live on this island, South Florida. At the park, like literally two blocks from me there is they have like every weekend a bluegrass thing going on, and I dig me some bluegrass. Those are the real musicians, right, It's crazy bluegrass guys.
15 Yeah, you like sitting in the middle of the woods and like just jamming. Right. All they need is a washboard and a Canna dip and send them on their way, dude, right, right, exactly? So what else do you want the listeners to know about you guys and your music? I mean, just check us out, man. I mean we're we're still we're still grinding. We're not big, you know, like we're doing We're doing the circuits like anyone else. But just give us a listen, give us a look. We're on all platforms, all media's, we're on the toc Tic, we're on Instagram, We're on the whole nine. So I mean, just like just look us up and give us a listen and hopefully like it. Man, do you have some like crazy Kentucky TikTok that you've done? I mean, honestly, we're we're just kind of like as we are is just how we are on that. So it's like that there's one TikTok we did that. It's like how to shotgun a beer? You know, just like ship like that, like like bring it back to where we're from, because like back home, like yeah, we shot gun beers all the time. Granted we cannot shotgun plastic cups, but here we are, we could dry. We could figure it out. Now here's the question.
21 Can you open a beer with a lighter? Yes, I can. I can open it with anything. There you go, okay that I could do it with your teethmore. Yeah, that's not a good move. No, no, was it you though they could do that? Someone in this band? How the hell are you doing a pack of cigarettes? They gotta be a fresh pack, don't. Oh yeah, there you go. There that makes sense. I was gonna say, otherwise you have no cigarettes left, they get crushed ingenuity man, because you know why I said, I was very surprised that later in life had so many people asking me to open their beer because I was open at my lighter and they were all like a maze, like, how you doing that? Not everyone could do it?
03 Not everyone could do it. Yeah. Yeah, it is a technique, but it's not hard. No, not at all. No, it's just a matter of trying, you know. And you gotta learn how to not poke somebody's eye out, you know, because that can happen. You know. That's why I wear my sunglasses when I'm doing it. Got the beer goggles right there, dude, no doubt. Tell you. How does everybody connect you guys on socials, on the web, by your merch check out all your ship Yeah, more or less, we're all connected. Link tree it you'll find it on any of our platforms. It'll connect you from A to Z. Nice and thanks for being on the adventures. It's been fun. Man. See I love hearing that. That's the best thing I could ever hear, because between me and you, Press is fucking boring. Ship for artists, man, No, man, everyone's different. Like it's just it's just fun. It's just fun to cut up, you know. There you go. That's the way it should be. No script, no notes, just talk about ship that don't even matter. Back home, we call that shooting and the ship. That's right, So are we shooting the ship right now? We're shooting the ship, been shooting. We're shooting the goddamn ship. On that tick, man, getting that talk tip, I'll tell you what, brother, On that talk tip, I will tell you that as a Yankee, I cannot fucking say Littleville the right way. No one can. We we can't. I grew up saying Louisville and that's like really sticks in my head. And then I try so hard, I go little and I sound like a fucking So here's the key you need to get marbles.
34 Put it in your mouth. And you're not the first saying that. Somebody else was like gave me that same advice. I like, well, now I know that must be true, No one does it right? Tomato tomato, there it is. And then do you see that ladder in life on the stage, they have all the different pronunciations. Yes, yes, there's actually downtown Louisville. There is a there's a sign that it's infants too, it's it's yeah. Does that shows the different variations on how I say that. It makes me like, really, who's right and who's wrong? No one knows it is. And I think it's done that way just to funk with us Yankees because we can't say it. Probably maybe maybe I think that's what you have to speak to the that's right. See you just said really well right there, like yeah, you said great. You know I can't do that, but hey, that's why you're the artist and I'm just talking. You're the pipe man, brother, I am the pipe man.
34 That's right. And you have been on the Adventures of pipe Man. Hell yeah, thank you, thank you for listening to the Adventures of pipe Man on w for c u I Radio.
