04 Hey, you have done too. Yes, that's true. I'm w for see wow crazy you. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures of Pipe Man W four C Y Radio, and I'm here. With I'm Joe from Devil Husk and I'm Keeno from Double Husk. Nice here at bloodstock Man. How awesome is that? I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty cool. I've been coming to this festival for a few years. I love it, so to like play here is kind of like a dream come true. It's really cool. I don't really go to festivals. This is my first, like proper big one, and I get to come for free, so I'm double excited. Right.

44 That's always better when it's. Free, exactly. That's the way I like it. It's a lot more fun that way. Yeah. I get to feel like I'm not wasting any money because I didn't spend any money. I could do whatever the fuck I feel like. There you go. I love it. I love it. So tell her about you guys for our listeners. I have never heard you. How would you describe yourself as artists and now I mean genre label bullshit? How you view yourself as an artist? Confused with direction? I think the good way of putting it. We pull a lot from everywhere and channel it all into one big concentrated pile of something that we're not really sure what's a cool, but it works. It seems to get a response no matter what.

27 I think it works better in this day and age because it's like I find a lot of bands are using a formula and they have one influence that may just it all sounds the same. I think you need that uniqueness of just whatever happens. If you're artists, it should be that way. It's like one of the interviews I did earlier, it is like whatever vibe we're feeling, and I agree with that absolutely. I think that we don't really there's not another band that we can directly say, oh, yeah, we sun like this band. If you like this band, you. Will guaranteed like us, because it's not don't We don't sound exactly like anyone else. Unfortunately, Fortunately it's a good thing. It's unique. I think it also means. That kind of hard to tell people like, yeah, if you like this, you like us too, because it's like it's a litmus.

10 I don't even like that comparison because then you go in with this mindset to the show or to listening to music, and you're like, well, they don't really sound like them, man, Yeah. You're immediately in your head you're just comparing them to the other band. You're not viewing them on their own merits. Right. It's like bands that do cover songs but don't change it at all. Yeah. No, that's a terrible crime. You're never gonna do it as good as the originally. Yeah, there's no sense in just doing the same thing exactly. Do a cover, but make it a different song. Make it you, Yeah, bring your own vibe into it. Or we we're not doing it this weekend, but we we. Have a cover of Roots. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't sound like Roots by several Tora.

52 It's a totally different vibe. And it's just one of those things, well for the fun, because we're all like sepul To, but Simple Tour sounds nothing like what we sound like, so let's make it work for us. Oh yeah, I love that. Because basically then they're liking a song without even knowing that it was another song. Yeah. Like it's like a ninja in there, Like, yeah, you have no idea where this came from, and if you do you appreciate the nod, Like. What's like beginning Metallica, most of their songs were like diamond Head songs. Yeah, you know, they're all like diamond Head Rather, I didn't know they were diamond Head songs till later, and I was there for the beginning of Metallica, and so it was just Metallica.

37 And that's the way it should be. Gotta make it your own otherwise people are always going to compare it. Yeah, always. I think I think people are going to do that anyway. Yeah. I think if people have a hard time immediately comparing you to something that means that you're going to be, you'll stick out like a sore thumb. They'll be like, I don't really know how to describe this band, so they don't think of anyone else when they think of you. They just think of. You, and they'll give you a shot because they don't know at first, Like if you do it exactly like the other band, they'll listen to the first few notes and like nah. Sometimes, especially if they're going into it with preconceived notions of what. They think you should be. Total, that's that that ruins the fun of it.

18 I think it works it's working for us, and we don't ever like say like we're similar to this band, because every time someone said, ah, you really remind me of so and so, it's always been like you're Everyone that said it to us has said bands that sound completely different from one another. So it's like, okay, so we're definitely doing something that like no one, not even us, can like pinpoint where it's like matched in, which is nice, Like the sounds like we're more original. Like it's just it's nice to have people like compare us to really cool bands. Yeah, but none of those bands are the same. Yeah, it's not a matter of us trying to claim like an air of uniqueness. It's I don't know, it's just the way it is. That's just how it's come about.

03 And yeah, it's working for us. It makes it more fun. It means whenever we go into writing something, fucking we don't know what it's gonna sound like half the time. That's cool. I love it. So what tell us about the road to Bloodstock? How did you get here? It was, Yeah, it was just through metals to the masses. And we talked about this with other people a little bit. It's like we went into the melt to the masses ornament, just wanting to play some shows in our local scene to make to like build like a little bit of a following, have people that we know like like us. And it kind of very quickly turned into more than that. Yeah, because they these same people were consistently coming back to see us, and they were wearing our shirts and they were supporting us. We're like this, we got like a chance of winning.

46 And we didn't go into it with like, oh we got we we have to win it. If we don't win, there's no point. That wasn't the goal. We just wanted to play some six shows. It was like we went in going, yeah, we'll get some like we'll play in front of some people and hopefully it's cool and then I'll know we're through to the next round. Okay, Well it's another opportunity. That was a good lucky. Break for us, Like let's do it again, like I know we're through again, Oh okay, okay, and then oh we've won. Damn, we need to buy more T shirts. Like we've run out now. I love the hands back in pockets to put money in the band, like yeah. Oh man, yeah, and you know It's funny. Most of the bands I ever talked to they have won Melody Masses. None of them thought they would win.

30 It's always the people that go into it thinking, yeah, we're gonna win. We know exactly what You're probably not because you're not going at it with the right mindset. You're like, you're not having any fun. You're treating it like a sport, which is like, that's not the goal. That's not music. Yeah, no, Like come on. Dude, Like if you're if you're only trying to be better to get through Metal to the Masses instead of like trying to be better than your last show, then like why are you playing other shows? I agree, but each. Show you do should be like an attempt to do it better than you did before. So I also agree that it should be fun first. Okay, completely, If it's not fun, then you know what you're doing. You're not making any money off of me.

14 It's not the right business. If you're not having fun. You because you're not gonna be making any fucking money for a long. Time, right exactly. And listen, people can tell when you're having fun or not having fun, And. I think that might be the difference of why. Bands like you do win because the audience is reacting to you having fun. But somebody going up there and trying to win. Yeah, you can tell somebody's just trying to win. And no one wants to watch that. No one wants you to like stroke your own ego because you think you're gonna win for thirty minutes. Right. I cannot think of a less interesting show, I know, right. Yeah, And that was great perspective you put it. They're trying to win for a thirty minute set. Ye if it was four a million dollars, okay.

57 Yeah, but then okay, yeah you got well. But thirty minute set. Just go play a three minute set. Someone do that, man, no doubt do that? Right? So how do people reach out to you guys on socials on the web and most importantly buy those shirts you had to buy so. You can get to the next gig. So we got we got an online merch store that's like linked on all of our social media stuff. We are we've been smart, and our handle on all of the social media's is the same. So it's devil Husk OAO and like yeah, shoot us messages and you can either buy merch off of us personally or like buy e merch desks of gigs, or we do ship them if you want to buy them, and we do international, so you can get them wherever you are in the world.

41 It just might cost you a bit more because we're from the UK and shipping internationally is a bit of a pain in the. Arse, but worth it because if they buy enough, then maybe you could go to their country to play. Yeah, if you want us to play there, then just buy our shirts in bulk, like if you as an individual buy five hundred T shirts, we will fly wherever you want us to fly and we will play a show there. That's cool that we'll do it. I love it. And so is there any final things you as to tell the listeners that we haven't covered array that they need to know that's coming up for you guys to watch out for a bit. Pretty active on social media, so if there's anything that we don't mention or haven't mentioned so far, you'll probably find out there anyway. But we've got a single coming out of the end of the month EP coming out hopefully by the end of the year. That's six tracks, and then we're already working on the next EP because you know, we don't stop. We interact quite a lot with pretty much every social media that we get messaged on.

41 We get comments or reply to them because it's fun. It's a community nice. So yeah, if there's anything that you want to know about us, it's probably that. And I love that you said fun and social media in the same sentence. Can you cleave it right? Social media? But it's not fun, it's fun talking to people. Yeah, And I love that because I don't think most of our is like doing the social nugga. We'd already either we do it out of a bit of a like you kind of have to write. But it's like, you can make it fun if you wanted it to be found. I love that, add dude, and I love that you're here at Bloodstock And thanks for being on the Adventures and pipe Man. Thank you, Thank you, dude. Michelle Kerr was my press officer for my entire fucking career here in the UK, my entire career with Machine D.

27 She recently passed away and it was a very, very sad day. And I can tell you the reason that I'm gonna tell this story is because she was family. She was Bloodstock family, she was heavy metal UK family. Most of the. Bars that you know and love you probably heard of because of that woman right there. Slive Knots, Slayer, Machinehead, Trivium Kills which engage Hey breed, you name it. She helped lift everybody up, man. She helped lift everybody up, and in so many ways, she helped make this entire music scene, this incredible, beautiful community that lives here at bloodstock Man.

15 She helped make it. So, ladies and gentlemen, please make some noise from Michelle Kurt. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man on w for CUI Radio.
