04 Hey, you live on too, that's sure. I'm from four see why you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures. So pipe Man on W four cy dot com west pom beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. Maybe that's it's the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with Death Valley Dreams. Hello, Hello, Hello, Whyes, I bet you were. I haven't dreams at Death Valley When you're out there on stage in this heat, right with this with this jacket on. Yes, yeah, I'm like, okay, So anybody that wears a jacket and I dig that you do for the entertainment aspect, I'm like, holy fuck, how are you living after a set in that heat? Well? I started by wearing an all black jacket yesterday and just hung out in the sun all day long.
26 So I work for probably twelve hours and in preparation. There you go. It's like training. I like hearing that, Like people don't realize the training, no hard training altitude. I know, right exactly half hour was nothing after twelve hours yesterday. So there you go. And how how has it been here at Ler? In life? Is this badass or what? Oh? Yeah, this festival? Yeah, oh, Danny Wemmer festivals are so organized, artists are treated so well. Everybody's ever with the staff. It's just ten out of ten. I love hearing that because there's some ship shows you have to play at. Isn't there you know where that's not the case. There is, yes, And this is like amazing. I mean there's artwork everywhere. Like last night, Killer Mike was right there doing a DJs. We were here last night. How badass was that? I was like, I was looking down at the table, I'm like Killer Mike DJ set at the Spin booth. I'm like, wait, that's the Spin booth right there, and like sure enough here he was. Yeah, this is what's cool. I do a lot of festivals and you guys know like having this whole like lounge area. Oh yes, because otherwise people think and maybe back in the day, okay, but people think, oh backstage, oh you're probably bored the fricking death back there. It's like, oh cool, I could come here and hang out. Yeah, I mean it's I mean, it's definitely not like backstage in the eighties, right, you know, I was there Johnny and I took like we went at the M three festival,
59 right it's like all like Warren and Great White, and you know we're there, we're backstage. We're like, we made it. We finally made it. Backstage in one of these concerts, you know, swimming pool, empty swimming pool, and I would imagine everybody would have been naked and in that pool. It's nineteen eighty eight, This fucking pool would be no doubt that pool was filled with tears. Our tears, right, our tears. We filled the entire pool with tears. I lived that whole Sunset strip life. And yeah, it's funny. Now some of those same people from then I was friends with, I'm hanging out with them backstage and they're showing me pictures of her grandkids on their iPhone and that that's the back that's the backstage party experience right there. Everyone's on their laptop working on social media. It's like, what the fuck happened to rock and roll? Where's the danger anymore?
53 I have this artist that I was bad at, Jade, that she's young, and I was like, Okay, I'm gonna take you hang out backstage with God's back and she's thinking it's gonna be like this and we're just sitting there in the room looking at pictures on our dreams. Crushed your dreams, right yeah? Uh Well, the other bands I was interviewing today, they're like, make rock and roll dangerous again. I'm like, yeah, let's bring it back. You know, I mean nobody smokes cigarettes anymore, I know, right, you know, like led Zeppelin stuck a mud shark inside of a woman. You know, like, I haven't even heard that story. That's a famous story. I can't believe I have. I know about Keith moon shitty or like shifting on his drum set and Pete Towns and eating then shit like that. But that one, I mean shark led Zeppelin story is one to know. Oh, it's one to know. But I don't know one band here that would do that today. Who would stick a live much shark inside a woman? You might get attacked by the Meet Too movement, you would. It's I mean, I guess we have to make it up. Think about how some of those songs from the eighties two okay, only seven? Right, Daddy says she's too young, but she's old enough for me, right, Like that would not you'd never hear from that
25 band again. I just saw an article actually, and they were blaming it on the producer. They're like, actually, actually, I had nothing to do with Like the lyrics we wrote were all different. It was more like a saw her shading their Beatles type of vibe there was. As I was sitting at the Troubadour with Eddie Van Halen and Nikki six and every girl walked by, they'd be like, slot or bitch, come on back stage. Ye see where is that? Where are the where's that? Attitude? It? It left with politically correct. It did well, we need to bring it back. Well, we're you guys in charge to bring that ship back.
13 It's a tough task, but we'll try. Her day. I mean it was fun, Like I gotta say, as great as last night was. And you know Chamie who put the whole thing together, it was well put together last night that after party, but I was sitting down on the sofa most of the time because that was the most exciting thing to do at the time. You know. I was like, after party, Yeah, well we'll go out and get the mud sharks for tonight. Right there, you go, let's do it, do it. I've had brought a woman back last night. You know, a hot hot check. I like, fuck, I'm embarrassed here come back stage for this after party? What's going on ahead? And what happened was? I think we're like maybe watching kids shows back here or something. But the DJ set was fucking good for any that's listeny oh man. So tell our listeners about you guys as an artist.
19 Not the genre bullshit, or to put you in the box bullshit, but what makes you unique? I think we just don't give a fuck. We're nice when it comes to like writing music. I feel like so many people they you know, they're trying to write what's going on on the radio right now, or they're you know, their favorite band or whatever like that, and I just feel like we just kind of write what we want to hear. Yeah, it's just kind of like, you know, there's no rules to it. That's the only way it should be. We have our last song has a saxophone in it, We're like, nice, we're hearing a sax Okay, we got a sax place. I love that, you know, So like those kinds of things, it's like if you hear it.
01 I mean, think back to Pink Floyd. There there was there was probably not an element of any kind of music that wasn't in one of those songs at right time, you know, And they were just like, I don't know, I'm hearing a dog marking in this right, It's perfect exactly. It's so funny because when I was a kid, Laurie and I play guitar. I was fascinated by what sounds I can make, not actually playing something that was actually a saw, just how annoying of a noise I can make on that thing, right. Yeah, My dad's like, you should give that up, you shuck, and like thinking myself and I still to this day. That's what being an artist is, experimenting. Neil Young made a career on it, right, right, How else do you figure out something new? Yea? Otherwise you're just repeating the same ship everybody else's done.
54 Eddie van Halen, I'm sure when he started finger tapping right, it didn't sound like it does the way that we all know. Yeah, it's Dad might have been like, what the hell are you doing? You need to cut that shit out right, learn some chords, you know what I mean. But because of that, you have, you know, the guitar players that are here today, and yet last night. You mean, I don't think there would have been any guitar player here that shreds like that without Eddie Van Halen. And I think some of the best guitar players had no professional training. And I remember taking guitar classes and the teachers like, well, I mean to Duke Scales for like ten years. You know, I'm like, I'm fucking over this ship. That boring the shit out of me.
35 I just want to play a song. Can you tell me how to play a song? Oh? No, so fuck it, I'll just figure it out on my own. Yeah. You have to uniquely be yourself. Yeah, and unapologetically whether you think anybody. If you're doing it for somebody else, it's not gonna know. Oh they sniffing sincerity out immediately. No, now you go back to Nirvana, you know what I mean, Like he kind of goes down as one of the greatest guitar players of all time, not because he shredded, because he didn't give a fuck, right, you know, he didn't even want to be out there. He would have been perfectly happy in the hotel room McCourtney just playing guitar. Yeah, probably, yeah, that too, But I mean, can you imagine Kang and out with Courtney love for like an afternoon. I wouldn't be alive either.
26 We're not saying, we're not saying nothing, but yeah, it's true. Like think of them too, like you go before them, Sit and Nancy. Yeah, like I'm obsessed. I watched that movie all the fucking time. Man, It's like, oh my god. But I also think, you know, everybody talks about the horror story something what a great fucking love Yeah, like between the two of them, I mean just it's classic, classic love story. Unbelievable. It's like the love of my life is not a real person. It's a character under that same realm. Can you guess who under that same realm of that you know, shit show realm? A character? Okay character? Is it a real person? Not a real person?
16 A character in a comic? And think of this obsessive great love between her and another character who Jared Leto played that character, Harley Quinn. Yeah, Like, and people think I'm nuts why I say it, but I just the love she had for Joker and everything she did for that love. You know, that is what love should be, even though it's a shit show. That's what love should be no like love should not be some like tightly knit neat box. Same with music, same with music. You know, here's what's happened with music in a box is what we see today where people, I say, bands are using some like algebraic equation to write a song. Yeah, and then everybody sounds exactly the same. I used to hate it while it's teenager, and people that didn't understand my music said, oh, it all sounds the same because it didn't. Yeah. Now I'm like, yeah, all right, first now, yeah, that's why I asked that question. What makes you unique? Because, like, you know, we purposely don't use the same drum tones that everybody does because you know what happens now everyone's recording. You get these sample packs and they sound great, but not when every single band is using the same sample pack. It's
48 like it's the same kick drum on every band's song. You know that. Brian Johnstown massacre. Brian Johnstown massacre. What a shit show? What an absolutely beautiful shit show. Doesn't he's sticking a key all the time. No? Is it out of control? Yes? Is it dangerous he attack his whole band on stage? Yeah, it's fucking dangerous. However, it's real. He's crazy. You don't know if he's crazy, but one thing you do know is it's real. That's right. You gotta believe it. That's right. You don't believe it. Nobody else will absolutely and listen, this is the wrong industry and be faking it. Yeah, because you're gonna be miserable as an artist. Yeah, what happens if you make it? Isn't even me. Well, that's like a friend of mine that lives in town where my studio is. One time years ago, people are like, you need to interview Vanilla Ice and I looked at or roll my eys like why.
46 But then I met Rob and I was doing an event for him and I'm cranking slip Not on my as I'm pulling the radio equipment and he's helping me. He's headbanging and I kind of rolled my eyes at him. He's like, yeah, it's my jam man, fucking hate I don't sing Ice Ice Baby, I wrote that ship. Well I'm sixteen, man, but I have to sing it for the rest of my life. Oh, he's the coolest fucking dude ever. Yeah. Yeah, and he's as real as it gets. Yeah, Like yeah, the whole thing, you know, But he got a bad rap because of what record labels and stuff like this is what you need to be. That wasn't him. Yeah, and that's the problem. That was the problem with the eighties scene too. You know, I sat backstage when these record labels were telling bands like Poison and Shit, okay, you got dressed like this, make your music like this, more acoustic guitar. I'm sitting there. It's heavy metal. That doesn't make sense. And when it happened, I think that's what gave the ability for grunge to kill metal. Did it was the pendulum swinging yep. You know, it got so ridiculous where it was not about music anymore. Is who could hit the highest note, who could play the fastest, Who had the most bandanas the most, who used the most AquaNet, yeah, the nicest hair. I mean towards the end of the eighties, those men were like okay, they were like, you know, the most beautiful men that you'd imagine. I look at these. Yeah, it turns around you see the
20 Adams happy, like, oh shit, right, well you guys freaking rock. Tell everybody how to catch up on you, on with you on socials, on the web by your merch check out your tour dates, music all that, yeah, you can find is anywhere at Death Valley Dreams.
