04 Hey, you love the too, sus Sure, I'm come from wor see why you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four CWY dot com. West pom Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. What what the reason? This is pipe Man here on the Adventures Pike Man W four c why Radio and I'm here with dead heah, come on and this is stuff. First time ever I have allowed dead air on my radio show. Come on, yeah, and I have to tell the engineer, like, when you edit this, this is not what I meant by editing dead air. You gotta explain it because they might not know. They might just edit the whole thing.
18 Play so fucking bloodstock. Mate, it's been unreal, honestly. Yeah. It's been first festival and we have been absolutely loving it. Just came off the stage and were still Buzzing't wow, I love it. So tell us what it was like, man, oh mate? It was yeah, odd to start off with just yes, seeing how many people in the tent, it was fantastic. People were flooding in, everyone was being friendly. But as soon as we got going, it was just non stop. Man, absolutely loved it, Marsh pits the Lord just yeah, fantastic love it. Did you expect all that? Don't know? I want to expect. Yeah, it's the first, No real idea, but we're quite pleased with the mash bit considering the crowd. Be able to get them going the way these are the bands that is quite a privilege. And you've gotta be a good band and get the marsh pick going because not always did they just marsh.
06 It's like they have to be motivated. Yea. So tell us a little bit about your music. Not from a genre label bullshit standpoint, but you as artists, how do you describe it? I feel like we're a pretty weird, like how we started the whole thing, like it kind of came from like a high and a low in like life in the band. So it's kind of a weird reflection of just stuff that you've got going on, Like we we'd like to kind of talk about stuff we don't enjoy in life, and I think that kind of connects with people, like, Yeah, it's kind of weird, like therapy. It is therapy. Music is therapy for the artists and for me the listener. It's the best therapy, especially this type of music. And it's kind of cool. Like you write a song like there's you know, interesting relationship with his dappy something. You write a song about that and to it means you know, something really personal and you come up with someone else and it's got a completely different meaning. Yeah, it's like that's so cool, man, Like that's the you know, the message of a good song, because there's some wars out there that they want you to have the same meaning they do, and that's not good.
20 There's been so many songs like that have been ruined when you find out what it's actually about, right, right, I love this song. Now I kind of hate this song because that's just I know what I was thinking at all. Yeah, that's it's good to you my music. Right, But everybody's got to put on your own meaning to it. And that's a good song. Bottom. Why if they can relate, that's a good song. Yeah, it was good. It's just it's just a great time to get out, bash some stuff, watch people enjoy themselves. Could you want to be nice to tell us how you got to Bloodstock? And I don't mean yeah I drove down the m whatever we did drive was it driving a very packed up but yeah, we just applied for it on a win one day, finding it on the internet to play on the stage. It's our first firstival that we've ever played, so we thought let's just give it, give it a ghostie if and get into it. And yeah we got We heard back really quickly. Actually they wanted us quite active in that regard, so yeah, it was a nice route for us. That says a lot that they got back to you quickly. Yeah, it is normally that does not happen. Yeah, it's either really slowly or total silence. Yeah, no doubt. So this was your first festival, tell us how you feel as an urge a difference between performing at a festival and performing your normal gigs.
42 The crowd is just a completely different beast to be honest. No, a lot of people haven't heard us before these festivals, so it's just dead. It's not trying to win them over, but it's almost just just seeing them, just trying to connect to them. It's different when usually we've got our fans right in a from road rocking it out. It's just not a battle where it's just like it's a nice fire, nice hustle to see like, who's yeah, come along for the journey with us. And by the end they were there. They were there is a guy like okay, you start off they got their hands crossed, like who the fuck is this band? And then a little bit later it's like, oh shit, they like this ship. I said, the hair is going everything just yes, body's a fly and I love it. Yeah. Right. That's why I love about festivals, because bands like you, that's where you get noticed. It DJ get noticed in your local areas because they're already, like you said, you're fans, you know, but then you go here and you're exposed to people that PROI would never get a chance to see you ever sit And then I bet it happened with me almost every band, and I really like happened that way. You know. It's like even there was a band yesterday and I'm like, oh my god, they're fucking great, you know. I we've never seen them in my life except I was here, you know, slipnot oh Mike, I saw them ninety nine Odds Fest, mud Vein ninety nine Mudfest, I mean Odds Fest, both of them. We're on third stage,
16 smaller than the Jagermeister wo that's incredible, right yeah, and then's and then you know obviously obviously come on mate, I love that. Spread it apart so you can take a look at that hoodie. My daughter's got me that hoodie. Oh Joey my man. Yeah, I interviewed Joey before he passed. Really, oh mate, what was he like? Coolest fucking that's fucking drummer. The only drummer I like better is Lombardo who sorry, Lombardo maniac. I saw his first show ever, Slayer's first show evers, and I his friends with him hung out, you know, back of that, and now he plays and every band there is, it's ridiculous. Play that downloading a band with a Biffy Giros singer. Yeah, no, save it for the make Empire. Stay bastard, bastard I was supposed to see.
16 I went to Glastonbury last summer, well this summer and couldn't get in. So it's absolutely packed. And he's a legend. I find him across him is like a it's like a weird drumming dot, you know the Netflix drumming documentaries, and they just get you know, everyone and everyone you know on the he's on it. And he just seems like a really sound dude. Oh he's a guy in the world. And then first one that ever do double bass, that's the thing. And then he just talks like he's like, you know, talking about cups of tea or whatever. Yeah, and he sits down. It's like fucking how it's like a machine gun. So him a couple of years ago in the original Misfit. Yeah, you see him in September at Riot. That's with mister Bundle. He plays with Testament.
59 Song with Testament. It's like, what band does he not play for? But he earned it? Yeah, fucking a. I don't think Slayer would be Slayer without Dave Lombardo. So you say that band name, and you know people have heard of that. It's like a little bit, a little bit, a little bit and that that Slayer sound, Yeah, it comes from his drumming. Yeah, you know, band's only good as as good as that drumm. As I keep telling these lots, Yeah, there you go, Yeah I have that. Hey, look at Neil Prayer. I mean you can name a whole bunch of drummers and they're the sound grow talking like yeah exactly. So I can go to talk about this for hours mate, Right, we were talking earlier about Ringo Starr. Hey legend sounds like Ringo. Yeah, it was funny they said in the interview there, like they interviewed John Lennon. I think it was asked him if Ringo Star was the best drummer ever. He says he's not even the best drummer and then Beetle, Yeah, but it's like him, Charlie Watts from the Stones.
13 You listen to their stuff and it's like a right, anyone could play, that's like, but they just can't like Ringo the way he doesn't plays his high hats, starts with his left hand, leaves with his left around the kit like no one does that. It sounds like him, and like Charlie holding is like when he hits his snare, doesn't play the hats like that's unique. No one like. And maybe you wouldn't have the beals the way they are because I watched that documentary way back when where they got real peet best and Ringo in the area was known as the best drummer in the vall scene, so they went after him. If you look at videos, and then back in the day when they're like first really broke he's going for it as well. Yeah, you've seen those videos where like you can literally not hear anything apart from just people screaming. He's absolutely sending it. No, still doing it now, see that. So I mean listen and Bloodstock places like this is where legends are made of. So you're here listen at the beginning of the rest of the journey right next. Yeah, yeah, there you go. So what do you have going on after this? That?
20 That's good? Top this? We've got them. Yeah, we spent we spent a lot of time in the studio last a couple of months. I last like proper gig, a big headline show a couple of months ago. But we kind of stop digging in April and just kind of like phunk it down in the studio. Got four new tracks. So I think it's like the best reflection of like the last kind of we've been a band for two years, like kind of putting that all together where we want to go what we've been kind of doing. So they're coming out, hopefully they're going to be well. Obviously we love them, and then we've got a tour, so September to December we're going length and Brett Feuk, Edinburgh, Bright and Bristol. Hopefully Sheffield's got a Manchester one Liverpool open for Bring Me and show they're opening for us man Yeah. I like that answer. I like that answer. I think they like playing to sixty people. It's a good one, right, best way to do itst way to do it. Yeah, protmosphere, no doubt. You know, why is it that a lot of the big bands before they go on tour they play a club show that streams testament zio an't yeah, exactly good feel you know that We've ever played like huge stages, But I like the atmosphere of a club fun, right, you can see it like they get up on stage like I don't know.
39 I remember the first club show I ever went to as a fan and I was like, fuck, I'm never going to a real concert ever. Again. It's a whole different world. So what's the craziest thing that has happened in your musical journey? We stayed in a really weird hostel in Nottingham when we played there last year. Really good gig, great crowd and great show, but we ended up by it was a halfway house from refugees and we ended up just staying there was Oh fuck, it is cheap, you know, we bought this, but yeah, it didn't turn out too well. There was very it was like four to six beds in our room. There was only three of us. Yea very questionable stay. Yeah, so that was that was a bad decision. But yeah that ends rock and roll right yeah, yeah, yeah, tiny, little tiny car. It's like a washing machine on wheel, so it takes us around and that thing is like, oh, it's a trooper. How it does it? You know, four or five guitars, drums, three men. It's like have you ever seen the thing where it's like a commercial where there's this little teeny car and like fifty clowns start getting out of it. Honestly, I don't know how we do it, not hacks. The suspension still works, to be honest. Well, you do need it in Europe and the UK to be able to park, yeah, or even get down some of the roads we've
09 been looking at. We're trying to get a fan manch. I shift over to the States and just do I've been doing here and it's like, you know, stage to stay, just do it. They get paid, I know, once you're doing the money and that's you know, you're playing in front of them by merch whatever, Yeah, you got to do it. Speak in merch. I always tell my listeners they can't listen to my show unless they buy your merch. So let's tell them how they connect you on soulcials on the web and check out your music tooridates and most importantly buy your merch. This is it so for much it's official deadair dot com. That's where you can get all the merch and then in terms of music, hit us up on Spotify, band Camp, all these other places and check out the YouTube as well. Official dead Air is the tag for everything Instagram, Facebook, all of that to find us there. Definitely magic. If I'm playing playing with your songs on Mario, I just go all right, everybody, we're about to have some dead Air. It's fantastic. That's why that was it? Yes, that's it right right, that's the reason for your band name right then. Yeah, So anything else you want the listeners to know that we haven't discussed yet that they need to know about your band.
20 Nothing much more than come see us and sour come listen to the new music that's coming out in a few months. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, we all right now? Yes, bring the energy. Yeah. Well I'm so happy you were here at Bloodstock and thanks for being on the Adventures pike Man. Thank you so much for having us Man, it's been fantastic. You've got a brother, Thank you. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pike Man on W four CUI Radio.
