04 Hey, you have done to censure on double see Wow crazy. You why coup America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four c hy dot Com with pomp Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man first night seen you set? Does that became gonna putcha a list? So many people butting know toss them or so the man turning the back trying knowing us to ader for the goal.

46 Touch cut, Oh. My friends, pot your passitude for the enemy's counting. Baskets contain on Edger. This is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. At the final pumpkin here we have who's with us? Hey, J and Frank from dos clown Nice and I. Got a chance to see you guys earlier, and man, what a badass set. And it was a lot better for you to play then, because it's getting a lot hotter now it was. It was nice weather when you were playing. Yeah, nice ocean breeze. There you go. Yeah. So how does it feel to be picked to be one of the bands playing on this last No Effect show?

31 It's cool? I just I trip out on how fast time has gone? Because we play with them when we you know, both of the bands kind of started around the same time and I got to watch them develop, you know, and and I it's very uh, it's unique. You know, not many bands take off like that and. That may stick around like that either or like you got yeah, and I'm really proud. I'm really proud of what they've done. And it's just it's really cool. Does it blow your mind? Like how quick all those years went by? Like to me, I'm like, holy shit, I blinked, you.

13 Know, I can't believe we're even talking about it about it, you know, like Eric, the drummer from No Effects is. My daughter, my daughter's godfather. Wow. So it's like it is weird that it's so it's ending, you know, I know right here, Chris. How about how about for you guys, You're gonna keep moving on? Right Yeah, I'm gonna keep going. I got we got back together and we were, uh, we just got back from Europe nice and we're working. We got a new album almost completed, and then it's coming. Out in Spain. Wow, that's cool next year. And then we're gonna head back there again and then we're gonna keep recording music. And and uh just keep going forward, you know, same old, same all.

58 So for the three of you and your whole journey of music, you'll have a different story. But what's the story that, like, when you're like eighty, you're going to talk about good or bad through this whole journey? Oh, I don't know. I just I've been a punk rocker since I was like fourteen years old and I'm sixty now, so it's like, this is our journey, and it's like, I'm so grateful to have had this in my life because it saved my life. You know, when I was a kid, I wasn't a happy kid, and it was a different time back then, and punk rock gave me a reason, you know, to go forward. And it's like I just I'll I would look back and go thank god I had that, because I don't I don't think I would have been I don't think i'd I don't think i'd be here anymore.

47 I think that's true of all of us. A lot of people don't realize the punk scene, the metal scene saved so much lives of people like us that really like Keven talking about the Pit, I was talking about it just yesterday. I had some shit go on recently, and I went into a pit at riot Fest and put left all my bullshit in the pit. Yeah. Yeah, it's the best therapy. I'm grateful to do. We have this in our life. And I got a couple of guys here in the band. I got Chris. Let's hear his story. Hey, oh man, my story. I am so this guy.

31 No, actually, I'm just I'm just a lucky guy. Man. I hit him up. I said, if you ever need a guitar player, let me know. He you know, he hits. He says, Yeah, let's go on tour and let's see where this thing takes us. And you know, your question is, it's like, what has punk rock done for me? I haven't been around as long as he has, you know, but I love this music. You know. One of the things I love about it, You know this, everybody here knows this is the community. Yeah, and how we're really out for each other, like we got each other's backs. And one of the best things in Frank's not new, but he's new is to the band. And we just got back from tour and it's just the coolest thing to wake up every day smelling like shit, smelling the forest, that's what it is. And hanging out with your friends and giving people who may not have heard you that chance to hear you.

19 Yeah, you know, it's just you know what blows my mind. I was talking to somebody recently about this that you know, when we were kids, you saw kids at the show. You didn't see people our age. Yeah. Now yeah, you see people our age and the kids that would have never happened in our time. That's what's fucking cool. Right. We just had We just played at Doctor Strange a little bit ago, and some kid came up and sang the chorus with AJ Wow, it's the baddest thing in the world. And the cool thing is we're in Germany, right and there's a lot of people that speak English, but they all knew the they all knew the words to the songs. That's amazing. Yeah. How does that feel when you go to another country that doesn't even can't even speak to you in English, but they can sing your whole song.

05 You could just. Finish, you can feel it. That's the joy of it all. That's that connection we have with the music, you know. Yeah, you know what else is cool. Little Frank's in the band right his His father is Frank Agnew. He played in forty five Grave and Adolescents and all the bands when we were younger, right, And his uncle is Rick Agnew, and Rick played in Doss Clown. For a while. Nice and now Frank little Frank's playing with us. And it's just so cool because it's it's it's like keeping it in the family, you know, and that is punk rock, right, that is man fair, It's we're stoked. So I want to hear how you feel about that, Like to be able to be part of.

48 This, you know, to be like born into it, I know, right, yeah, because I mean I was born in eighty six, so by that time, the Adolescents had already you know, been broken up and then reformed twice at that point. Yeah, So you know, it's it's just a trip to know that, you know that, Yeah, just the family was have been involved in it and helped, you know, create it from the beginning in the seventies, and you know, to be be able to you know, be in bands like the Adolescents and then dos Clown now it's just, uh, it's an honor and a trip. So since you're the youngest, have a trivia question. For you, you'll probably get it.

31 It depends what's that thing on your shirt? Oh, it's for us when you got seven inch and it's got the big hole in not the little hole. There's what she said. Yeah, I love I love it because how many kids today too might not even know what that is. They'll be walking around with his shirt like that and they won't even know what that is. Like he's old enough to know. But you know, my dad, he gave me his old record collection and when I was in high school, and which is the coolest record in that collection? Oh? Geez, Well he had a couple.

12 He had Runaways, Queens and Noise, which I had never heard of. I didn't even know what that was. And then I just looked at that. I'm like, what is this? Put it on? Was blown away and then realized it was like Joan Jett and Lead a Forward. Also the first Faith No More album he had in there, the Weak Care a Lot. I had no idea what, I'm like, what is you know what I mean? I know that one hit day Gopa, what that singer looks different? It was a different singer. But yeah, so the probably those two I think stick out the most. Actually, and he had both the Germs What We Do a Secret and then the self titled Nice. That was cool too. So for you guys, what would you say your first punk rock show was that hooked you on punk rock?

58 I was so lucky I got I got to see bands like the Germs and the Dead Boys, and I would say the Dead Boys were a major impact. I mean, get seeing them live Nice. I'll never forget that night and getting to see Devo like in the seventies and. I just saw them at Punk Rock Bowling. Yeah, that was a trip. They're great. Interviewed them. I'm like, this is really weird. Like I'm interviewing Divo, like, Wow, it's like kind of a trip, amazing, We're still hot. I know, rights, it's wild. Yeah, Divo And I. Saw Devo in nineteen seventy nine with X Wow and X Los Angeles had was just coming out like the next week or something. But like that bands, the Plugs, you know, just some of those bands. Lords of the New Church was a big impact on me.

51 Later. Dude, It's like, I just a lot of it. Now. You want to know what sucked for me? Yeah, So I had long hair, so as you can imagine, I wasn't allowed to go to shows I wanted to go to, and I've gone now, Like in the past several years, I got to see the Exploited Subhumans Discharge GBH all bands. I was not allowed to see what I was. You know, No, it was dangerous back then, no doubt. So check this out. The first, the first crossover show ever at the Sun Valley Sportsman's Lodge. Do you know about that show? That was the first show at punk's and metal heads.

37 It was like an Elks lodge in LA I went there hours ago. Okay, there was no security and you put metals and punks together for this first time ever. Punk side was Coc pre Pepper like original Coc Suicidal before they crossed over when they were the Sui Boy not Thrash, and then I'm trying to oh and the Descendants, that's cool. And then the metal side was possessed Dark Angel in this band Savage Grace and if I tell you, absolute most epic mayhem ever, Like there was no safe place to hide in this venue, no security, So if you were not into the pit, don't.

27 Go to this show. And even when I interviewed like Woody and Mike from coc years later, I'm like, you probably don't remember this show, but and ray Way, they were like that was an Elk's lodge. Right, that was the most epic shit ever because I saw people like flying through the rafters and stuff. It's wild the old days, so you know what I'm talking about. Like I couldn't go some of those bands back then, and they couldn't come to us. I thought it was stupid because we were both the ones getting harasses beat by the jocks. We should have been together. But now we finally figured it out. Yeah, yeah, it's trippy. It's totally different now, that's true. That's true.

10 Motorhead did, Slayer did because Lombardo and Hannaman were punks. Well it was Kerry King and Tom were the metal head so it was like that's when you started having them together when Slayers started playing and Murderhead, which is. Amazing, and then you got Slayer covering d I I know, right, and that you know, Uh Rick Agnew and Casey Royer you know we're in and uh family, it's all family, all connected, and. Now we are big family now thanks to bands like you guys sticking around they.

50 Who covered Kiss Slayer. Yeah, In the beginning, they were they were a cover band first, these cover priests made in all that before they did the Slayer sound. It was crazy wow. They did like yeah much yeah, well. Yeah yeah himself, but. It's it's as fuck wow. And Hatfield of Metallica, his favorite band has always been Misfits always, you know, we just didn't figure out that we were supposed to be together yet. And now we are.

31 We have a festival like this and lots of other ones, and man, did you ever think you'd be playing this many years later? I didn't plan on being here, I honestly, And now I'm like, I'm sixty. Yeah, I'm fifty seven. I'll be fifty eight in a week. I didn't think that i'd even I didn't think i'd live to be twenty one. Me and my bro we was go, doesn't matter, the world's going to blow up in nineteen before anyway, fuck it. That was really the attitude. It was like he'd give a shit about nothing because the world wasn't gonna be here a couple of years. We didn't even think we'd make it to thirty, much less sixty. Right now, I wish I would have tooke a little big better care of my hands and stuff like that.

13 Like, sure, but it's all good. Here's the real question. So it says No Effects is like, so it since No Effects is retiring first of all? Bullshit? Probably not. Yeah, the Slayer was retiring too, and they're playing that after shown next week. Not like this, kiz. Yeah, they've been retiring for twenty years now and now they're avatars. Yeah. My question is who's going to do a show like this in the future. Well, guess what did you hear? I don't think it'll be the same, But Warp Tour is starting up again in twenty twenty five. Heard, go figure, that's awesome. I bet that's the timing of it. Oh, look, they're ending punkin drub Lick. Let's bring back Warp Tour.

54 That's super smart. Right, So maybe we'll see you guys at Warp Tour next year. All right, right, you want to play Warp Tour next year? Sure? Why not? I'm down, you gotta. I want to hear about the new music. Dude, we got two great songs right now. We have two great songs right now, dumb dum, three great songs right now. We have AI, which is a little bit metal. We have Dumb Dumb, which we played today, which is pretty pretty punk rock. That was pretty cool. Yeah, and and yeah, he do. He gave us a demo, He got a He's Frank Agnew Junior, So I know you got a ship ton of music. So I would say probably, I mean, what's the plane?

35 Keep on trucking. But like, we're gonna go play some shows, write a song, get in the studio record, go out and do some more, write a song, get in the studio, record, so I can years. This year, Yeah, the one coming out, and then we're gonna have another. Yeah, we got the new album coming out, and then we're gonna we're working. On a new one. Yeah. You know what I love about that is my friend who's here today, Joe from the Vandals. One time we were having their review and he knew I wouldn't. Ask this question. He's like, and don't ask me when the Vandals are coming out with new music. Who wants to hear a bunch of fifty year olds right in punk rock? But here you're doing it. I grew up with Joe, Me and David got into punk together Quackerbush nice. I was just talking to him and uh, It's just it's crazy how fast time's flown.

24 I know, it's like it blink and here we are, Like, who knew? My mom dropped me and David off to see that Devo show in nineteen seventy nine. Wow, amazing. To get a thirty eight. Year old, right, forty six year old so close to yeah, and a sixty year old How about this? Oingo Boingo played at Westlake High when I was there in ninth grade in the gymnasium. Awesome, nice, Like that was fucking cool as hell? Yeah, who knew Elfbin would be who he is today playing in my gym? I remember when they played in a place like it was like in a tent in Long Beach at the at the college and with fear.

08 It was Oino Boygo and Fear. Wow, mysore that. Yeah, there were the Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo before that, And it was I think Danny Elfman's brother started the band. It wasn't even Danny Elfman, it was his brother, Yeah, really. Richard Elfman, who also did that movie Forbidden Zone, which if you haven't seen, you got to see Forbidden Zone. It's the only movie he ever did, and it's weird as all heck, and it's got Oingo Boy go in it. They do a number and by that time, though, Danny Elfman is singing and in the band. But uh yeah, good stuff. Early rules all the rules too. But the some of that early stuff is pretty punk, you know, like it's it's pretty raw.

56 Yeah, yeah, I love it. So what else you guys want to let the listeners know that we haven't covered already. That's coming up. Two albums next year, we do the shows coming up. We got two albums next year. Want in Himme It of all Places with naked aggression. Nice this. In two weeks, we're gonna be playing with the Freeze. Somebody was just talking about the Freeze. Slayer did a cover of one of their songs and they're they're they're a cool band. They're from Massachusetts, they've been around since the early eighties, late seventies. And then, uh, we're gonna start the year off with T. Sowell. Nice it' uh the Observatory and we're just gonna keep on going. Man, I love it. I love it.

39 I love that you're here for this final show and we're all gonna go out and watch the sub Human Hell yeah, because that's gonna be fucking killer. Yeah, and uh man, this whole day's killer. But it started off great because you guys killed it out here. Thanks. I was glad I was here to see it, and thanks for being on the Adventures by Man. Thanks for having us.
