04 Hey, you love then too? Yes, that's sure, w for see Why for you Young, Why Coup America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four C why dot com vis Pond Beach is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, The Pipe Man sah Card Show for Give and everythingks Definition on the sign and the do the same thing every single fucking song and expect the shoots. Choin's got a Dead Girl, Wait to wee to finally like until you know, Tilly Garsons, this is It's the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio and I'm here with our next too. It's a pre killer artist and I love the concept of her new songs and making them into something that we're going to talk about. I don't want to say it yet, but let's welcome to the show. Chloe Starr, how are you hi? I am doing amazing.

18 Thank you so much for having me. Oh my pleasure, and I just want to stay right off the bat. What I was referring to is how you know you're playing these three songs together that are going to turn into like a short film, and I think that is totally badass. Thank you, Thank you, thank you. It's it's different for sure, and it's a great way to tell a story in three different parts, you know. So I'm excited for all of them to like come together so everyone can see and understand you know, one, two, and three. So yeah, yeah, I love the creativity about because you're right, it's not something everybody does, but I think it's something people should do. Like, you know, it just creates one more thing that gets people engaged with you as the artist, and it's just another way to express your creativity and artistry. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Also it's like tapping into different worlds of like different creative avenues, you know, Like obviously music is number one, but now we're also basically building a short film with with the songs and it being a three piece like a three piece story. Yeah. So it's been really fun being able to want make the music, but to also act in these videos,

49 like tap into the acting world and be in these videos and then three also like creatively work with other creatives and come up with these ideas and you know how something's going to look a certain way. Like it's been a lot of fun. Well what I think is cool bad too, is you know, years ago, you know, people bought an album and it was a full sensory experience. It wasn't just listening to a song. And I think you're taking that same concept and bringing it to a whole other level. That's a twenty twenty three way to have a full experience with the music. Yeah that you know, that's the goal, and that is the goal. It's also people get the visual you know, where it's not just a music video.

39 It's like you get a movie and you get to listen to the song. But on top of that, you get to fully experience and dive through, go through all these different emotions that I went through with these songs, and like in hopes that the listeners get to relate, you know, and be able to match it to an experience they went through. Very cool, and let's let's talk about a little bit about each part from your perspective as the artists, and you know, how they did affect you emotionally and then everyway else and what a little bit of what it's about so people can get an idea without giving away all the secrets so they watch it. Yeah, absolutely, I guess we could go by, like you know, piece by piece.

30 The most recent song, the song that just went out last month, is called Fool. And that song is like, obviously, if you've seen the video, you get the ideas about toxic relationships, you know, and it's well, it's about a toxic relationship, and the title itself is called is fool. So I felt like during that time when I wrote that song, I felt like anything that I I was doing, like any decision that I was making, whether it is a intimate relationship, friendship, even in a relationship with a family member, it's like I felt like I was just constantly making foolish ass decisions, you know, and me being the one that's like I felt like I was always the one getting hurt or I was always the one just like stuck in some weird ass situation that I couldn't like properly figure out how to find a solution for whatever the argument or whatever it could have been. And you know, that song is just like me being sick of playing the fool, Like I'm sick of being the one that's always fucking stuck, and so like, definitely that was for sure about toxic, being stuck in a toxic relationship where there's manipulation, gas lighting and all these things

00 that like that's not love, you know, like that's not like my definition of like a healthy relationship has drastically changed since then. So yeah, it just kind of takes you through the motions of the whole thing of like that push and pull and that you're fighting you're not fighting, and you really see that in the visuals, you know, and you get to experience that. And I personally feel like with the direct the whole team that I worked with on that video, it got executed to a t. So I was super stoked about how the whole thing came out. And yeah, and now you know, my next single called Found my Piece is dropping on the seventeenth, so we're only a few days away, and that is like that song.

00 I don't want to give away too much, but it's it's basically like you know what, in full, I went through all this hard shit. I was fucking stuck. I couldn't get out. I didn't know how to move. And then you get into the mid Now we're in the middle of like, you know what, I'm starting to realize that like I don't need anybody to like the only person that can give that I'm in charge of myself, right, I'm in charge of me and like I'm not gonna have someone's opinions, judgments or shit like shame me. Like like I'm in control here. I at the end of the day, who am I with? I'm with myself. So like being comfortable being alone and being able to you know, I found my I finally found my piece, and the lyric is I found my piece when you're away. So starting to realize that once you remove the negative you know, energy out of your life, You're like, yo, holy shit, you are the one or whatever it is you've been the one weighing me down because I feel fucking great now, you know. I love it, you know. And it's just it's funny too, because you know, we all go through that. Some people admit it, some people don't, some people learn, some people don't. I'm an example, like I still haven't learned my lesson with that shit, you know. And it's like I love where you said to being all right being alone because that is where I learned and my lesson while I was always like that, like you know,

31 I mean I have a brother as an example. He can't handle being alone and he's like, I don't know how you do it and blah blah blah, and and he almost gets offended by it because like if I go out to dinner with him and his significant other and I don't bring a date, He's like offended, like you need to bring somebody, and I'm like, uh no, I don't. Like I'm fine being by myself. I'm sorry. You have a problem with it, you know, you know, and it's that's what it is. Everybody else else has a problem. And then you stick in these stupid relationships with people for the wrong reasons, and you know, and the toxicity, like it doesn't go away. And the funny part about that is is my brother is constantly calling me. He's gonna be pissed when if he hears this, but who gives a shit? Uh, you know, He's constantly calling me about the drama in his relationship.

24 Like ah, literally, I'm like I keep telling him, I'm You're never gonna find the person you're looking for while you're with somebody else, you know, and that that's always been my advice. So I'd rather be miserable alone than miserable with somebody. Yeah. Yeah, It's also like what a powerful thing to like for you like you know, to be alone. It's a different type of strength. You know, once you realize like you're enough, you know exactly exactly, and that's the only way you're gonna be. Ain't good to anybody body else either, because you know, until you're good with yourself, how can you be good with somebody else one. And that's how you avoid the toxicy. I think, once you're good with yourself, that's the problem. We're so afraid to be alone that we always end up with the wrong people. And you know, like when you're I've seen it.

24 Actually people think it doesn't exist. I've seen when somebody's with the right person, and man, it doesn't. It does exist. Yeah, yeah, it does. It definitely does. And it's it's also a learning process, you know. You got to, like you said it, you got to make sure that you're good with yourself first before introducing another person like or else. It might just go fucking sideways, no doubt. And then usually what you do, which is what I do, is your only focus on making that other person happy, and then they don't give a shit about making you happy because you don't give a shit about making you happy. You're focusing on them exactly. Then you lose sight of yourself and then you're just then you're just miserable, right, totally. It's work, no doubt, that's why.

20 You know. It's another thing too that you would probably experience as a musician, Like I go on tour too, doing like radio coverage at festivals, and you know, people that are not doing that don't get it. Like That's another discussion me and my brother have is like He's like, well, you're never going to meet anybody if you if you're always on the road. I'm like, it's exactly the opposite. Actually, that's where I am meeting the people when I'm at home. I'm not because I'm sick of all the people I've met at home. Fact that is right, exactly true. And then you're around your own people like you automatically around people that are similar to you because you're in that environment exactly, people that get you and understand you. And yeah, for sure. So tell us a little bit about what really brought you to become an artist. Was there a moment in life that you were like, this is what I need to do. Bro?

24 Was there a moment? Yeah, there was so many moments. What a big questions. Yeah, that's a huge question. That's like a you know, I'm like, that's a whole day of that's a whole conversation for an entire day. Right, So, Like when I was younger, I struggled a lot. I struggled so fucking much. I struggled just to be alive and participate in society as a normal human being. I couldn't like I don't know, it was just a constant struggle. And like growing up, I struggled with a lot of you know, I struggled with depression, substance abuse and at a very young age. And the one thing that really got me through when I was I'm talking like twelve, thirteen, fourteen was journaling.

16 So I would journal how I would feel. That was the only way I knew how to express, So I would journal, and then that turned into poetry, and then poetry turned into songwriting, and then you know, like it was my release and it's what made me feel better and what really got me through the day. And basically like everything kind of just fell into place and I was definitely yeah, I mean I still am, you know, the odd one out doing just the most randomst creative things. Growing up and never really feeling like I truly fit in and no one truly truly understood me or saw me. For me, it was like a battle, you know.

07 I felt like I had to constantly battle to like have people get me. And so you know, it like definitely stemmed from from journaling how I felt. And uh, I got a guitar. When I got my first guitar, I don't remember how old I was, like fourteen maybe, and just like played around, you know, and I was always like when I was just I don't know, a little kid, like eight or something like that, I was always sitting my parents down being like can I just like dance for you and like perform for you, you know, and it'd be like a Britney Spears song or something. And it's just that's just what brought me like joy in life, you know. And and I've noticed it's like during COVID, during the lockdown, obviously, like that was a tough time for everybody, and I me struggling being alone, you know, was a death big challenge. And I got into like art, and I was making a lot of art and like painting and messing around with resin and doing all this stuff and I took a break from music for a while, and you know, I was still in my creative zone and it was great for me because I was able to like truly find myself as a creative. But even then I didn't feel completely whole. You know, I didn't feel like I

39 was walking in my purpose because I wasn't doing music. So whenever I am doing music, I feel like I am my most authentic self and I feel like, you know, I am on my path. And I just at this point, as cliche as it sounds, as like I don't know what I would do without it, you know, I truly don't. I would feel so lost. And you know, there's been moments where I've always felt like I'm doing this for this person or I'm doing this for the world. At this point in my life, nah, I'm doing this for me, you know, like I have to do this for me. This feels like my commitment to myself. And you know, the hope is that people will relate and you know, find that like universal understanding and like that's just like a short version of why it's I could go so deep. And then this happened, and that happened, and then I got that you know, but like, yeah, like I have to, I have to do it.

51 I love it because that means you're a true artist, because that it's there's artists that do it for the wrong reasons, and there's artists that do it like you for the right reasons. Because to me, music is the best therapy, not only for me the listener, but you as the artist. And so I love where you're saying about the journaling because that is how it kind of starts to get the stuff out and even to learn yourself. It must trip you out to like if you look at songs like maybe that you wrote a long time ago, or journals and you're like where you are now compared to them, It's it's kind of reflective because we don't always remember things exactly how they were, So when you read the journals and stuff like that and you're like that fills in all the blanks. Oh absolutely. I have this box in my closet. It's just like a regular like moving box, you know, just like a cardboard box, and it's full of journals and like, I like, all the journals are full, you know, like there's like no empty page in these journals. And I avoid that box because it's like if I open up that box, I could feel that it's like heavy energy, you know, it's like it carries so much weight. Where Like I have had moments where'P been like you know what, fuck it, let's just dive in and like let's take a look at what I was up to, like thirteen years ago. What was I thinking? You know,

23 And it's like damn, like holy shit, Chloe, Like are you good? You know, like were you good? Like but like you said, like that's where all that's just where it all came from. Like yeah, you know, and like music is therapy and I'm personally I'm in therapy. I work with a therapist, but that is not enough for me. Like music is an every day like this is my all, my everyday therapy, you know, so like I have to do this for me just to be also just to be fuckingsane, you know. Right, Well, what a great example you are too with that, because you know, so many people struggle with mental illness and they try things that may or may not work.

18 And basically the message I received from what you just said is you can't just use one tool. There's multiple tools, and they all need to work together with you like, just going to a therapist wasn't enough for you. The music, it adds to it and whatever else adds to it, and it's all part of the recipe for feeling healthy and staying away from those toxic relationships. Absolutely exactly, that is. Yeah, So tell everybody how they can reach out to you. Connect you on socials, get your music, check out when the short film comes out and all that goods stuff. Yeah, so you can. My two biggest platforms are TikTok and Instagram and my You can follow me at French toast Killer. All my my music is on all streaming platforms Spotify, Apple, Muse, all of them. And the music videos are being released on YouTube. So the next video and song is coming out on November seventeenth, and it will be the video will be on YouTube and the song will be on all platforms. So yeah, definitely, you know, stay tuned because they're after this one, there will be another one and the short film will come together nice. Well, you're definitely an

48 example for a lot of a lot. You may not even realize it, but just being the artist that you are and putting yourself out there, you know, because that's really hard. People don't realize like how hard it is to like put the real you out there. And that's what you do sometimes when you're an artist, and it's interesting, like the stuff you can put into a song or like I'll put in on the radio or things I don't really necessarily do in real life, and artists don't necessarily do in real life. It's like they can put in the song, did they sit there necessarily and talk with with people about But then your example for others that you know there there is things that they can do to feel better and that that they're not alone. So that more than anything, I thank you for helping people doing that. Oh, thank you so much. I really appreciate that, and like that means a lot because then that means that you know, the message is coming across the way that I had hoped for. There you go.

56 Yeah, I love it. Well, you rock, your music, your message rocks. And thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man. Yoh, thank you so much, and thank you so much for having me. It has been a blast just chatting. Absolutely anytime.
