04 Hey, you unto here? That's true? Why for you? You? Hello, this is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio and I'm. Here with FCS. Nice And I see you're here at download and you're prepared for tonight because you're wearing corn. Oh yeah, I'm already in my corn T shirt. I'm ready to go. I love when artists at a festival are so supportive of other artists, no matter who they are. Let's way it should be right. Yeah, I mean I think artists are just like massive fans totally. That's why we do it too, because we're like, oh, that's sick. I want to do that as well.

52 Right, that makes sense, Like what if you weren't a fan, why would you do it? Exactly? You know, you get the passion because you're into the music. Yeah, and how could you write music if you don't love it? Yeah? If if we were literally just talking about this earlier, we were like, I just want to be here. I want to be around the live music. I want to be at every festival, at every gig all the time. Totally. Even the reason I do it because I go on tour. I do festivals all over the US I do this. I do Bloodstock hell Fest. It's like my youngest daughter. I'll bring her sometimes to a festival and halfway through day one she's like, Dad, I don't know how you do this every weekend, Like I'm done. To Ray, I'm like, really, I don't know how I not do it, and like I don't even like we have to get to the airport in London by four and am, so we're leaving straight from here. Yeah, And she was like, well, we should probably miss some corn and I'm like, Nope, absolutely not. I don't give a shit. Okay, no, not at all, you know exactly. It's it's the whole atmosphere too, and the whole camaraderie. We're like all big family.

03 Yeah, yeah, exactly. And I saw you the other day doing the interviews around here and you even love doing that and most a lot of the artists they don't be. And I don't blame him, you know, this is the business side of it. And by the way, he told me great things about you too, Gary. But he's the reason I went to your set too, because I was talking about you and like I saw you around and I like, you know, how you were and your energy and so we're talking you gotta go see her set, you gotta go, And so I did. Oh my god, that was fricking awesome. Like there's artists that play great music. Yeah, there's artists that are great live, and there's artists that you're just like, oh my god, it's phenomenal, because like, a live show shouldn't be like listening to the album.

58 No. We literally spoke about this this morning because we saw a band and we were like, oh, it's exactly like Spotify. Right. It's like, that's not what I want. I want it to be different. I want the energy. I want things to go slightly wrong like you want to. You want it to feel real totally. Yeah, it's funny you should say that because there's one band that in all the press in the United States, we all talk about that they're the most boring band ever live. Are you gonna name drop them? No, I'm not that journalist. Are they here? I don't know, but I might not say. But yeah, it's like they don't even move. No, it's like I could just go home and listen to the album. It will be the same exact thing. I comfort your live show, corn.

51 I always like them, but until I saw them live. I was like, oh my fricking. Guy, I've never seen them. Oh my god, one of the best shows ever. Like, even if you don't like corn, you want to be at a corn show. And that's what it's about right there. But I even dug the other day when he was wearing. The heads, yes, and. I even went up to it. I was like, I must be freaking hot in there, because that was so hot that day he was, I know, right. And it took me a second though at first, like I didn't look closely. I'm like, why is he wearing the head like that? And then I saw it. I was like, that is freaking brilliant.

37 It's a massive me yes, big or go home. And I was like, wangoing big right. And that's it to me. That's the artistic creativity too, Like it's not just making the music, made the head as well. Yeah, I heard well. Garry and I were talking. He said, you make the clothes too. Did you make this too? Not the corn? No, I know, not the corn, but I made this underneath. I made the little kill because I looked he told me a look, I'm like that shit's cool. Like your shorts you were wearing the other day. Yeah, those were cool as hell. I'm like, where do I get a pair? Because those are cool? Into trousers as well. Oh man, that's so old school.

18 Say ready for festival, pockets, trousers, shorts all in one. See I need that because to come over here to the UK, it's bipolar weather here. Oh yeah throughout the day as well. Yeah, that's what I mean. The first download I did, it was like one interview I had my hoodie off, and then the next interview I had to put it on, and then the next interview I had to take it off. Even this morning, walked in hoodie on by time I got to the gate. Oh man, now I'm hot as hell. I was cold just like five minutes ago. Yeah right, carrying hod putting hoodie on, putting off, taking off off exactly. It's wild. So those shorts are brilliant. Then I need a pair of those because I had to pack way too much crap to come to the UK.

01 You know my dress yesterday it was long and then it went short. I love it. Ready for weathers? Yeah when did you start making clothes? When I was ten? Wow? How'd that happen? My granddad bought me a sewing machine, and I was like, oh, thank you, and just timing cloths. Well use this right? Yeah, that's wild. So you're I'm waiting for like I was thinking about that, like as you're saying, I'm like, yeah, if I were a kid and I got a sewing machine, I'll be like, the frick is this? Why did you give this to me? Do you use this? Now? Give me something cool? No. I have always loved making things. I used to like Hans like pillows.

41 And stuff nice. And then one of them was on top of the fireplace and then the house caught fire and it's the famous pillow. We still have its singed singedness. Wow. Yeah. And then I think the sewing machine was a pretty fitting gift for me. Nice it's a good one. He got one for my cousin as well, and it's probably still in the box. So where did the music start? Then? What happened? Then? I started playing guitar when I was thirteen, okay, and then I just really liked it. I started going to gigs at the same time. My dad would take me to gigs, and then I'd buy my dad tickets to gigs I wanted to go to for like his birthday or father's have you Father's day. We're going to this gig.

24 It's four hours away. Thank you. That's great. I love that. And then I went to college and did music. I moved out and they did college at music when I was sixteen, nice, just stuck with it. Amazing. I found my thing. I just knew. I was like, that's that's what I want to do. Well. When I saw you up on stage, it's definitely your thing. Not because you're good, that's part and the reason, of course, but you were having so much fun of it. It's fun. It's so fun. Like the look on your face. I was like, that's the way every Urish should be up there totally. And then the ending, I thought that was badass okay, where you all just fall down and then you start doing your thing like after a couple minutes of silence. Yeah, oh my god, it was so cool.

18 We've done that since like the first gig. It just happened on the first gig years ago, and we just never didn't do it. We tried to not do it once and we were like, no, it feels so wrong. We can't not do it. You can't not do it. Yeah, it just happened, and we were like, nice, that's how we end our shows now. It is. It's one of the best endings I've ever seen. I've seen thousands of concerts. Like it was just and I didn't even know what to expect next because I hadn't been to one of your shows before. So that's long silence. Yeah, Like I almost left. I thought it was over, but I am to take that until they get off the stage. It's not over. Yeah, it's kind of like you watch movies now, like Marvel movies credits. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, and then you started laughing. I'm like, wow, that's great.

05 Yep. He has a recording on his phone of like this five minute laugh we did once because we had so much time at the end of the set, I just kept going and the crowd is like, whooo, it was so long. Wow, that's fine. What else would you like the listeners to know about you? What would I like them to know about me? Nothing? It's a secret. Oh, I like that just kidding. I have no secrets. I'm too open. I literally be like, oh, I'm going for a pooon now, and everyone's like we didn't need to know, and I'm like, oh. Oops, sorry telling you anyway. Yeah, I literally can't lie. I try and then I laugh.

45 So what other passion do you have outside of music and making clothes? Honestly none, That's literally all I do. We go climbing. Nice, Yeah, we go climbing like once a month when we have time. Where it's the best place you ever climbed. Well. I did my first outdoor climb the other day about a month ago in Cheddar Gorge. That was really fun nice. What was fun about it? I was a bit scary. It'scuy. I climbed seventy five meters wow, yep. And I did a slab which is like this that was really good fun. Yeah. And then other than that, I literally I wake up at seven, start doing my music, got sew in, go to bet at midnight, do it again the.

34 Next day, true artist. Yeah. I cannot do it and that's the. Way it should be. Yeah. The people that are doing it and don't want to do it like that wrong business. Yeah. I've had one day off this year. I believe that I walked to my dog all day. What type of dog? A Scottish Terrier? Nice? He's really really really cute. Yeah, so cute. Yeah, it's the Coraline dog. Have you seen Coraline the film with the button eyes? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you know the dog gets that. Oh wow, he's really cute. So does the dog ever come on stage with you? Well, I think he go deaf. Oh it's really small, like this big.

17 So he needs like the baby yea headphones. You know, maybe I should get him some little headphones. Yeah, it could be, and then you could dress him up like you with the hair with the headphone. Think he bite me? That might happen. Yeah, I think we fall out. I think he bite my hands off for to play anymore. So is your hair always red as it always been red and always will be? Yep, it just grows this way. Of course, it's naturally. It just comes out of my head red. We'll see. My hair for many, many, many years was blue. Yeah, it's even in my logo yep. And it just went normal recently. But to me, it's like, yeah, it just faded into brown. Oh it just happens totally. Yeah.

02 No, I can't. I can't stray from the red. I don't think anyone recognized me. That's what happens, Like you didn't recognize me, But I have a bunch of artist friends that I've come through the tent and they're like, oh man, I even know it was you really yeah, totally, So now I might have to go back to blue because now I just look like everybody else. Yeah, you don't want to blend in. No, and then if you change your hair color then you'd have to build all new or make all new heads. Yeah, exactly know all that mistick of red red suits me. It's definitely you. I've taken it. It's there, it is. How do people reach out to you buy your merch? Do you sell your clothes that you make?

45 I do? I do sell. I make my march as well. Okay in the garden nice. Yeah, I have a WhatsApp group as well. That's very fun. So tell tell them how to reach you everywhere. Well, everything is on my website www. Dot begs official, dot co dot uk, and my instagram is on there. Everything really just fine find me through the website. Do you do TikTok too? I do TikTok too. What's your least favorite TikTok You've done that? I've made all of them. I don't like TikTok. I do it because I have to I want to. TikTok Okay, so I do TikTok, but I hate it because, man, it's a lot of work to make a one minute video.

32 I don't have that much time. Yeah, it really sucks your soul when you spend like a month making a music video and then people only care about fifteen seconds of it. Yes, Or like a song, you spend like six months working on one song and people only want to listen to that one little hook that went on TikTok. Yeah, that bugs me too, because, like when I was younger, even know what the music sounded like. You had your hard earned money, and you boy an album and you listen to the whole album ten million times, even if you didn't like it, as you spent your mind. Yeah, and you already invested at that point, exactly. Yeah. There are some bands that I love now that I hated when I heard the album first time, but I just had to make that money work.

20 Yeah. Some of the best songs that I've always loved would never work today because the intro to the song would be too long for somebody to wait for. The best part doesn't as hot as it shed. No like Battery by Metallica, nobody would ever like that song because like a minute mellow intro before it gets like massively hits you. Yeah, nobody would make it there, you know what? Bothers me too. I found out that they've even changed songwriting for today. It used to be I was taught you raise a song, got the intro verse, one chorus, verse two break, bridge, solo, verse, three chorus. Yeah, now I'm talking a bunch of ours. Yeah. Now they want to get rid of the intro. Only two verses and no bridge, no solo, no nothing, just that's it.

17 Two verses, chorus, We're done. That's sad. I am a fan of a short song. I do like to keep my songs under three minutes. You can do that with all that though. But yeah, we do have a lot of part and we have two basses, so there's already like a lot going on. How'd that come about to have two basses? Well, he played bass. And I saw him up there. Yeah, I bought a bass. I wanted to play bass. He didn't want to play guitar. I didn't want to play guitar. We had no abruption. All right, So I have a trivia question for you. You probably won't know it because not most any rs, even ones that were around, because it's an older artist.

01 I'll give you that hint. Who is one of the most popular bassis on earth that never wanted to play bass. The only reason they played bass is because the band already had two guitars and he was a guitarist, so he volunteered to do bass English English. Know this, well, do like the Jeopardy sound? Dude, do. Go and tell me the Beatles? Could I say that Paul McCartney is this? She's going to say that I knew you had it on the tip of your tongue.

41 I was gonna throw My granddad told me that. Now, if you listen to the Beatles now and you listen to as bass lines, it's like a guitar. He plays the bass like a guitar. It's not like a normal bass sound. So there you go. Yeah, And I was actually the first thing that came to my head. Look at that. Should have trusted my gut. Damn it always always trust your gut. What else do you want the listeners to know that we haven't covered already? I have a headline show in Birmingham on July the fool. Wow. Well I'm American So that's like a special day. Independence day. Yeah, we're not so independent anymore, though, I don't know if we should celebrate that anymore. I'm glad to be here in England. Yeah, I think I why I come over here. I was I gotten a plane to get here.

30 I'm like, yeah, get me the fuck out of here, you know. And so that's cool and can you do okay? It's funny. It might have even been Garriott said to me. Somebody said to me when I was going to Birmingham for the first time, like, you're not gonna understand a word they say. I'm like, come on, how could I not understand? Don't ask me to do the accent. I won't. I'm gonna do it for you, okay, right, this is what I heard. Ye English people. They also like that I was. Married to Okay, I got a funny one for you. I do this one a lot in the UK. I was married to an English girl. But a lot of them they come over to States and because we don't know, because we're dumb Americans and think they're all royals, that they come over and act like they're royal, and they basically played a whole smoothie. We're better than you. You know, Americans are lower class, blah blah blah. And so anyway, she was like that in the story she's from Newcastle.

43 I see, she didn't have the accent. She had the proper queen's English. Actually, I don't know. She must have practiced, because I've heard the accent now I didn't hear it before. I'm like, yeah, she didn't talk like that at all. Yeah. I think she was a Yeah, I think she was ashamed of where she was from. Dumb. Yeah. So I thought it was pretty funny because I never knew about Newcastle until like years after the divorce, you know, and somebody said to me something I don't know. I found out she was from Newcastle, and they're like, they all laugh. Everybody I say that to laughs they laugh because I say she acted like miss you know, like she's the Queen of England.

25 Yeah. So ah, So anyway, you rock. I really love also that I saw you here all day doing press and you're still here like you're here for the whole festival and join it just like you said, You're part of a whole scene. And that's what I love about you as an artist. You're gonna be so huge. Thank you. The Beatles are gonna have to open up for you if they were still around. Yep, they wouldn't. There You go. Yeah, thanks a lot for being here, and thanks for being on the Adventures of paint Man. Thank you, thanks for shotting some Thank You for listening to the Adventures of Pipemin on w for c u I Radio.
