04 Hey, you love them too? Sure? On W four C why you wake up of America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four CY dot com. West pomp Beach is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the pike Man, which is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with this is Angus is pipe Man like pipe pipeline like the wave close. But I have a story about that. I can see the thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, So my last name's Piper. Okay, cool, but I like the pipeline idea. But having a story about pipeline. Yeah. So I was at pipeline to the end of two thousand and seventeen ye and they had the competition going on. They canceled it because they were like thirty five foot waves. WHOA cool. So I was standing like right at the edge of the water like ankle deep cool And within seconds I was knee my knees were

38 it was up to my knees in the sand and then it flipped me over, that's how strong the water was. The next day I went to the other side to Wiki, went surfing over there, had a heart attack. What yep, Hawaii fucked me up and they put stent in. They screwed me up. I went through like a year of recover vary and then m they released me. I'm like cool back. I went to Costa Rica and I went surfing and I was on top of like a ten foot wave and I had a massive heart attack. Yeah yeah, And turned out that why you fucked me up. And while that year I was recovering, that stent was flowing out my main artery and was healing over. So when I was on top, I rode like four or five waves having a heart attack.

28 Didn't know it because I had like this weird feeling coming from my neck all the way down. I was like, fuck it, I'm just tired. It's been a year. Wow, man, really good. Wow. It makes now after two times I kind of lost my mojo. I'm still surfing, but I don't have the same Like the second year, I was like, okay, I don't care, you know. And then but that second one, like and I paddled back to shore, people are like, how do you do that. I'm like, well, it's either or die. Oh yeah, you know, you don't think about it. But then a year later, recovered again, went back to Costa Rica, went surfing, didn't get a heart attack, didn't die, came home and got locked down for COVID three days. Yeah right, Yeah, too bad. I didn't get stuck in coasting. Yeah, that would have been sick. Yeah right.

23 So anyway, now you hear shaking knees, gonna be shaking knees here. We all with you guys, kicking ass. And I was just on your side of the world recently too. I just got back from Bali. Oh cool. Yeah, I was gonna hop over to Australia, and then I found out, like it ain't that easy to just hop over there with a visa, Like they gotta do that character checking stuff. So it's like I should have planned ahead. Oh really, like weeks. Wow, they do the whole background check and all this stuff, and like so I was like, oh, well next year, yeah another time. Oh so tell us about you guys. Let's tell the listeners about you guys. Well, I'm angus. It's Jack Elliot when to get the bees. He'll be back.

11 Malls is with him. He doesn't drink though, And that other guy's Kyle. He's actually from California. Nice, He's okay, nice. Good. Well, I lived in California in the eighties during the whole eighties sunset. Yeah. Well, yeah, you guys probably hit it off. Yeah, I was a teenager and that's where I learned to surf. California. So, but there's nothing like Australia. Yeah, we love the beach as well. Yeah, we just got it from Australia, like last night. That's a first show and you're still alive at the way it was that like a twenty five hour flight to get like it was twelve and then you know, five hours from sam fran wherever we flew in. Really, that's pretty good. It took me twenty five hours from Bali to get to Florida or to New Jersey actually is where I went. Wow, must be Yeah, it's it was fast. That's good. That's good. Yeah. So well you think being here at Shaky nice it's him sweet. We went here that long ago. Actually we played at the Earl Atlanta. That's cool. A few months ago. It is good. Now way back you're back kicking ass ye. So uh, tell our listeners who haven't heard Bay Rainbow before, what you guys are all about, what your music's like and all that cool stuff. Yeah, we're developing. The sound. Isn't that constant thing though, you know, like when you're an artist, you're I think you're constantly developing. Yeah. Yeah, we got a pretty funky fresh thing going on at the moment. I'd say, who is the one in the latest video

41 that was hang? Like, yeah, I thought it was yea. Was that was that your first time or was that like just doing it? Oh? No, it was maybe fifth fifth time. Okay, Yeah, I tried it on the outer banks of North Carolina. Okay, cool. I only did a little bit. It was pretty cool to do it again. You know what I thought was really difficult was kiteboarding. Have you done that? Oh my god? My calves hurt for like three weeks after that funny story. You know how you're supposed to let go and let let the kite do its thing. Yeah, well it was pulled me up. So I was doing the natural human thing and pulling on and thank yourself good faster, and I was going up at the instructor's going let go, and I just kept pulling more, and before I knew it, I was like higher than this tent here. And then I finally got what he said and I let go. I went yea strong. I noticed chick where I lived. She's a great surfer. She went kiteboarding one she said never again and dragged her through the whole beach. Yes, like flung on the sand. Yeah, whole totally. There's heaps of codepstry our dad's a codsff is. Oh really yeah, yeah, they love it. That's that's cool. I would love to be good at it. Ye like windsurfing better windsurfing is great. Yeah.

13 But what I found is I was talking to somebody. I was like, man, this is so much easier than kiteboard. He's like, yeah, until you really learn how to do it, you know, like once you get good at it, then then gets harder. Yeah. Cool, as you know, because he got the smaller sail, the smaller board and it gets a little gnarly then yeah. Nice. So where else you're going here? Because you're here in the US doing a few dates, right, went on even that long pop Man, We're going to um Colorado tomorrow we're playing a Fox Theater and Bolda. It's gonna be good. And then we're going back to Callie. We're playing La playing at l Ray Okay, l y theater. I haven't been there. It's not I haven't been to that one. And then we pretty much roll home a couple of Cali shows, playing in Joshua Tree. Nice. Are you gonna do some surfing in la and in Frisco? Yeah? I think so, Mavericks Nice. Is there any place that you haven't played yet that you want to play in America?

22 Anywhere in the world's playing Costa Rica? That would be cool? You know, it's funn you should say that because I do all these music festivals. I'm like, man, I want to start a music festival in Costa Rica. There's only like one and it's not you know, the same genre music. So I'm like, that would be a cool place. But Costa Rica. I love Costa Rica. One favorite places in the world is cool as shit. Yeah, and I've been all over the country, but my favorite is Nossara. It's like the surfing mecca of Costa Rica. There it's pretty cool. So yeah, we'll go play there. And I don't know where would you like to go? Well, we're planning in an Italy trip.

03 Now, wherever you want, anywhere in the world, anywhere in the world. Probably probably over in Greece. Nice. That would suit the family. That's pretty cool. Yeah, that's pretty cool. And how about how about you surf too? Right? Yeah, I said, okay, so where haven't you have? Have you not surved yet that you want to surf? Like I have a list, but my list of places I want to go surf um Angus has probably got a few spots. Um. Yeah, I mean we haven't really done much stuff in Hawaii yet. Yeah, you know, it'd be pretty nice going there. We keep flying over the top of it. We never stopped there, so oh you gotta stop. So we went there. We played once at this shell at a festival. It was cool. Nice. We surfed at Kiki and it was sweet, but we didn't go anywhere else. Yeah, so like, of course Pipeline and then Jaws on Maui. That's a trip because sometimes they'll get like the fifty foot waves. But you gotta climb down this mountain to get to serve a lot of BALI was like, then ula Wattu. Yeah, he climbed down.

09 It's nice. Say, oh you know how much climbing down and up? And then I was really impressed because it is like a hike and I'm seeing these chicks carrying their boards walking up the mountain when long boards too, yeah, and I'm like heavy, man, they're bad. Ask. I'm like fuck that, I'm runting the board at the bottom. I'm not carrying down the hill and up there. Yeah. Yeah, nice because it's steep. It's like you're going down this serious man. Yeah, that's crazy. Oh man? So fun times? Do you go bot You guys go bally Lot and you got to walk down there, but you gotta carry babies and shit as well. And it's really hard. Yeah, and it's slippery from all the water runoff and the like in the rock. Yeah, totally. So where would you recommend when when I go to Australia? Where should I go?

54 In Australia. I've got a path, bro. It's so cool over there, see, And that was exactly where it was going to go because it was so close to Bali around. It's sweet. I live in Byron though. It's nice there. You'll love it there where it's more busy. Where's Byron in relation? It's like current near Brisbane on the East coast, you know. Cool? Yeah, and that is sweet? Yeah? Nice. Well, Australia's for Americans. Australia's like the dream everyone since the movie Point Break. Yeah, it's like any surfer in America's like, man, I gotta go there. Yeah. Nice, But you know, I don't know about them fifty foot waves. For me, that's pretty gnarly. Yeah.

37 Yeah, that's an I can't even imagine, like, you know, look it up and like, oh shit, having an heart attack. Yeah, I would definitely have one. So what else you guy? He's got going on in the future after this tour? Angus is having another baby. Nice, congrats a couple of weeks from when we get back, and then um, and then we're gonna hang out for a bit for the middle of the year, our winter, your summer. Yeah, um, probably finish a few more songs, um, and then come back over here and do the East Coast September. Nice. Um, and then just keep making music and see how geeks come up night. And you guys are badass. People need to listen to you guys if they haven't heard you yet, because I love your music. And speaking of which, let's tell them how to connect to you guys on socials, on the web or what have you and be able to check your music out merge any of that stuff. Well, you know the usual just on Spotify to hear us or like, we haven't got our our website up very up and running for merch and stuff. Yeah, but we're on it. It's coming. We're not very tichy. We could do with that, you know, you have somebody to do that. Um, I don't know, YouTube, Spotify, nice, where we where we

11 buy the record by the records? Anywhere good records shop. Yeah. Also, it's out you got vinyl nice vinyls make ain't comeback. So I gotta show you something if I can find it, or maybe I'll do it after your interview. But my I have a board. One of my best friends, he was a nose riding champion in the sixties. What's his name, Bob Pervy. Do you know him? So he also designs boards. It's called the Ugly surfboard. And so my one of my surfboards is he custom made one for me. It has that Pipeman logo that you see on the mic on the board. So that's what you gotta do. That's why I brought up for merch purposes. Have your own board with the band logo on it. Yeah. Yeah, we got a couple of mats for us.

03 There you go. That would be brilliant. Who else does that? You are? You living in Atlanta? I live in Florida. You've in Florida there, Yeah, it's not that great. That's why I keep going everywhere else. Yeah, all right, go for it, we'll tag team. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, so Florida. The problem with the Atlantic Ocean is unless there's a hurricane, unless you catch that wave like one hund right, it's going to pass you right by, you know, like out in La and I'm sure in Australia and definitely in Hawaii. If you're in a way that wave and whether you're ray or not, it's taking you whereas you could be perfectly set for that wave in the Atlantic Ocean just passes you by. Yeah, and just passes you by. You know. It's like the other day I was out and I just every wave that came it just right but past my board. I was like paddling and it just so.

09 Yeah, unless you go up to Coco, you know, that's pretty good. Yeah. I live in South Florida. Problem is it's the Bahamas blocks it. So the only time you get swells is when there's a hurricane. Yeah. Okay, So we're kind of like we pray for hurricanes. Well, you know Noosa Umnosa Headland up, it's it's on the east coast north of where we live. Yeah, it's like one of the best point breaks that we've gotten. It. It's kind of the same you got to wait for the for the soccerland to come, and when it comes it just works. So well, there you go, the longest waves, such beautiful headland. Love it. Yeah, it's heavy, it gets really crowded now, but yeah, those waves refracting and it's cooking. I thought have an idea when I was doing a festival in California. It was on the beach.

03 It was a punk festival and people were out there surfing, and I'm like, man, some band, maybe you should do this, some band should like do a live gig while they're surfing. Yeah. I've always wanted us to do that. We I mean we we've we've taken amps and drum get onto the beach before with friends surfing, just a couple of of us. But um, yeah, like on the point big speakers would be sick. Yeah right, yeah, grateful dead Ever did say they seem like someone who would do that? You know, it might be sh You know who should do that too is Metallica because you know Rob and Kirk they both surf. Oh yeah, so that would be cool. James and Lars could sit and play on the beach and they'll be out there on the waves. We could even have like a little anything out there, you know, yeah, floating around. Yeah, that would be a good idea. I love it.

56 See you gotta be creative, break that and like that nowadays. Right. Yeah, So anything else you want to share with the listeners about the band and your music or anything coming up that we haven't covered yet. Um, Yeah, keep keep an eye out because we're we're feeling really hard at the moment um we got. We just released the song yesterday and there's three more to comment. We're doing this little EP. We're calling it an EP, but it's just four songs, yeah, because it felt a little bit less commisome than in a big album. Um. Sometimes EPs are the best, feels really digestible. Um, and we're just straighting the next ones. But yeah, keep keeping an eye out and we've got plenty more for you, all right. We're cruising. Lots of babies, heaps heaps of gardens there. It is yeah, I love it. Well, you guys rock.

48 Thanks for being here at Shaking eas and thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man. Pipe Man cheers. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man m W four CUI Radio
