On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Austin Meade, an artist who brings his unique rock sound to the stage. Austin Meade shares his thoughts on his name, recounting how people often mispronounce it as "med" instead of "mead." With a playful spirit, he discusses his outfit for Welcome to Rockville, donning a rubber ducky bathing suit and top combo gifted by his mother on his 30th birthday. This lighthearted attire captures the Florida vibe of the event.
Austin Meade expresses his excitement about performing at Welcome to Rockville and the Daytona Speedway, highlighting the honor of sharing the stage with renowned acts such as Blackstone Cherry, Trivium, Pusser, and Rob Zombie. Humorously, he mentions opening up the pit for them and promises a wild experience. The conversation touches on driving on the speedway, with Austin reminiscing about a previous trip and joking about his fear of flipping over.
The discussion turns to Austin Meade's current projects, including touring with Godsmack and I Prevail. He describes the interesting lineup arrangement, where they perform on different days but come together again on Sunday. During the break, he plans to enjoy the beach with his wife and catch a performance by Hardy. Austin reflects on the opportunities he has had, such as opening for ZZ Top on their 50th-anniversary tour, emphasizing the ability to win over diverse crowds as a testament to his versatility as a rock artist.
The conversation concludes with Austin Meade discussing his musical style and his upcoming song release, "Blackout." He expresses excitement about this new step in production and the support he receives from his team. However, he acknowledges that the ultimate judge of his success is the audience. Austin emphasizes the importance of authenticity as an artist, avoiding the trap of trying to please others and instead staying true to oneself. Pipeman praises Austin's dedication and rock spirit, assuring him that he will undoubtedly rock Welcome to Rockville.

0:04 Hey, you love them too? Sure, I'm from four s Why for you? Wake up America. It's time for the adventure. So pipe Man on W four C white dot Com west Poon beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man's I you call it was the first on the list, the TuS pipe Man here on the Adventure pipe Man W four C Y Radio Here at Welcome to Rockville. And I'm here with Austin motherfucking Meade. See that's why I like to do it that way.
1:10 I like when the artist says their their name because it sounds so much cooler. Yeah, I don't know, man, I people say it all the time, different ways. So Hi, what's the worst way somebody said your name? I just a lot of people think it's mid I don't know why. I don't even know where they get that from. I think they just can't spell. And I love your outfit here at Welcome to Rockville. Yeah, I'm just ducking around today, man, just ducking around. This is a Yeah. I guess this is like a rubber ducky, you know, bathing suit and top combo that my mother got me for my thirtieth birthday. Because I think I had the same thing when I was like three nice family photos. I figured I whip it out for Florida. I was gonna say that I was so Florida, Like, I'm here. I'm retired at this point, so when I get off stage, I'm done. There you go forever. So how bad ass is it to be here at Welcome to Rockville and that the Daytona Speedway. Yeah, it's pretty pretty surreal. This is our second time to do it. We did it about a year and a half ago on the Makeup One. Yeah, we did that on the Space Zebra stage and it was the same day as Metallica, so it was pretty pretty insane. So now we're on the other side, still on the other the other main stage, which is a real honor more with Blackstone, Cherry, Trivium, Pussifer, and Rob Zombie today. So it's pretty crazy that I get to say, you know, it's pretty cool that they're all opening up for you. I'm gonna open up that pit for them and then we're gonna get wild over there. I'd tell you that. Oh yeah, it'll
2:44 be fun. You know. Did you get to drive on the speedway here? I actually didn't drive this morning. We drove overnight. But last time I came in, yeah, I was driving. It was Yeah, I was hoping our sprinter wouldn't flip over. You know, I have a jeep with big mutter tire. Sounds like I'm gonna roll pretty amazing, totally, So what what do you want to talk about that? You got new going on and things going on after Rockville? Right now, we're on a tour with Godsmack and I Prevail. Kind of weird how they did this weekend and we're playing Thursday here at Rockville, and then I Prevails Friday, and then god Smack is Saturday. But then we all meet back up again on Sunday, so you can a little bit of a break and get to watch some bands. Yeah, I've got my wife here, she flew in, So we're gonna go to the beach tomorrow and then I want to I want to see Hardy play tomorrow, so I'll probably swing back through and just enjoy it from the crowd. Nice. But the gods Smack Tour has been a really crazy opportunity. We just got off the fiftieth the Anniversary's Easy Top Tour.
3:46 They had us open that for about three months at the end of last year. That must have been surreal. That was pretty pretty epic. Definitely a different crowd and different vibe than the Gods smack folks, but I think we're able to win over both pretty well. That's a true artists in my opinion. It's a true artist where you can be in totally separate type of groups of fans and win them over no matter what genre. Well, that's a beautiful thing about rock music is that rock fans can be fans of Tom Petty, they can be fans of Lamb of God, they can be fans of you know, slip Knot, they can honestly, they could be fans of John Mayer. He does some rock stuff. So it's really all over the board, you know, true. So that's we're just kind of the chameleon.
4:29 But I've never classified myself others other than anything than just rock, you know. I love that, you know, because it's gaining ridiculous with genres nowadays and subgenres and microgenres, like it's almost like every band has its own genre. Well, people want to put a label on something so they can be familiar with it, so they can have a little bit of like maybe it's easier for them to digest if they know what they're digesting. Yeah. You know, if you look at a plate and you don't really know what's on it, you're kind of like, what the hell is this? But I'll never consider myself just one thing. I think that's why there's so much variability, not only from record to record, but if you listen to the songs throughout my last couple of records, there's like so many genres of rock within there. Even if you see our set, I think we'll only get thirty or forty minutes to day, but we're gonna play some of my really heavy shit, which for me is on the you know, my heaviest end, and then we're gonna play some like disco rock shit that just feels good, you know. So it's kind of anything in between there nice And I love that because that makes you a true artist. In my opinion, Abbey can just like play the same thing all the time, but true artists can expand and and not only that, but we do have varying interest. So it's cool when artists can express instead of somebody tom oh, you can only play this, no play whatever you want. Yeah, we've got we've been working on another new record. We actually have a new song coming out next
6:00 Sweet called Blackout, and I'm really excited about that. That's a whole new step production wise for us, and that's our first first song that like the whole team is taking a chance on us. So they're, you know, saying that's gonna be a good thing for us. But you know, you'd never have any fucking idea until you put the music out to the people and then they really decide. Yeah, nobody knows what's going to be popular or not. I mean, they just they have hundreds of what they might like or don't like. But I mean, really the people here at Rockville, the fans, and the people that are listening online or through radio or whatever. I mean, those are the people that decide if you're going to be anything or not. Yeah. I mean, you can have all the money in the world and you can still fail. You can have none of the money in the world and then you have everything you need. I don't know, it's just it's such a crazy type of life. And you know that's why ansonarists you should just be yourself because whenever you try to please other people, I don't think it goes over. Well, you've got to be authentic to you because you can't predict what people are going to like or not like.
6:59 So yeah, I'm as far as pleasing people twenty bucks is it kind of opens up my world to please And I'm just kidding. But now, man, Yeah, I've never been anything other than than what I am. And we've been doing our own thing and touring for about a decade now. My first record came out in twenty fourteen, so I do know that I am a new artist to this genre and I am honored to have any opportunity to be on this stage in this level. But we've also got quite a bit of of road dog time in ourselves, so we're not like the young chickens that don't know what the fuck's going on. There you go, well you rock, You're definitely gonna rock. Welcome to Rockville for sure, and everybody's got to check out your new music, check out your tour dates and is there anything specific with your socials or website or they just search Austin Meat and you'll find you. That's it, baby, there it is, love it. Thanks for being here, Welcome to Rockville, and thanks for being on the Adventures play Man. Appreciate it. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pikeman. I'm W for CUI Radio.
