04 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. I'm from four see wow, you wake up of America. It's time for the Adventures. So pipe Man on W four CWY dot com west pom beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man. I don't well, this is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio.

54 And I'm here with white Man. That's all. I love that. That was great. You could beat my like doppelganger by man. So here we are louder than life. Man. How does it feel? Uh? Maybe the best we felt in long ass time. Man just played like the best set probably we've ever done. Nice. So what what made it like one of the best sets ever? Probably all the work we put in. There's a lot of like mental and uh like you know, obviously practicing, but like a lot of mental preparation for it, but like all paid off. That's great. And were you're blown away by like this early Thursday beginning and a festival that you had liked, the crowd that you did, Oh no, no, we liked Open it up. We played at like one o'clock on the Disruptor stage. It was like the second main stage, but like, yeah, we we're up for the challenge opening up the festival, so I thought we killed it. So there you go, and you're beating the heat because it's getting hotter by the minute. Like I always think about that. I'm like, man, I feel bad for bands getting up in this heat and just pouring your heart out it right, It's like you don't feel it at the time, probably, but then once you get off stage, it's like, oh, I want to die. Yeah, yeah, he would say it something. My legs were shaking really after we were done.

12 Get off the stage, right exactly. I think people don't realize that, Like they see you up on stage and they think, oh, they're cool, but you know, you gotta put your game face on and you're like in the zone, so you don't even notice. You don't even give yourself permission to feel that ship until you get off the stage. I'm literally a nervous wreck. Before I get on stage, all these guys are like, oh, yeah, we're gonna play show. It's gonna be a good time over there, like symbols, symbols, Oh I don't have got a drunkie, all this stuff. So I'm glad I went as well as it did my stare mic fell off, so look at that in video if you get the chance. But that's live music, though, ship like that happens.

53 I just went with it. So I've ever played, dude, So how could I complain about anything? You know? So now once you're on stage, though, you're probably in the zone and that nervousness goes right away, doesn't it once you start. For me, it's like after the first two songs, then I finally feel comfortable, like and I don't want to leave the stage. You know. It's like this is where I'm the happiest, you know, just like doing my passion and hopefully inspiring people out there to do their do their own passion. So also this year, we finally we finally got Tom back in the band and he did Louder Life because last year we had our c and it was awesome, but now we got Tom back and it was just as awesome. If I'm more awesome. Nice He did a whole fold back just on his on his back, and it was during one I've been working. I've been working on my yoga a lot, so it's been helping me stretch my body. So now I have you ever done that and then you're like, oh fuck and no, actually that time, I like I heard a crack when I was getting up, and I was like, oh see, I love here and all this shit. This is the important stuff, you know, because the details. Yeah, and what people don't really see what They don't see it up on stage, like because they don't notice what you guys notice. You know, it's going on.

14 So it's good to hear like the human side of it. You know. People don't realize this is freaking hard work. It's fun, but it's hard work in the nervousness. People also don't realize. They think, oh people get up on stage are huge extroverts. Most musicians are like the exact opposite. Oh no, you tell me, man, I eat. I had to eat the same lunch and dinner for like the last two months just to as like my training to be here. So now I can't fucking wait to eat some greasy, nasty stuff. What are you going to eat now? I mean, I'm gonna take the free ship that's here, yeah, to pay for it, but I can't wait stuff my face with the fucking togglebell or nice whatever's the nastiest around. So what are those meals that you used to prepare. Oh man, you want to hear lunch is half a cup of oatmeal with protein powder and a canatuna, and then dinner is chicken and veggies and like a low car wrap with some saracha and that's it.

16 See, the dinner sounds good, and the and the lunch sounds good. If it was breakfast and lunch. I'm thinking about the tuna and oatmeal together. No, no, no, no together. Yeah, I'm like thinking at the same time even I'm like, okay, tuna and oatmeal now it honestly, it all helps in terms of like being able to keep the energy up on stage because like it's a lot we could go insane on stage, so like especially like I'm climbing, climbing stuff, jumping off stuff, so like if I want to be able to keep up, like I gotta really like being tip top shape. So do you ever climb up onto the like way up high on one of those things? Yeah, I love that cud.

00 Yeah, I think it was louder than life. I can't remember, but Nick from Joyous Wolf actually got booted from the festival after their performance because he did that. And then we'll never be back. We'll never be back there. But see, like I love that shit. What's his name, Jason from Fever three three three? He does crazy shit like that, and I'm just looking at him sometimes I'm like, fucking ay, because I do crazy shit. I'm thinking, you're up there singing, you're holding on with one hand. I'm like, I wouldn't trust that thing. It's not even me I'm worried about. I'm worried about that thing holding me. I literally did have I did. I have an experience one time I was interviewing Saboton backstage. I have a festival and was the end. So they're breaking down the stage and I'm sitting like this. He's sitting there and he motions me during the interview because he couldn't really say like get out of a way.

00 And I moved and the back whole wall the stage fell right where I was sitting and I never saw it, damn really. Yeah, So like there you go. The stories the storage people don't hear. Right, that goes on. I'm glad we're doing this now because it might never be back. So what you got going on after this? How are you good? Top? Louder than life? We got Aftershock and like, yeah, I'll be there too, You're gonna be yeah, that's right. Yeah, I love Aftershock. Never been to California, so really see now Aftershocks a cool festival. The vibe is cool, Like how we have this big media alcohol lounge here. They have one there too, but it's like it's a different vibe.

43 It's this cozy California vibe and everybody's hanging out. It's like really cool. That's yeah. Like I really resonated with what you were saying about most people that go on stage or introverts. That's totally me. Like I was acting so fucking weird like the past two weeks with these guys, Like I'm just like, oh, you guys want to like hang out and talk about stuff. Nah, And then I'll just like turn around and be in my own little world for a while because I'm just trying to process being in this position, being on stage and giving it everything. I guess, you know, I had to like mentally prepare myself for weeks. You know who had some of the biggest stage fright pop Ahet pop Ahet James Hetfield. Really yeah, like in the beginning of Metallica, he didn't even come out from the back. He never talked, he never said anything. He was totally not comfortable at all until he had to. Yeah, No, I get that.

39 I really get that, because like, once I step out on that stage, even song one, I'm like, yeah, I'm meant to be here, I'm ready to go right now, and she's going to stop me. I relate to that and what you said, because like I also do speaking engagements or I do to radio stuff, and I'm like really nervous before I get on stage, and the minute I step on that stage, there's like a switch and like I'm like in the zone and doesn't affect me at all. What I started telling myself last night, even I'm sure you can relate, is like as nervous as you might get for something, when you ask yourself, would I rather be anywhere else? And then the answers no, then you know you're in the right where you should be what you should be doing, rather than if that answers yes, then you're not meant to do this. Shit's no doubt. I'll even add to that because I think a lot of times we're nervous too, because we're our own worst credit.

33 And like I'm sure you have this on stage, I have it on the radio. I'm like, after an interview, I'm like, man, I fucking sucked, and then they're going, man, that was great though, was so much fun, and I'm just like scratching my head. But yeah, So tell everybody how they connect to you guys on the web, on socials, and most importantly, buy your merch because that's the only way you survived. Salvaband dot com slash shop, topaband dot com slash shop. It's not you can support us. We do like a lot of our our our designs are actually made by this guy, our bass player, Greg uh Pature, So we make like the paintings into shirts, so they're We've been starting to like customize like song releases, like a single and we'll make that a shirt like of that song and stuff like I think that's cool, that's and that that only adds more to your introvert style because artists like are always My dad was both an extrovert and an introvert. Like he was this great salesperson in the public, and then he would paint and you wouldn't see him for like four days, and he would just paint for twenty four hours. Yep, yep, that's how it works. Yeah, he just got lost in it. He'd smoke some joints and like be up for four days and not stop. We used to joke like, don't like stand still too long, He'll paint you. Yeah. No, like my process, like I'll start on something in Photoshop and I will use that as a reference, so I'll

03 like, I'll because that's where I'm I'm trained with Photoshop. I'm not trained with anything else. Everything else is just oh, I'm just winging it today. Let's just see what I can get my hands on, and I'll make something in Photoshop and I'll just go for hours. I don't want to stop because I know if i'm gonna stop, I'm gonna lose that steam and I'm gonna lose that inspiration. It always happens. It Probably it happens in songwriting. Like I'm a published author for books, and it's like I remember one book I was. I wrote it. It took like six months to write the first half. I stopped for like a year, and then I wrote the second half and like one day like I'm just gonna fucking do it.

43 Yeah, you just gotta bang it out while you're in that like creative zone. Yeah, it's so weird how it works. Like I always like to use the metaphor I'm dipping my hand in the golden river. Yeah, there you go, some imaginary golden river where I'm pulling ideas out of you know, it's not coming from me, it's coming through me. I love it. So, what's the craziest story you guys have in your musical journey? Craziest story? Yeah, I don't know. That might be going in territory. That might be a little Next question one, the one you can tell tell us you know that that's not so uncommon. Would you like to know what the number one answer to that question is. It's happened four times where they ship their pants on stage. That's the number one answer. Four times on one set. Four different artists said, oh okay. Four different artists said that. Yeah. No, man, I'm empty when I go up there. Yeah, I think it gotta be. You can't be weighted down.

46 It just doesn't make sense. Like listen, it would kind of suck if you had to take a piss even like go ahead, he's got one, tell it, tell it, tell it. I know, I know one, I know it. So there was a time. It's kind of a retelling. This is already on a podcast. David Baker, I'm sorry, I love you man, shout out. Uh. This was probably like twenty thirteen, twenty fourteen. Dan shows up to a practice. We've been going for like ten twelve years at this point. Well no, not at this point. We just started at this point. Now we're going for ten or twelve years. But Dan showed up to a practice and we're like, Dan, you're like an hour late, what happened? And he's like hovered in blood, like are you Are you okay? He's like, oh, yeah, I just wrecked my motorcycle. That's fine. Like one side of him is just covered in blood, and yeah. Roland is very concerned, and he's just like, let's go. I love it here, I love playing, I love practicing, I love being here. That's so metal right there, Yeah, that is pretty metal. What do we want to tell the listeners that we haven't covered already that they need to know about your band?

48 We've been working for stuff like this and even just talking to you for like our whole lives. So it's an honor and a privilege and just feel really grateful that we're this lucky to even play on a stage like that, to even be back here talking to you. So I guess just like it to any band that's been working at it or musician that's been working at it since they were children. Just don't give up. That's the key, right there. Don't give up. It takes twenty years at least to become an overnight success. Yep, that's right, just don't give up. Well, I'm glad you're here at Lower than Life. It'll be killer to see you over and after shock and thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man, white Man. Thanks dude, Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four CUI Radio.
