On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to the band ANTISAINT. They are from Wyoming and have been handpicked to perform at the 20th anniversary of the Download Festival. The band members express their excitement and honor at being chosen to play alongside Metallica. They talk about their experiences in Wyoming, mentioning the empty landscapes and the constant presence of wind.

Pipeman discusses the band's involvement in game design and their interest in the metaverse. They also talk about their album, which is divided into three chapters. They emphasize the importance of visual art and creating a cohesive package that complements the music. The band members mention the special touches they incorporated into the album's artwork, such as holographic edges and glossy areas.

They discuss the local scene in Wyoming and how their music has received a positive response. They joke about proving that Wyoming does exist and contemplate making it their next t-shirt slogan. They also talk about the album's title, "VANation," explaining that it represents a prophetic concept influenced by works like "1984" and "Brave New World."

The conversation moves to their performance at Download Festival. The band members describe the overwhelming energy and the feeling of being in the zone while on stage. They express gratitude for the opportunity and share their excitement about the crowd's response.

Pipeman humorously discusses the possibility of a global disaster and the need for another Noah's Ark, to which the band members jokingly respond that their angry music is their contribution. They wrap up the interview by discussing how an English member found the band in Wyoming and the chemistry they have developed since then.

0:00 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. I'm come from four s why for you Wake up America. It's time for the adventures of pipe Man on W four C why dot Com West pom beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man up Daily Building. That's the pipe Man here on the bike Man W four C Y Radio Anomire with nice all the way from Wyoming. You came farther than I did. I'm in Florida. I was just saying before. I'm like they were telling me yesterday it's gonna be hot. I'm like, I live in Florida, It's not gonna be hot here, and I'm like, fuck, this is hot today.

1:19 Yeah, it's a scorcher. I'm very surprised, Like it bloats my mind. But when the sun goes down it will be freezing. Yes, it's bipolar here. So man, what an honor to be here at the twentieth anniversary of Download Festival. Like I'd think about it, I'm gonna talking about on ours. They literally will handpick, you know, it's not like every other year you gotta do it. Twenty fan versary. You got a hand pick, and you guys got handpicked, Like, what did that feel like when you got that news? Such an honor. We were coming off a tour in the States and we found out and it was just to process it when welow your mind right, Talka is playing two Nights twenty anniversary and we're gonna be part of it, right just you know, I didn't sleep that night and I didn't sleep last night. But it's just unreal. It's a dream come true. It truly is. It's worth it too. And you know one thing I'm gonna have to do is my daughter's boyfriend always bust my chops because I have this girl I used to date. She lives in Wyoming, and he's like, Wyoming doesn't exist. So here you guys can prove to him that Wyoming does exist. Wyoming does exist. But let me say something. When when I first went out to Wyoming for rehearsals, the first time I met these guys were tall back in November. It's just empty.

2:44 There is nothing in Wyoming except for houses and land and Anti Saint and it's amazing and wind. Yeah, there you go, and that that wind is probably created from the power of your music. We'll go with that. See there you go. We did have a tornado over the house the other day, so see, Wyaming and Florida are so similar. So I heard also you were over at Roadhounds and had some cool shit, ain't it? That is cool? And you know, like I really enjoy it because I'm in game design for my other like side of life, so to be part of the metaverse and all that stuff is really cool. Yeah, it's cool as hell. I'm talking to them about we're gonna put like radio stations in the virtual thing. And I'm a gamer too, not a designer. I'm the one play in your designs. So tell us about the album because it's a pretty cool story. It's like three piece. And then I also like the idea that there's a whole like monologue about the artwork, because to me, I'm old school. An album is a full sensory experience. It's not just the music, it's the art, it's every the whole package, and it's kind of like you get immersed in it. Seems like you guys did that and made it like an old school thing instead of just track track track.

4:11 Oh yeah, absolutely. I mean I was like, you know, how are you going to get somebody's attention, a jewel case CD with a single like cover, and like, just no, people don't. People don't listen to CDs anymore for music, So it's more of a like collectors thing now. And it's also a way too like yes, you listen to it musically, but to also see it visually on kind of the how we visualize the story. You know, I love art. I did a lot of the art forty for the album, so just to create a cohesive thing that goes along with the three chapters that we release, you know, it just came out perfect the way it Who else wants to add to that? I'll go with this too. When we were getting the production done on them, the company that we were working with, they offered since because each CD was under a half hour, we could do holographic edges on the discs as well, so just so there's like little touches like that, And the cover has like a glossy area around the actual dude that's on the cover, So there's it's more than just art. It's it's almost like there's layers to the art and things that if you buy it, you're not gonna see it in a photo necessarily, you have to see it in person to truly appreciate it.

5:30 Now I also hear, okay, so there's some other small band from Wyoming and apparently you guys are blowing them away. That that is correct. We've had a huge response in the local scene out there, and I think, you know, it's just funny. People just say, oh, it's nice to see something coming out of Cheyenne. Right, it does exist, It does exist. It does That should be our next T shirt from Cheyenne, Wyoming. It does exist. See, that could be even your next album. Tell me about the name of the album too, But first he wanted to say something. Tell me about the name, So let me see if I pronounce it properly, because it is a tongue twister Vaticanation no see see.

6:19 I knew I would fuck it up. That's why I didn't want to really say it. It's all right, I think only like one interviewer has said it properly. It's participant and it's or to prophesize, not see Now that makes sense from the story, Now, that makes sense. When I first saw it him, well, at first you know what, I what word I saw? And then the next thing I saw was, oh, it must be some shit against the Vatican. Oh yeah, no, it's yeah, so it's to prophesize, and it's just a nice title over like the concept of it, because we went for like a nineteen eighty four brave New World type of concept, and I'm from that world. Yeah, we're all living in I know, right. Me and my bros were like, it doesn't fucking matter. The whole world's gonna blow up in nineteen eighty four anyway, and now we're fucking stuck. Her head's worse. Yeah, I'll take annihilation over this. Now, where did the armor getting go? We need that now? Remember the Mayan calendar like twenty years ago, I know, right, Yeah, none of that worked. Instead, we just got a bunch of assholes. Now they're doing stupid shit throughout the world. We need another Noah's Arc. Maybe maybe we could just stick everybody in Wyoming somewhere and they won't know where how to get out. That's why we make angry music. Oh man, So we how do you top download? That's why

7:51 I want to know, right, I don't know, man, What was it like being out there besides fucking sweating around? Just the moment I went on to the stage and grabbed my mic and just saw the entire tent packed. I just liked, didn't they expected by so fast? And just so I'm glad you said that too, because listen, when you're doing what you do or what I do, you can't get into this zone. So even though usually like even when they and I'm a speaker to them, when I'm gain on stage before I get on, I'm nervous. The minute I step on that stage gone, the minute I turn on the mic, gone.

8:39 It's like a switch goes on. I'm somewhere else. It's the strangest feeling because the songs themselves feel extremely slow, or at least slower than you know they are, and yet the entire set goes by way quicker than it actually did. Yeah. So it's it's this weird mind fuck of like everything slow but so much faster, and there's no good way to describe it except for that. And I know that feeling so well, because at the end you're like, fuck, I blanked and it's over. Yeah. No, it was crazy. I mean I was standing on the side and I was rushing around. We did line check, I got, you know, stretched up, and I see all my family and friends come up from London and stuff all here. I kind of see them and that's all good. And then I looked beyond them and it's the place was and I'm telling you, completely packed. I mean got behind the kit and at first, you know, you're like you were saying, super nervous, I mean, shaking breath everywhere, just completely out of control. As soon as we hit that first note going to the song, the place was like already basically exploding. It was amazing, incredible feeling. It's the type of energy where I didn't feel like I had to play at all. The songs were just coming out of me.

9:50 Yeah, totally. The crowd was giving me energy and I was just a vessel for the music. I was just trying to see that that is a great way to put it right now. I did not have to try to jump around at all. I mean, that was just one hundred natural Yeah, same thing, you know, I mean, I I yeah, I was a little nervous before it. But then, like you said, everybody's hand picked on this festival. So to have that in the back of the mind, like I'm here's you know, a bunch of people believe it's it's a relief you know. So here's what I want to know too.

10:31 How does some English dude find people in Wyoming, especially when it doesn't exist. It's a it's a bit of a long story, but short story ish is. I had to fill in on ship Rocks on basis for a band called Drowning Pool. Yeah, just a little bit, a little and a little ship. Yeah, just a little ship. They definitely did not write a generational song at all. I love those guys, love them. But yeah, on the ship I met Jackson and it just so happened. We were in need of a drummer, so we kept in contact, and then when Drowning Pool invited us out on tour with them in November, it was a perfect fit for him to just come and join us and been playing with him ever since. Nice, no, but you've done someone dirty there.

11:11 It's it's my sister, That's that's who We've got to give it to. My sisters. An incredible photographer went out with Drowning Pool and became like best friends with Andrew, and it's it's hard that I really got to know Andrew and then they were just like, hey, we need someone you drum right, and then we just kind of got off on the road and it works. The chemistry is there and we can all play good music. So it's great. See there is something redeeming about having a pain in the ass sibling. Me. It's cool, man, because like when I started this journey like ten years ago, I was Jackson's age, so to kind of bring him along it that is cool. It's like a passing of the torch, you know, no doubt, no that, And so how you feel about that, like brilliant being brought under the wing. I mean, it's it's so surreal. I mean, I've been playing music around music every single day of my life since I can remember, you know, smashing little tiny Walmart looking kits, since like you know, three run around the house naked trying to do a drum solo, got lessons. I mean, all my idols are just you know, paid festivals like this, and this one is just a lot more meaningful than like any other one. And I'm glad that this was our first festival, and I'm so glad and honor that it was with these guys who are nice. And I just have to say that when you guys get even bigger, those videos that probably your family took of you running around naked are gonna end up on t coming out. They're coming on TikTok.

12:43 Man. Oh, they are gonna be on TikTok and I'm gonna own it. I love it. So what else do you want to tell the listeners about that you got up and coming that we haven't touched on yet. We're writing right now. So you know, we just released Paradise yesterday. It's all on the single music platform and you get your music too, and yeah, just focused on the next chapter of Anti saying this was really the kickoff for it. Nice and see that's also why I was thinking it was something to do with the Vatican before I read anything, because I'm like Anti saying, well, Vatican, that makes sense. To be honest, I thought the same thing before they told me how to pronounce it too. That's so funny. So I don't feel bad now if if a band member doesn't know how to pronounce it. I didn't know what the word was until I saw like the like it broken up into how to say it right, so it's fair. I was even dry, fine, you're you know, late and call it like a phanetic pronunciation of it, and I'm like fuck, I'm just gonna have capucher this ship. I think you put it on the artwork. It's underneath, but it's so kind of blurred out that he can't read. I'm pretty sure the next record is not going to be difficult to pronounce for right, don't tempt me. There we go. There's a challenge there. I hear a challenge. That might be what we're known for.

14:11 It's just unpronounceable album titles. The Whiteman Brothers back at again. So how hope people connect you on socials on the web, check out your music, buy your merch, all that cool shit. The handle is Anti Saint Band on everything, so that's easy wherever you do your socials, that's you mean you didn't make it difficult like the band. I like the album name No. And then we also do have a Patreon, so if anybody is wanting to support us in that way, we post up videos, covers, work in progress stuff, and then there's also exclusive merch through the Patreon, So depending on your tier, you get merch credits and you know you can catch those in for shirts that nobody else can get. Then our website is Anti Saint band dot com. You can get all the merch, all the picks, and we just now unlocked the international shipping because apparently we didn't have that unlocked him. We were told, oh, that's a little important, especially if you're playing download. Yeah, just a little important. We got that fixed pretty quick. Nice. So I'm just gonna say that, not if they want to check out Patreon, but they can't listen to my show anymore unless they go to your Patreon and support you, like bottom line, because that's the only way band survives. So if you dig a band, you need to support him with merch. It's not like the old days where you know, you become this rock star because you put out an album. You guys got to work your ass off and listen. Why not support if you

15:43 like the band and you want him to be there. I don't know him in the band, but as a fan of the band, the much is incredible. I mean, I don't know where they get their stuff done, but the designs, the quality of the T shirts, like everything like create a stuff pick necklace is like everything is it's it awesome great march. Oh yeah, I'm always wearing the merch. Nice about I mean, I just gotta I gotta give it up to Matt here. He's the creative genius behind all the visuals on it. You know, he's got a graphic design video game design degree, so he's taken a lot of like the up and coming AI technology, and he's created some bangers of shirts. So it's we do everything in house where we can, so all the shirts are from Matt.

16:25 We just get printed on high quality T shirts and you know there the designs are huge. Your next album, Your next album should be a video game. I like it right, you play it instead of listen to exactly it'd be so cool. Well, you guys rock Thanks for being here at download, Thanks for proving that Wyoming does exist, and thanks for being on the Adventures of pike Man. Hey, thank you so much for having us. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipe Man. I'm w for CUI Radio.
