04 Hey, you love them too? Sure? Why you wake up of America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on w for Cy dot com. West Pond Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man w fort c Y Radio. And I'm here with our next guest who has some killer new music you're gonna want to check out. So let's welcome to the show. Kyle from a Monarchy. How are you. I'm doing amazing.

03 How are you doing man? Thanks for having me. Oh, I'm doing great. And I gotta say I don't normally talk about band names, but I love the name of your band because to me, it says it all. In twenty twenty three, definitely, that was like kind of the vibe we were going for. It's like, we're I was really inspired by like bands like Queen and all that, so I wanted like a really royal name, and we originally wanted to call our band Monarchy without the A, but then we were like that was definitely taking like so many times, so we were like an ant the beginning would have sound sick, and it just so it just works so well with like the modern day quotes culture. So it worked out for sure. I love it too. And you know what I was thinking about when you're just talking, I was thinking it kind of like it brings me back and like you're combining the monarchy and anarchy in one word exactly, because it's like with the what's going on the world right world right now today, it's like we were like pretty divided, so it's just like created an anarchy across it. But a monarchy's like one nation, one kingdom, So it's like kind of like a correlation between those two. You know. I think that's the way it should be throughout the world. I think it's ridiculous with what's going on nowadays and we just need to all band together against the people dividing us. Absolutely. Yeah, the song minutes, I don't know, if you listen to song minutes, that's basically what that whole song is about, just basically people like focusing more on the differences and about people that are just like like there's you saw the song Facebook. If

37 you voted for this person on friend me, if you voted for that person, if you believe this done, I mean, yeah, you gotta draw the line. But most of that is just stuff that I would never not be friends with somebody over. Oh I hate that crap, because listen, I grew up in a time, like I'm fifty six years old. When I was a kid, you were told if somebody asks you who you vote for, you don't tell them it's your personal business, and don't talk about politics with anybody like because nothing good comes out of it. And we're living proof of at here in two thousand and twenty three. We're just living and you can't even say something that isn't even your opinion. And what I mean by that is I have this really, really close friend. He's a pro surfing champion from the sixties, and you know, he's very, very far left wing. And we were talking one day when Trump was going through the whole stuff while he was president, and it was voted in the House and then the Senate had to vote to remove him from office, and basically I said to him. He said something about, oh, I can't wait till they remove them from office. I'm like, dude, they're not going to remove them from office. It's a It passed in the House because it's a democratic house, but the Senate is Republican. The Republicans are not going to vote him out of office, and he got so pissed at me. This is somebody I'm like, one of my closest friends who start with your immoral

08 you're this, you're that, and I ever want to speak to you again. I'm like, dude, I didn't say that's my opinion. I'm just using some common sense that that's what's going to happen, you know, And that's the problem now, Yeah, yeah, underscent, And it's just like, here's the thing. I never talk my political views. I just say basically, fucked both sides, and that's me. That's unite because I think, honestly, the two party system just needs to be done with, because now that with the key to all this division that's going on. Yeah, I always say, here's my line. I always say, they're all on the same team, and it ain't mine. Yeah, they're all it's basically us for some kind of deal, no doubt. Because listen, think about how come nobody uses this common sense? Okay, And you see people like Bush and Obama who were like enemies until now they're no longer present. They're sitting next to each other at events laughing like they're best friends. Yeah.

11 I mean, it's just so obvious at this point that like they're all playing a game and then it's just it's just it's like I said, it's just members to us, and like we're basically just sending for ourselves at this point. Yeah, And you know what, that's why I think we need people like you, artists like you that can spread this message of we need to just unite together and yeah, forget everybody else. Like the way I always say it is there's one race. It's the human race. I agree because I am friends on both sides of the political section. But I would never ever not be friends with somebody because of like what political beliefs that they have.

54 Ever, no matter, Yeah, I would never not be friends with somebody because they because I have that friends on both sides, and I just was like, we're just lets it's like have a good time and like talk about other things and because let's unite on the things that bring us together. The similarities. You know, Yes, exactly, I'm the same way, like I'm I have just as main conservative as liberal friends. It's all the same. And you know what, if I don't like certain things, they believe as long as they're not purposely harmon people. You know what you do? You okay? And yeah absolutely, just let's combine on the things like you said, where where you are the same like it just it just blows my mind that we have to be so polarized right now, and that's where music is so important because to me, music is the ultimate uniter and uh that's where you guys come in. Yeah, yeah, that's we're doing the best we can. Like e. Speadeb message. I also love that you come from U Berkeley's College of Music because that's a big thing. It's always bothered me most of my life is people with this misconception of metal and sometimes rock, but a lot of times metal, that there's no musical talent in metal. And I tell people when they say stuff like that, it's just noise. Like you do realize that metal is a derivative of classical music,

27 right, And they're like no, Au, yeah, see, all you have to do is show them at them by Metallica. Ben, They'll never say classical is not related to metal ever. Again. There you go, And did you hear the one with Bring Me the Horizon? Did one with an orchestra? Recently too, I have I did hear about that, but I haven't listen to it, but I've been meaning to check it out. But yes, I did hear that they did that. Awesome, it's pretty good. You even go way back to sex Pistols did it too, Oh yeah, oh yeah, the tech pistoles have done it. I know Dave Mustain from Medep once played with an orchestra. Bruce Digginson from Iron Maiden that's been playing a bunch of deep purple songs with an orchestra. Then he started doing like a lot of his solo songs. I think he did it in Europe and now he did in Brazil. I heard about something about that.

16 Oh yeah, that's one of my biggest inspirations of the singer of all time. Oh he's an awesome singer. And then like hal Ford was an opera singer before he was in metal, so oh yeah, yeah, it's you know, I find that metal people are some of the most talented, even if it's like you think it's a it's too fast, it's too this, Like I think it's talent when you can go that fast. Like I've played drums, I played guitar. It's hard as hell to go that fast. Oh it totally is, like you it doesn't happen overnight. You gotta like learn your skills, and you actually learned this. I mean, yeah, I've always been trying to learn how to play fast, but I definitely learned so many cool technice. So I went to Berkeley. I'm I learned it from this guy like Scott to really Joe Stump and then Johnson. Um, those are my guitar too, so big shout out to them. Joe Stump was one of the guys that taught me how to thread. He's like, he's almost He's like, thank yeah. And you know, it's funny because you mentioned Mustain, who I actually know him from way back. We hung out when he was in Metallica, and yeah, oh yeah. He is a jazz guitarist. That's why his stuff is so different from the rest of Thrash because there's all that jazz influences guitar plan absolutely like, and there's a flamenco so, I mean, I don't know if I don't think he's going

46 to played, I think Marty Freeman plays this one, but there's a freaking flamenco. So in the Holy Words oh yeah, yeah, I think that is Marty. Yeah that is Marty. Yeah no, I think yeah that's Mary pay But yeah, I know, I totally see the ja. It is like when I'm like learning a lot of their well because I like go on Ultimate Guitar or whatever tap site that there is, and yeah, of course I know a lot of times are not accurate, but I see a lot of like jazz transitions that he's done before, like in like a fucking banging thrash song. I know, right, it's I love it and I love your music too. So let's talk about your new album, which just dropped not that long ago, and man, tell us a little bit about it. So basically, it's, Um, the biggest thing that I wanted to say is like it's based. Like I was telling you this earlier, it's like a monarchy means one nation, one kingdom. We have songs from like a lot of different genre m a lot of different things that coloring the rock and metal genre. We have one song, Bernie Season, it's about protesters. That's the last song on the album. And then Menace, as I was saying earlier, is about like politics and what it's doing to this world and just corrupting people. And we have songs like Unknown Reckoning that was actually the very first song that we ever jammed to, and that's a very Black Sabbath inspired song. Then that was about like all the wildfires that have taken place in California. So it's just a mix of like of of stuff in the ji rock genre. And we have a song like Among Reasons that's

20 more of like a it's more of like an anthem about suicide because it's like, I've actually knew someone back in the day that unfortunately took took his life, but we didn't talk when that happened. So that song was very inspired by that. And then I have a ballad called Man in the Sky. I lost my father in twenty fifteen, and I wrote that song about him, and we're actually gonna be releasing a music video for that one very soon. Well that's cool, and sorry you lost your dad, but you know he's there in the music right, Yeah, totally. Like my mom actually has been the biggest champion for us since day one, so and I was like, I gotta get back to my family somehow, and and I got to like honor him somehow as well. So we shot the said Vanai's airports and where he worked because he was a stunt pilot. You may have seen him, I don't know if you'd seen You may have seen his face in some movies, like he was in the Italian Job. He was the guy that was flying Edward Norton. Oh that's w Yeah. Well, I love that was so supportive of you. I love that they were so supportive of you, because what's the opposite usually like good, a real job? Oh yeah, become a doctor or a lawyer, or a clerk at the city bank, or a fucking chef or a fucking janitors for all that, right right, Yeah, some people would rather have their kids become a janitor than do that. And you know what, you know, for all the bad stories that people would say, I've seen a lot of great stories from I

52 mean, music saves people's lives bottom, Oh, it totally does. Music has saved my life many times me too. You know, it's the best, It's the best thing that's ever happen, because honestly, I don't I would be a lossful at music didn't exist. And you know that's what I think a lot of people don't understand about music and artists, especially because you know, the stuff that making music is about is getting some of these things that are inside us out of it, out of us. And then oh yeah, it makes it even better because then you have an audience that relates to your lyrics, even if it's not the same meaning as you meant for, they relate to it. So you're not only helping yourself, but then you're helping yourself because you see how you're helping others as well. Absolutely, like, because some people don't even realize that, because I mean, as I was referring earlier, like a lot of people are extremely internal, and I was for a little bit back in the day, but then I realized that I gotta do it for the rest of the world, not just for me, because like and I feel like that's like how people become more successful, like when they think outwards, not just inwards. That's right. Absolutely, tell everybody how they can reach out to you on socials, on the web, get the new album and check everything out about you guys. Yeah, so we're mostly on Instagram. It's a Monarchy band on Instagram, and

26 we have our first debut album that's out on Spotify right now, happening that all the streaming services, but the place that we're most active on is on Instagram. I'm still learning how to use TikTok and all that. There's just like so much more platforms that are coming out that you gotta learn. Yeah, no doubt, but you definitely gotta get on TikTok because like bands are blowing up on TikTok. It blows my mind. But yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah, and I know that, and I've heard that from so many people. But yeah, it's just like to say that I still like need to learn. I actually have been using a personal TikTok. It's called Kyle is Metal and that's actually my personal Instagram handle name as well. It's just like you doing like all these playing metal things and all that nice.

09 I just like playing guitars. Some of them say like a fun fact about something that happened back in the day or something. Yeah, that's cool, like a variety of things. Well, I love it. You guys are badass. Everybody needs to check out your album, you know, and I expect to see a lot more from you guys. So thanks for giving us great music and thanks for being on the Adventures of Pike Man. Absolutely Man, Thank you so much for having me. Hey my pleasure. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four CUI Radio.
