On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Alicia Taylor of Cherry Bombs at Download Festival. They reflect on the incredible experience of performing at the festival and the overwhelming response from the audience. Alicia shares her gratitude for the opportunity to perform on one of the big stages, making them the first non-band to do so. They discuss the energy exchange between the band and the audience and the balance between performing for the crowd and jamming with the bandmates on stage.

Pipeman reveals that people were drawn to their performance after seeing their image on the large screens and mistaking them for Metallica. Alicia talks about the element of surprise in their show, such as the use of fire, and the careful considerations they make to ensure safety in their performances.

They touch upon future plans, including upcoming shows at Rockfest and a headline run, as well as Alicia's new show based on tarot cards. She explains that each audience will receive a personalized show based on a card pulled, with different acts and music choices representing each card. They also discuss their shared appreciation for Slipknot and other favorite bands playing at the festival.

04 Hey, you love them too? Sure? Why you wake up of America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipeman on W four C Why dot Com. West Poon Beach is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the white Man House. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man before see Why Radio. And I'm here with Alicia Taylor of Cherry Bombs at Download Festival. I can't believe we both came all way over to Pond to do this interview. We did it. We made it. Look at us, I know right, look at us. So I got The first thing I want to do is I want to show you a picture and I want you to tell me what you think this picture is. Okay, are you ready? The audience today, your audience today, Like if you showed that to a random at this festival, They're like, oh, that's Metallica's

34 audience. That was your freaking audience. Man, Like, I couldn't believe it. You don't know what I had to go through to get to your set. Okay. So I drove here from Nottingham and I got here like super early and was stuck in traffic. It took me three hours in the queue to get to the parking lot and then I like ran up the hill, drop my touff off here, and then I had to run across the other side of festival to your stage and I got there though. You made it. But when I saw the crowd on like Thursday morning, holy freaking shit. That's a testament to what you guys are. But that's a testament of what you guys are. I appreciate that so much, man, I you know, it's surreal. Yeah, when we first started on the stage, you know, there was a good crowd, it was decent, and then the music started playing and we started performing, and then they just started coming in droves from all corners of the field, just everywhere, well back away from us. Yea be gone. And they just started coming in like zombies, like of the apocalypse, just like staggering towards the stage, just eyes wide, jaws to the floor, a little bit, mouths opened.

52 It was just like they were like what is this? And they held, man, they held to the whole thing. Oh yeah, it's just incredible. I can tell you. In all the years I've gone to shows, all the years I've done festivals, first set on a Thursday of a festival I never had to work my way through the crowd to get to the rail as if I was at a metallic or a slipknot show, Like that's what it was like. I was like pushing people out of a way to get up to the rail. It was very, very very cool. This is probably the best show of my career so far. Hands down. This is the best experience, the best show, my favorite show. If anybody asked me in the future what your your favorite show is, it's going to be this one download twentieth opening that stage. Man. And you know, I was talking the other night with a couple of people and they were saying that we are the first non band to perform on one of the big stages.

50 Wow. So very grateful for that, very grateful for that trust, for that opportunity from Andy and for everybody I download, because that is that's quite an opportunity. That's the big shoes to fell. You know. I think what happened was is people saw on those big screens are out there. Those are like the coolest screens ever. You know, those are those are up there? You know why they're not downloads? They're metallicas Oh yeah, towers, the towers four towers over there. That's metallicas so they are laying download use them. Were we on those? You were on those? I was following that to get to the stage. I had no idea, yep, So that that's what happened. People saw how badass you are and just hell, yeah, scoot it over there. That's rad man. Thanks for telling me that because I had no clue. You know, you're on stage.

41 That's why I even showing you the picture. When you're on stage, you're kind of being zone and you don't really want pay attention to who's out there. You know. It's like sometimes just you want pretending nobody's out there kind of thing. Yeah, there's a weird phenomenon that happens on stage where there's definitely an energy exchange with the audience. Sometimes that Festivals is a little trickier because they're a little further away from the stage and there's a lot of them, so you kind of do this kind of balance between the audience and the people that you're on stage with. So you're jamming with them, you're shamming with your homies on stage, and as long as you're having a good time, everything's rod. Everything's awesome. That's all that. All that matters. We have a good time. They're here and have a good time. They were definitely having a good freaking time. I'm watching people up front too, because like I observe, and like they weren't just sitting there, standing there going, you know, arms folded. They were there to rock their ass out to your show. Thank you. That's a that's a big moment, man, that's super big. So I'm so grateful for that. And then no idea, could you if you ever told me ten years ago when I started this group that this would be happening, There's no one, right, no way, I wouldn't. I would tell you you're full of shit, right Yeah. And then at the end, I mean people just went nuts.

57 They went when you came out with the fire, yeah, okay, like nobody expected that. I didn't even expect it. I saw them climbing up I'm like, I wonder why she's not climbing up there, And then I'm like hmm. And then you came out and like the crowd was like, holy shit, yeah we've blasted that fire. And you know, I was I kind of have to make a judgment call in the in the seconds of doing that because the wind is as a factor and if the wind go it is windy today, and if that wind goes the wrong way, I'm not gonna have eyebrows tomorrow, or shoelaces or little baby hairs, so or eyelashes for that better. I've had that happened before too. So yeah, all was good. All was great. The aerialists, they were like, man, I felt that heat because they didn't know I was going to do that. Usually a breathe fire on that part, but I didn't do that today. That's what I was expecting. I didn't even expect what you did because I was I've seen you before. I was expecting you to breathe fire.

53 But that was cool as shit. Was cool. That was fun. Yeah, I had a good time with those things. It's funny you should say about the wind too, because for that when they were doing like the best way I could call it the sparklers there, they're angle grinders. Okay. Yeah, so I'm like that looks pretty scary with the girls going back and they're blowing it right at them with the wind, I'm like, somebody's hairs get on fire. I'm thinking that one's okay, you know, we we're kind of reckless a little bit, which is okay, I like just pray each other with those sparks. We're so dumb, we're like jackass. But women, you know I would do that too, but we have good fun with it. Now again, we should probably say, do not do this if you're not a professional. Yeah, don't do it. Not dicked around with these things to our degree because we've you know, we've made all the mistakes we can. And and I'll say it too, I dated a fire dancer for a while. Definitely, don't try to try at home.

48 Okay, don't take Yeah, don't guess what we do because you think like I'd be like or I could do that. No, yeah, no, no, if we made it look easy, we're doing our jobs right, we're performing right. Don't do it. Don't be stupid exactly. Oh man, So tell me what else is going on? Like, how do you what else can we talk about that we started at the top. Now what I know it's gonna be, Man, this is gonna be a hard one to top. We're gonna go home and just be on cloud nine for a while. We go home. We've got rock Fest next nice, will you be there. That one I won't be At'll be at rock Fest right when we come home. I'm sorry. I'll be on the slipnot tour with my husband for the rest of his run. And then I come home. We have one rehearsal and then we go straight to rock Fest and then I'm gonna start prepping some headline stuff, so a full headline run again. And then I'm working on a new show too, based on Tarot cards, and each audience is going to get a different reading, so it's gonna be like a personalized show for them, and depending on what card is pulled, the act will be a representation of that card. And it can be right side up, that can be upside down. I'm gonna have different music choices for those things. That's badass because I dig Parot cards, so I think that's okay, Yeah, that's psychic stuff. Run to my family, okay. So okay, that's how I'm gonna put some Easter eggs in there, as I usually do. There's gonna be some nice symbolism in there that if you're really familiar with Tarot cards and the Fool's Journey, you're gonna understand some little Easter

24 eggs in there so nice. The people who are really in the nerds about it are gonna, I think, appreciate it too. I have to say to your nails just caught my eye. It reminds me of monster muster it right, you're right, actually, yeah, they're little neon flames, right, like black light reacted. Yeah, it's it's the monster color. Thank you, and see, I'm glad I'm interviewing you today because you notice when you came up. But you know since you brought them up, because you know, I never bring them up in our ayah No, No, you're good on your husband's day to perform. I got my hoodie here, which I I showed you for the first time because I usually keep that stuff away because it's like, you know, when I wear it, it's one thing.

05 Yeah, and I got my Slipknot beanie and my slip knot shirt, but you know I don't I got There's very rarely that I will wear a band shirt at the festival that it's playing at the festival, unless they're like iconic or or in my top thing. It's insulting if I'm interviewing one band and I'm wearing something to me unless everybody else, Yeah, you're working, Yeah, yeah, if I'm working, Okay, So unless it's iconic like Metallica, slip Knot and this festival. I gotta tell you of my whole year of doing festivals, this year, I think there's like twenty of them.

45 This is the one I was most looking forward to because it's a lineup. Yeah, because three of my top five favorite bands are playing here. Yeah. Do you know what the top those three are us Metallica, who's the other one? See, I knew that would be the hard one. Does are easy? Bring me one of your favorites? It is why of my favorite which, funny enough, I didn't really get into them till like a few years ago when they came out with That's the Spirit, you know, because like Throne is like one of my theme songs, and I like Ali as a lyricist, like yes, can you feel my Heart? Totally relate to throwne, totally relate to Like the lyrics are totally me. First time I ever saw slip Knot was It's funny if a couple of years ago, you know, when slip Knot and mud Veine played at one of the Danny Wimmer festivals and it was like mud veine first time in twelve years.

48 Well, the last time I saw them together was the first time I saw a slipknot third stage OZ Fest. Ah, so okay, you were due and Metallica. I was at their first show ever. Nah. Yeah, Slayer's first show ever. Two yeah, so yeah, here and here we are looking to two sets, so this is really special for you. Then told very special one for you totally and but more importantly because cherry bombs. Well, no, but I think I'm correct in that, and maybe you can tell me, But I don't think i've seen them together. What you're about to say, The first sold out download right as a since has been named download. I don't know here, Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not sure, but the rumor is that this is the first sold out one. Well, I can tell you by the traffic yesterday. In the traffic today, it's insane, Like I didn't have that problem last year, and I've never had that problem at a festival ever. Like yesterday, I stuck in traffic forever. Today, in traffic foreveryw hours to get here right when it should have taken us thirty minutes. Same with me on a on a Wednesday when it's not even a festival yet nothing. Yeah, like, it just blew my mind. Yeah, it was brutal yea, so we made it.

03 We're stroked. I'm happy we're here. There you go. Yeah, I was it louder or rock Loho. It was one of those it swirls in my head. Yeah, I was one of those. It was louder than life because we just got our bust taken away. I remember that, which will be on the upcoming season of Girl Gang Nice. I'll tell everybody about that real quick too. Oh yeah, we're so. Girl Gang is our YouTube series. It's a talkie series, you know, cameras follow us around whatever happens to capture. We threw it on there. We don't make anything up. And the fifth season we'll be coming out soon. I don't really know a date yet, depends on the editors how fast they can put this thing together. But it's going to cover our tour with in this moment which I saw you on and the UK run here that was happening simultaneously, so id two groups touring at the same time. Nice and then the girls went out with Motionless in White too. So it's going to cover those three things on that season will be our longest season yet with the long this episodes, and it's going to be a lot cool. So now, how does everybody check that out? Connect with you on socials? All that conscribe and follow us on YouTube just you know, at the Cherry Bombs YouTube channel, and it's just Cherry Bombs is what it is. You can find us on the socials. Instagram is Cherry Bombs Official, Facebook is Cherry Bombs Official, and Twitter is Cherry Bombs Rock. So I can't remember too. Will you be at blood stuff too? No, we will not be at bloods okay, because that's another cool one that maybe one day, who knows, I'll be this marks something. I'll be there. I'll tell Michelle she has I tell

37 you what, man, you never know because not fest La is how we got louder than life and after shock. Wow, So what happens right? You perform at these festivals, If you create enough of a bang, they'll ask you for other things. People are here, you know, Yeah, so who knows, maybe today we'll bring something else there. It is. I'd be a good good thing I have And I'll tell Michelle. She's got to tell them she I put you on bloodstock. It's on you there you go. You know I'm a big mouth, I will say it. So it's been absolute pleasure. This is probably our shortest interview ever, know, but I'm going to keep within Michelle's timeline. How good. I love talking to you. Man. Every time we talk, it's it's like old friends here, just like go go. That's the way it should be. That's the way it should be. I appreciate it and listen. You your badass.

24 Your show is bad ass. And man, after that crowd out there, they'll have you at every festival for sure, we'll see. I don't know, man, there's one another one you should do that would be cool for your show, and that that's another one that I do, health Fest. I was just gonna say health Fest because many get me in health Fest. You could do it at night. You could do it at night. They have the fire. That would be perfect. I know, right. Yeah, So let's do that one too. I got some connects. I'll put some filers out to you. Let's go. I would do it for nothing because you And thanks for being on the Adventures Playman.
