The Adventures of Pipeman...
04 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. I'm coming from W four C. Why wake up of America. It's time for the adventure. So pipe Man on W four cy do com West pom Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man that you would say.
48 This is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four C Y Radio. And I'm here with I'm Jude, I'm a We're from usaage. I love it, and you know what I also love I noticed you guys are wearing your own merch Absolutely, you're the first band I think ever that both of you were like sometimes it's one that both of you were wearing the merchants. There's three of us were all wearing it. That's so my style because I always call myself I'm like the shameless promoter, and that's what you're doing. There's twenty five thousand people here. It makes us easy to find.
29 So there's so many people here, thousands of people, you'll find us a lot easier if we've got our own stomp on our chest. You know, yeah, no doubt give any good bonds to compete with. Not too look, I know, right, but you guys gotta be good to be at bloodstot com on Well, I hope. So we were here on a kind of winning Northern Arlens Mettle to the masses. Wow. So I guess it's a real pleasure to represent our home country and just come out here and do you know what the Battle Festival in the UK. So yeah, Now, did you ever imagine that you would win that thing? Yeah? Well I like that, you know, and any bond that enters it and doesn't imagine hearing their name called art at the end. You know, what are you entering for? Yeah? Exactly when and do the work? You know you're right now you're one. Did it blow your mind? Absolutely? It was one of those look over your shoulder moments and ask what who right? Momster sink him like yeah. It actually took a couple of weeks before I came to terms with it. It was like the next day after hearing the result called art, it sort of felt like I dreamed it or made it up, you know. So it was really exciting to see. I love hearing that. That's the cool thing about Bloodstock is it gives bands like you an opportunity to play at these festivals, which to me, festivals are a lot of Key, most of them major bands. Now that's how they got noticed
01 at festival. I was just saying before, like I'm we're in a Slipknot hoodie, Slipknot and mud Vein I saw on third stage Odds Vest nineteen ninety nine, like slip Knock Cott. I don't even know how they fit on the stage. It was the size of this table. That's amazing. I mean, all right, Evil got signed, wasn't it. Yeah, Evil won a thing called getting the Ring. We actually started the year with three awesome gigs with Evil. So it's been an insane year for us. You know, it's been the best year ever in the history of ostage. So we've been loving it. I love it. And so how you guys describe your music to listeners? Not genre? There he's ready war jazz, war jazz. I like that war jazz. It's for fans of Slayer on weather Report. You know what I thought of immediately when you said war jazz.
59 Go ahead, Megadeth. Yeah, if you like Megadeth, you like technical thrash A better that voivode voivod, Yes, so a better that. And you know what, lots of jazz and blues and outside of metal influences too. That's why I said Megadeth because basically Dave puts in jazz into his guitar playing, so it's kind of got that vibe to it. We all do rather we like it or not. That's right, every guitar player here. People don't realize that, Like even the idea of heavy metal, people don't know it's derived from classical music, you know. So it comes from classical music. And there's a big blues Yes, it's deeply rooted in blues, you know, absolutely. So what's besides this, what's the craziest thing that's happened on your musical journey this moment right now? Yeah, see playing Bloodstock, I mean we got to do awesome as a band. You know, we get to support a lot of our favorite bands, but this is definitely the biggest opportunity we've ever had, and it's crazy and I'm loving every minute.
11 Well, I'm loving that you're here because again, how you find your new favorite bands playing at festival like this? And you know me too as an American. There's some bands playing here I would never know of unless I was at the festival at their live show. Yeah, that's been part of the fun just kind of walking around the whole thing stick in your head and getting your mind blown by all sorts. So when you were walking around, where are people that recognized who you were? Yeah? Funny enough. Yesterday I went over to the Black Star Amps tent and the guy that was working for Black Star's names James, and he recognized us. So that was awesome.
54 Yeah, I love it. And so what was that moment in time in your life that you knew this is what you needed to do? What was that? What was that moment in life that you knew that this is what you needed to do? Play in music? I realized it was the only thing I was good. I like fifteen sixteen nice all there was something at it, and uh, you know I just fell the enjoyment of blay Van playing live and everything. That's life. That's nice. And how about you to be a musician? Yeah, seven years old seeing Elvis on TV?
39 Wow, that's so cool. You know what's so funny about that? There was a band I interviewed today that they did a gig with an Elvis tribute as the opener. That's awesome. Can you imagine a metal band with al Elvis tribute? At one gig. I love it because listen, it comes from that too, doesn't It comes from Elviss, Like that's where it all started from me. I grew up and there were like levels. I went from like Kiss and Beetles to Black Sabbath Zeppelin to Made Increase to Slayer Metallica and here we are. Yeah, man, a CDC from a start it up. Yeah, I think we both. So. I hear something wild the first time, like I Lovedaiweehel I'm a Bond scott one, but the first time I got black and Black and this doesn't happen nowadays because the way music is. I didn't like it, but because I spent my mon eyd, I kept fucking listening to it because I wasn't going to waste my money. And after listening to it, like it became my favorite album.
46 Yeah, I mean you have to at least read it. You know. I've heard people that will only listen to the Bond scott era and I think that's crazy, because like, how can you not at the very least rit the biggest selling rock album of all time. You know that even if it's one out of ten, you have to read it. Yeah, and I was always a Bond Scott person, but now if I listen Bond Scott years opposed to after Bond Scott, it's a full music, it's a more like it hits me a different way. It was more simple with Bond Scot, whereas it's more complicated afterwards. That get I get the feeling inside, not just liking the music. Yeah, I understand that there's a lot of Bonds I think progress in a very similar way that a CDC did. Then Lizzie probably did as well. Yeah, then Lizzie's one of those bonds that progressively got heavier as well, like I think Thunder and Lightning their last album is probably their heaviest one, Right, So I get exactly what you're saying.
50 And you know what, this is another thing about Black Sabbath. We're talking about those old school bonds. You know a lot of people won't listen past the AUSSI era or won't pass one check out the deal stuff or the Tony Martin stuff or Gland Hughes or whatever. And I just think, well, all that stuff's there, and it's all incredible music, so you might as well just give it a try. You might enjoy it. Yeah, like the Dio stuff was different, but it was just as good. You know. It's that in the end of the Ozzie year. Wasn't that great anyway? Technical ecstasy I could give two ships about. I think Black Sobbath's Heaven and Hell in terms of class, album cover, great production, grits, signed, grit performances. Is Pint for pint the greatest heavy Mattel album ever made. Totally first song I ever learned how to play on guitar was Heaven and Hell. Good choice, right, And then I remember very specifically going to the Mob Rules tour and it was funny. I was a kid back in the days where you would camp out overnight to buy your tickets, and I was at the very front and some dude comes up to me and it's like, hey, if you buy my tickets for I'll smoke you out at the show. I'm like sure, and I didn't even believe it would happen, and he did. He had like this MAUI wowie. And then Dio came on and I thought it was God speaking to me. So the moral of the story is got stoned and lessened to do Yeah, And then after
22 that I actually used to hang out his house when he redo not sabbath with Vivian like they live Campbell. Yeah, they lived together in Tarzana, California. I'd hang out at their house. Another Irish guitar player, Campbell. Yeah, I'll see that. He's a home hero, all the best musician she's actually it's actually from about twenty minutes away from where Aaron lives. So that's so. How do people reach out to you on socials on the web by your bird takeout tour? They told that you just type in ocdage and absolutely anything doesn't matter. If it's Spotify, Facebook, on camp Google, whatever, you'll find it all acid edge. So we're on everything. We're on every platform. You can't miss us. Nice answer anything you want the listeners to know that we haven't covered already? Guess the time on somewhere.
18 Yeah, so we're playing We're playing tomorrow Bloodstock. That is six o'clock on the New Blood stage. That's a good time and yeah, amazing slot. So immediately after that we're going to get to work. We've actually done a lot of work already on it, on our next album, which is called Perilous Compulsion. I like that. So yeah, so the concept of the album is just about, you know, being addicted to something that's bad for you, not necessarily drugs or money or women's just it's up to the listener what you interpreted as you know, you know what I interpreted, Go ahead. My second wife, who was British, A perilous compulsion, that's right, Yeah, more the perilous than anything else. The world's most alarming boner right right, well you guys rock I'm thinking it here to Bloodstock and thanks for being on the Adventures of pint Man. Hey, thank you so much for having us. Thank you very much, Thank you, he blood Thank you for listening to the Adventures of pint Man on W four CUI Radio.
