04 Hey, you love unto Yes, that's true. Wow for you. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with chan Kinchla guitar player for Blues Traveler. Here with the pipe Man. Yes. Here you should see the guns. You should see the pipes on this guy. I love it. I'm here. I'm testifying the pipes are massive. Oh yeah, wow, they gotta be right.

44 Yeah, that's because I gotta be out there in that crowd tonight for your set and fight my way to the front. Yeah. It's going to be a zoo and we're looking forward to it. And so you guys are on tour with other bands playing here today, Spin Doctors and Jim Blossoms. It's kind of been like a mini festival for us all summer. We've been out. What's up? Just bowl away? Oh, don't blast into it as you're so loud. Yeah, I am loud. Not the first person to tell me that we've been. It's kind of a mini a little mini festival because we've been out all summer. Great, just crushing it, having a blast, and it's a big, wide variation of crowds. The bands are all totally different, but we're still from that heartland of the nineties singers songwriter world from a bygone era, so it's kind of fun.

38 And all of the bands have been playing the whole time, so we're all still really good live. None of these bands went away. Oh yeah, you're all badass live like, and that's key to me. It's great if you can be great on the album, but live it is just a whole nother vibe. There's something about it. If you've been playing for thirty years together, you kind of you just there's a certain osmosis that happens that you can't really recreate. And so we've been having a blast and it's cool that we get to take it to Bourbon and beyond is our own little mini festival within festival. I know, And so I have a question. Then you guys did a cover of a song, a collab all three of you by Funny. My name's Dean, so it's covering our Dean Taylor. Yeah, And are you gonna play it here together?

21 I don't think we are. We've actually we played that early part of the summer, and then that was championed by Robin from the Jim Blossoms, Robin Wilson. Lately we've been playing rocket Man by Elton John is our collab fun song. Oh you know, we're trying all kinds of different stuff. We've been out almost three months, so there's been a lot of we've been through it. We've been through a lot of things together us, the Spin Doctors and the Jim Blossoms. And so I have actually requests from listeners. Oh I can't, let's hear it. So okay. First of all, one request comes from Beyond this World, my best bro life since thirteen that we've gone to your show together, passed away a couple of years ago.

02 Oh my condolences and his favorite show, his favorite song he always wanted to hear that. You guys, if ever played rarely play is Bigira. Well, we've been talking about bringing that back. It's a lot of words, I know, right, So it's like a whole story. John never felt never met a word. If there's something he could say in ten words, he did it in a hundred. So it's great. We do love the song and we've talked tout bringing it back. So we just got to get John to re memorize the words and we're on track all right. So the other ones that are from actual listeners in this world right on? Okay, Our Devil that went Down to Georgia. We play that fairly often because it's fun. As a matter of fact, we played Atlanta last night and of course played Devil Went Down to Georgia. But that's a fairly common rotation because it's just such a kick ass number.

51 And then how about Brother John, that one. We play once in a while. We haven't been playing it this summer. I think we played it once. We play that more often we're on our own, like theater tours in the fall, so that'll be out this year. We'll play it again a few times. I'm sure. Is there any song you plan on playing tonight that you haven't played in like forever. Well, as I said, we've been out for three months now, so we're probably just gonna bring the hits, have some fun and put a fork in it and fly home right nearly. This will be our celebration gig on wrapping it up. It start. That's cool for the end of the tour, end of a great summer. But we're all pretty cooked. I'm sure you are. But I still love I love being on the last show at the tour.

31 Yeah, it's a fun vibe because everyone's it's. Like, you give it a you're all as, you have no gas left. I'm surprisingly frisky, but I know when I see that couch, there's gonna be a nice face plant on the way nice and everyone can f off. I love it. I love it. One story, good or bad. When you're like eighty years old, you're gonna talk about this whole musical journey. What would be crazy? I mean, you know, we were on tour opening up for the Allman Brothers back in nineteen ninety and Greg was having all this problem with the Almend Brothers. God rest his soul. He Domald Brothers were constantly bickering. They had a contentious but amazing relationship, and musically there couldn't beat him. One time, we were partying in the bar at like two am and Greg Almond comes in and he had played on Travelers and Thieves and we were all banged up part doing shots with Greg Almond at the bar. Next thing, he's saying he wants to join our band, and we're just kids, so we're like, I don't know, and we didn't want to like piss off the Almond Brothers. But at the same time, you're just a twenty year old kidding Greg Almonds asking to join your band, and he was. He's a pretty intimidating guy, and he was pretty serious about it, at least drunk at the bar. So for a brief moment, Greg Almend was in Blues Traveler, You're heard it here first, because I don't think we said no.

51 Now, do you know we're lucky you're playing today because you know what happened last night? No, sir, I'm gonna show you. We were rocking in Atlanta night, all right, great crowd in Atlanta. This was last night. Now, if you look out there when you're oh yeah, and you'll see it's that Ferris wheel right here. Did they have to cancel some Uh No, it. Happened at two am, so perfect. It happened through tonight. We were code read through tonight and we'll. Yeah, our crew had to hold off this morning loading in because of some lightning. Yeah. I was sitting on the bus watching it all unfold. Was it fun? Yeah? Always, I mean it's a blast to see that shit. I live in South Florida, so I see the most wicked lightning yeah, I. Lived down there for a while. I lived down in South Beach. Oh really years ago? Mid nineties.

36 Oh well, that's when it was fun. It was. It's a lot more fun then than now. Yeah, it's a little transient, but back to mid nineties it was still like it was still kind of ghetto. Oh yeah, and party town. Yeahn So music wasn't in your life now? What's your passion. As a kid, I loved reading and writing. I always thought maybe I could be like a writer. But I'm glad I chose rock and roll, and then I maybe I could have been a barista. Nice, a blues barista. Yeah, well, something creative. I'd like to think. You guys are badass. I'm looking forward to your set. Thanks somewhere, and I hope to see a lot more of you guys in the future, cuz.

16 We'll keep coming back. We keep coming back. Thirty five, nineteen eighty seven, thirty eight years. Can you believe that? No? And yes, I know, it's been fun. The whole time has been fun. Honestly, Well it's fun for me too. So thanks for bringing on the adventures pipe Man and being here at Bourbon Beyond. Right off, pipe Man, let's go to keep it out. This is cham Kitchel from the band Blues Traveler and you're listening to the Pipe Man on W four See Why Radio.

02 Thank you for listening to the adventures of Pipemin on w fur c u I Radio.
