04 Hi, you then censure Wow for you young. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four C Y Radio and I'm here with Barson Nice from never More at Vakin. Oh Man, How does it feel to be on the holy ground? Absolutely unreal? It is absolutely unreal, not just to be on the hallowed grounds off Vakan, but to be here with never More.
47 It's it's an out of body experience, my. Friend, right right, And I mean, like, we know that's all over the world, even in the States. We know that this is the place if you're if you're going to play a gig at a festival, you want to do it at Vakin. So what's your experience been so far since you've been here. I've been hearing that the artists are treated really well, which I think is important. The best so far, the best so far far, whole too. But like you said, this is the mecal metal right. So I was. Dreaming of this place since I was, like, I don't know, thirteen fourteen, since I started listening and performing metal.
32 So this is this is mad. So what was the first show you ever went to at that point in life? Here Vakin? Was the first show you went no, I know, no, no, no. At thirteen. What was the first show you ever went to? I don't know, man, it might be Metllica have. Actually really yeah, nice, I went to their first show ever. Oh okay, So what year was that that you went to Metallica ninety eight? Ninety eight? Wow? Yeah? So is that what kind of changed your life to make music like your thing? Or was there something else that really in your life said this is what I need to do?
20 Yeah? I mean thanks to my mother, I grew up like listening to Gary Moore, Pink Floyd, like the Doors, led Zeppelin and the Purple like amazing bends like that. So it already. Brought me into that line, right into that life. And so and after I heard Metallica's I think it was a low album or something. I said, what the fuck is this? Right? Yeah, that changed my algorithm, as the cure say these.
00 I know, if we had algorithms back then, we might not have Metallica today because like some of their best songs, like Battery, they would never have waited long enough to listen to that song, right, or like Fast as a Shark. What an insane intro by the way, Battery, I know you just. Don't even expect what's about to come next, you. Know, and just it beats you with a two by four. That's right. So when's the first time you actually performed music? Oh it was I think fifteen. It was a high school like what do you call this high school band's battle?
45 Okay, yeah, battle of the band. Battle of the bands? Yeah, exactly. But the first time I started earning money was when I was sixteen, when I was studying university in Ismir and I had a band there. It was the first time I ever got, you know, paid to scream my head off. What kind of feeling was that? Because I know you don't forget that feeling, right. See what I get paid doing this? Right? What it was, by the way, it was just like scraps and stuff. I mean still. Still it doesn't matter because I can see in your face too and your expressions that like you are a true artist, because true artists have passion for the music.
33 Like what I found is real artists don't set out and say, oh, I want to be a rock star. They set out and I just want to play music. Yeah, I just want to do this one. This is my. Therapy, This is oh I love that I said that I. Believe that being human is to create something totally. You're not a. What defines to me as being humans to create It doesn't matter how big or small it is, but you have to create something good to get that out of your system. So this is mine and I can live without it. And you said therapy, because that's a big thing for me, because music's the best therapy there is for you the artists, and for me the listener. Yeah, And like I'm here at VAK in these past four days, I don't give a crap what's going on in the world. We're one big community family that you forget about all that and you can just get everything out here.
34 If you checked out our show, that was exactly what I said on stage. Really what it's all about. And I was doing an interview, so I didn't even remember. What it's all about. The brotherhood, the sisterhood, the community, all of us coming together just to you know. And there's no outsiders here. Yeah, you know, And there's no judgment, there's no negativity. I don't think the people outside of metal really understand. They look at us and oh, these scary, the evil people. Exactly, they see us like boogey monsters, right right. I have a wife, I have a beautiful chat. I'm a handsome cat jack.
17 My boy nice. My daughter would like that. Oh you're gonna see him. It's the prettiest thing ever. That's my life. I don't chill anybody. I don't skin anybody. I just. I mean, every once in a while I may cook. Someone on the grill. But that's just the people I hate. They're the ones that are in the marsh pit trying to hurt and name people. Those are the ones I want to hurt, because that's not what the pit's all about. The pit is the place to get everything out there. And the best pit is hearing voking, because you can see nobody touches or nobody like hits anybody. They were all just running around the circle, having fun, carrying each other.
07 Even Did you see that? I didn't. But early in the day I went out. To waste tell you how beautiful it looks. I saw a Celtic band playing an evanescent song in Wasteland and there was a circle pit. It looked like the most fun circle pit ever. Yeah, I think it, you know. And that's what it's about. The pit to me, is the place I could get all my ship out that I don't kick somebody's ass outside in the outside world, then I'm chill dude. Music and lifting weights is the only things that keeps me from being a serial killer. There you go. Look that funny. You should say that because I just did Milwaukee Metal Fest a while back and I was interviewing chop Top with the Ambassador Help Hotel, the Dahmer Hotel behind me as the dock drop.
05 What the fuck? Yes, that's amazing. And now next week I'm gonna make sure that I have your set and not an interview, because I've had like four interviews. I haven't even left that press step. But next week you're gonna be a bloodstock. And I love that festival too. I can't wait for that. Now, have you I don't even know. Have you guys played that before? I never did. Really, here you guys. Guys probably did. Probably this is never more. They played everything everywhere I remember it normal.
46 It was too much fun, right, Yeah. But I'm so excited for it because I have a family and friends living in the UK, so I at the same time I get to you know, visit them and see them like in the crowd, which is some of them never seen me on stage, So it's gonna be amazing. Do you want to talk about Vodkin. If you want me to? Yeah, I didn't know if you want to, So. Well, it's not my first time here, so I've done it a few times and it just gets bigger and it gets better. I know some of the people behind the Vokin thing, and they're all great people, and they've brought this, They've built a whole community of what they They seen a dream, they seen their vision and it just falls into the line of work that we do.
35 So being a part of this whole thing is one of the best things ever. Like our guitar player, Jack Katoy, he's fucking phenomenal guitar player and a second guitar player. Now his parents are here. They're from the States, and I'm like, yeah, it's gonna be the best thing you've ever seen. You're not gonna see fights, You're not going to see some dragging people out. You know, maybe you might see a guy pugin somewhere, but I don't. I haven't that happens, or pissing on the couch. That's gonna happen. But it's probably the coolest festival that you could be a part of. And the metal community once again is tremendous. And for a place like this to bring everyone together for this, I mean, this is what it's all about.
19 Everyone here is a friend and a family member that you don't even know. You can just walk over and going, man, I love Overkilled. My guy's got no Overkill shirt. And you're bros already. The guy has seen a guy with a rush tattoo already, And I'm like, dad, I love that rush tattoo. Right, you know, I can sleep on his couch probably. Tomorrow, right right, totally say. And we all have a very special bond in this type of music and I'm just glad to be a part of that, very grateful to be back. And I think it's even bigger here in Voking because like for me, this is my first time at Vaking. I've done Hellfests every year, I do Bloodstock, download all the US festivals, and when first before I came here, you know, we know it's the holy ground. It's the biggest on I'm thinking it can't really be much bigger than Hellfest.
03 Really, I haven't even fucking seen the whole thing. I haven't had time, right, I mean, it's like massive, right it is. But the thing is, like you said, I saw no issues. All these people, eighty thousand people, this massive thing, and everybody's just the nicest people in the world. Yeah. I actually have a solution to the world's problems before even coming here. But now I think this would be the venue we need to have at one festival, one metal festival, the whole world's required to attend, except the leaders securious told they're not allowed in, and we just get everybody into one big wall of death of mashpit, work it all out, and then we could hug each other afterwards, and the whole world could get along and stop being fucking divided.
51 That's right. And like Burzon said too, you can separate the crowd like that and have a wall. You guys crush those guys. Those guys crush these guys, but they know that word crushed with that is like, it's still gonna be good if. So it falls, you pick them up. We're all over. You're together to do this. So everybody plays a part here, and everyone is playing on those rules, and that's the beautiful thing because everyone comes from that. It's not like it's forced in any way. Everyone just has the same love for something and that love is within this whole place. Eighty thousand people feel that, and security must love it too, because they don't really have a tough job exactly. And I see the way they gingerly hand people over the wall, you know what I mean.
34 It's like, it's a beautiful thing. Man. Oh and I've seen the opposite as you have too. Yeah, So it's like it's really like, it's this feeling of such community, not just the audience, not just the bands, right, the fire department, the villagers, Yeah, everybody, everybody. Everybody's super cool, and that's it's one of the best things in the world to see that kind of humanity, knowing that outside of this kind of thing, there's crazy shit going on all over the world. So I'm just once again grateful to be here. Well, we're grateful to have you here. And let's hear it. Excuse me. You mentioned security. Right from where you're standing, you couldn't see that. But when the pit was going the security guys.
21 I've seen it. Yeah, you've seen it. Tell me, guys did their own circle pit? My six guys, Yeah, around one. Guy and like four of them are just certain ones. That was so cool, Like I've never seen that before in like never twenty years of doing media at festivals everywhere, I've never seen that. So that's fucking killer. Well, I'm glad you guys were here at VAKIN and I can't wait to see you next week at Bloodstock because that's another family thing. Like that's it's a cool thing about Bloodstock too. It's as family owned. Vicky was asked recently, are you going to turn into a download? And she's absolutely not. You know, we are Bloodstock. We're going to stay this way. We're gonna stay family oriented. Even a couple of years ago, you know, they always have surprise bands. Yeah, in the tent machine Head it was insane and had a little tent, yeah, Like, and then on Fridays there everybody wears pink because they have this. Sophie Lancaster was a goth girl that left the gig and got jumped and killed for being goth, and so Bloodstock pays homage to that stuff. And that's more about the metal community.
46 We always pay homage to the people that need it, and we help each other. I'm sick and tired of the attitude of people who were real scary, like blah blah. And you know, maybe it's good though, because it keeps the assholes out and it just keeps all us good people in. Sure, it's not commercialized enough to get corrupted. So I like that. There you go, g I love it. Any final words you guys want to give. Just grateful to be here, Grateful to bring ever Moore back for a second chance, and being accepted by the fans that have accepted us and accepted our new members as family members. And we are a do or die band.
30 It's five of us, it's five against the world, and we have a world that we fit into and this community bloodstock, vaking all of these beautiful festivals that we're happy to attend to, and just very grateful. To be here. Well, I'm grateful that you guys are here. What do you want to give us? Final words? I just want to thank all the fans for this is going to be a personal go for it. Just want to thank all the fans for accepting because I'm a huge fan of Nevermore and if I heard from the outside that there's a new guy filling in the shoes of World.
10 I would have said, fucked that guy. Yeah, So I want to thank all of the fans for this huge positivity. It's it's it's insane. Well, we want to thank you for giving us fucking great music, being here at vaking and just making us feel good and giving us that music therapy that we all need in this world right now. And I can tell you I'm here and with you guys. I don't feel any of the shit that's going on in the world. I just feel a lot of love. And that's what it's all about right there. It is. Well, thank you for being on the Adventures of pipe Man.
54 Hey every one, I'm Batzan and I'm from Nevermore and I'm Pipemin on the W four CY Radio. It's fucking amazing. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipemin. I'm W four c u I Radio
