04 This is the Pipe Man here on the Adventures of Pipe Man W4CY radio, and I'm here with.. You were here with Gob. I'm Tom. And I'm Theo. Nice pipe. Nice pipes. Nice. Listen, you're here at fucking Warped Tour, man. That's awesome. Like, whoever thought in 2026 we would be sitting here at Warped Tour? Not me. Right? I kind of thought we would be here.
44 Actually, I was joking with somebody earlier about what should be done in your pit, but I don't know if it would really be a good idea. But I thought it would be really cool. Like, I've been in a lot of weird pits lately. Like, I was at Vakan with dinosaurs in a pit and crabs in a pit. I say people should be, like, throwing around gobstoppers in your pit. That could get painful. You know, there was a point where we started asking for tips while we were playing, and people started throwing loonies and toonies at us. Oh, my God. Painful. Like we were taking cover. Yeah, that's not good. I mean, we made a few hundred bucks out of it, but it hurt. It was only because I was, you know, strip-teasing and taking my pants.
26 Off for everyone. Well, that's the way it should be, right? I should have had dollar bills, yo. They were throwing the coins to make him put his pants back on. I know my partner in crime here would be happy with that because she said to me before I even set up any interviews, you got to set up an interview with Cobb. I'm like, okay. Nice. Well, thank you. Was there a time where someone on the bus threw like a coin and someone pulled up their... Was that me that pulled up and then the coin stuck to my nutsack? Yes, I flipped it. It was all. Quiet and then everyone laughed at the same time because it was like an unbelievable Olympic pole vaulting thing. You know when that guy from France, when his boat or his giant penis.
14 Hit the bar? He's doing something he shouldn't be doing with his nutsack out, and I flipped a dime. In the air. Slow motion, and then stuck. Oh, my God. You couldn't even practice that. I thought I might die, like I couldn't catch my breath before I was laughing. It was crazy. Did I even say it? Did I go, heads? You know, one of the questions I was going to ask you is like, because you guys like to tell stories, what's the craziest story ever that you haven't told anybody? And I think that's it. I don't even think I have to ask the question now. I mean, I don't know. We have so many. But that's a good one. That's a fun one. I don't know if you have any on the topic.
55 There was that time when we pulled up to do a show in Calgary when it was like 10 a.m., checking at the hotel. And then I asked you, I said, do you have a loonie or whatever for the chocolate bar? He was like, why would you want. To get an O'Henry at 10 a.m.? And then I just got it. So beside the lobby while we're waiting for all these people to check in and we were just so tired, I opened the side door and all these children were in the water with their parents. You know, they're on the side and they're swimming in the pool beside the lobby. So I opened the door of the lobby and then I threw the O'Henry bar into the water. No one even noticed. It was like perfect. And then I'm like, oh, I just wasted that. But literally within a few minutes later. a young kid comes running out with his towel and went into the lobby and was like, there's a turd in the pool, there's a turd in the pool. And everyone screamed and evacuated, so that's pretty fucking worth the dollar.
53 I think that's pretty fucking punk rock right there. Yeah, when he asked for the dollar and then bought a chocolate bar, I was like, what are you doing eating a chocolate bar at 7 a.m. before we check into our hotel room to sleep? And I'm like, just shaking my head, looking at him, and then he opens the door and tosses it, and I'm like, Nice. Right? You know, I carried on the tradition because I also played in Sum 41 for years, and our drummer would cold plunge after the show. So I would sneak in right off stage, grab a little chocolate bar, peel it, and throw a little turd in his cold plunge for him. You know, the thing is, the Canadian O'Henrys, they don't float. Really? Yeah, because, like, you know, the movie Caddyshack, when they threw Bruce in there or whatever, that one floated, but I don't know if it was a prop.
36 Well, that's why kids use an O'Henry instead of a Baby Ruth. Yeah, but I don't know if that Baby Ruth, I don't know if they just did it for the movie or prop or whatever, but it's just good to know, just so other people, if they ever try it, it doesn't float. In 2026, it would probably be like an edible or something. You know, actually, one of the.. Actually another best part of that whole story was the pool guy was using the long pole with the little screen and he was hitting it and pieces of peanuts and chocolate were coming off and all the people the kids around were all going because they thought it was like a real turd so it went far that that went that dollar sure went pretty far.
17 That that was that was totally worth it totally worth it you You should have resurrected it so you could use it again. None of that story is a lie or any exaggeration. It's exactly what really happened. Are you trying to say that the rest of your stories are exaggerations or lies and that's the truthful one? No, a lot of yours are. They take on a new shape every time you tell it. pretty accurate that's what comedians do anyway isn't this. Though how you get along being on tour and doing stuff like because otherwise you might you like get pissed at each other but instead just have a good time and pull pranks and do bullshit like that for sure yeah you need tension breakers yeah because there's so much shit that goes on I think people don't realize that when you're a band and you're together like 24 7 you know You got to do stuff like that or you might kill each other.
10 Yeah. I mean, the reality of touring is playing shows is amazing, but that's like an hour of your day. Right. Exactly. Of show days. And then traveling, like being places is great, especially if it's a new place. You've never seen it. You can kind of walk around in a new park, go to a museum. I don't know. Check out the restaurants. But the majority of it is travel and travel sucks. Right. Right. Like being on planes for extended periods of time. For a lot of people that don't do it often, that's nice. It's like a plane. But when you're doing it all the time, you're just tired just from flying. Yeah, and I love planes. Go ahead. When you said kill someone, we are on to bass player number eight.
53 And we don't know where the rest of them are. They haven't found the bodies. They're floating in a pool somewhere. With chocolate on them. They'll float down here. Oh, Henry. All right. So now I have a trivia question for you because, you know, your name is a mysterious acronym. So the punk band MDC, how many names is attached to that acronym? Do you know? To the gob acronym? No. I don't care about your band. Okay. Okay. To MDC, the punk band MDC. How many names are attached to it? Yeah, like... I mean, I only know the legit one.
37 Tell me what the legit one is. Millions of Dead Cops. That's one legit one, but there's like eight legit ones. There's eight legit ones. Legit ones. I think AFI was like that. They were a bunch of fucking idiots at first. There was a fire inside. It's funny, too, with DRI, like, you can't find it unless you put dirty, rotten imbeciles. Like, it's weird when you Google it, and it doesn't come up. But then if you know what it means, you can find it. Interesting. I didn't know that. Now, gob, that one's easy to find. Okay? Well, is that really an acronym? No. Or is it? Or maybe it is. What do you think it is? I think it's exactly what people thought it was. I don't even care about band names, but I think you were just sitting around partying, and somebody was choking and spit it up, and they're like, we'll call it GOB.
34 That's not really the story, but that's what I made up right now. But if it is an acronym, what would you think it was? Oh, man, that would be a hard question, right? It's not good old boys. Although we used that song from William Jennings. It kind of is, good old boys. There, see? I revealed it. Shh, don't tell anybody, okay? That's just a secret between us. Do you remember there was a punk band in the 80s called Gay Bikers on Acid? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So you probably toured with them because of your name.
17 Yeah, I don't think we did. We might have been on a festival with them somewhere. I don't know. We did tour with, or we played a show in Reno, Nevada, wasn't it, with the other band named Gob? It was another band. It was like a noise core. That was the Gob Square tour. We played a game of soccer against the other band, Gob, for the name Gob, for keeps. Guess who won? They did. Well, yeah, because you're here at fucking Warped Tour. Again, where are the bodies? We don't know. Maybe they're out there somewhere in the festival. You have to go around the festival and find them. Don't look in the porta potty.
01 Well, you guys are freaking amazing. I'm so happy you're here in Montreal for the Vans Warped Tour. And thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man. Yeah, man. Thank you. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipe Man. On W4CUI Radio.
