04 Hey, you're listening to The Adventure of. Pumlin on W4CY. For you. This is Pipe Man here on the Adventures of Pipe Man W4CY radio. And before we bring our next band on, we have somebody that's going to introduce them. And you might know him. Let's bring on Macho Man. This is Macho Man Randy Savage coming at you louder than life. We're coming at you hard, coming at you strong, bringing Texas. Hip to coalition. That's my best. I'll try.
44 That was fucking great. That was fucking great. Thank you. You should just keep that voice the whole interview. I do a lot of our promos doing that. I'll dress up as Macho. It's pretty funny. Oh, that's great. And you do have that kind of look that you can pull it off. So, here we are at hotter than life, I mean louder than life. Like, I ask every artist, like, how the fuck do you perform in this heat, man? It's like, oh my god, you just give it your all up there while we're just watching and complaining about the heat, and you guys are like doing fucking flips and shit. You just peel your clothes off yourself after you get done, you know.
26 Right? Or just as you're playing, either way. Yeah. I like the as you're playing part. And then stay in the artist catering all day until you go on. Well, that's the move right there. That's the move. How was artist catering today? Oh, delicious. Delicious. You want to take it? It was good, brother. Oh, look at it. We got two of you here. Maybe one of you should be Hulk Hogan and you just have a battle. I think Donald Trump's here, actually. Tell them how catering was. It was great. It was really great. They told him to wait. He didn't do it.
07 That's two interviews in a row that Trump came up to. Oh, no shit. Yeah, the last interview, you know, they're a punk band, and one of them's from Puerto Rico, so we had a lot of ice talk. And it wasn't fucking cool. Oh, right. Because ice ain't fucking cool. Yeah. It just has a good impersonation, I would say. Yeah, exactly. Who else can you impersonate? Carl from Jimmy Neutron, just to be for real. It's perfect. Have you ever saw that cartoon? Have you ever seen it? I have, I have. What's your act, Jimmy? I've always wanted to go to Louder Than Life. It's my favorite. And who's your favorite band at Louder Than Life? I'm excited to go see Limp Bizkit tonight. Not you, the other guy. No, not him.
56 Carl Weezer. Oh, probably Limp Bizkit as. Well, yeah. So, wait. You don't like Texas... Texas Hippie Coalition. Yeah, it was really good. I mean, I gave you the fucking lead in, man. And you're promoting Limp Bizkit. You don't need your fucking promotion. Nope. See, how many interviews do you do like this here at Louder Than Life? Not many. See, this is what I love. Yeah, this is a different style. I dig it. Yeah, you kind of have almost more of a podcast style. Yeah, it's the way it should be, man. Like, you guys are artists. You don't need... So, why do you call yourself Texas Hippie Coalition? What's with these vests? Are they your, like, gang clothes? Right.
50 They're double as sweatsuits. Yeah, they're complete sweatsuits, yeah. I think you should sell them as merch as weight loss items. No, for sure. Trying to pass a drug test is sweating out your coalition cut. Yeah, there it is right there. So... For the listeners that don't know who you guys are, and they know all your characters now, tell them why they are so missing the best set of Louder Than Life. Hell, I mean, we're going to be at the bourbon bar over there. It's going to be real intimate. It's going to be real sweaty. It's going to be kicking your ass. Just 30 minutes of a... Just beating you up.
36 We're used to doing an hour and a half every night. And so when you condense it all into 30 minutes, you're just going to fucking supernova real fast for everybody. So I'm just saying, I don't know when this is going out. They'll probably miss it. But 7 p.m., if you're here on the 19th, be there at 7 p.m. We're going to whoop your ass. I do love that big bourbon bar. That is a cool. Like you think of it, like somebody said earlier, Norris, like it's going to be like this little like jacked up trailer. And it's actually a sizable stage. Oh, dude. And you're in the shade. Yeah. That's the benefit.
18 Yeah. You got the coolest stage at Louder Than Life. And I mean that literally. Yep. Yep. My God. So what else do you got going on now that the listeners need to know about, you know, or for the rest of the year? What's the deal? Well, we just put out two albums at the same time. Holy fuck. When people aren't putting albums out but like every ten years you're putting out two at one time. We did two. We did two. It's pretty wild too because we did one that's kind of like a... It's honestly a country record and it's like a heavier country record. And it's called Stone Cowboys. And then we put out a regular Texas Hippie Coalition record at the same time called The Band of Outlaws. And, yeah, so, I mean, we hit them ten songs apiece, double album, you know, at the same time.
08 That's true. Yeah, our new single, Band of Outlaws, is officially released now. You can actually go buy the records right now at THCOfficial.com. Nice. You know, buy a t-shirt while you're there. No, wait, wait, wait. I got to interrupt that. They have to buy any fucking merch, t-shirt, and other things, or they can't fucking listen to my show. Yeah, damn right, guys. Damn right. You better log off right now if you don't already have one. Yeah, our new single, Band Outlaws, I think it's number 15 on the charts right now, on the SMR charts. So yeah, go to your radio stations and call them. Tell them you'll blow them up if you don't play Band Outlaws by THC. Yeah, oh, hey. By THC. Let me tell them this, too.
49 Yeah, I guess a really good thing to mention, too, is that we were with MNRK, the label, for years, and this is our first. We started our own label. Really? Yes, our singer, you guys know, Big Dad Rich. He loves himself as he should, and he called the label Big Dad Records. So instead of Big Dad Rich, it's Big Dad Records. These are the first two albums that we have released on our own label. And so that's why we are asking everybody to call in to radio stations like you used to do back in the day. Right. Because the only reason we've got up to 15 right now is because people are calling and asking for it. Wow. I love it. Listen, I live in South Florida. I have a few friends that are outlaws.
37 Okay. And they'll come visit you if you don't buy their merch. Yeah, there you go. And you don't want them coming to visit you. No. THTOfficial.com. I want to know, too, how many times people search you and they find a dispensary instead of your band. You know, I think he bought that website domain like 25 years ago. It's like he must have had some long vision to realize this was going to happen. Right. Because you go to look it up and we're the first thing on there. You can go buy our merch when you look us up. There it is. I love it. What else do you want to let the listeners know about you guys that we haven't covered already and nobody else has covered either?
17 Well, I know, I mean, we're filming some stuff here today at Louder Than Life, so there may be, you know, a new music video or something coming out, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Also, you know, just the tour dates. This is our second day on this 40-something day run. My God. We're going to be everywhere. After this interview, just look it up. We're probably going to be in your town sometime soon. Come check us out. Come see us if you're not here tonight. It probably won't be as hot. Exactly. And it'll be a longer set. I gotta give you guys props. I don't understand how bands, it's like picking your children. You take an hour and a half set and put it into a half an hour and try to decide what's getting cut.
04 Oh, that's no why. Yeah. Cause I mean, it's like there's, you know, cause when you're doing an hour and a half, you're like kind of building a certain kind of momentum, you know, it's like a story. Yeah, for sure. You know, like you don't want to get to the punchline too quick, but that's why like 30 minutes, it's like, you just got to beat them up for 30 minutes. I feel like it's almost like you got to play the encore song the minute you get on stage. Right, yeah. You know? And shut the fuck up. Yeah. Like, that's the other thing, too. Like, you just got to power through and not talk. Well, that's the thing about us. Our singer, Rich, man, he's the story guy. He tells stories. See, I like the stories. Yeah, and so he's trying to figure out, you know, I think he's got, you know, maybe a little less stories tonight and stuff, but that's kind of, you know, something about this THC show that's maybe a little different than, you know, our average one.
47 Well, that's what I'm saying, too. Like, sometimes it's the best part of the set, but if you're only doing a half an hour set, You can't really do much storytelling. Yeah, yeah. Like, I don't like certain things where people talk for a half an hour in between every song, but I also don't like when I go to a set and it's just one song after another and they don't even say as much as, hey, it's this song, you know, because they're just rushing through it. Yeah. They don't know why or like say, hey, this is this band or here's our website or, you know, check out our merch or whatever, you know. Exactly. Exactly. Little do they know that we're going to play three songs in our 30-minute set tonight. And 15 minutes of it is going to be Rich talking.
29 Well, just kidding. Even talking about hippies, could you imagine some of the music, like a Grateful Dead set for half an hour? Like, that wouldn't even be one song. Right, right. They'd have to cut the song. You know, and another thing about that, too, is that, you know, the fans' favorite songs aren't necessarily our favorite songs. Yes. We can throw in the songs that we love playing. You know, when you're doing this, we still... We love all of our songs, but it's like, you have to go to the bigger ones, which is not necessarily your favorite song to play, you know? Exactly. You play it all the time. Well, and I've heard bands at festivals, like, literally say straight out, well, we're playing this song next. We don't really want to play it. We wish we didn't have to, but here we go.
17 Yeah. You know? So. Anything else, A, if you want to add to this about anything going on or your fucking personal life? What are your passions outside of music? Well, I went to trade school for welding, and I work for an artist in OKC. Nice. He does a bunch of art. I have some art in front of skyscrapers. Pretty cool. That is pretty cool. How about you? I have a few other bands that I play in back at home, so I'm always constantly playing shows or rehearsing or recording when I'm home. Or I just like to hang out with my kiddies, man. His passion life is kiddies. It's kiddies, dude. You can't ever go wrong with some kiddies.
00 Well, you know what, too? There's an organization here that has a booth, and it's called Take Me Home. Yes, we actually got a ride from them earlier to come here. Okay. So, they sell a t-shirt that says, show me your kitties. Wow. I know, that's what I'm saying. You should wear that during the set. How about you? I got a recording studio at home. I record bands and stuff like that, whatever, you know. So, it's pretty just mostly music all the time. Nice. My wife gets tired of it. The drum set's always going and shit. Yeah, well... Good. That's too loud.
45 You're too old. Exactly. Well, I'm just thinking, I'm divorced twice, so... I wish I could annoy my ex-wife more. Right? Oh, my God. That'd be great. I was that dad, too. Like, I, you know, my children, they try to stop me from buying loud shit for my grandkids. I'm like, fuck that. I did it for you. I'm doing it for them. You have no say in the matter. And so it did give me a lot of, you know, joy to get, like, drum sets and loud stuff to annoy my wife. that was the joy of it so I guess ask you a question the most fucked up story you can think of of recording a band that you've had that you were like oh my god I wish I didn't take this job you don't have to mention who the band is I don't want you.
41 To yeah man god I had one not long ago probably when you helped record our Right? You were engineering on our shit. No, I mean, I can think of a couple. I mean, the biggest one is, like, people will come in and they'll be like, yeah, I've got some pre-production or something. And it's, like, on their phone or whatever. I had one band come in not long ago. They just, I went to mic them and, you know, set everything up. And then I started and had the click track going. Not a guy could play to a click track. And so I was like, okay, then I'll just record you all at the same time. They can't play together. You know what I mean? So it's like. Whoa. Yeah. Yeah. That happens a lot more. That's why I asked. Cause I'm sure you see a lot of shit. Why does it sound bad? I'm like. I wonder why, you know?
25 You can put a dress on a pig, it's still a pig. Yeah, yeah, I know, for real. You know? And I'm saying that's why I ask that, because I know you probably have a lot of those situations where you're just like, oh my God. Or people bring their kids to the studio or some shit. How about when they bring their dog that barks the whole time? Yeah, yeah. For real, though. Yeah, my dog's barking up. Yeah, right? Well, you guys fucking rock. I'm glad you're here at Louder Than Life. I think it's a lot better here than Carolina Rebellion. The last time I think we talked, that was it. Yeah. Yeah, that'd been a while. I was in the band then. I was too. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, see that? So now, we've come to a big time. Look at how big this festival is.
11 Oh, it's huge, man. Fucking unbelievable, man. Yeah. It just shows when people say rock is dead... You better go fucking Danny Wimmer Festival and you'll find out. Looks pretty alive here. Exactly. And that's the last question I want to ask you. How does Danny Wimmer treat you guys as an artist? Amazing. I mean, our catering, our green room. I mean, you know, it's a big campus, obviously, but every time we need a ride, I mean, you just send a text message and somebody shows up with a golf cart. Nice. Thank you, Danny Wimmer. I will say, though, we told him black towels, and he gave us white towels. I'm totally kidding. I'm totally kidding. I'm kidding, Danny. He treats us great. You could have made a list like William Shatner. Do you know about that?
56 No, no. Oh, at another festival this weekend, I will not name, William Shatner is, and I think it's today. is debuting at 95 his new heavy metal band. What the fuck are you talking about? Captain James T. Kirk is a metalhead. Wow. Wow. Right? No, that was fucking real. It's absolutely real. He's doing a 30-minute set just like you guys. But he did have a rider of these special demands. And one of them was that they had to rename a ship in Chicago so he could once again captain a ship. And then he had no golf cart. You mentioned golf cart? It has to be a DeLorean instead of a golf cart.
55 What the fuck, dude? And his most important demand, okay, it was on Good Morning America. They forgot it. They listed all those demands, and he tells Good Morning America, you forgot the most important one. I need a bowl of sauerkraut in my dressing room. God. Because apparently, I guess, that's the key to longevity. Well, yeah, I mean, him being 95. Just when I think I couldn't like him more. Right? Oh, my God. You guys should do a tour together. I would love that. How fucking funny would that be? Who doesn't want to tour with Captain Kirk, bro?
36 You know, and maybe you could, like, arrange something where you get a spaceship, and that's how you arrive to the venue for loading. Only if we can talk about all the conspiracies that he brings up in that show he was in. What was that show called? You remember that show? It's where it's just William Shatner talking about freaking conspiracies over and over. I don't remember the name, but it was like Alien something. Yeah. Yeah. Crazy. That's insane, dude. That's insane. So there it is. We're going to wrap it with Kirk. You need to hook up with the Texas Hippie Coalition, okay? Or else, we're taking your little emblem off your shirt.
20 Yeah, dude, and we'll give them half price to buy on. There you go. See? Just because you're getting the senior season discount. That's what it is. Early bird special, bro. Exactly. Thanks a lot, guys, for being here on the Adventures of Pipe Man. Thank you, brother. Thank you for listening to The Adventures of Pikeman on W4CY Radio.
