04 Hi, you love done too? Here crue for se Wow crazy Young. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventurance Pipe Man W four c Y radio And I'm here with. Frank from Viking Sko, Larry from Viking Scow, Gordon from Viking Scow. First of all, I know from you. Where in America? Are you from New Jersey? Bro? You know what's funny about that? That's where I'm from. Like big shout outs to Fat Man's the band from New Jersey down by Wild didn't all that love that ship?

47 That might obey nice nice. Good seafood, lovely seafoods. The crabs Are you talking about the women? The women? Yeah? I love the crabs. J tay You what you always go home knowing you've had them? Yeah. I used to go crabbing at Snap Snap. I used to go grabbing at CBGB's. I've been to the toilet CBGB's. It was a very it was a good experience. Oh yeah, tell us about it. Basically, there's no doors, but there's just a toilet in the middle of a room and you've got just have a ship. There's no toilet room. Bad times.

30 Well you should have felt that homecause I should have took it with me. Yeah, well I feel like here in the UK, like you guys just piss anywhere. Yeah, but you don't ship anyway. You need cloud like fluffy clouds toilet roll fluffy clouds. I need time. I need time and emotional. Time to go toilet support like you don't want to sit anywhere. Yeah, well I guess that's true. Although there has been a trend lately in music vessels not bloodstock, thank god, shitting in the marsh bit have you heard about that? About it? But like anybody like me, he's going to. Get elbows, Like, what the fuck? What the fuck's going on nowadays? What is wrong with you fucking animals? Anybody that ships near Viking skulls getting elbow smashing.

15 Karate kick the fuck away? Apart from if it's fucking Gordon, who has got previous for this kind. Of a wait? Wait, wait, wait? What's funny about that? Is? I have this question. I asked one story, good or bad in your whole musical career, what really sticks out of your mind? The number one answer from artists has been when I ship my pants on stage. Gordon, I'll let you take over ship myself on stage in Wales, but I didn't say anything to anyone, then wipe my ass and then put it in our guitarist's chips and chips as you are having some.

55 Food, added a little flavor, right. But like you know, I've known to be pissing people's beers. And ship. Pissing the pie. Yeah, so wait when you piss a beer that then doesn't taste like budwise. I don't know, I don't. I don't drink that ship. The other guy, we don't drink. We love America, but we don't drink American beer. You know what's weird. I just got here from vaking like some of the best beer in the world in Germany. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and the major sponsor that we're all the beer was Budweiser. Like, how the fuck do. You get Prohibition days, isn't it? It goes back the Prohibition days. I watched a documentary on YouTube the other day because I'm unemployed and I've got nothing better, and it was incredible. I didn't realize all these families they were doing that, and it's just basically pish water. Yeah, the German guys, the immigrants that come to America.

55 Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh honestly, Gordon, you'd love it. Watch it, watch the docum Menchi just put YouTube Budweiser pish and you'll love it. We got so today on our rider it was cans of Carlin, which may as well just thrown the bin. It's like you may as well just tip it on the floor. Yeah, it's got nothing, it's just got nothing in it. We're heavy drinking. Were heavy drink, okay, So we bought our own beer with us because we know it was gonna be short. What's your beer? Stella? Okay, Jack Daniels Guinness. So I was married to a British girl. I was married to a British girl and me drink a snake bite?

36 Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, that's a university right, a passage acts. Right, you know what? Like my dad don't drink, but the only thing he drinks is a snake bite. Really you don't drink, but that's the one you pay. So we used to go to rock club when I was about sixteen seventeen and it was all about snake bite, just like cider and black current or right, do a turbo what was a turbot? Or they'd do another one. It would be cider and smell off ice. Wow, half and half a turbo shandy or something like that. Wow. Yeah, it was I don't know. I didn't really like the snake bite, but you know, I'm an American, so that was like that was like a shock.

21 Drink at a university. And then like at eight in the morning, you'd have a lecture and everybody had have a black current mustache, and you know who'd been out the night before. So I get quit that pint and I'd be huey and my ring up the next morning before I'd go in and i'd be like that, and I look about and there's all these birds there, stunning birds, but they've all got that snaky bee tash and you'd be like, oh, she's rotten that bird. I don't think it was that. I think it was your fucking spunky Wonkey. So I gotta tell you I like these late in the day interviews because they're always the best. You know, you've had time to have a little fun.

04 We're not young, we're not young. We've been around the block a few times, you. Know what I mean. So I gotta tell you, until last week at Balking, my funniest interview ever was with airborne after they were drinking bourbon for an hour. Okay, it's just pre Peel Coolby Pye, isn't. It's stay close. So then I interviewed somebody else last week and they were so pissed that the girl in the band was pretending she only knew German and didn't understand until she asked me if she could sit on my face for thirty days.

44 I mean, golden will do that. Yes, I'll do that right now. But now I told them, I told them they won. I'm just ask you, guys, I think I've topped it. Hey, it's just pre We're from Coolby, and that's just that we grew. This is just normal. We haven't even over overdrive yet. Oh good, I'm glad. Really even. I think ask her. I should probably tell you the ex wife story then, based on what they said, Oh okay, oh yeah, thanks cat. All right, So I was married to a British girl.

24 And when they come over to America, they act like they're royals, like, oh, Hoiti toy dish. They put this fake shit on and they're like. Women, wait, wait, wait, wait coming Coolby. You don't meet any coming like that. I tell you, so bad going on abouts. You haven't got to punchline yet. Oh sorry, sorry she did. She didn't tell me where she was from. So during the day she was miss oh, I'm miss British girl, and then she become fun party girl, and then she become the most batshit crazy girl you ever met. After fifteen Morgan readers come to find out she's from Newcastle. Sorry I starting corrected.

07 That was a while from Newcastle, right, See, so like I should have been Newcastle, goes Oh, ship. I've dated folk. There must be something fucked up with me. Then, because I've dated both. You look like you would attract the wrong kind of goal to me. I definitely, we've all got that same kind of look to be fair. Yeah, saying into the mic. Nix cool as fun. We need to hang out later. You guys are fucking cool as fue. I like you guys. Yeah, you woke You woke me up, but I was I was getting tired from all the interviews.

48 Today you're hanging yes, see. That cool ship Ringo Star mother. You know what's. Funny about that? So that is I was at festival last year. Ringo Star was playing everybody in the festival. What thoughto was Ringo Star like it was a trip and. I'm like, you do have Ringo vibes, but that's not how his. Hair though, well my hair was dark at that festival. Ringo is well, thank you to be fair. Ringo is one of the best drummers I've ever had. He's the reason I started kid. I'm a drummer as well.

28 Likes like some of the like the Beatles that they were on another level Ringo. If it for Ringo, they were the groove they got. I was a Beatles fanatic and Ringo Stars why I started playing drums like he was so freaking amazing, you know. So simple but sov. But you're better than Ringo right. No way Ringos called. It's like he's got a ticket to ride. That's the drum ship. Yeah, you had it perfect though. That is him. He's like do do do do? Do do do? He only had four only had four drums and two symbols, and that I have.

10 I even bought the same kind of drums as him. I even bought the same kind of drums as him, because I'm like, I want to be Reno Stars. The thing. He does, man Mac is the man. And then you got Landing's like a street. George is just like some sort of is he and chips. George Woods probably sitting there. George is probably sitting there and going, what the fuck is wrong. With these people? Okay, George a minute, he does have, give George vibes. He gives George vibes. I'm trying to. On the way here, like we we love music.

50 That's the thing with us. We love music, all sorts of music exactly the way it should be, not just I. Don't even mean you play rocks, Robert, I'm in the song. That's the way it should be. Country, country, the Beatles, all of it. Man, that's the way it should be. I have a trivia question for you now, since your Beatles fans, If you get it wrong, you're fucking embarrassing. Okay, we're not gonna get it wrong. Okay, who is Well? First of all, who in your band plays bass? Oh? Okay, so we're gonna put him on the spot. I'm okay, who's the most famous bass player ever that didn't play bass?

40 He had to because they already had guitarists. I'm not giving you any fucking hints. Well, I mean, well, we'll probably say Paul McCartney but he was already get he was already a guitar. He was a guitarist. He moved, he moved the bass because through the short fucking strap. When stre moved, he went to go study back on Hamburg and he went and just bought the Hoffner. And what a mad thing. About is he just bought the Hoffner because it was reversible because he's left handed, yes, right, and he and it was cheap. It's only now because he made it, like because it's Paul McCartney's bass. Yeah, it's like well like expensive and famous. But when he bought it was like buying like an Encore or something. He just bought it out of a shop and just reversed it and played it.

34 But Mark is the man. Man, he's a fucking top boy dude. Like you had to tell album. He's got like all sorts going on. He's like working with Josh Army and Josh Army's doing covers of him in all sorts of ship. Until I knew that fact that he was originally a guitar player. Then I started listening. I started listening and like, oh yeah, he plays the bass like a guitar. But it all comes down to James Jemison from the Motown and the Funk Brothers. Like Macca was a big fan of James Jemison, and it was all about, like, how does James Jemison get the base up in the mix. So when you get to like Paperback Writer and Rain, he's like Macca starts directing putting into the desk and he's all about boosting the mids, and then Mac is and then he moves on to the rickey and then you get that. That's when you get the proper macat base lines instead of being like fifths and sevenths and octaves in that he starts doing that melodic ship. So by the time you hit Habby Roads, it's just like something like something or like she's so heavy and it's just like lead base.

42 It's amazing, the best shit, the best in the world. We have the new part a member of the band over here. I gotta tell you, I have a mad respect for you now, not only where you're fucking funny, but you're actually know your ship. The Beatles, led Zeppelin or anything. Okay, here's another trivia question. If you google led Zeppelin, what genre does Google say it is? I know, I don't know, probably blues blues from us. But thank you for playing metal metal. It's literally says heavy metal.

24 They weren't a heavy metal, but. They weren't buttons. They weren't bad metal. But think of communication breakdown. That's kind of a metal song. Like you go to like the Birmingham bands. You look at the move and the movie doing stuff like Brontosaurus and all that, and that was heavy as ship, right, that's like what nineteen sixty seven, ninety sixty eight and you've got all that and feel too that no fucking it's all like proto metal. And then the Beatles were kind of dropping stuff. In his helter skelter. That's a metal song, so heavy. And how about Mountain? About Mountain, I think cream, I think cream could be bad metals.

17 There's some, there's some we love is so good. So I have some information for you since you brought up Cactus and Vanilla Fudge. I've interviewed Carmine a few times. But Carmine during one interview, my interview went like viral. Rolling Stone picked it up everything because he said in the interview, I don't think Black Sabbath was the first metal band. It probably would, but he said I think Metallica is so the internet went fucking that ship crazy over that.

57 You know, imagine how many bands a weare back then that didn't make it heavy about. Iron Butterfly, Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, Like even Slayer did a cover of in Ada Vita. I remember people nowadays are looking back in hindsight and it's almost like through a filter where a lot of these bands are kind of filling out, and there's. A lot of those bands that like, like Budgie Well they. Were Welsh Budgie Well that Metallica's original music was Budgie and Diamond Head going on. It's all like all so many bands. It's like you go down the Spotify rabbit hole and you find bands never at you've you've never heard of, and you're like, Jesus, that sounds like that, that sounds like that, And then you look at how many listens they've had and you go, it's only had like four thousand, and then you look up on Wikipedia.

47 And they only sold like ten records. Right, They're doing stuff that like bands nowadays like lad your Ice. Is an American band called what. They call Step Them Off, and they know or they knew were. All their old seventies band. We only listen to old bands. I just had it then I can't remember. Sorry, we'll do the Jeopardy music dude. So Lord Baltimore you heard them? Who? So, Lord Baltimore the American seventies, American bands like pre sort of heavy metal early seventies. They only done one record and it was fucking amazing, same as.

32 Dust. You heard the first that. One from the Ramones. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's heavy metal, like heavy. I swear to God once a week Frank sends me a link to a band nobody has ever heard before I get into it and then like it might just be like a random like Toto record, or it might be yeah, yeah, one song, or it might be just like a bunch of bands that nobody's ever heard of. They only released one record in the smallest. Town you've ever see. I love that though, because we're fans. Man, there's so many bands. Rainbow and there's a lot, and they're standing on. Exactly no one's heard of.

15 You could even argue that maybe some of Elvis is metal, you know, jailhouse rock could possibly be considered metal, you know, going down. Like there's elements of everything, everything builds on top and builds on tarp and builds on top. And all we're doing. But it's different, but it's slightly different. Yeah. Thing you've got that kind of putting your own spin on it. Yeah yeah, attitude and all that sort of stuff. It's slapped on top and stuff ever before. Punk rock in it or whatever or a bit more attitudes. Yeah, And it all started here in my opinion, because I remember being a teenager and I'm like, I need to go to you because that's where the real music is.

02 Yeah, but we look the other way. That's what I'm saying. Everything comes from America. Like it's like that though, right growing up in the nineties, everything was kind of base, yeah, boring, and and you would look at like empty and grunge in like America and all the and you were just looking at it and go. It was almost like it didn't exist. It was like Hollywood. It was like both if it was like fake, it couldn't be real. And then you start playing the guitar and then suddenly it's like you start meeting. When it came out. Yeah yeah, and like you're going. To several pilots and all of that, and it becomes like multi color that comes from America. But then we have the interchanging band members for the interview to keep coming in, and then.

47 Alison changed to me a little longer to get into that was a bit older, let's sophisticated. I was a teenager in the eighties. I grew up in New Jersey. And then my dad comes up to me and goes, pack your bags moving California in three days. I was fucking pissed. But we wouldn't be seeing it. Right here day because I used to be I used to be thirteen years old walking with Motley Crew over to that Rainbow, rang out with Lemmy. Yeah, you know, like there's ship that goes on. I caved talked about thank god there wasn't social media, but I mean it was like it was serious show. I was at Metallica's first show, Slayers first show, you know. Yeah.

27 I went over there in about two thousand and two with our manager without the band to get some try some sort of deal. And I was over there for two weeks. Hanging out of inn La, going to the Rainbow, and then we went back and we played the Whiskey and we played the Troubadoor. I used to go to Troubadoor every week, every week fucking amazing. Like we only done a few gigs in La and we were there for a few weeks at a time. But and it's not evenna like it these. Crazy fucking parties like rooftop pool parties, and like we played the Troubadoor with Buck Cherry and the Murder Dolls. Like oh my god, with our other. Band, Ragious speed On. And then we've done the Whiskey.

07 That was crazy stuff, and like that wasn't even the craziest time because no, it's a mellow compared to what it was in the Anas when I was there, there was still much. Coming back. We have noticed coming back that like like how like we were kind of brought into the fold like twenty years ago, it was still kind of a little bit old school. And now when we bowl up and start you know, heavy what would be classified as heavy drinking or whatever, and just a little bit of bad behavior, a little bit of personality per se. Now it's kind of looked at like WHOA, what's going on there? And it's a little bit like, oh, you don't really know where to put your feet. Like even now it's like you say, a couple of words. Yeah, like you're getting looks in that, and it's like you shut your mouth.

55 Listen. After Ozzie snorted ants he'd get canceled today for that. Yeah, well yeah, I mean as it's like the blueprint of what we're about. But then that kind of bites you in the ass at the same time, no doubt, I have people say that they have an opinion. I have people say we don't have an opinion. Can you bring me backstage? I'm like, it ain't the eighties, it's fucking boring. When we played Damnation a few there were people a few years ago, the people reading books and eating fruit. I set him on fire. We we got canceled because we set him on fire, and like I lost the back of my hair from a fucking flame thrower. Set me on set my guitar and then.

39 Having a piss and next thing there was a fire extinguishing that. It went Mento, and. Then we had a food fight with all the food in the backstage area. We kicked off, went Mento at the fire seems a squared all over Frank and then that was the end of that thing. Then they set fire to the back and. Then we were back killed by about eight pm. You guys were born in the wrong decade. This video was metically acceptable. Like when I saw Martley cru the first time, they weren't they were horror punk. Then they were like like murder dolls and they were setting the whole roxy on fire to bring Satan in. Oh, we got told we got a banned from a festival in Oxford for set fires.

21 Oh yeah, yeah, Oxford, we got banned because. So even a headliner in the first night, headliner first night, I don't even remember what happened, but I'll tell you my account of it, right, honest to god. Right, he Frank set As on fire. But I was looking at the audience, so I didn't know what was going on, and the house lights just came up, and I'm like, whoa, what's going on? What's going on? And this guy come running towards the stage and he starts going to me, you guys are out of order. What's going on? We're showing in the video of As being set on. Firestage there, I'm like a suntman from like you look like he looked like, oh my god.

12 Oh my god. It was so funny. Ship if it were too down to playing six and Sid just came out there would be no sex perst. So we set him on fire on stage right, and the house lights came up and we were like, what's going on. I turned around and I was like, oh, there's some fire. I don't know what's going on. And some guy ran towards the stage and he got he looked really I thought he was a punter. And he goes there's fire on the stage and he goes and somebody put a bag of ice on the am, but the problem was it wasn't a bag of ice. He ordered some plectrums, as had order some practice off the internet, and Gordon the drummer, just pissed in the bag, said it was pissed everywhere. And I said to him him, naw, that's not a bag of ice, mate, that's piss. And he got dead angry, and I thought, oh god, he looks dead angry.

08 I'm out of here. So I jumped off and then I heard he turned out to be the owner of the whole venue. Right. I heard him going, that's a bag of piss, and then I heard as go, ah, me man, I'm not going to say the words he used, but it was bad. And then twenty minutes later, all these people turned up and tried to physically assault us, and Frank went, you might kill us, but I swear to God I'll kill one of yours. And that allowed us to get out. That allowed us that pocket to get out safely. And that was the end of Oxford.

48 No more for you. No. Yeah, all these stories, how the fuck did he get the blood stuck? Oh know, we were like, yeah, so we're going on tour in November and December, so we probably have a lot more stories from them. So, yeah, you are true musicians from my time. We try and keep the fucking rock and roll alive. Brother. That's about it, man. The Master's up to a living. The lets Pauls, the hagstrums and that's it. Man. People. Yeah, the what they want, I don't know they want it, but we give it all. The fucking riffs. Well, you guys are fucking awesome.

29 Thanks for being here at Bloodstot. Thanks for being on the Adventure of worries Man anytime. Brother, take care. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of fight Man. I'm w for c UI Radio.
