0:05 Hey, you're listening to Adventure on W4CY Radio. This is the Pipe Man here on the Adventure's Pipe Man W4CY Radio and I'm here with. Marcos and Zach from POD. What's up? What's up? Here at Aftershock, man. Exactly, man. What are we doing here? Oh my god, like I feel like there's a big resurgence of good music coming back. Bands like you guys. Holy shit, what the hell was that? Bands like you guys and a lot of bands playing here. I was talking to people and the younger generation wants real fucking music.

0:57 Sometimes. Sometimes. The younger, younger. Yeah. Not the young. It depends on what generation we're talking about. Yeah. Sometimes some people want McDonald's. And sometimes people want, like, Martin's Steakhouse. Or Cracker Barrel. Or Cracker Barrel. See, I like Cracker Barrel. I like Cracker Barrel, too. The hash brown. Casserole and their apple butter and biscuits is the best. I love the store, personally. Oh, the store. Oh, my God. Who buys their product? Come on down. Oh, we got Trey. Trey's in it now. What up, what up, what up? What up? What's up? Are you doing the Pipe Man? Yeah, yeah, you remember me, right? I had blue hair last time we talked. Back in the day, right? I got to change it up, you know? Keep you guessing.

1:39 That's Trey Daniels, bass player for P.O. Date. Shut up, you know it. So, out of all the women festivals, which one is your favorite to play? On the West Coast, Aftershock. On the East, somewhat East Coast, I would say Louder Than Life. Nice. I was just there a couple weeks ago. You guys were too. We were busy, dude. I like incarceration too, though. You know what I like about incarceration? My youngest daughter, she'll call me up before a festival and she'll be like, So, Dad, are you excited about this festival? I'm like, well, I'm doing it every week, so I don't know if excited is a word. I love doing it. It's great. Don't take it for granted, Piedman.

2:19 Oh, I don't. All right. But I do love it. But when I got to Shawshank prison and I called her up and said, now I'm excited. I'm calling you from the prison yard of Shawshank. That's awesome. That was cool. The first time we played it, I had to get a Ohio penitentiary t-shirt from there. And I was so stoked. I still have it. I'm surprised I didn't catch a case because did you see when you go in the tour there, there's one place where you can look out the window and it says if you take a picture, you're getting a felony. Hell yeah. Well, listen, man. It's crazy that when I've done it a few times, you have the show going on on one side, but people don't realize that there's an actual real prison on the other side of the fence.

3:05 And I've seen the inmates out there. Oh, my gosh, dude, we're doing a festival here. It's like you're Johnny Cash. It's pretty crazy. It's like you're Johnny Cash. You've got to appreciate that, though, right? No doubt. Of course. Being locked up and you get a bunch. Of bands coming through and you got some live music. You don't got to listen to your dude snoring or taking a deuce. Exactly, man. They got to love it, right? Of course they do. They're rumbling. They're hearing the vibes and getting the vibrations of the music for sure. No doubt. I wonder if they start mosh pits in the prison. I would. It's too close to a riot, though. Yeah, exactly. I would, but it would get shut down real quick. But I want.

3:46 To see them out in the yard. Cash performance in prison is amazing. Right. I've actually sat back and listened to that whole thing. It was awesome. It is. And like you think about though, the inmates, their life is shit. So if they can get some live music, live music is the best therapy there is. You know what I love about Johnny Cash and then Elvis Presley? They were God fearing mofos. Yeah. They weren't perfect. They had all the ladies they wanted. But the one image that I get from Johnny Cash, that one iconic image of him flipping off the camera, that goes to show you, like, listen, man, I have faith, but I still kick ass.

4:28 Exactly. And that's what P.O.D. Does. That describes you to a T, I think. And, you know, because people get too caught up in religion, and I'm like, bro, that's a personal faith thing. It keeps me alive. It keeps me going. But don't. Don't fuck with me. What the fuck was that? Best words ever. He can't even follow that up. I was just like, you know what? You can't follow that up, man. I have a solution to all the world's problems. You want to hear it? A joint? Well, that too. I had that in my pocket because I had just wrapped up all my shit and I was going out to go to Public Emmy and smoke a joint, but I stopped for you guys.

5:15 We're going to catch you at Public Emmy. Yeah, I'm going right after this. We're missing 36 right now because we've got to talk to Pipe Man. Exactly. They love Pipe Man, dude. I heard we've been trying to do this for a minute. We have, we have. We've done it before, but lately you guys have been fucking so busy, which is great. Well, we're going to do it again and give you a little more time, but today we all have a mission. To go see Public Enemy. And party. So you need to buy us both shots of whiskey. All right, we could go... Consider we have a. Buy us the shots that are free, please. We have the free open bar. You can have all the whiskey you want. Let's... No, but... We're going to have.

5:56 Yeah. You're going to. You bought me that. You little sucker. I mean, I tipped her, dude. Yeah. I got to take care of my girl. What I love about this guy who's playing drums, Zachary Christopher. Look at. He's. From Vegas, but that dangling earring on the left. That's some George Michael shit. I love it. That's what makes the drumming so sick. He goes on these rolls in that dangling earring. I can't catch my cymbal properly. I was going. To say that the earring hits the cymbal. That's kind of hard, dude. It's kind of sick. It's kind of hard. Speaking of kind of hard, we just got out of the studio with our boy Will Yip, dude.

6:43 We're wrapping up the next album coming out next year. Nice. We just put out a new song, Outbreak. I don't know if you got to check it out at all. I did. I did. With Corey, Brendan from Norma Jean. Yeah, yeah. Turn that up to 11, homie. I love all these collabs. It's not a collab. It's a feature. Yeah. Well, there you go. But it's badass. I love seeing artists work together. Yeah, dude. You know? That's the way it should be. It makes the world go round, man. So I have a question for you. You go. And your listeners probably know this, but I don't. How did you get the name Pipe Man? Okay, so it's so funny because I never ask bands how they got their name because it's the stupidest question ever.

7:26 But wait, wait, wait. Every band asks me that. I have bands that they think they know and they write a song right in the interview to do it. But my last name's Piper. It's as simple as that. Oh, okay. Piper? Like Zeppelin's the Piper? I'm like the Pied Piper. Everybody follows me. Oh, see? I knew it. But I have something I want to show you, and let's see if you can find a band on here you would want to play with that you haven't yet. This is my 80s battle vest. Wow, dude. What's wrong with this patch right here, man? It's been through a few wars.

8:07 Did that go to Thailand or what? It went into like pits. I'm just messing with you. No, it went into POD pits. Oh, man. Blood over here from a stage dove off a 20-foot martial stat. Listen, man. We came this close back in the day to doing some dates with Metallica. It never happened. That would be a cool, fun thing to do. That would be cool to do. Let's go to the back. Oh, yeah. Slayer. They didn't even have a patch back then, so I had this. And in LA, they all thought I was crazy. Aw, CJ, my brother. What's up, man? Love you, my brother. Hey, dude. CJ. Hey, hey. How y'all doing?

8:48 I just picked up from the airport. You have some competition because he's like the best interview ever. CJ, I don't want to. No, but he's got cool titty piercings. Sorry about that. Sorry about that, CJ. It's all good, man. CJ's cool. I love CJ. Hey, you remember in Europe when CJ wrote that song on the spot? He's like, man, I was jamming out, and I wrote this song. Hey, what happened to that song, CJ? You were writing in our dressing room on the Godsmack Tour. Oh, it's still on my phone. Oh, I see. We got on stage together on Godsmack Tour, and I'm like, bro, I got this riff. I was inspired by P.O.D., bro. I was on stage going up. No, but he also DJs. I DJ. He says he DJs. I haven't seen him yet. See? Oh, that's cool. CJ Alien is my DJ name. See?

9:30 And tell him... Tell him what you learned in our interview today. You know Piedman here? Yeah, I love Piedman. So, William Shatner has a metal record coming out at 95 years old. I heard about that. And it's so freaking great. We did it. Don't act like you don't know who I. Am, girl. Shit. Hey, what's up, baby cakes? How are you doing, Papi Chula? Always good to see you. You too. Welcome to the craziest interview. See, this is great shit, though. But did you see he lost? his show at Riot Fest a couple weeks ago a metal band and His band is called The Fuckers. I thought that was a joke. No, it was real. He has a metal band.

10:11 Yeah, it's real. I've got to hear it. Listen, you've got to watch the video. How old is he? 95. How is he doing a metal record at that age? He didn't even know metal. The name of his record is called What the F is Heavy Metal. Is it out? I don't know. No, I think it's coming out next month. But. That's what I'm talking about. He's playing at Coachella. Freaking fucking show, let's go. He's playing at fucking Coachella. But I watched the video. You're going to laugh, okay? So he's got the band playing. They're pretty good. And somebody, like, singing, but background singing. And then he comes in, like, they do a cover of Metallica. He's like... And there they go. Off to Never Neverland. Like, just like he speaks.

10:59 Those are his lyrics? That's how he sings, just like he talks. Like, it's pretty funny. Cinematic. Well, I remember he was doing Priceline for a minute. Priceline.com. I remember that. Dude, that was years ago, right? 20 years ago or something. Probably he was 70 back. Then, probably. Yeah, he was a young buck. 90. 95 starting. Well, you know who's still kicking up there with him? Who? Clint Eastwood. That's true, too. Clint Eastwood is a true G. I love all his Western movies, man. Oh, he was the man. He was the man. He is the man. There ain't going to be another Clint Eastwood, bro. No. 100%. There ain't going to be another P.O.D. either.

11:39 You're right about that. Because you guys are fucking awesome. Thank you. Thank you, man. And I think Public Emmy's waiting for you. Let's go. Let's do it. Hey, let's do it again sometime soon. Thank you for having us. We love you. Pipe, man. And I love that you're Pipe Man because your name is Piper. There it is. That's awesome. Peter paid the Piper, Mr. Pipe Man. How you doing? There it is. How you doing? How you doing? Hey, public enemy awaits. Break out now. Go check it out. All streaming platforms, YouTube, payableondeath.com. Let's go, baby. There it is. Thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man. Thank you for listening to The Adventures of Pikeman on W4CY Radio.
