04 Hi, you have done to censure? Wow for you. Young, It is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio, and I'm here with c J and Ryan from drawing a Pool Nice here at Welcome to Rockville where Welcome to humidity? I'm not sure what's yeah.

45 Welcome to the heat wave. I like it, though I don't want it. What's it like on stage with this humidity? Forget the heat? The humidity though? Seen? What was the old school? When Will Ferrell's up on stage and he just saw all of a sudden, she just rattling off that stuff and he's like, you know what happened? I don't know, man, have black out. That's how you debate, right, kind like that, you kind of you go up on stage, you start to have a really good time, and then all of a sudden it's over and you're just like, what happened? Usually right before I go into Bodies That Went Out, you start seeing the stars and like, I'm gonna make it through the song. But we'll always make it through. Yeah. It's like when you go up on stage, you go into the zone and even if you're sick or whatever, it's like you don't even give your permit self permission to feel that till after you get it. Does a matter of how you do. We have this one week when we came through Florida.

26 At that time, I had the bad fish and have food poisoning for like a week. And I mean just every night, the second you get on stage and you hit that first corners, just say do you just you know. As a public service announcement for anybody out that ever finds himself questioning whether they should do this or not, don't eat to the tilapia Denny's, don't ever do it. No, Denny's telapia fish. It's Alabama. Denny's tilapia have bit me hard. Maybe it's Alabama. Then I could have been Alabama. I'm sure it was fresh I thought it would be. It's close to the ocean. Right yeah. Well the golf, yeah I live on this side of Florida. Okay, the golf. We don't consider the ocean right like people say that. No, it's the golf.

15 It's the golf, baby, It's connected. It's just the golf now. The golf. However, the golf, however, I'm so used to like Fort Myers area where you can walk out like two miles and there's no waves and nothing but my daughter. She lives in the Panhandle right by the golf and those waves there are way bigger than my waves in West Palm Beach. Oh really, I didn't know that, man. I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to move when I retired to Florida, like everybody else does. Well, if you go to if you do come to Florida, if you go to Panhandle, we consider that South Alabama. Okay, well, yeah, tell me a good spot. If you see a while here walking around ten years from now and think it from dronafol, it is me.

56 What what does drowning pool want for a spot to retire to Florida? I'm there already. Nice. Where's that England? I don't like the sun, I don't like I don't like water, so I'm not I'm in the middle. I know, why are you living on an island? But still no, I right in the middle. Stay away from the waters, stay away from the sun. Small children's laughter, puppy dogs. I like puppy dogs. Don't even get all my shit. You like the puppy dogs, now, man, I don't you don't I definitely. You know, I'm family and friends all here and you live in Dallas, Texas. But you know, we've been to Australia a few times and it sounded nice here. I like. I like Ryan Macombs, I like the beach, any one weather and puppy dogs.

36 So do I. But and I like the UK. But yeah, I like the UK, but that bipolar weather. Like I love the UK and the people there, but the bipolar weather I can't deal with. Like when I do download, it's like one interview, I'm wearing my hoodie, the next one I'm like taking my shirt off because it's so hot, and then it's freezing again. See the last couple of years though, with our schedule, I haven't been home. Ah, there you go. So all I experience is the rain and the gray and the so it's perfect for me. I love it. Yeah. See that shows different people. That's why you have different climates, because there. Are people that live in Washington State. Yeah. Yeah, somebody said something to me like I wouldn't want to live there where it's raining all the time. I mean it's raining in Florida all the time, but it lasts for like, you know, fifteen minutes destroys the whole place, and then it's like it never happened that.

28 Sure, yeah we did when the records here years ago with Jason Sukoff, and it just afternoon showers with just a regular event. Oh yeah, it's alarm clock three four o'clock. You can bet on it, right, you bet on it. That's nap time exactly. You know how I know we're just talking about this. So I'll be saying in my house with the doors open and stuff and shit will start flying off the wall, like, oh, the storm's coming. And if the wind comes first, it's just like. Right, I'll let you says right, such a messed up experiences like so commonplaces. Oh yeah, here comes a storm. She's flying off the wall, Here comes a storm.

08 I'm pulling out my surfboard. When they say we're gonna have a hurricane in a few days, man, that is when we surf because it's the only time we have a swell down there. Really. Yeah, So otherwise no ocean can be like a lake because the Bahamas blocks it. But then when there's a hurricane, we have like ten twelve foot waves. I would I would I think I would be really into surfing if I like the water in the sun. Yeah, that's kind of a component. The closest I've ever come to is I saw one. I thought you were going to say, you saw a sun. If I can help it, I've seen enough of it.

49 Has it been like that for you your whole life? Actually? No, When I was a kid, I liked you know, I lived in the swimming pool as a kid and everything. But now I don't get in the water. I take it, take a shower every day, and that's with all the water I need. I'm good. Do you have like some trauma? Did you drown in the pool? In the pool, we are impervious to water every day, right, So tell me too. Like you did this collab song in February and I was listening to him like that's pretty bad ass. So yeah, yeah, man, sorry, X is awesome. Man. They had a label Shan to turn us on to the girl she was singing. She did like her rendition of bodies and stuff and it was killer. And they working on this tune and you know, got to Ryan and I and it was fun to do.

35 Man. It came together. Another thing that came together real fast, Like when we did the stuff at OFFSET. It just it just fell on table. It just made the sense. It was a fun song to play along too, especially with the solo for me, and I love it how it came out. Man, Yeah, well I think she It was easy, yes, because I mean she's a really talented new artist that. If you're not familiar with it, check out sorry X. Yeah, she's a she's a. Very she is. I didn't know about till you did the collab, and I'm like, she has. A lot of different styles, like you know, she you know, she obviously got heavy voice. She has a great singing voice, and she has like you know, like the modern day wouldn't say, you know, new metal rap style back in the day, but the new way of delivery. So she does a good the mix of all of them within that song itself. So it's super talented. That's why we you know, joined forces.

21 See. I love collabs because to me, it I kind of think like the artist gets to experiment a little because like when you have your own band, you kind of sometimes have to stay in a certain lane, so you can collab with others and it allows you to go out of that lane without people saying anything. The gatekeeper people. Yeah, man, that's been fun. And like you said, just we bound side is off each other and a song kind of changed more with a few different times until it came out to what it is. But again a lot of fun. You know, hopefully we can jam out with it at some point somewhere. But you know, we're staying busy, like everybody. Ryan's staying extremely busy. I've been here. See, I've been in Flora for just a few hours now, and I'm already getting the effect.

04 It's already happening. It's what is that? It's that because my skin I got a lurch reaction to the sun. My skin. Everybody always makes some because I'm always wearing long sleeves and stuff out here. But this is what happens to me, is that painful little pain. That's why you like it in the day. So how's that? Also? Like, what's it like having to perform in this crap? Then? I just it's it doesn't matter. I mean, when you're that's the that's the payoff for you put up with this crap, payoff of being up. There with the people that allow us to do what we do. You know, the crowd comes out, that's the payoff. So I mean, it doesn't matter what's going on, skin burning wise, it's it's all worthwhile when it comes to that.

47 So you're here at Welcome to Rockville. You're gonna be doing Aftershock this year. You've pretty much done every DWP festival right multiple times. Yeah, which one's your favorite? I have a soft spot for this one because well, we were here two years ago and it was it was sick. I mean, I think at one point there was three different pits going on, just dust flying everywhere, and it was it was it was definitely every show is memorable for one reason or another, and but that one was definitely memorable. For just the bad assy that took place during the show. I love that. And since you brought up the dust, yah, because I often wonder about ours. I was wondering this morning as I was trying to get all the fucking dust out of my nose from yesterday, and I'm like, I don't get how like singers are able to go from one festival another and be able to still sing.

47 I'm already losing my voice just speaking. Where do We just played Infernto Fest that was in. Outside of Reno, and it was a dust storm and dude, it took me a week just I'm even That's. Why I'm saying, how you go on tour after that? Like I do all these festivals, but all I have to do is talk, But by time, like the end of the first festival, I can't talk anymore pretty much, and I can't breathe at all. You just swallow a box and nails. It just kind of gets all the sand down. Yeah, there you go. I'm going to try that box. I'll try that tonight after I get I'll try that after I get out of your pit. Have you tried nails? Staples? Try staples? Oh? Man? So what else you got coming up here in twenty twenty six?

29 Man, we have a bunch of shows overseas coming up in June. All we do, yeah, we we go over We start that runoff with download in England. Oh we'll have to talk there too. I'll be there too. Nice, nice, nice, and uh we start there, we do some we we hit that, we do grass pop over in it's Belgium. Yeah yeah, yeah, that's a cool place. Like the crowd is a trip because they speak like three different languages right there and then there they have a language called Flemish, just for that area where grass pop is. It's not for all Beltree, just that area. So here, here's what's funny is so I was watching this you know the song speak English or Die by s O d oh. Yeah, okay, so it was being performed, but it was instead done Simish.

25 It's and it would speak Flemish or die all right, and they did that and the whole crowd just freaking ate it up. That's awesome. But yeah, so and there's a couple of other festivals over there that I'm sorry but the names aren't coming right. Then we're just doing a bunch of shows in between those to get from one to the other. Of some shows with snot and uh spine shank nice to get from one point A to point B. We do that for a couple of weeks and then we have a bunch of different Yeah, then military stuff and then. Tell me about the military stuff. My sons in the military almost twenty years. Yeah, we do two or three tours a year. We do stuff with right now, Enforced Entertainment a f and yeah, we got we go all over the world because of that different basis you have, like just be we were just in we did like Poland two years ago.

16 We just did Norway earlier this year. We'll go the way off bases where it's nice, training his way out there and just bring a piece of home. To him, you know what I mean. I love that. Yeah. We were in Norway. Uh this past winter. It was I've never seen so much in my life. Man, never hold plunged for survival, the survival training. Oh that's frozen forever, I guess since time started. And they jump in it with full gear and you have to climb out. Have you ever had to do that, Derek? Have you ever had to do that jump in a cold? Yeah? Yeah, right, he's been in a place that gets up to like one hundred and thirty degrees.

58 Yeah. We were in Iraq and Kuwait several times and dude, it was Yeah, it was one hundred and twenty five one of the days how we played two thousand and six? Yeah, how do you even play in one hundred and twenty five degree? Let I tell you, I remember sitting there one time and a bunch of soldiers came up and I'm talking to him and all, and I'm sitting there in shorts and cut off sleeve T shirt and everything because I didn't have this problem back then, and uh, I'm sitting complaining about the heat. And then I just stopped because I realized that the men and women I'm talking to is in full gear with like thirty pounds packs on, and so if I was like, you know what, I'm. Just gonna shut up right now. That sure is hot out here in it. Yeah, it's so hot. Never mind, never mind, I'm sorry.

40 I take that back right. Yeah, it was wild. I was drinking just kept veenis water water. I realized that three days in my buy it, I never took one piss. I was like, wow, you just absorb it. Man, It's like you can't get enough of it. I'm like, man, I haven't taken a piss in three days. Just fucking drink so much water, but. You just sweating it out man. Yeah. Yeah, I was drinking nothing but water until I walked off stage one time and this soldier gave me a PEPSI can and it was like, you want to drink? I was like, yeah, I was, because you're singing in the desert there, so tell me about dry Yeah, And uh, I grabbed that can and took a swig off of it just find out that it was Moonshine. Yeah, blew the top of my head off. Yeah, gas leaning basically.

21 Wow, we have had a few of them. Yeah, we do those. We do the military shows. We get an opportunity to do that again, which is always a blessing, and then uh, and then come back to state side and do a bunch of stuff and saliva. Yeah. And I've been fully announced yet, but it's gonna announced I think in next week or two. Wait, you know, I'm just said it. Yeah, you just said. Okay, anybody that's listening, keep it to yourself because this is not public. Yeah. Start in August and September. We were filling up dates right now that hasn't gone public, but up it's twenty five anniversary for them on their record for us with the Center record, so we're. Gonna be playing that in its entirety. I had some I got some songs to learn. We got a couple more songs on there. But that's all right, man. We want to get to him.

02 I think he's gonna do great as one of us. Yeah, well, keep the moonshine away or maybe have more moonshine one way or the other. It's it's gonna work. Yeah, with myself. Was like the songs that I sing, I figured I wrote the lyrics when I was drunk. I record the lyrics when I was drunk. You gotta say when you're when you're performing. But with like like the Drowning Pool stuff that I didn't write, I don't know what the answer to that is. They're just core light and the Yegger is what they used to drink. There you go Corse light and a Yegger and you get to go. Man, that's how that recovers, right, So you're gonna have to switch the Corse light. Then. Good thing we brought some.

44 Is that called like a Yeager light bomb. I don't know, man. That was again that was Dave William's favorite drink. I mean, I'm kind of much pretty much on the vodka down, you know, say, with the clears, because it's better for you to be your system. Yeah. Or it looks like water and think people think you're just drinking water. Could be water, could be vaka. Who knows the time. Yeah, you know I'm wasting when I start talking cajun. My girl, You've done it in a couple of interviews. Actually, I like it. Yeah, I'm still having hit their drink yet. I'm just I've also had the honor of having him where I don't even think he knows he was even at the interview. We've done something.

24 Yeah, so wow, man, I guess it. You know, you never know what's gonna get for a show. This is the first earlier show, so I'm not drink until later. I think this is the first time we've talked before the show. Yeah, this first time you're sober during one of our interviews. First time, first time for everything. Jesus, Like, what's wrong? Wing for you? Are? This is boring life? Is this what the bird is? Like? Oh my god? People live like this. The best thing about it is is I probably won't have to contact us. There's been a couple of times with those type of interviews. It's after show alcohol in fuel interviews that I've had to contact the person after me, like can you cut this part out? When I start getting political? Can you cut that crap out? It's talking yeah, the and.

04 I'm on that's everything. And and I'm automatically somebody that would cut it out because I know, because I know you. I'm like, yeah, they wouldn't want that in any. Interview with Today's cancel Culture. I know, right, I even wonder. I wonder when I say stuff. But let's get you to your next interview always and I'll see you download. You see a download, brother, and we can catch it from there. You need to get a like a comic book though, a pipe man. Wait a minute, I do. If you look at my logo, it's a comic like when my hair was blue. That's that's my logo. Comic logo, all right, And I just had it felt like it was Yeah, I felt it was there. There it is, see And I'm like, pipe Man is kind of patterned after Dark Night because bat Batman is one of the most badass superheroes. I think Batman and Arrow because neither one of them have any superpowers or not matty humans or not. I guess they're just regular dudes that went through some major freaking trauma and used it positively. There. It is just like drowning people.

23 Every day is a battle. It's like every every merch person I've ever known, they've just gone through some major trauma. Now they just tour with bands and choose to live this life. Right. Yeah, what does that make you, guys? Because you choose it too. Oh man, we get the payoff. Yeah. There you have time with the crowd. That's it. That's what counts. And that's what's great about you guys, because you're here too for the crowd, not for anything else, you know, for the music, for the therapy, for the crowd, for the fun, for an escape. And that makes drowning in the. Crowd watching all the other bands too. Man, there go out and watch everybody. I still get in a pin. I know it probably shouldn't. That's the way it should be.

03 It'd be on stages this guy too, so it works. There you go. We need weeks, we need like we need like a bro hug for that. But we're not on video, so everybody just can't think that. Just fat hearts came up. That's there. It is. Stars. Well, thanks man, thanks a lot. I have a good one and kick some masks here at Welcome to Rockville. Yeah, man, I'm ready. I have my water. I'm gonna go get a drink now. There you go. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man on w for c u I Radio.
