Speaker AHere's your host, multi award winning hall of fame podcaster Dave Jackson.
Speaker AHey, welcome to the podcast hot seat.
Speaker AToday, as I said, Married into Crazy with Snooks and Lovey.
Speaker AHere's their description from our good friends at Apple Podcasts, Married Coaching for love, laughter and overcoming adversity.
Speaker AWe met on a blind date and when we got engaged four months later, my heart was pierced not by Cupid's arrow, but by a serrated steak knife.
Speaker AAnd that's when our journey began.
Speaker AThat's when we realized we both married into crazy.
Speaker AWe're just real folks sharing talk about love and life while occasionally tackling a few taboos, stereotypes and misconceptions confronting the institution of marriage and relationships at large.
Speaker AThough we can't speak for everyone, we can offer our unique perspective.
Speaker AIf you've ever wanted to be a fly on the wall and listen to another married couple's random conversations, stick around and get your ear hustle on with a couple that truly married into crazy.
Speaker ATheir website married into crazy.com.
Speaker Ahere is my conversation with Lovey, better known as Ernie from Married into Crazy.
Speaker AI'll call you Ernie.
Speaker AIs it weird if I call you Ernie?
Speaker ADo you really want me to call you Lovey?
Speaker AI mean, I can call whatever you want, buddy.
Speaker BYou know what, if you call me Ernie, Ernie I can cash the check.
Speaker BLovey I have a little difficulty with, but Lovey's more of a family name.
Speaker BMy wife's been calling me that for 29 years, so it's.
Speaker BI go by either.
Speaker BWhatever you feel comfortable with.
Speaker AGot it.
Speaker ALet's talk about the show.
Speaker AWhen did you decide to start the show and why?
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker AWhat's the motivation of it?
Speaker BWhen we first got married.
Speaker BActually, even before we got married, there's a story we ended up having some difficulties and we went through some challenges.
Speaker BI ended up getting stabbed through my heart and there was a lot that took place.
Speaker BAnd so we had drama before we got married, got married, had a period of four years where everything was working out, or so I thought.
Speaker BAnd then my wife asked for a divorce and then we had to figure it Out.
Speaker BAnd as we kind of got over the hump, we became this couple that a lot of people gravitated towards.
Speaker BAnd so we ended up becoming this couple that we ended up counseling people unofficially.
Speaker BAnd so we decided that we wanted to be that couple that we needed when we were going through things.
Speaker BAnd people said, I had a voice for radio, this, that, and the other.
Speaker BAnd I looked into doing some voice acting.
Speaker BAnd so we decided to do some podcasting, or at least I decided and kind of dragged her along in the process.
Speaker BAnd this was after we saw and met Dr.
Speaker BEric Thomas, and he did this whole talk about, you know, just find out what you love to do and just go for it.
Speaker BYou know, why not try it and then decide whether or not it's the thing for you.
Speaker BAnd we did that in 2018, and we've been podcasting every week since then, ever since.
Speaker AVery cool.
Speaker AThe nice thing about this is, you know who your.
Speaker AYour audience is.
Speaker APeople that are trying to keep their marriage together.
Speaker ASo that's not a hard question.
Speaker AWhat do you judge your success by?
Speaker BThat's a great question.
Speaker BPeople always ask.
Speaker BAnd it's hard.
Speaker BThere's not a true metric, if you will, because if you go to our website, we always talk about how we want to actually positively impact a million couples.
Speaker BThere's no way to really, truly measure that.
Speaker BBut we believe that whether you're listening to us or watching us, however you're exposed to married into crazy.
Speaker BIf we can get some feedback in the form of an email, any type of feedback whatsoever, whatever the form may be, that there was a positive nugget that you received, we believe that once you're actually getting that, then you become a beacon of light within your community.
Speaker BAnd so then it kind of cascades out.
Speaker BIt's almost like that ripple effect.
Speaker BYou drop a rock in the middle of a lake and then it ripples.
Speaker BWe believe that once something like that happens within a couple, then you have a tendency to share that with other couples, and then there's that cascading effect.
Speaker BSo there's no true metric other than people start to talk about you.
Speaker BThen you start.
Speaker BYour audience starts to grow a little bit more and more and more.
Speaker BAnd every now and then, something cool happens where someone says, hey, I listened to your podcast, that you didn't even know.
Speaker BThere was an incident where I was.
Speaker BEvery now and then, my wife and I decided, we're going to quit.
Speaker BWe just never quit at the same time.
Speaker BAnd right when I was about to quit one time, and I was really serious about it.
Speaker BWe got this random email from a lady in South Africa about how she found our podcast, and it made all the difference for her in working out some things with her husband.
Speaker BAnd actually we framed it into sitting over on the wall because it serves as a constant reminder that even when we don't know that we're making an impact, we just don't know.
Speaker BAnd because we find it quite therapeutic.
Speaker BHey, we just keep going.
Speaker AWell, I noticed on the website, people can schedule a call with you now.
Speaker AIs that something you're charging for?
Speaker ABecause it seems like a logical choice.
Speaker AI'm like, well, if we're going to do counseling, we might as well get paid for our time.
Speaker ABut when I kind of went halfway through the step, I was like, when do I pay you guys?
Speaker ASo how does that work?
Speaker BThat's right.
Speaker BSo what we do is we do a discovery call in the very beginning.
Speaker BSo the first call is anywhere from a 15 minute to 30 minute call that we consider just giving back.
Speaker BAnd it's just really finding out, okay, what's the challenge?
Speaker BWe introduce ourselves and we kind of fill each other out.
Speaker BWe explain our qualifications and see if it's a fit.
Speaker BAnd then from then, you can decide whether or not you want to schedule a coaching session with us and continue to move on from there.
Speaker BAnd there are different tiers through which you can actually work with us.
Speaker AGot it.
Speaker ANow, is that then the metric?
Speaker AI know that you want to help a million people, but is it a case where if you had, let's say, whatever, 200 downloads and no counseling calls, you would be depressed, but if you had 200 downloads and you had for clients.
Speaker AOkay, now we're.
Speaker BOkay, exactly.
Speaker BOkay, so it's to the point where we get.
Speaker BYeah, exactly.
Speaker BSo the podcast is us giving back to the community, and we do enjoy that.
Speaker BBut then we have actually had some clients.
Speaker BLike, we've had clients in Canada, over in Europe, across the United States, and it just pops up.
Speaker BAnd there was a period where we actually shut it down for a while because we had a tragedy take place within our family.
Speaker BAnd so we.
Speaker BAnd it's really odd.
Speaker BAnd you know this, that podcasting is a funny thing.
Speaker BYou can actually get a really nice sized audience, but you have to be there every single week, all the time.
Speaker BAnd when we shut down for three months, it was actually four months.
Speaker AYeah, that's a long time.
Speaker BIt was.
Speaker BWe're starting all over again.
Speaker BAnd that entire audience, it's like, it's even worse than the first time.
Speaker BBuilding the audience.
Speaker BIt seems like, it's a lot harder the second time around.
Speaker BBut we're rebuilding.
Speaker BBut that is the metric, really.
Speaker BIt's just getting people in.
Speaker BAnd so now we've opened it up again to where we're accepting clients again.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd something like that, when it's an unplanned just strategy, it's not.
Speaker AYou can go, hey, I've got this thing coming up, I'll see you in three weeks or something.
Speaker AYou can't really, because you.
Speaker AA lot of times stuff like that, you don't know when you're coming back.
Speaker ASo that's tricky.
Speaker ASo what we're gonna do is play some clips from the show.
Speaker AI found some cool things, really low hanging fruit with your website that I was like, oh, I bet he doesn't know that's going on.
Speaker AThat'll drive some more traffic to your website.
Speaker ABut the one thing I wanted to start off with is you have a clip.
Speaker AAnd a lot of people do this.
Speaker AThey will pull a clip from either the conversation or if it was an interview, you know, whatever it is.
Speaker AAnd the role of that clip is to make you want to hear more of the show.
Speaker AAnd so when I click play on this, we get one of those and I'm gonna hit stop and go.
Speaker ADoes that make you wanna hear more?
Speaker AAnd we'll see how this goes here.
Speaker AAnd hopefully you should be able to hear this.
Speaker BIt was a marriage retreat they did.
Speaker BIt was their first one.
Speaker BAnd so I went to go do marriage retreat in Sacramento and the message was, you know, cause most of these people have been married for a while.
Speaker BAnd I was like, yo, what y'all creating?
Speaker BLike I said, we were made in the image of God he created.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker ASo do you want to hear more?
Speaker BI think so.
Speaker BI guess it depends on the audience.
Speaker AYeah, it really does.
Speaker AThe thing is, sometimes a good hook leaves what's called a brain gap, where it's like, here he said, like, we know we're talking about creating.
Speaker AAnd if he had said something like, the one thing that will strengthen your marriage to get through hard times.
Speaker AAnd then you're like, oh, wait a minute, answer the question.
Speaker ALike, one of the things you guys do is like, you said, I got stabbed.
Speaker AEverybody's still kind of going, dave, can you ask him about getting stabbed?
Speaker ALike, how do you get stabbed?
Speaker ALike, oh, by the.
Speaker AYou remember?
Speaker ALike, everybody's been stabbed.
Speaker AIt's no big deal.
Speaker AYou're like, no, no.
Speaker AWe're all like, wait, he got stabbed in the heart.
Speaker ACan we go back and hear the end of that?
Speaker AStory.
Speaker ABecause you.
Speaker AYou told that story here towards the beginning of the show to kind of like, hey, we've been married for 29 years.
Speaker AWe had a rough time.
Speaker AI got stabbed.
Speaker AAnd there was a part of me that's like a.
Speaker AWe took a big old tangent.
Speaker ALike all of a sudden, we haven't really introduced the show yet.
Speaker AAnd you start with your.
Speaker AYour history, which I'm assuming that's why you do that, to kind of go, hey, here's our story.
Speaker ABut you.
Speaker AYou again, kind of go, yeah, and I got stabbed.
Speaker AAnd then.
Speaker AAnd then you just kind of pass over it, and there's a big chunk of my brain go, wait, time out.
Speaker AI gotta go.
Speaker ASo is there somewhere on your website that you have the stabbing story?
Speaker BA portion of it in the very beginning?
Speaker BYou'll see.
Speaker BIt's all in script.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BWhere it talks about how we began, it's kind of like our love origin, right?
Speaker BAnd it talks about how our hearts were pierced not by Cupid's arrow, but by my wife's ex boyfriend's serrated steak knife.
Speaker AAll right, but I mean, is that something you guys repeat every episode, or is it because it might be nice to have that full story and all of its gory details somewhere where you can say, hey, go back to episode two if you want to hear the details of me getting stabbed and, you know, surgery and all the other things about it.
Speaker AIs that available somewhere?
Speaker BThat's a great call.
Speaker BIt actually is episode two.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AThere you go.
Speaker ALook at me.
Speaker AExcellent.
Speaker BI was like, oh, Dave listens.
Speaker BBut yeah, no, we just had a conversation about that.
Speaker BI told my wife that because she doesn't want to go back and relive it every single time.
Speaker BI told her we need to bring that up every single time to a certain extent.
Speaker BNot the full story, but at least a snippet, and then reference it.
Speaker AWell, it's your street cred.
Speaker AYou know what I mean?
Speaker AIt's like, hey, we've been married 29 years, and when we're talking about married into crazy, I got stabbed.
Speaker AYou know, go ahead, try and top that.
Speaker AYou know what I mean?
Speaker AIt's like, so I get why it's there.
Speaker ALet's listen to the beginning of the show.
Speaker BWhether you've been married one or 20 plus years, at some point you realize you married into crazy.
Speaker BAnd that's what our show is all about.
Speaker BIf your marriage or relationship is compassionate, real, accountable, zealous and yielding, or just plain crazy, snooks and lovey offer love, laughter, and a dose of reality as they unpack this thing called marriage.
Speaker BSit back, relax, and get your ear hustle on.
Speaker BIt's time to start the conversation.
Speaker ASo I love that good intro.
Speaker ALets me know what it is.
Speaker AThe one thing I noticed, and it is, it's kind of a big deal.
Speaker ABut the good news is it's really easy to fix.
Speaker AAnd that is your show has serious volume issues where people come on and it's super loud.
Speaker AAnd then let me play some more.
Speaker ABecause when.
Speaker AEspecially when you come in.
Speaker AGreat.
Speaker AAnd then when your wife comes in, things get quiet.
Speaker BYo, what's up?
Speaker AFirst of all, we got this.
Speaker AThis one confused me.
Speaker AIt like I've been going to the movies recently.
Speaker ALike the actual theater at one of the commercials they show over and over and over is how much better it is to watch movies in the theater.
Speaker AAnd I'm like, yeah, I know, I'm right here.
Speaker AYou don't have to tell me to go to the theater.
Speaker AI'm already here.
Speaker AAnd so we start off with this guy telling me to listen to a show that I just click play on.
Speaker ASo I'm kind of confused.
Speaker AYour boy ET look, if you're looking.
Speaker BTo or you got to raise the bar on your marriage, you gotta, you gotta click the link and get in the marriage.
Speaker BCrazy girl telling you this coaching is gonna take your relationship to another level.
Speaker BNow look, you already know you need to raise the bar.
Speaker BYou know that already.
Speaker BSo stop thinking or overthinking.
Speaker BClick that link.
Speaker BAnd marriage in the crazy is gonna take you and your spouse to marital bliss.
Speaker BNow you know, click the button.
Speaker BLet's go.
Speaker AYeah, so click the button.
Speaker AI'm like, I.
Speaker AI just did.
Speaker AI'm waiting for the show to start.
Speaker BWelcome back to another episode.
Speaker ANow notice how you guys are considerably.
Speaker AIf we go back to that intro where she was talking, I'm going to see if I get lucky here.
Speaker AAt some point, you realize, nice and loud.
Speaker AAnd then we go to you guys.
Speaker BEpisode of the Mary in a crazy podcast with Considerably I am lovey.
Speaker BAnd.
Speaker AAnd if we care if we want to get nitpicky, there's a bit of going on there with the microphone, but we'll let that.
Speaker AWe're not going to get nitpicky.
Speaker BThank you for actually joining us for another episode because you could be doing lots of different things and you've chosen to build your marriage or at least reach out.
Speaker BLook into.
Speaker BListen to another resource that's going to help your relationship or at least we hope so you chose to partake in some of the shenanigans.
Speaker BExactly.
Speaker BAnd so married for 28 years, going on 29 years.
Speaker ASo just to show you what this looks like, you'll notice here, these are about right where you want them, right?
Speaker AAnd then you get this, this kind of quiet thing.
Speaker AAnd then I think this is ET Saying tune in.
Speaker ABut this is where you guys come in and, like, way down here, like, you're really quiet.
Speaker AAnd the.
Speaker AThe thing that will drive people nuts, especially if they're listening in the car, because most of the time, if I'm sitting in a quiet room and it gets quiet, not a big deal because I don't have anything competing.
Speaker ABut if you're in the car and the sound of the tires and traffic and stuff, that's when you have to really grab the volume knob.
Speaker AAnd if you continually make your audience grab the volume knob, they're gonna get one of those times, they're gonna reach for the volume knob and go, okay, that's enough.
Speaker AAnd they just hit delete or go to the next.
Speaker AAnd so you can kind of see here as I go through, you gotta, you know, we're kind of back to normal.
Speaker ABut then down here, when you played a clip of E.T.
Speaker Ayou know, now I'm blasting your head off.
Speaker AAnd then we kind of go back to being quiet.
Speaker AAnd then if I go way down to the end, the end is super duper loud.
Speaker ANow, there's a free tool you can use to fix this called Auphonic.
Speaker AIt's a U, P, H O, N I C.
Speaker AAnd they give you, I think, two hours a month to just you upload.
Speaker ABasically, you could export out of whatever you're using to a WAV file uploaded to Auphonic, and they will turn it into an MP3 file and leverage out all the volume stuff.
Speaker ASo that was just the first thing I kind of noticed.
Speaker AI was like, oh, wait a minute, we got a volume issue here.
Speaker ANow, again, in a quiet room, I noticed it, but it wasn't like I couldn't hear her, but it was just a case where I was like, wait a minute, what's going on here?
Speaker ASo that's, again, a super easy fix.
Speaker AAnd are you both sharing that one microphone?
Speaker BNo, we have two mics.
Speaker AOkay, good, because that's the other thing that I see.
Speaker AA lot of times people will share and then somebody's hogging it or whatever.
Speaker ABut you got to make sure that when you're on the mic, you're on the mic.
Speaker AI always say, about three fingers away.
Speaker ALike right now, I'm actually not as close as I usually am, but that just helps eliminate some of the room noise.
Speaker AI usually talk across it because that way, when I say, please bring pizza pronto, I don't get all these plosives and popping P's and B's and all that other fun stuff.
Speaker ABut all in all, I thought the intro, the actual intro, where the lady said, welcome to the show and here's what's gonna happen.
Speaker AAnd then you explain that.
Speaker AAll in all, it started off.
Speaker ABut the thing that I thought was interesting is you then did a quick view of your story and you got your street cred in there, and then you kind of went on tangents a little bit.
Speaker AAnd so the title was about the importance of creating together.
Speaker AAnd you talked about E.T.
Speaker Aand then you played a clip of E.T.
Speaker Akind of introducing the topic.
Speaker AAnd the thing I noticed is you kind of kept almost getting to it.
Speaker AAnd then you take a little tangent.
Speaker ALike I remember there was around the eight minute mark, you kind of introduced it and then you got into in it.
Speaker AI love it because it shows the nature of your relationship, because you're both kind of joking about who gets top billing, you or her, things like that.
Speaker ABut I was like, okay, but I never really heard you say, on today's show, we're going to talk about blank.
Speaker AWe kind of got a hint of it at the beginning, but the audience at the beginning of the show is kind of like, today we're going to talk about blank.
Speaker AAnd that way they can decide, is this for me or not?
Speaker AAnd some people like, well, yeah, but what if it's not for them?
Speaker AThen they're going to tune out.
Speaker AI'm like, yeah, and you just save them 20 minutes of time of not, you know, or eight minutes till they go, oh, this isn't about me.
Speaker AAnd then they skip.
Speaker ASo anytime you can let the audience know what's coming, they benefit.
Speaker AMy buddy Eric Johnson always says, nobody gets on a bus without knowing where it's going.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker AAnd if you kind of do your intro story, which I understand why you're doing that, let's say that's three minutes.
Speaker ASo that's a little long, but I get it.
Speaker AIt's a long story.
Speaker AIt's hard to summarize 29 years in the 30 seconds, but those people are going to skip that.
Speaker AIf you do that every episode, you'll see if you go on Apple podcasts where people probably are skipping a big chunk of the beginning.
Speaker AAnd that sounds bad, but they're probably your followers who have heard you talk about your origin story.
Speaker ABefore, and they're like, hey, where's the thing where I talk about creating together?
Speaker ASo they're probably looking for that.
Speaker ASo keep that in your mind as well.
Speaker ABut you kind of want to get to it.
Speaker AAnd so when I looked at it and like, when do you actually get into creating?
Speaker AIt was around the 12 minute mark.
Speaker AAnd for me, that's a little long.
Speaker AYou want to kind of get to it.
Speaker AAnd this is again, consider your source.
Speaker AThis is the old teacher speaking, right?
Speaker AYou tell them what you're going to tell them, and then you tell them, and then you tell them what you told them.
Speaker AAnd I didn't really hear anything besides that guy at the beginning saying, God is a creator and we should be a creator as well.
Speaker AAnd so for me, I was just like, just a little clearer concept of like, here's what we're going to talk about today.
Speaker AAnd you know, if you can, here's how you're going to benefit.
Speaker ABut the benefit's always you're going to have a stronger marriage.
Speaker ASo that doesn't really change.
Speaker ABut there was some good stuff in here.
Speaker AThe.
Speaker AA couple of things.
Speaker AWell, I realized the second time I listened, I put in my notes, who is ET but you explained it when I went back and listened because you're just like, here's E.T.
Speaker Aand I was like, phone home.
Speaker ALike, what's going on?
Speaker AAnd I realized when I listened to it the second time, I was like, oh, no, you introduced him, so that's good.
Speaker ABut there was, when he came on, there was a bit of a volume jump.
Speaker ABut I did like the fact that you had a section here where you kind of got into like, why do we need to create?
Speaker BBut when all that began and then it felt right, and then it felt like we need to take more steps in the direction that we're being led.
Speaker BIt was, we had no idea that it was about, you know, I need you to create like I created.
Speaker BI need you to help create a spark in other couples relationships.
Speaker BI need you to actually create in your home so your children can actually see that I'm a God of creation and that you are, you know, an extension of my creation and within your creation in the home that you need to encourage them to create as well.
Speaker BIt's a cascading effect.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd when I speak to the other couples, you know, I've spoken to quite a few husbands and a few couples that we're like, you know what?
Speaker BWe've realized that standing alone, we do quite, you know, we applaud each other and we do great things on our own, but it's like, wow, what are we really doing?
Speaker BAnd they think, oh, I need to create a business or I need to create, you know, something else.
Speaker BAnd I had to explain to them that it's not necessarily broken down to like a business.
Speaker BIt doesn't have to be that you can create harmony in your home and that's creation.
Speaker BNow you can create, you know, some happiness.
Speaker BYou can create joy if you're out there together supporting like, you know, like you're the soccer dad or the soccer mom or like last night I was, I.
Speaker BI didn't get back on the court, but I went to go support, you know, my old partner in coaching.
Speaker BAnd it was amazing to see some of the girls that I used to coach in their senior year just doing their thing and.
Speaker BBut to be there with them.
Speaker BBut he and his wife Scott and Jan, for the last probably like two years she's been there with them lock and step.
Speaker BWhen they see Coach Scott, they, they ultimately see Jan.
Speaker BThey've been creating and pouring into to these young girls lives for years.
Speaker BHe and I were together coaching for what, 10 years?
Speaker B10, 11 years.
Speaker BAnd you know, he was doing it before we came together.
Speaker BBut there's so many kids that come up and they're like, oh, coach, you know, you were such an integral part of when I was a kid, when I was growing up and what they were doing and Jan was there and the support and doing stuff like we're having the bonding nights and doing things behind the scenes and getting the girls and lifting them up.
Speaker BThey were creating, they've created and poured in these individuals.
Speaker BThere's so many different things that you can do as a couple to.
Speaker AAnd I'll stop it there.
Speaker AI just thought that for me that had so many little things in it because at first you're talking about, I love the fact that people like, well, what do you mean?
Speaker AAm I supposed to start a business together?
Speaker AYou're like, no.
Speaker AAnd then you threw in.
Speaker ASo there are a lot of really things that people didn't think about that, that they kind of went, oh yeah, I am harmony and happiness and these are things I can create.
Speaker AAnd the fact.
Speaker AAnd then you had the real life example of your coaching buddy and his wife and when you're a soccer person or whatever.
Speaker AAnd the fact that I think her name was Jan was behind the scenes helping that.
Speaker AAnd then I know you brought up an example of a movie like the Oscars and everybody coming up on stage and that was good as well.
Speaker AAnd at that point, I was kind of happy because I noticed at that point you'd made your point.
Speaker ALike, we get it.
Speaker AWorking together.
Speaker AWe're stronger than we are apart.
Speaker AAnd I was like, okay, I got it.
Speaker AWe've got the coaching guy.
Speaker AWe've got the movie people.
Speaker AAnd at that point, you kind of were like, all right, you'd hit your point, and you kind of moved on.
Speaker ABecause I've seen people do that where they'll have a point and they'll give you four different varieties of it.
Speaker AAnd that's when it gets a little old, because there's a time when your audience is going to go, yeah, we get it.
Speaker AWe're better together.
Speaker ANext.
Speaker AThe one thing I thought that was, that I was waiting for and I didn't hear is, if this is for people that are having problems with their marriage, what are the things that they're going to say?
Speaker ALike what?
Speaker AI never heard the answer of, like, well, they don't want to do anything with me.
Speaker AI didn't hear, like.
Speaker ALike any kind of objection overcoming with that.
Speaker AThat was the only thing that I was kind of like, all right, we've got the benefit, so we understand why we should, but we're talking to people who aren't, like, getting together and things like that.
Speaker ASo what do you do when your spouse doesn't want to do things together?
Speaker AOr what if you don't have anything in common?
Speaker ABecause I know I have some friends that they got married, everything was in common, they grew up and they grew apart, and now nothing's in common.
Speaker AAnd so I'm not sure if that's something you guys would be comfortable speaking about or whatever.
Speaker ABut that was the only thing I thought, if I were to add something in here or if I was a listener, you know, what would I want?
Speaker ABut all in all, I thought it went okay, especially the real life examples.
Speaker AThe one thing that if I jump to the end, because, again, the thing that really shines through is you and Snooki's relationship.
Speaker ALike, you guys sound like an old married couple.
Speaker AYou know what I mean?
Speaker AAnd it's cute and it's warm and fuzzy, and so that's the cool part.
Speaker ABut if we get to.
Speaker AThat's why I asked you, why are you doing this?
Speaker AAnd when we go to the Call to action, there almost isn't one.
Speaker ASo thanks for joining us.
Speaker BAnd until the next time, be blessed.
Speaker BOh, and before we go, please go over to marydentalcrazy.com.
Speaker AOh, yeah, sorry.
Speaker BSee, all the different ways that we Pour into your marriage.
Speaker BYep.
Speaker BAll right.
Speaker BBye.
Speaker ABye.
Speaker BBye.
Speaker BThank you for listening to the Married into Crazy podcast with Snooks and Lovey.
Speaker BPlease, like, subscribe to and review the show wherever you access it and tell a friend about us.
Speaker BVisit marriedintocrazy.com and see how Snooks and Lovie can bless your marriage directly.
Speaker AAll right, Again, major volume change.
Speaker AI was like, holy cow.
Speaker AWhen I first went to your site, I really.
Speaker AThe first thing I.
Speaker AI thought you guys were selling swag, but I thought I saw swag.
Speaker AMaybe.
Speaker BThere is.
Speaker BThere is.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BOne of the tabs is a store that actually.
Speaker AStore.
Speaker AThat's.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ABecause when I first came over, I was like, okay, let's look at the ways that, you know, I can.
Speaker AYou.
Speaker AYou can pour into me.
Speaker AAnd I was like, okay, well, let's see what that is.
Speaker AFirst of all, I love the fact you have a.
Speaker AA color scheme.
Speaker AIs this something you guys did, or did you have somebody do it for you?
Speaker BNo, we had someone do it for us.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AI'm going to say, because it looks.
Speaker AYou got a lot of nice white space in it, and you've got a color scheme with the orange and the yellow and the black.
Speaker ASo I thought that looks great when you come to it, you know, married into crazy with Snooks and Lovey marriage mentors, helping couples navigate.
Speaker ASo I know exactly what this site is and start your journey.
Speaker AAnd that's when I was like, okay, cool.
Speaker AAnd it's marriage counseling.
Speaker AAnd then you got the videos here where everybody's, you know, testimonials and things like that.
Speaker ASo that's the part I thought was good.
Speaker AThat.
Speaker AThe fact that when I first landed here.
Speaker ABut then I thought.
Speaker AAnd it was just me, like, clicking out loud.
Speaker AI don't know why, but I missed the.
Speaker AStart your journey, buddy.
Speaker AThat's my fault.
Speaker AAnd instead I was like, oh, if I wanted to monetize, I would click on the store.
Speaker ASo when I went to the store, that's when I said, oh, wait, they're just selling swag.
Speaker AWhich I've got to ask, do you sell any, you know, married into crazy swag?
Speaker ABecause most people don't do.
Speaker AThat's good for you.
Speaker BActually, it's sparse.
Speaker BIn the beginning, it was a lot more.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BBut every now and then, stuff, like, comes up, and it's not like it's a ton.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker AWell, that's good because I know people that have had stores for years and sell absolutely zero, and you've got a decent logo, so that Works, so that helps as well.
Speaker ASubscribe to your newsletter.
Speaker AGreat.
Speaker AThat it's right here on the front page.
Speaker AIs there anything you could give away, like the top 10 tips of something something?
Speaker ABecause a lot of people, we want them on our newsletter.
Speaker ANewsletters are so powerful because now they're one click away from either ordering that swag or ordering some counseling or whatever.
Speaker AThey're one click away.
Speaker ABut most people don't wake up and go, well, I hope I can find a newsletter to sign up for today.
Speaker ABut if you give them a reason, then that might help again.
Speaker ANow, some people will sign up for your email just because they love your show, they love you, and they want more.
Speaker ASo I love the fact you got pictures of you guys here.
Speaker ASo that's.
Speaker APeople are always gonna wanna know that.
Speaker AAnd you're using your brand with all the different things that you offer here.
Speaker ASo I thought that was cool.
Speaker AAnd then we finally get into, you know, the fact that you're really into coaching and you've got individual coaching and all your services.
Speaker ASo I thought that was lined up well.
Speaker AAnd the one thing that is that I was like, okay, this is cool, right?
Speaker AEverything's great.
Speaker AAnd then I clicked on the podcast and you have a coaching tab as well, which, again, in case you're like me and missed the let's talk button, it's right there.
Speaker ABut when I went to podcast, what I expected to see were the episodes.
Speaker AAnd they're not here now.
Speaker AI can go to another website on YouTube, Apple or Spotify.
Speaker ASo that's good.
Speaker AYou got probably 90% of podcast listeners here.
Speaker AAnd we're here, our podcast, we cover all sorts of things.
Speaker ABut one of the things you're really missing here is if you treat every episode like a blog post and just put a player and I forget who you're using.
Speaker AI want to say Buzzsprout for your media host.
Speaker AWhoever it is, you're missing out on, like, an insane amount of SEO.
Speaker ABecause if you had a blog post that said, you know, the title of your show, you know, how creating things together can build you stronger.
Speaker AAnd then you have your, you know, here's what you can take away from this episode.
Speaker AIt's all those words are good words, and that's going to drive Google to your podcast.
Speaker AAnd then if you have a player on that particular post, what happens is people will click on it and they start to listen.
Speaker AAnd the longer they stay on your website, the more Google goes.
Speaker AThat's weird.
Speaker AEvery time somebody goes over to Ernie's website, they're there for like 18 minutes.
Speaker AAnd so Google's gonna say, I don't know what's going on over there, but this must be a really good website because everybody else, when you go to Dave's website or Steve or Jill or whoever, they're there for 10 seconds and they leave and they're staying on your website because they're clicking on the player.
Speaker AAnd you've got ways to not just SEO for marriage counseling.
Speaker ANow you can have keywords for all those things that people are looking for with marriage counseling.
Speaker AAnd so that was the big thing I saw that.
Speaker AI was like, oh, that's some low hanging fruit.
Speaker AAnd you've already typed them.
Speaker AOh, you're using Libsyn.
Speaker AI remember this.
Speaker ANow you're using Libsyn as your media host.
Speaker AAnd the beauty of that is you've already got your show notes in Libsyn so you can just copy them.
Speaker AAnd is this, I'm assuming, WordPress or something?
Speaker AYou just go in and make a blog post, copy and paste your show notes, and then you can copy and paste the player and embed it right there on your website.
Speaker AAnd that's when I went in.
Speaker AOne of the things that you want to look at is where, when I'm listening to this show in Apple Podcasts and it says website, where does it go?
Speaker AAnd right now you have it set up that people go to the Libsyn website and that's okay, but you want them to go to your website because the more people link to your website, the better the SEO.
Speaker AIf you are making these posts on your website, you can say, hey, here's where it is.
Speaker AAnd then when people listen in the app, whatever that is, Apple Podcast or Spotify, there should be a link for website in that episode which will take them to your website where you have the show notes.
Speaker AAnd again that's just another link back to your site which can then boost your, your SEO.
Speaker ASo that's, I mean, that's three clicks and you're, you're done.
Speaker AAnd we're putting your show notes on the website.
Speaker AThat's, you know, copy, paste, copy paste.
Speaker ASo we're talking 10 clicks and you can really boost your SEO.
Speaker ADoes that kind of make sense?
Speaker BIt does, yeah.
Speaker BI have to go back.
Speaker BBut yeah, yeah, I'm gonna say, I.
Speaker ARealize we, I just covered that in 10 seconds.
Speaker ABut other than that, like I said, I would try to set up the show and let people know what it's about and then try to get to that as quickly as possible.
Speaker ANow if you have like, hey, I want to talk about what's going on with my week.
Speaker ANothing against that.
Speaker AI wouldn't lead with that.
Speaker AI would put that at the end where all the super fans are still listening.
Speaker ASo if you're like, hey, let's talk about, you know, Mr.
Speaker AWhiskers and how our cat chewed up the couch or whatever, just do that at the end.
Speaker AThat's not going to be the best first impression.
Speaker ABut all in all, like I said, you had some great things in there.
Speaker AI hear the passion in your you guys voices.
Speaker AAnd I always say, at the heart of every good podcaster is the heart of a servant.
Speaker AAnd I could hear that where you guys really do want to help people.
Speaker AAny questions for me?
Speaker BNo.
Speaker BI think it's funny.
Speaker BSome of the things you talked about are things that we've discussed and like you're talking about the newsletter.
Speaker BThat's something that we just talked about.
Speaker BWe have a virtual assistant and we're actually in the process of doing that because I had asked her, can we have something, a lead magnet, if you will, but converting that over to something just to add in.
Speaker BSo that's in the process and then we're aware of it.
Speaker BI'm just trying to figure out how to actually get that volume problem actually fixed.
Speaker BSo I'm going to look up the audio.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAuphonic.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AWhat do you.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AA U P H O-N I C dot com.
Speaker AIt sounds like you played that clip live.
Speaker ASo was that just going into your Scarlett or how when you actually record and edit, what are you using?
Speaker BYou're going to laugh.
Speaker ANo, just.
Speaker BJust GarageBand.
Speaker AThere you go.
Speaker AIt's free.
Speaker ACan't beat it.
Speaker ASo, yeah, so that's just where it's been a while.
Speaker AI'm very rusty in GarageBand, but somewhere there's a volume meter in there and you just want to make sure that you're shooting anywhere from minus six to about minus.
Speaker AWell, you don't want to go over zero.
Speaker AZero makes it distort.
Speaker ASo I usually.
Speaker AAnd it's weird because the like minus 12 is low, but minus 6 is high, which sounds backwards.
Speaker ABut you're going up to zero.
Speaker ASo minus 12 would be about as quiet as I'd want to be.
Speaker AAnd minus six is like right in kind of the yellow area in most places.
Speaker AAnd that's.
Speaker AThat's okay because that gives you a chance if you want to get mad about something, you've got a little room without going into the.
Speaker AThe red and completely into zero.
Speaker ABut what it is is if you have, you know, a spot where this is the space we give you.
Speaker ASo it's a.
Speaker AI think of it like a glass of water.
Speaker AHere's.
Speaker AHere's your empty glass to fill up with sound.
Speaker AIf you fill it up halfway, the other half is filled up with his.
Speaker AAnd so what happens is you go, oh, this isn't loud enough.
Speaker AAnd when you go in and say, oh, this is only half the volume, increase this volume by 2x, you're also increasing the hiss by 2x and you.
Speaker AYou end up with this weird back and forth to where eventually, A, it's a hassle and then B, it's just kind of not impossible to get rid of hiss.
Speaker AThere are great tools and things like that, but if you can just record things the best you can, you're already going to save yourself a ton of time.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AIf you're going to use Auphonic, just export out of GarageBand as a wav file and upload it to Auphonic and you'll be amazed.
Speaker AIt just, it's.
Speaker AIt's kind of a miracle worker.
Speaker AIt'll.
Speaker ABecause especially if you're doing any interviews or, you know, you're playing clips, you know, sometimes you hit the button, you're like, oh, I didn't realize that was that loud.
Speaker AIt'll bring those down and it'll bring the ones that are too soft up and somehow it removes the hiss without making it sound like you're underwater.
Speaker ASo it's pretty cool.
Speaker AAny other questions?
Speaker BNo, that's it.
Speaker BI appreciate your time.
Speaker AI gotta ask you, what inspired you to get in the hot seat?
Speaker BFor a very long time, I've been thinking about getting a podcast coach, and I've been waffling on it and finally my wife said, just pull the trigger.
Speaker BJust do it.
Speaker BSo, of course I went to your website and I thought about it and then I saw the hot seat.
Speaker BI thought, you know what, why don't I just jump in and I don't mind getting kicked in the rear end, you know, from time to time.
Speaker BSo I thought, why not?
Speaker AAnd I always tell people it's usually not that it's absolutely horrible, like everything we found here today.
Speaker AOh, your volume's a little off.
Speaker AYou know, it took you a bit to get to the content.
Speaker AThat's fixable.
Speaker AYou know, you're pointing to the wrong thing.
Speaker AAnd Libsyn, that's fixable.
Speaker ALike, it's nothing.
Speaker ALike, oh, this is, you know, the worst podcast I've ever heard.
Speaker ANo, and you've got.
Speaker AYou guys have been doing this a While.
Speaker ASo you're up to it and the other thing.
Speaker AAnd correct me if it sounds like you guys are having fun.
Speaker BWe are.
Speaker BIt's enjoyable.
Speaker BYou know, we hope to be doing this into our 80s.
Speaker AYeah, that's it.
Speaker AThat's me.
Speaker AAs long as I can talk and got my brain, I'm like, I'm ready to do this.
Speaker APeople like, well, how long are you going to podcast?
Speaker AI'm like, till the day I die, hopefully.
Speaker ASo, you know, because the older we get, the wiser we get and we got more time if you got empty nests going on.
Speaker AA lot of the people I work with are boomers and I'm like, don't turn your back on a boomer, man.
Speaker AThey got lots of knowledge, lots of time and a budget.
Speaker ASo go to town.
Speaker AErnie, thanks for coming on the show.
Speaker BThanks for having me.
Speaker ASuper nice guy.
