Jordan Spieth Channels Inner Tony Romo, Predicts Scottie Scheffler's Chip-In Eagle on Live TV

Jordan Spieth Channels Inner Tony Romo, Predicts Scottie Scheffler's Chip-In Eagle on Live TV

If there's anything Jordan Spieth is known for, it's talking on the golf course. Talking to himself, his caddy Michael Greller, the ball, and occasionally predicting the future.

The latter was the case on Friday during the second round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Club and Lodge. After his round, Spieth joined the Golf Channel's broadcast team near the 16th green as a guest commentator for more than an hour.

Spieth offered the expected insights on golf shots, situations players were facing, the course and a litany of other topics, but his moment to shine came as the cameras shifted to the world's best player, Scottie Scheffler just before an eagle attempt on the par-5 No. 12.

Scheffler was getting ready to chip his ball toward the green when Spieth made his prediction:

“I’d take a chance on this one scaring the hole,” Spieth says as Scheffler takes his strike, copying former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who especially early in his broadcasting career for CBS made predictions that came true.

And of course, Scheffler's eagle attempt was good.

“You’re 1 for 1 in making predictions,” Kaufman said after the shot.

Spieth added: “I’m assuming that was live? I didn’t hear anything in my ears, so that was fortunate.”
