The recent delivery of the "People's Climate Strategy" to the Member for Nicholls, Damian Drum, on behalf of Friends of the Earth (FoE) was not to be, according to FoE, an ambush and although I tried to ensure it was not that, it still became an energetic conversation about the climate crisis.
Damian and I talked about many things, among them the alarming outbreak of heat in north-western America and part of Canada, a reality addressed by many organizations from within the world's media
And among them was:
"British Columbia sees 195% increase in sudden deaths during Canada heatwave" - from The Guardian;
"A Deadly Summer in the Pacific Northwest Augurs More Heat Waves, and More Deaths to Come"
- from Inside Climate News;
"Canada is a warning: more and more of the world will soon be too hot for humans" - from The Guardian;
"Global Warming Cauldron Boils Over in the Northwest in One of the Most Intense Heat Waves on Record Worldwide" - from Inside Climate News;
"This is What Happens When You Irrigate a Desert" - from The New York Times;
"I Moved to Portland Because It Seemed Like a Safe Bet in the Face of Climate Change. I Was Naive" - from Rolling Stone magazine;
"Hundreds of deaths linked to record-breaking heat in Canada" - from The New Daily;
"Joe Biden blames climate crisis for deadly heatwave in western US and Canada" - from The Guardian;
"How did a small town in Canada become one of the hottest places on Earth?" - from The Guardian;
"That Heat Dome? Yeah, It’s Climate Change" - from The New York Times.
