(277) “Not Sin-Conscious, Relationship-Conscious”

Many of us grew up in legalism hearing, “Don’t sin! People will think badly of you!” But is that the right motive not to sin? And if not, what is the right motivation? The answer is Love for the Father.

The Busses dive into the Scripture to explore this life-changing topic. We must each understand that our sin doesn’t just hurt other people, but it hurts the heart of our Heavenly Father. The Father wants to hold us so close to Him, but when we sin, we separate ourselves from His Presence. It’s not just about a list of dos and don’ts, it’s really about your relationship with your Father. So if you’ve found yourself in some blunders, now is the time to confess, repent, and just come back to Him. Let Him remind you how much He loves you and draw you back into relationship, and you’ll stop sinning because when you love Him, you will keep His commandments.

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:01.840
You just have to be reminded once in a while

00:00:01.840 --> 00:00:05.099
about how much he loves you and just get lost

00:00:05.099 --> 00:00:08.039
in his love. If you get lost in his love, you're

00:00:08.039 --> 00:00:10.720
not going to sin against him. You're just not.

00:00:11.480 --> 00:00:13.759
Because you get lost in his love and it's going

00:00:13.759 --> 00:00:16.920
to cause you to love him. And when you love him,

00:00:17.039 --> 00:00:30.179
you're going to keep his commandments. to pour

00:00:30.179 --> 00:00:33.840
out his spirit on all humanity. Welcome to Global

00:00:33.840 --> 00:00:36.240
Outpouring, where we contend for that promised

00:00:36.240 --> 00:00:39.280
outpouring, we equip for that outpouring, so

00:00:39.280 --> 00:00:42.920
that we may engage in that very outpouring. I'm

00:00:42.920 --> 00:00:45.399
Philip Buss. And I'm Sharon Buss. Welcome to

00:00:45.399 --> 00:00:49.179
the podcast today. We want to talk about something

00:00:49.179 --> 00:00:52.960
that is really... Well, it's tenderizing my heart,

00:00:53.020 --> 00:00:55.320
and I hope that you'll have that same experience,

00:00:55.579 --> 00:00:58.979
because we want to talk not about sin consciousness,

00:00:59.380 --> 00:01:07.480
but about relationship consciousness. We're so

00:01:07.480 --> 00:01:09.599
glad that you've joined us today. Thank you so

00:01:09.599 --> 00:01:12.659
much for tuning in. We want to encourage you,

00:01:12.680 --> 00:01:14.840
if you haven't already done so, that you go to

00:01:14.840 --> 00:01:18.260
our website, globaloutpouring .net. and that

00:01:18.260 --> 00:01:20.980
you make sure that you have subscribed to our

00:01:20.980 --> 00:01:24.280
email lists. Any of them that you choose, we

00:01:24.280 --> 00:01:26.540
want to stay in touch with you, and we hope you

00:01:26.540 --> 00:01:29.000

00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:30.879
to give us some feedback, there's a feedback

00:01:30.879 --> 00:01:34.299
form there on that website, and there's also

00:01:34.299 --> 00:01:37.079
an email address, feedback at globaloutpouring

00:01:37.079 --> 00:01:39.420
.org. If you'd like to write to us, we would

00:01:39.420 --> 00:01:41.420
love to hear from you. It really means a lot

00:01:41.420 --> 00:01:43.640
to us, and it's very encouraging to us that we're

00:01:43.640 --> 00:01:47.200
actually getting somewhere to somebody. know,

00:01:47.260 --> 00:01:49.299
we're sitting in front of microphones looking

00:01:49.299 --> 00:01:53.319
at each other. And it's just, it's not like we

00:01:53.319 --> 00:01:56.400
are aware of our audience. So we just want to

00:01:56.400 --> 00:01:59.219
encourage you that if you are interested in hearing

00:01:59.219 --> 00:02:01.540
more of this kind of content and reading more

00:02:01.540 --> 00:02:03.640
of this kind of content, we've got loads of things

00:02:03.640 --> 00:02:06.519
on our website that I believe you would be blessed

00:02:06.519 --> 00:02:10.180
by. And so we're coming to our subject today,

00:02:10.379 --> 00:02:13.419
not being sin conscious, but being relationship

00:02:13.419 --> 00:02:17.979
conscious. This has kind of been a how shall

00:02:17.979 --> 00:02:19.819
I say, it's not a thorn in my flesh or anything

00:02:19.819 --> 00:02:22.699
like that, but something that's bothered me in

00:02:22.699 --> 00:02:27.840
the scripture that I, you know, when we have

00:02:27.840 --> 00:02:31.280
these difficulties understanding something that's

00:02:31.280 --> 00:02:34.340
written there and our flesh goes, no, that's

00:02:34.340 --> 00:02:40.539
not true. We did a recent episode about the consequences

00:02:40.539 --> 00:02:43.909
of sin. Because the consequences, they're like

00:02:43.909 --> 00:02:48.129
a ripple effect that go out among others around

00:02:48.129 --> 00:02:52.270
you. That your sin that you do yourself isn't

00:02:52.270 --> 00:02:55.569
just affecting you. And it's not just affecting

00:02:55.569 --> 00:02:57.669
your relationship with God. It affects other

00:02:57.669 --> 00:03:00.289
people because you're allowing some darkness

00:03:00.289 --> 00:03:04.409
in and affects others. So one of the scriptures

00:03:04.409 --> 00:03:08.099
that has bothered me for... oh, probably decades,

00:03:08.400 --> 00:03:14.460
is Psalm 51, 4, where David is confessing his

00:03:14.460 --> 00:03:17.699
sin and he's repenting from his sin of having

00:03:17.699 --> 00:03:20.319
had an adulterous relationship with Bathsheba,

00:03:20.419 --> 00:03:23.639
his neighbor's wife, and his neighbor Uriah,

00:03:23.699 --> 00:03:26.340
who was one of his mighty men. Sent him to the

00:03:26.340 --> 00:03:28.840
front line purposely to get him killed. Yeah,

00:03:28.840 --> 00:03:31.800
yeah. Basically, Uriah's blood was on David's

00:03:31.800 --> 00:03:36.569
hands, really. So in this verse, David is saying

00:03:36.569 --> 00:03:41.009
against you, he's talking to God, against you,

00:03:41.050 --> 00:03:44.550
you only have I sinned and done this evil in

00:03:44.550 --> 00:03:47.349
your sight that you may be found just when you

00:03:47.349 --> 00:03:49.930
speak and blameless when you judge. And that

00:03:49.930 --> 00:03:55.319
just irked me that no. David, you're not seeing

00:03:55.319 --> 00:03:57.740
the big picture. This is hurting a whole lot

00:03:57.740 --> 00:04:01.520
of people. And the ripple effect was huge. We

00:04:01.520 --> 00:04:04.219
didn't mention it. We talked about this subject

00:04:04.219 --> 00:04:06.879
in that previous podcast. But we didn't talk

00:04:06.879 --> 00:04:09.939
about the fact that Ahithophel, who was one of

00:04:09.939 --> 00:04:13.379
David's counselors, turned on him because he

00:04:13.379 --> 00:04:16.980
was bitter and angry at David because Bathsheba

00:04:16.980 --> 00:04:21.680
was his granddaughter. So that's why he sided

00:04:21.680 --> 00:04:26.560
with... Absalom. When Absalom revolted against

00:04:26.560 --> 00:04:30.800
his father. It gave a legal right for that to

00:04:30.800 --> 00:04:34.319
happen. Exactly. All of these things were a ripple

00:04:34.319 --> 00:04:37.139
effect. But now David has been saying in the

00:04:37.139 --> 00:04:40.860
scripture, I've only sinned against you, God.

00:04:41.740 --> 00:04:45.560
And only you. Only you. And that just always

00:04:45.560 --> 00:04:48.000
bothered me. But then I ran across a scripture

00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:52.920
recently. that helped me to begin to understand.

00:04:53.480 --> 00:04:56.360
And now, you know, maybe you've always gotten

00:04:56.360 --> 00:05:00.360
this, but I didn't. So I'm just going to go off

00:05:00.360 --> 00:05:02.420
of... Well, we just didn't think as deep as you.

00:05:03.500 --> 00:05:07.259
No, but I mean, I didn't, I didn't, I just couldn't

00:05:07.259 --> 00:05:09.480
get it. But now I'm beginning to get it because

00:05:09.480 --> 00:05:13.220
I came across Leviticus chapter 6, verses 2 to

00:05:13.220 --> 00:05:17.480
7, that talks about trespassing or sinning against

00:05:17.480 --> 00:05:21.839
a neighbor. and that it's really a trespass against

00:05:21.839 --> 00:05:27.259
God. So it says in Leviticus 6, 2 -7, do you

00:05:27.259 --> 00:05:30.339
want to read that? If a person sins and commits

00:05:30.339 --> 00:05:33.540
a trespass against the Lord by lying to his neighbor

00:05:33.540 --> 00:05:36.220
about what was delivered to him for safekeeping,

00:05:36.379 --> 00:05:40.360
or about a pledge, or about a robbery, or if

00:05:40.360 --> 00:05:43.860
he has extorted from his neighbor, or if he has

00:05:43.860 --> 00:05:46.759
found what was lost and lies concerning it and

00:05:46.759 --> 00:05:50.160
swears falsely, In any one of these things that

00:05:50.160 --> 00:05:53.759
a man may do in which he sins, then it shall

00:05:53.759 --> 00:05:56.639
be, because he has sinned and is guilty, that

00:05:56.639 --> 00:06:00.399
he shall restore what he has stolen, or the thing

00:06:00.399 --> 00:06:02.839
which he has extorted, or what was delivered

00:06:02.839 --> 00:06:05.620
to him for safekeeping, or the lost thing which

00:06:05.620 --> 00:06:09.660
he found, or all that about which he has sworn

00:06:09.660 --> 00:06:13.439
falsely. He shall restore its full value. Add

00:06:13.439 --> 00:06:16.860
one -fifth more to it, and give it to whoever

00:06:16.860 --> 00:06:21.879
it belongs on the day of his trespass offering.

00:06:22.500 --> 00:06:25.079
And he shall bring his trespass offering to the

00:06:25.079 --> 00:06:28.519
Lord, a ram without blemish from the flock, with

00:06:28.519 --> 00:06:31.720
your valuation as a trespass offering to the

00:06:31.720 --> 00:06:34.720
priest. So the priest shall make atonement for

00:06:34.720 --> 00:06:37.459
him before the Lord, and he shall be forgiven

00:06:37.459 --> 00:06:39.860
for any one of these things that he may have

00:06:39.860 --> 00:06:44.540
done in which he trespasses. Okay, so here's

00:06:44.540 --> 00:06:48.019
how it began to come to me. Like, this is obviously

00:06:48.019 --> 00:06:52.720
a trespass against a person. But it says at the

00:06:52.720 --> 00:06:56.879
beginning, if a person sins and commits a trespass

00:06:56.879 --> 00:07:00.560
against the Lord, well, the dots connected in

00:07:00.560 --> 00:07:05.100
that moment. And I began to realize, hey, our

00:07:05.100 --> 00:07:10.220
sins, regardless of whom we sin against, our

00:07:10.220 --> 00:07:14.009
sins are really Against the Lord, because he

00:07:14.009 --> 00:07:17.529
gave us the rules. So if we're doing something

00:07:17.529 --> 00:07:21.769
against the rules, and when I say rules, I'm

00:07:21.769 --> 00:07:27.949
talking about the instructions that God gave

00:07:27.949 --> 00:07:31.509
us in his word. Because God said, if you'll do

00:07:31.509 --> 00:07:35.519
these things, you're going to be blessed. Everything's

00:07:35.519 --> 00:07:37.279
going to go well for you because you're doing

00:07:37.279 --> 00:07:39.740
these things. And here's some things you don't

00:07:39.740 --> 00:07:42.420
do. So don't do those things. Do these things

00:07:42.420 --> 00:07:45.040
and everything's going to go well for you. But

00:07:45.040 --> 00:07:50.540
when you choose to do something that is contrary

00:07:50.540 --> 00:07:54.199
to his word, something that's contrary to the

00:07:54.199 --> 00:07:57.079
instructions, like let's just take it back to

00:07:57.079 --> 00:07:59.759
the Garden of Eden. I was studying this the other

00:07:59.759 --> 00:08:03.939
day also that, you know, when God uses double

00:08:03.939 --> 00:08:07.589
words, It's really significant in the scripture.

00:08:07.769 --> 00:08:11.550
And we don't get it usually in the English interpretation.

00:08:11.990 --> 00:08:15.750
But if you go back into Genesis, where God is

00:08:15.750 --> 00:08:19.769
giving instructions to Adam, he says, of all

00:08:19.769 --> 00:08:23.089
the trees, you may freely eat. That's how it's

00:08:23.089 --> 00:08:27.310
translated into English. But in the Hebrew, it

00:08:27.310 --> 00:08:29.550
would be more accurate to translate it, eating

00:08:29.550 --> 00:08:33.000
you shall eat. And then he goes on in the next

00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:36.639
verse and says, but don't eat of the tree of

00:08:36.639 --> 00:08:38.500
the knowledge of good and evil. Don't eat of

00:08:38.500 --> 00:08:41.340
that fruit. Because in the day that you eat of

00:08:41.340 --> 00:08:43.919
it. You shall surely die. You shall surely die

00:08:43.919 --> 00:08:46.899
is how it's been translated for us. But from

00:08:46.899 --> 00:08:49.240
the Hebrew, it would be more accurate to say,

00:08:49.379 --> 00:08:53.720
dying you shall die. See, that was one of those

00:08:53.720 --> 00:08:56.649
other things that bothered me. from my youth.

00:08:56.909 --> 00:08:59.669
You know, if God said, you shall surely die,

00:08:59.789 --> 00:09:02.169
didn't he mean you're going to drop dead on the

00:09:02.169 --> 00:09:05.789
spot? You know, that's what I thought it should

00:09:05.789 --> 00:09:08.909
mean. But he didn't drop dead. But dying, he

00:09:08.909 --> 00:09:13.529
began to die. The process began in that moment.

00:09:13.610 --> 00:09:16.210
And in that moment, he realized, oh, I'm naked.

00:09:16.929 --> 00:09:20.590
Oh, the glory has departed. It's like when a

00:09:20.590 --> 00:09:23.429
body starts shutting down, you know, like organ

00:09:23.429 --> 00:09:26.240
at a time and all that. It's a process and it

00:09:26.240 --> 00:09:29.120
takes a while. Right, right. And it took over

00:09:29.120 --> 00:09:32.840
900 years for Adam. Dying, you shall die. But

00:09:32.840 --> 00:09:36.200
God's intent was because he had also given them

00:09:36.200 --> 00:09:41.440
instructions to reproduce. And so in order for

00:09:41.440 --> 00:09:44.419
them to complete. Those instructions that he

00:09:44.419 --> 00:09:47.539
gave them, he had to let the dying process go

00:09:47.539 --> 00:09:49.840
for a long time so that more generations would

00:09:49.840 --> 00:09:54.980
come forth and mankind would exist. Because if

00:09:54.980 --> 00:09:56.860
he dropped dead on the spot, God would have to

00:09:56.860 --> 00:09:58.740
start over and make another man out of mud. Another

00:09:58.740 --> 00:10:05.059
mud ball. So anyway, the thing that didn't enter

00:10:05.059 --> 00:10:10.480
my heart until now is that when we choose to

00:10:10.480 --> 00:10:14.950
disobey, We're actually hurting our Father. We're

00:10:14.950 --> 00:10:17.549
trespassing against Him. We're sinning against

00:10:17.549 --> 00:10:20.889
Him. Now, I have been thinking, and I understand

00:10:20.889 --> 00:10:27.889
this principle from Isaiah 52, verse 2. In the

00:10:27.889 --> 00:10:30.169
King James, it says, But your iniquities have

00:10:30.169 --> 00:10:33.090
separated between you and your God, and your

00:10:33.090 --> 00:10:36.049
sins have hid His face from you that He will

00:10:36.049 --> 00:10:40.080
not hear. And in the margin, it says, have made

00:10:40.080 --> 00:10:44.460
him hide his face from you but in the literal

00:10:44.460 --> 00:10:46.700
translations like young's literal translation

00:10:46.700 --> 00:10:50.779
it says but your iniquities have been separating

00:10:50.779 --> 00:10:54.580
between you and your god and your sins have hidden

00:10:54.580 --> 00:11:00.299
the presence from you from here yeah so you know

00:11:00.299 --> 00:11:02.240
when the presence of god leaves you when you've

00:11:02.240 --> 00:11:05.000
done something yeah well that that was part of

00:11:05.000 --> 00:11:07.129
what david prayed in that Psalm that we started

00:11:07.129 --> 00:11:10.750
with in Psalm 51, take not your Holy Spirit from

00:11:10.750 --> 00:11:13.110
me. May have already happened. And then Nathan

00:11:13.110 --> 00:11:15.250
just confirmed it when he came in and gave him

00:11:15.250 --> 00:11:18.909
the word. Yeah. You know. Yeah. So let's go on

00:11:18.909 --> 00:11:21.629
to talk about that. Yeah. I want to mention too,

00:11:21.730 --> 00:11:25.009
before this happened with Bathsheba, because

00:11:25.009 --> 00:11:27.649
you write in the first chapter, I mean, you read

00:11:27.649 --> 00:11:30.350
that at the time when kings go to battle. True.

00:11:30.470 --> 00:11:35.049
So David should have been in the battle. You

00:11:35.049 --> 00:11:38.629
know, because he lost, maybe he was just, I don't

00:11:38.629 --> 00:11:40.330
know. We don't know why he didn't go. We don't

00:11:40.330 --> 00:11:42.309
know why he didn't go. It could be another reason,

00:11:42.389 --> 00:11:46.850
but he got set up. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. He

00:11:46.850 --> 00:11:48.750
wasn't where he should have been. I mean, he

00:11:48.750 --> 00:11:50.649
can be out on your porch, but don't go looking

00:11:50.649 --> 00:11:55.929
down into your neighbor's window. Right. And

00:11:55.929 --> 00:11:58.210
apparently she must have had a very big window.

00:11:58.269 --> 00:12:00.049
I don't know. I think she was on the rooftop.

00:12:00.370 --> 00:12:03.549
On the rooftop? And he had a higher roof. Oh,

00:12:03.570 --> 00:12:07.029
wow. I think that's how it was. So before we

00:12:07.029 --> 00:12:10.730
go into the story, I want to emphasize that as

00:12:10.730 --> 00:12:13.110
we're talking about this, we need to think of

00:12:13.110 --> 00:12:17.950
God as our father. If you are a parent or if

00:12:17.950 --> 00:12:23.570
you have had good parents, knowing that God is

00:12:23.570 --> 00:12:29.149
our father should help you feel what he feels.

00:12:29.909 --> 00:12:32.799
Like the golden rule. that we learned as children,

00:12:32.919 --> 00:12:34.840
do unto others as you would have them do unto

00:12:34.840 --> 00:12:39.299
you. It's from Matthew 7, 12. Treat other people

00:12:39.299 --> 00:12:42.159
like you want to be treated. Yeah. Okay. Now

00:12:42.159 --> 00:12:48.039
think in terms of parenthood. As a parent, think

00:12:48.039 --> 00:12:51.360
about how you feel when your children disobey

00:12:51.360 --> 00:12:56.120
you. And think about how your father feels when

00:12:56.120 --> 00:13:01.399
you disobey his word. You know, sometimes a parent

00:13:01.399 --> 00:13:05.899
wants to just shut themselves away and cry at

00:13:05.899 --> 00:13:07.720
the disobedience of their children, especially

00:13:07.720 --> 00:13:10.879
as they get older. You know, I taught you better

00:13:10.879 --> 00:13:15.320
than that. Why are you doing this? You know,

00:13:15.320 --> 00:13:20.200
and especially as your children get older, you

00:13:20.200 --> 00:13:24.960
have to give them some space. You can tell them,

00:13:25.360 --> 00:13:28.360
The right thing to do, you can, probably the

00:13:28.360 --> 00:13:32.220
best thing to do is, if they're teachable, is,

00:13:32.419 --> 00:13:35.600
well, let's look at your choices. Tell me what

00:13:35.600 --> 00:13:38.000
you think based on your choices and teach them

00:13:38.000 --> 00:13:40.139
wisdom. Teach them how to make a wise decision

00:13:40.139 --> 00:13:44.659
rather than telling them what to do, right? But

00:13:44.659 --> 00:13:47.379
God does that for us. He teaches us from his

00:13:47.379 --> 00:13:51.539
word how to make good decisions. So anyway, let's

00:13:51.539 --> 00:13:54.200
go back and talk about God's dealings with David.

00:13:54.919 --> 00:13:57.759
2 Samuel 12, 13 to 25. Would you like to read

00:13:57.759 --> 00:14:02.299
that? So David said to Nathan, I have sinned

00:14:02.299 --> 00:14:05.139
against the Lord. Yeah, this is after Nathan

00:14:05.139 --> 00:14:07.340
has confronted him about his sin. You're the

00:14:07.340 --> 00:14:11.340
man. Yeah. And Nathan said to David, the Lord

00:14:11.340 --> 00:14:14.919
also has put away your sin. You shall not die.

00:14:15.139 --> 00:14:18.039
And I'll add there, according to Old Testament

00:14:18.039 --> 00:14:21.820
law, you know, you commit adultery. Yeah, you

00:14:21.820 --> 00:14:24.460
should die. You should be stoned, right? Yeah.

00:14:24.909 --> 00:14:28.490
Can't think about stoning the king. However,

00:14:28.789 --> 00:14:43.690
verse 14, Stop and to think about that. Your

00:14:43.690 --> 00:14:47.090
deed has given great occasion to the enemies

00:14:47.090 --> 00:14:50.409
of the Lord to blaspheme. Think about that in

00:14:50.409 --> 00:14:53.830
terms of, okay, so you've got the enemies that

00:14:53.830 --> 00:14:57.799
are In the physical realm. But you also have

00:14:57.799 --> 00:15:00.360
these enemies that are in the demonic realm.

00:15:00.399 --> 00:15:03.279
The demonic realm, yeah. And it's given them

00:15:03.279 --> 00:15:07.340
great delight. Yeah. And that loosed the spirit

00:15:07.340 --> 00:15:10.259
of sexual immorality in David's house. Yeah.

00:15:10.259 --> 00:15:12.980
So that Amnon went after Tamar. Tamar, yeah.

00:15:13.100 --> 00:15:16.759
And it loosed murder in Absalom that he would

00:15:16.759 --> 00:15:19.200
kill his brother for having raped his sister.

00:15:19.860 --> 00:15:23.179
And, you know, all of these demonic things were

00:15:23.179 --> 00:15:27.389
released. And Nathan points that out. But at

00:15:27.389 --> 00:15:30.809
the same time, David is saying against you, you

00:15:30.809 --> 00:15:34.730
only have I sinned. But David says, I have sinned

00:15:34.730 --> 00:15:38.129
against the Lord. And Nathan says, I've put away

00:15:38.129 --> 00:15:40.409
your sin. The Lord has also put away your sin.

00:15:40.549 --> 00:15:44.169
You shall not die. However, because by this deed

00:15:44.169 --> 00:15:46.309
you have given great occasion to the enemies

00:15:46.309 --> 00:15:49.649
of the Lord to blaspheme the child, also who

00:15:49.649 --> 00:15:54.120
is born to you shall surely die. Then Nathan

00:15:54.120 --> 00:15:57.379
departed to his house, and the Lord struck the

00:15:57.379 --> 00:16:00.600
child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it

00:16:00.600 --> 00:16:03.899
became ill. Okay, let's stop there. The Lord

00:16:03.899 --> 00:16:08.039
struck the child. Yeah. We've been taught that

00:16:08.039 --> 00:16:10.820
God doesn't cause disease. Because this is a

00:16:10.820 --> 00:16:13.899
child out of wedlock. Exactly. This is the fruit

00:16:13.899 --> 00:16:17.940
of disobedience. This is the fruit of sin. This

00:16:17.940 --> 00:16:21.399
is the fruit of, I mean, you've got adultery,

00:16:21.480 --> 00:16:23.820
and you've got... David trying to hide it by

00:16:23.820 --> 00:16:27.639
bringing Uriah back from the battle and sending

00:16:27.639 --> 00:16:29.980
him to his wife, he thinks. But Uriah wouldn't

00:16:29.980 --> 00:16:33.500
do that. So then he sends him out to be killed.

00:16:34.179 --> 00:16:41.500
So the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife

00:16:41.500 --> 00:16:45.419
bore to David. Look at that phrase, Uriah's wife

00:16:45.419 --> 00:16:50.039
bore to David. And just go ahead and read the

00:16:50.039 --> 00:16:53.529
next little part. David therefore pleaded with

00:16:53.529 --> 00:16:56.649
God for the child, and David fasted and went

00:16:56.649 --> 00:16:59.690
in and lay all night on the ground. So the elders

00:16:59.690 --> 00:17:02.929
of his house arose to him to raise him up from

00:17:02.929 --> 00:17:05.390
the ground, but he would not, nor did he eat

00:17:05.390 --> 00:17:08.650
food with them. Then on the seventh day it came

00:17:08.650 --> 00:17:11.490
to pass that the child died, and the servants

00:17:11.490 --> 00:17:13.829
of David were afraid to tell him that the child

00:17:13.829 --> 00:17:16.829
was dead. For they said, Indeed, while the child

00:17:16.829 --> 00:17:19.089
was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not

00:17:19.089 --> 00:17:21.880
hear our voice. How can we tell him that the

00:17:21.880 --> 00:17:25.779
child is dead? He may do some harm. When David

00:17:25.779 --> 00:17:28.299
saw that his servants were whispering, David

00:17:28.299 --> 00:17:30.779
perceived that the child was dead. Therefore

00:17:30.779 --> 00:17:33.099
David said to his servants, Is the child dead?

00:17:33.319 --> 00:17:36.660
And they said, He is dead. So David arose from

00:17:36.660 --> 00:17:40.039
the ground, washed and anointed himself, and

00:17:40.039 --> 00:17:42.259
changed his clothes, and he went into the house

00:17:42.259 --> 00:17:44.640
of the Lord and worshiped. Wow, look at that.

00:17:44.920 --> 00:17:49.970
Yeah. And he knew why. Yeah. He knew. That the

00:17:49.970 --> 00:17:53.130
Lord was right in doing what he did. Remember

00:17:53.130 --> 00:17:55.569
what he said at the beginning of this in that

00:17:55.569 --> 00:17:59.569
Psalm 51 .4, that you may be found just when

00:17:59.569 --> 00:18:02.230
you speak and blameless when you judge. He knew

00:18:02.230 --> 00:18:04.170
that God was right in what he did. He was just

00:18:04.170 --> 00:18:08.609
begging for mercy. Then he went to his own house,

00:18:08.690 --> 00:18:11.650
and when he requested, they set food before him,

00:18:11.710 --> 00:18:14.970
and he ate. Then the servants said to him, What

00:18:14.970 --> 00:18:17.569
is this that you've done? You fasted and wept

00:18:17.569 --> 00:18:20.009
for the child while he was yet alive, but when

00:18:20.009 --> 00:18:23.130
the child died, you rose and ate food. And he

00:18:23.130 --> 00:18:25.970
said, While the child was alive, I fasted and

00:18:25.970 --> 00:18:28.769
wept. For I said, Who can tell whether the Lord

00:18:28.769 --> 00:18:31.170
will be gracious to me that the child may live?

00:18:31.789 --> 00:18:35.170
But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I

00:18:35.170 --> 00:18:37.650
bring him back again? I shall go to him, but

00:18:37.650 --> 00:18:39.930
he shall not return to me. Isn't that amazing?

00:18:40.390 --> 00:18:42.970
He understood what it is like to be an intercessor.

00:18:43.630 --> 00:18:47.180
He was begging God. Please have mercy. Yeah.

00:18:47.359 --> 00:18:50.440
And God had mercy on him. God had mercy, big

00:18:50.440 --> 00:18:54.220
mercy on him. But he recognized there might be

00:18:54.220 --> 00:18:56.160
a chance. You know, when he numbered the people,

00:18:56.299 --> 00:18:59.660
he said, I'd rather fall into the hands of God

00:18:59.660 --> 00:19:03.160
than into the hands of men. Yeah. So he understands

00:19:03.160 --> 00:19:06.180
he has a relationship with his heavenly father.

00:19:06.240 --> 00:19:09.960
He has a relationship with God. Yeah. So we don't

00:19:09.960 --> 00:19:13.500
know how much time goes by between verse 23 and

00:19:13.500 --> 00:19:18.369
verse 24. But read verse 24 and 25. Then David

00:19:18.369 --> 00:19:21.569
comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and went into

00:19:21.569 --> 00:19:25.210
her and lay with her. So she bore a son, and

00:19:25.210 --> 00:19:29.269
he called his name Solomon. Now the Lord loved

00:19:29.269 --> 00:19:32.869
him, and he sent word by the hand of Nathan the

00:19:32.869 --> 00:19:37.410
prophet. So he called his name Jedidiah because

00:19:37.410 --> 00:19:40.750
of the Lord. This is very interesting because

00:19:40.750 --> 00:19:43.430
this is the only time you'll see this in Scripture.

00:19:43.869 --> 00:19:48.859
Yeah. I love how it says that David comforted

00:19:48.859 --> 00:19:53.000
Bathsheba, his wife, after that baby that was

00:19:53.000 --> 00:19:57.519
born out of wedlock died. So now it's a legit...

00:19:57.519 --> 00:20:04.380
Yes. Now we have Bathsheba as David's wife. She's

00:20:04.380 --> 00:20:07.599
no longer Uriah's wife. She's now David's wife.

00:20:08.200 --> 00:20:11.619
And as David's wife, she can be the mother of

00:20:11.619 --> 00:20:18.700
the next king. And just as a side note, Ahithophel,

00:20:18.779 --> 00:20:23.319
her grandfather, was one of the wisest men ever.

00:20:23.920 --> 00:20:28.880
And so that's where Solomon got the DNA of wisdom.

00:20:29.859 --> 00:20:32.619
Interesting. That, of course, God embellished.

00:20:32.700 --> 00:20:35.119
God made it bigger. God made it better. Because

00:20:35.119 --> 00:20:39.240
this is a union of the granddaughter of a very,

00:20:39.299 --> 00:20:44.220
very wise man and her husband, David. is a man

00:20:44.220 --> 00:20:48.559
after God's own heart. So those two sets of DNA

00:20:48.559 --> 00:20:51.220
together could make Solomon the wisest man in

00:20:51.220 --> 00:20:54.519
the world. Unfortunately, he wasn't so wise when

00:20:54.519 --> 00:20:57.480
it came to foreign wives. And that kind of goofed

00:20:57.480 --> 00:20:59.440
things up for him. And I think a lot of these

00:20:59.440 --> 00:21:02.380
wives were gifts, too. Oh, that could be. A lot

00:21:02.380 --> 00:21:05.099
of them were gifts. I'm giving you my wife because...

00:21:05.099 --> 00:21:07.380
I'm giving you my daughter. Daughter. It doesn't

00:21:07.380 --> 00:21:11.140
mean that he had any relation, sexual relation

00:21:11.140 --> 00:21:17.190
with them. He probably did. Yeah. Moving right

00:21:17.190 --> 00:21:21.309
along. But those were political marriages. And

00:21:21.309 --> 00:21:24.529
because of being political marriages, and it

00:21:24.529 --> 00:21:27.190
says in another place that Solomon loved many

00:21:27.190 --> 00:21:32.349
foreign women. Okay. So he was loving them. But

00:21:32.349 --> 00:21:34.490
that's really not where we're going with this

00:21:34.490 --> 00:21:36.829
story. Let's go back to where we were. So the

00:21:36.829 --> 00:21:41.329
Lord sent word, it says in verse 24, that David

00:21:41.329 --> 00:21:47.710
called, the child Solomon. And in Hebrew, that

00:21:47.710 --> 00:21:52.210
name is Shlomo. Shlomo, yeah. It sounds a little

00:21:52.210 --> 00:21:55.029
funny to us because we're used to Solomon. Yeah.

00:21:55.230 --> 00:21:59.390
But Shlomo. Sounds Yiddish almost or something.

00:22:00.910 --> 00:22:06.950
Yeah. Hey, Shlomo, come here. Shlomo means peace

00:22:06.950 --> 00:22:13.039
or peaceful or peaceable. he was all about peace.

00:22:14.240 --> 00:22:20.920
And actually, Absalom was intended to be a peaceful

00:22:20.920 --> 00:22:25.480
man too, but he didn't end up being that. David

00:22:25.480 --> 00:22:28.640
was trying to bring peace into his house, really,

00:22:28.740 --> 00:22:31.700
because he had been a man of war all along, and

00:22:31.700 --> 00:22:34.559
he was still being a man of war. But Absalom

00:22:34.559 --> 00:22:40.859
also means, my father is peace. So David was

00:22:40.859 --> 00:22:43.799
trying to present himself as a peaceable king.

00:22:44.079 --> 00:22:50.160
Yeah. So anyway. Interesting. So Solomon is given

00:22:50.160 --> 00:22:53.319
the name by David, and it says that the Lord

00:22:53.319 --> 00:23:00.019
loved him. Yehovah, the God of David, loved this

00:23:00.019 --> 00:23:03.960
baby, loved this child. And he sent word by the

00:23:03.960 --> 00:23:07.259
hand of Nathan the prophet. So he called his

00:23:07.259 --> 00:23:11.269
name, he meaning. God called his name. You could

00:23:11.269 --> 00:23:14.190
say Jedidiah, that's anglicized, but it's probably

00:23:14.190 --> 00:23:20.130
Yedidiyah. And it means beloved of Yehovah or

00:23:20.130 --> 00:23:23.690
beloved of Yah. Gezaniah says the delight or

00:23:23.690 --> 00:23:28.130
the friend of Jehovah or Yehovah. Yedid means

00:23:28.130 --> 00:23:32.710
beloved or friend. So it was intended by our

00:23:32.710 --> 00:23:37.180
father that Solomon. the one that came after

00:23:37.180 --> 00:23:41.180
David's sin with Bathsheba, that Solomon would

00:23:41.180 --> 00:23:44.440
be his friend. And he started out really well.

00:23:44.440 --> 00:23:46.460
Started out well. The Lord appeared to him. Yeah,

00:23:46.460 --> 00:23:49.200
yeah. And because you didn't ask me for riches

00:23:49.200 --> 00:23:53.640
and silver and that for wisdom, how do I lead

00:23:53.640 --> 00:23:57.519
this people? Right, right. Wow. But he didn't

00:23:57.519 --> 00:24:01.039
do a great job of following after the Lord. And

00:24:01.039 --> 00:24:04.960
that's not the point of this. The point of this

00:24:04.960 --> 00:24:09.900
episode is that our sins are sins against our

00:24:09.900 --> 00:24:14.980
Father. So let's look at a story that Jesus told

00:24:14.980 --> 00:24:19.180
about a father and a son sinning against him.

00:24:19.259 --> 00:24:23.720
In Luke chapter 15, we have the story of the

00:24:23.720 --> 00:24:26.359
prodigal son, and we know that the beginning

00:24:26.359 --> 00:24:32.150
of the story is that The man had two sons, and

00:24:32.150 --> 00:24:36.789
the one son, the younger son, he just was bored

00:24:36.789 --> 00:24:39.849
with working on the farm. And he said, come on,

00:24:39.849 --> 00:24:42.829
Dad, you're going to divide the inheritance between

00:24:42.829 --> 00:24:44.950
us when you die. Why don't you just do it now?

00:24:45.569 --> 00:24:48.529
My big brother gets twice as much as I do, but

00:24:48.529 --> 00:24:51.430
give me my portion. You know, the firstborn gets

00:24:51.430 --> 00:24:54.950
the double portion. So big brother gets the double

00:24:54.950 --> 00:24:58.410
portion. Just give me my portion. I'm going to

00:24:58.410 --> 00:25:01.710
kiss you goodbye and go and live the way I want

00:25:01.710 --> 00:25:03.950
to because I just don't like working in the fields.

00:25:04.109 --> 00:25:09.150
I wasn't born for that. That's not how I like

00:25:09.150 --> 00:25:13.650
it. So the father actually did what the younger

00:25:13.650 --> 00:25:17.690
son said. Yeah, that was quite amazing. But that's

00:25:17.690 --> 00:25:20.630
the story, though. Yeah, yeah. So the young man

00:25:20.630 --> 00:25:25.160
goes and he spends his money wildly. gains friends

00:25:25.160 --> 00:25:27.660
that will help him spend his money ridiculously

00:25:27.660 --> 00:25:32.099
and he wastes it. And then when the money's gone,

00:25:32.240 --> 00:25:34.880
a drought comes to the place where he has gone.

00:25:35.180 --> 00:25:39.579
He's gone to some foreign country and he's desperate

00:25:39.579 --> 00:25:44.299
now. He's hungry and he's penniless and he doesn't

00:25:44.299 --> 00:25:46.940
know what to do. So he goes to work on a farm.

00:25:47.319 --> 00:25:50.299
Only this time it's not a kosher farm. That's

00:25:50.299 --> 00:25:53.259
what's interesting because this is a Gentile.

00:25:53.680 --> 00:25:55.859
Yeah, well, he's gone to a foreign nation, obviously.

00:25:56.700 --> 00:26:00.000
He's hanging out with Gentiles. So now he's feeding

00:26:00.000 --> 00:26:02.700
pigs. And that's just about as low as you can

00:26:02.700 --> 00:26:05.759
go. That's what you call lower than a sow's belly.

00:26:08.160 --> 00:26:13.380
Yes, that's a good way to put it, honey. So,

00:26:13.500 --> 00:26:16.720
you know, here he is, and he's so hungry that

00:26:16.720 --> 00:26:18.819
he's ready to eat the husks that he's feeding

00:26:18.819 --> 00:26:21.740
the pigs. The pigs have food and he doesn't.

00:26:22.329 --> 00:26:26.230
Ugh, awful. So then he comes to himself. You

00:26:26.230 --> 00:26:29.529
want to read that? Luke 15, 15. Then when he

00:26:29.529 --> 00:26:32.029
went and joined himself to a citizen of that

00:26:32.029 --> 00:26:35.390
country, and he sent him into the fields to feed

00:26:35.390 --> 00:26:38.589
his swine, and he would gladly have filled his

00:26:38.589 --> 00:26:41.329
stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and

00:26:41.329 --> 00:26:44.210
no one gave him anything. But when he came to

00:26:44.210 --> 00:26:47.579
himself, he said, How many of my father's hired

00:26:47.579 --> 00:26:51.119
servants have bread enough to spare, and I perish

00:26:51.119 --> 00:26:54.119
with hunger. I will arise to go to my father

00:26:54.119 --> 00:26:57.359
and say to him, Father, I have sinned against

00:26:57.359 --> 00:26:59.799
heaven and before you. I have sinned against

00:26:59.799 --> 00:27:04.619
heaven. Yeah. And before you. Thy kingdom come,

00:27:04.740 --> 00:27:07.900
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

00:27:08.059 --> 00:27:13.460
Right. Uh -huh. Verse 19. And I am no longer

00:27:13.460 --> 00:27:16.569
worthy to be called your son. Make me like one

00:27:16.569 --> 00:27:19.569
of your hired servants. And he arose and came

00:27:19.569 --> 00:27:22.490
to his father. But when he was still a great

00:27:22.490 --> 00:27:24.910
way off, his father saw him and had compassion

00:27:24.910 --> 00:27:28.150
and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

00:27:28.910 --> 00:27:32.269
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned

00:27:32.269 --> 00:27:34.910
against heaven and in your sight, and I am no

00:27:34.910 --> 00:27:37.609
longer worthy to be called your son. But the

00:27:37.609 --> 00:27:40.210
father said to his servants, Bring out the best

00:27:40.210 --> 00:27:43.299
robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand,

00:27:43.380 --> 00:27:46.619
sandals on his feet, and bring the fatted calf

00:27:46.619 --> 00:27:49.980
here and kill it. Let us eat and be merry. For

00:27:49.980 --> 00:27:54.079
this my son was dead and is alive again. He was

00:27:54.079 --> 00:27:58.200
lost and is found. And they began to be merry.

00:27:58.960 --> 00:28:01.720
So we're not going to go into the deal with the

00:28:01.720 --> 00:28:03.839
older brother. That's not the point of this podcast.

00:28:04.220 --> 00:28:08.559
The point of this episode is I have sinned against

00:28:08.559 --> 00:28:13.109
heaven and against you. We have to recognize

00:28:13.109 --> 00:28:18.309
that our sin, when we stumble, when we are trying

00:28:18.309 --> 00:28:22.109
to make a decision about, am I going to do the

00:28:22.109 --> 00:28:25.829
thing that I want to do, even though I know I

00:28:25.829 --> 00:28:31.529
shouldn't do it, if we'll just stop and think

00:28:31.529 --> 00:28:35.089
about our father and think about how the prodigal's

00:28:35.089 --> 00:28:37.670
father must have felt when he watched his son

00:28:37.670 --> 00:28:41.410
walk away. And now he's so excited that he's

00:28:41.410 --> 00:28:44.869
come back. And that's how our father is when

00:28:44.869 --> 00:28:48.269
we come back to him. When we do like David did

00:28:48.269 --> 00:28:50.910
and said, I have sinned against you. I'm sorry.

00:28:51.009 --> 00:28:54.089
Please don't take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore

00:28:54.089 --> 00:28:57.250
unto me the joy of my salvation. You know, all

00:28:57.250 --> 00:29:00.809
of those things that David did and his expressions

00:29:00.809 --> 00:29:03.670
about how I've hurt you. I'm so sorry that I've

00:29:03.670 --> 00:29:07.079
hurt you. If we could just stop and think before

00:29:07.079 --> 00:29:11.880
we make that blunder, before we trip on that

00:29:11.880 --> 00:29:15.819
thing, before we do something that's ultimately

00:29:15.819 --> 00:29:19.319
going to hurt lots of people, not just ourselves,

00:29:19.660 --> 00:29:22.940
it's those little decisions that we make when

00:29:22.940 --> 00:29:26.019
we think nobody's looking. When you think nobody's

00:29:26.019 --> 00:29:29.799
looking. Yeah. Those things come back to bite

00:29:29.799 --> 00:29:35.299
you. You know, Satan will tempt us. And then

00:29:35.299 --> 00:29:38.980
once we have fallen into that thing, then he

00:29:38.980 --> 00:29:41.900
smears us and slimes us with shame. And look

00:29:41.900 --> 00:29:46.460
how many ministries were within a previous sin,

00:29:46.559 --> 00:29:49.519
all of a sudden, that maybe it's been repented

00:29:49.519 --> 00:29:53.500
for. But see, God forgives, but man doesn't.

00:29:53.579 --> 00:29:57.180
Man has a harder time. Well, it's true. And you

00:29:57.180 --> 00:29:59.019
have to think about the people that you're hurting.

00:29:59.180 --> 00:30:02.339
Yeah. And then they come back and... Or their

00:30:02.339 --> 00:30:05.519
family comes back to get you. Yeah. Maybe they

00:30:05.519 --> 00:30:07.380
won't, but somebody else in their line will.

00:30:07.559 --> 00:30:09.980
Yeah. It reminds me of the scripture that we

00:30:09.980 --> 00:30:12.140
just read a little while ago about what the Lord

00:30:12.140 --> 00:30:15.539
said through Nathan. By this deed, you have given

00:30:15.539 --> 00:30:17.480
great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to

00:30:17.480 --> 00:30:20.880
blaspheme. And that's why all of these people

00:30:20.880 --> 00:30:25.160
that are being exposed now. And I just read something

00:30:25.160 --> 00:30:29.799
recently about... some ministry or school or

00:30:29.799 --> 00:30:32.180
something that was supposed to be a Christian

00:30:32.180 --> 00:30:35.339
organization, and they were trafficking children.

00:30:35.960 --> 00:30:42.160
Evil. Absolute evil. We have caused great blaspheme.

00:30:42.759 --> 00:30:46.640
It's horrific. But you can't blame Jesus when

00:30:46.640 --> 00:30:50.539
somebody that names his name goofs up. But the

00:30:50.539 --> 00:30:53.420
point is that we're hurting our relationship

00:30:53.420 --> 00:30:56.589
with our Father. When we make those bad choices.

00:30:57.109 --> 00:30:59.950
And God wants to redeem. That's the whole point.

00:31:00.109 --> 00:31:04.150
He wants to redeem. You know, we were raised,

00:31:04.329 --> 00:31:08.049
you and I, we were raised with the idea that

00:31:08.049 --> 00:31:12.789
you do things right because people are watching

00:31:12.789 --> 00:31:15.769
and what will they think if we do something wrong?

00:31:15.990 --> 00:31:19.289
Yeah. We weren't raised with, don't you realize

00:31:19.289 --> 00:31:22.490
that you're hurting God? Yeah, I never. Never

00:31:22.490 --> 00:31:24.670
heard that. I never thought of it that way. But

00:31:24.670 --> 00:31:27.609
that's really what this is about. That you're

00:31:27.609 --> 00:31:32.049
actually hurting our Heavenly Father. His disappointment.

00:31:32.670 --> 00:31:38.410
It's just so sad. He grieves. It's not His will

00:31:38.410 --> 00:31:43.190
for anyone to perish and go to hell. It's not

00:31:43.190 --> 00:31:46.369
His will. It's His will that we all be saved

00:31:46.369 --> 00:31:50.470
and come to the knowledge of Him. And it grieves

00:31:50.470 --> 00:31:54.539
Him. when his children get the wrong attitude

00:31:54.539 --> 00:31:58.720
about other people who are sinning. And they're

00:31:58.720 --> 00:32:01.420
not really taking his side. They're looking for

00:32:01.420 --> 00:32:04.740
his wrath to come. And I was just looking that

00:32:04.740 --> 00:32:08.779
up today. I found it very fascinating that where

00:32:08.779 --> 00:32:12.920
it talks about the wrath of God. So the word

00:32:12.920 --> 00:32:16.079
wrath, and I'm thinking King James. Okay, I looked

00:32:16.079 --> 00:32:19.559
this up in King James. Wrath, including all of

00:32:19.559 --> 00:32:22.710
man's wrath. occurs, the word wrath occurs 197

00:32:22.710 --> 00:32:27.069
times. Wow, okay. The word, and I spelled this

00:32:27.069 --> 00:32:30.289
venge, V -E -N -G -E, so it includes revenge

00:32:30.289 --> 00:32:35.029
and vengeance, okay, 34 times. The word anger

00:32:35.029 --> 00:32:40.049
plus the name Yehovah, 109 times. Wrath plus

00:32:40.049 --> 00:32:44.450
Yehovah, 27 times. Wrath plus God, 20 times.

00:32:45.109 --> 00:32:47.750
Okay, and some of those are included in the previous

00:32:47.750 --> 00:32:51.910
verses. If you look at the name of the Lord,

00:32:52.069 --> 00:32:56.390
Yehovah, and the word chesed, which means loving

00:32:56.390 --> 00:33:02.829
kindness, it appears 246 times. Wow. He loves

00:33:02.829 --> 00:33:06.710
us. He loves us. He loves us deeply. And the

00:33:06.710 --> 00:33:10.970
word for tender mercies, racham, that appears

00:33:10.970 --> 00:33:15.930
32 times. And it's translated, racham, is that

00:33:15.930 --> 00:33:19.019
the right one? Oh, I see Raham plus the Lord

00:33:19.019 --> 00:33:24.160
or God. But there's 44 times it's translated

00:33:24.160 --> 00:33:29.140
as mercy or compassion or like your gut feeling.

00:33:29.460 --> 00:33:33.339
Okay. And Deuteronomy 7, 7 to 9 says, the Lord

00:33:33.339 --> 00:33:35.819
did not set his love upon you nor choose you

00:33:35.819 --> 00:33:38.660
because you were more in number than any people.

00:33:38.859 --> 00:33:42.000
For you were the fewest of all people, but because

00:33:42.000 --> 00:34:08.159
the Lord loved you. Do you realize a thousand

00:34:08.159 --> 00:34:11.659
generations is more than 40 ,000 years? Wow.

00:34:12.590 --> 00:34:14.929
And, you know, we've only been on the planet

00:34:14.929 --> 00:34:21.349
for about 6 ,000 years. So his love and his compassion

00:34:21.349 --> 00:34:25.369
goes for, well, pretty much forever. I mean,

00:34:25.389 --> 00:34:30.010
it's beyond time. Time is short. You know, this

00:34:30.010 --> 00:34:33.730
time is just up until the judgment of the devil

00:34:33.730 --> 00:34:36.110
and, you know, all of the fall of Lucifer and

00:34:36.110 --> 00:34:38.730
all that host of heaven that fell with him, the

00:34:38.730 --> 00:34:43.230
one third. But our Father has this love for us.

00:34:43.969 --> 00:34:48.789
And his most important commandment is, love Yehovah

00:34:48.789 --> 00:34:51.489
your God with all your heart, with all your soul,

00:34:51.570 --> 00:34:53.409
with all your mind, with all your strength. If

00:34:53.409 --> 00:34:56.050
you love him, you're not going to sin against

00:34:56.050 --> 00:34:59.269
him. And how do we keep from sinning against

00:34:59.269 --> 00:35:02.469
him? What does the Bible say? How do you keep

00:35:02.469 --> 00:35:08.389
from sinning against him? Psalm 119 and verse

00:35:08.389 --> 00:35:11.900
11 says, Your word have I hidden in my heart,

00:35:12.039 --> 00:35:14.539
that I might not sin against you. Yeah, that

00:35:14.539 --> 00:35:18.079
was going in my head before I even saw the scripture.

00:35:18.780 --> 00:35:21.400
And I like what it says in the Young's literal

00:35:21.400 --> 00:35:25.400
translation. In my heart I have hid thy saying,

00:35:25.619 --> 00:35:28.780
that I sin not before thee. What does it say

00:35:28.780 --> 00:35:33.039
in the Passion Translation? I consider your prophecies

00:35:33.039 --> 00:35:36.360
to be my greatest treasure, and I memorize them

00:35:36.360 --> 00:35:39.369
and write them on my heart. To keep me from committing

00:35:39.369 --> 00:35:43.409
sin's treason against you. Sin's treason. See,

00:35:43.570 --> 00:35:46.389
that's what it is. Treason, treason. It's treason

00:35:46.389 --> 00:35:50.409
against the Lord. Wow. And even in the Ten Commandments,

00:35:50.429 --> 00:35:56.429
the first one is, I am Yehovah your God. Have

00:35:56.429 --> 00:36:00.250
no other gods before me. Don't put anyone in

00:36:00.250 --> 00:36:02.389
front of me. Don't put anything in front of me.

00:36:02.469 --> 00:36:05.630
Don't make an idol and bow down to it. Yeah.

00:36:05.769 --> 00:36:11.059
I am your God. And I think we have really left

00:36:11.059 --> 00:36:14.780
that out of our teaching. I certainly didn't

00:36:14.780 --> 00:36:17.139
get it as a child. It was all about, you know,

00:36:17.159 --> 00:36:21.099
don't sin. But it was really more about what

00:36:21.099 --> 00:36:23.880
other people are going to think of you. Yeah.

00:36:24.500 --> 00:36:27.579
I mean, really. And that's the wrong reason.

00:36:28.380 --> 00:36:32.239
The Lord is looking for joyful obedience. Joyful

00:36:32.239 --> 00:36:34.820
obedience. He's looking for loving obedience.

00:36:35.460 --> 00:36:38.679
He's looking for, there's a scripture that talks

00:36:38.679 --> 00:36:41.559
about, because you didn't serve me with gladness,

00:36:41.619 --> 00:36:44.860
therefore. And that's where the curses begin.

00:36:45.340 --> 00:36:48.699
So the point here is, it's not about being sin

00:36:48.699 --> 00:36:50.900
conscious. Because I think we were raised to

00:36:50.900 --> 00:36:54.460
be sin conscious. We were raised to watch out

00:36:54.460 --> 00:36:57.449
for sin. This is sin, that's sin, this is sin,

00:36:57.550 --> 00:36:59.650
do this, don't do that. It was mostly don't do

00:36:59.650 --> 00:37:02.010
this, don't do that. Yeah, a lot of don'ts. Right.

00:37:02.329 --> 00:37:06.050
But not for the right reason. It's about our

00:37:06.050 --> 00:37:09.969
relationship with God. When we sin, we hide His

00:37:09.969 --> 00:37:14.010
presence from us. Take not your Holy Spirit from

00:37:14.010 --> 00:37:17.309
me, Lord. It's only against you that we sin.

00:37:17.530 --> 00:37:21.449
I would say it's primarily, it's first. First

00:37:21.449 --> 00:37:24.449
we sin against Him. And when we sin against Him,

00:37:24.780 --> 00:37:27.800
it gives the devil something to work with to

00:37:27.800 --> 00:37:32.019
bring blasphemy against God. Because he's really

00:37:32.019 --> 00:37:36.340
looking out to bring accusations against us,

00:37:36.400 --> 00:37:41.659
like is written in Revelation chapter 12, verses

00:37:41.659 --> 00:37:45.840
10 and 11. And I heard a loud voice saying in

00:37:45.840 --> 00:37:48.940
heaven, now is come salvation and strength and

00:37:48.940 --> 00:37:52.900
the kingdom of our God. This is after the accuser,

00:37:52.900 --> 00:37:55.849
the brethren, is cast down. okay verse 9 says

00:37:55.849 --> 00:37:58.969
the great dragon was cast out that old serpent

00:37:58.969 --> 00:38:01.670
called the devil and satan which deceives the

00:38:01.670 --> 00:38:03.989
whole world he was cast out into the earth and

00:38:03.989 --> 00:38:06.269
his angels were cast out with him and i heard

00:38:06.269 --> 00:38:08.809
a loud voice saying in heaven now is come salvation

00:38:08.809 --> 00:38:11.510
and strength and the kingdom of our god and the

00:38:11.510 --> 00:38:15.199
power of his christ or his messiah For the accuser

00:38:15.199 --> 00:38:18.119
of our brethren is cast down, which accused them

00:38:18.119 --> 00:38:21.099
before our God day and night. And, verse 11,

00:38:21.400 --> 00:38:25.539
they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and

00:38:25.539 --> 00:38:28.800
by the word of their testimony, and they loved

00:38:28.800 --> 00:38:32.940
not their lives unto the death. And that is really

00:38:32.940 --> 00:38:37.099
our answer, like when we do fall into sin. In

00:38:37.099 --> 00:38:40.639
1 John 4, 7 -9, it says, if we walk in the light,

00:38:40.760 --> 00:38:44.000
as he is in the light, We have fellowship one

00:38:44.000 --> 00:38:46.980
with another and the blood of Jesus Christ, his

00:38:46.980 --> 00:38:50.559
son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say that

00:38:50.559 --> 00:38:52.500
we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the

00:38:52.500 --> 00:38:55.840
truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he

00:38:55.840 --> 00:39:00.039
is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and

00:39:00.039 --> 00:39:05.280
to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Hallelujah.

00:39:05.900 --> 00:39:09.840
So if we can just recognize that when we sin,

00:39:09.980 --> 00:39:14.019
we're sinning against our father. We're hurting

00:39:14.019 --> 00:39:17.239
him. Just like as a parent, you hurt when your

00:39:17.239 --> 00:39:20.239
child sins against you. When your child disobeys,

00:39:20.260 --> 00:39:22.920
you know, when daddy comes with the paddle and

00:39:22.920 --> 00:39:24.539
says, this is hurting me more than it's hurting

00:39:24.539 --> 00:39:27.500
you, kid says, no, I don't believe that. But

00:39:27.500 --> 00:39:30.800
until you become a father, you don't get it.

00:39:31.099 --> 00:39:33.519
But when you become a father, you realize how

00:39:33.519 --> 00:39:36.539
much it hurts to have to hurt your child. But

00:39:36.539 --> 00:39:40.840
if you don't correct your child, it's going to

00:39:40.840 --> 00:39:43.989
be worse. If you love him, you won't spare the

00:39:43.989 --> 00:39:48.489
rod, whatever form that takes. But our Father

00:39:48.489 --> 00:39:53.329
is waiting for us to come back. So if you find

00:39:53.329 --> 00:39:55.829
that you are in one of those places where you

00:39:55.829 --> 00:40:00.769
have blundered, where you have willfully done

00:40:00.769 --> 00:40:02.969
something you shouldn't have done, and you haven't

00:40:02.969 --> 00:40:06.010
repented of it, now's a good time. Now's a good

00:40:06.010 --> 00:40:09.400
time to ask God to forgive you. and to cleanse

00:40:09.400 --> 00:40:12.599
you from all unrighteousness that's what the

00:40:12.599 --> 00:40:15.820
blood of jesus does and that's how we overcome

00:40:15.820 --> 00:40:19.860
we overcome that accuser once he's blotted our

00:40:19.860 --> 00:40:22.300
sin out the accuser has nothing to work with

00:40:22.300 --> 00:40:26.500
our slate has been cleaned And that's the beauty

00:40:26.500 --> 00:40:29.639
of this relationship with our Father. He wants

00:40:29.639 --> 00:40:33.559
to gather us up into His arms. He wants to keep

00:40:33.559 --> 00:40:36.780
us close to His heart. He wants us to be able

00:40:36.780 --> 00:40:39.659
to hear His very heartbeat of how much He loves

00:40:39.659 --> 00:40:44.559
us. We don't hardly get it. No. Hardly. This

00:40:44.559 --> 00:40:48.300
week we, you know, how YouTube offers you...

00:40:48.489 --> 00:40:50.969
things that you can click on, right? Well, I

00:40:50.969 --> 00:40:53.110
clicked on one of those and I'm not sorry I did.

00:40:53.389 --> 00:40:56.150
I don't spend a lot of time doing that, but once

00:40:56.150 --> 00:40:59.829
in a while. And what I ran across was, and we'll

00:40:59.829 --> 00:41:01.590
put it in the show notes because it was life

00:41:01.590 --> 00:41:04.610
-changing for me. We've interviewed Dean Braxton

00:41:04.610 --> 00:41:08.250
and we love the experience that he had in heaven.

00:41:08.429 --> 00:41:10.949
Well, this is a young man that had a similar

00:41:10.949 --> 00:41:14.869
experience of going to heaven. And the way he

00:41:14.869 --> 00:41:17.690
describes it agrees so much with what Dean says.

00:41:18.429 --> 00:41:21.409
But what he said was that when he got to heaven

00:41:21.409 --> 00:41:24.530
and he's standing before Jesus, every part of

00:41:24.530 --> 00:41:28.349
Jesus was loving him. He said even his nose hairs

00:41:28.349 --> 00:41:32.070
would have been loving him. And this is a little

00:41:32.070 --> 00:41:34.969
chorus for me, but he said if he had boogers,

00:41:35.050 --> 00:41:37.190
I didn't see that he had boogers, but if he had

00:41:37.190 --> 00:41:39.510
boogers, his boogers would have been loving me.

00:41:39.590 --> 00:41:42.650
I mean, he was that complete in his love for

00:41:42.650 --> 00:41:46.210
this young man. And Dean didn't put it that way.

00:41:46.909 --> 00:41:49.590
Everybody has their own way to put it. And this

00:41:49.590 --> 00:41:51.989
interview was with Randy Kay. Now, Randy Kay

00:41:51.989 --> 00:41:54.130
also went to heaven. He had a death experience

00:41:54.130 --> 00:41:58.389
and went to heaven and met Jesus. And so Randy

00:41:58.389 --> 00:42:02.909
is interviewing Gabe Poirot. And then Gabe Poirot

00:42:02.909 --> 00:42:05.989
interviewed Randy on his YouTube channel. So

00:42:05.989 --> 00:42:08.510
I'll put the links to both of those. Because

00:42:08.510 --> 00:42:12.650
if you want to get... a better handle on how

00:42:12.650 --> 00:42:15.750
much our Father loves us. I strongly suggest

00:42:15.750 --> 00:42:17.869
that you listen to these because I think it'll

00:42:17.869 --> 00:42:20.409
be life -changing for you like it was for me.

00:42:20.449 --> 00:42:22.329
You just have to be reminded once in a while

00:42:22.329 --> 00:42:25.590
about how much He loves you and just get lost

00:42:25.590 --> 00:42:28.530
in His love. If you get lost in His love, you're

00:42:28.530 --> 00:42:31.230
not going to sin against Him. You're just not

00:42:31.230 --> 00:42:34.250
because you get lost in His love and it's going

00:42:34.250 --> 00:42:37.409
to cause you to love Him. And when you love Him,

00:42:37.530 --> 00:42:40.849
you're going to keep His commandments. Would

00:42:40.849 --> 00:42:43.190
you like to pray for our listeners, Philip? Yeah.

00:42:43.570 --> 00:42:45.969
Well, Father, we thank you for your great love.

00:42:46.110 --> 00:42:49.789
And Father, for your great mercy. And Lord, that

00:42:49.789 --> 00:42:52.610
you're always there. And that, Lord, you forgive

00:42:52.610 --> 00:42:55.989
us. But Lord, sometimes we have a hard time forgiving

00:42:55.989 --> 00:42:59.710
ourselves because of consequences and things

00:42:59.710 --> 00:43:02.550
that happen. But Holy Spirit, we thank you that

00:43:02.550 --> 00:43:05.949
you are so faithful, that you're there nudging.

00:43:06.110 --> 00:43:09.690
But the nudge sometimes... The temptation is

00:43:09.690 --> 00:43:12.750
there too. And sometimes we listen to the temptation

00:43:12.750 --> 00:43:15.230
more than we do the nudge of the Holy Spirit.

00:43:15.489 --> 00:43:17.889
And we end up doing something we shouldn't do.

00:43:18.349 --> 00:43:21.929
So we thank you, Lord, how much you really love

00:43:21.929 --> 00:43:24.849
us. Yes. And that you died for us, Lord. You

00:43:24.849 --> 00:43:28.579
shed your blood for us, Lord. Picture you, the

00:43:28.579 --> 00:43:31.599
price that you paid, that, Father, that we can

00:43:31.599 --> 00:43:35.179
be free and stay free, Lord. Yes. So we thank

00:43:35.179 --> 00:43:37.280
you, Father, that Holy Spirit that you continue

00:43:37.280 --> 00:43:40.039
just to quicken us. And, Lord, that we would

00:43:40.039 --> 00:43:42.539
just be filled, just stay filled. And the more

00:43:42.539 --> 00:43:46.809
we stay filled, the less temptation. that we'll

00:43:46.809 --> 00:43:49.030
be able to get through to us. The more we keep

00:43:49.030 --> 00:43:52.349
our eyes on you, the more that temptation will

00:43:52.349 --> 00:43:54.710
bounce off of us. Yes, and the more we study

00:43:54.710 --> 00:43:57.969
your word and hide it in our hearts, the better

00:43:57.969 --> 00:44:00.829
chance we have of not sinning. Yes. Thank you,

00:44:00.829 --> 00:44:10.050
Father. In your name, Lord Jesus. Amen. If you
