Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Matthew 1:1 which says "The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham."

"This is critical information because the people of the time would have known scripture, they would have known what was written in the old estimate and they would have known of the messianic promise God made with David:

12 When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

2 Samuel 7:12-13

Jesus being the Son of David solidifies that He was the Messiah. That is so powerful. He is our Christ. He is the one we praise when things go our way, and when they don’t. He is the one we lean on, in sickness and in health. In the valley and on the mountain top. He is the one who came down for us."
