> Curtis Jackson>Welcome, to the Living the Dream podcast with Curveball. if you believe you can achieve Chee Chee.

00:00:17.672 --> 00:00:28.262
> Curtis Jackson>Welcome to the living the Dream with Curveball podcast, a show where I interview guests that teach, motivate and inspire.

00:00:28.801 --> 00:00:39.021
> Curtis Jackson>Today I am joined by award winning holistic health expert, author and international speaker, Candice Thomas.

00:00:39.881 --> 00:01:01.601
> Curtis Jackson>She has a lot of experience in holistic health and she focuses on understanding the higher conscience and vitality. So we're going to be talking to her about everything that she's up to and, you know, why she does what she does and how she helps people. So Candace, thank you so much for joining me today.

00:01:02.101 --> 00:01:04.322
> Tara May>Thank you very much for having me.

00:01:04.822 --> 00:01:08.242
> Curtis Jackson>Why don't you start off by telling everybody a little bit about yourself?

00:01:09.941 --> 00:01:31.358
> Tara May>Okay, well, I'm a holistic health practitioner. My background is as an acupuncturist and also something called an Enneagram teacher. The enneagram is a personality typing system. and I've had all of my patients take the personality type quiz at the first appointment.

00:01:31.549 --> 00:02:15.532
> Tara May>And now it's been over ten years of observing if there are health patterns by personality type, and there certainly are. And then a few years ago, I also added in something called quantum hypnosis, which is a form of past life regression hypnosis. And I use all of these different modalities to create, customized health care for you. I think of the enneagram, that personality type stuff is the mind and acupuncture is the body and the hypnosis is the spirit. And so I'm trying to give very, ah, holistic treatments and care for everyone.

00:02:18.032 --> 00:02:32.331
> Curtis Jackson>Okay, well, I know that you mentioned the personality type, so we'll jump into that in just a second. But for those who don't know, explain to them what a holistic health professional is.

00:02:33.912 --> 00:03:12.181
> Tara May>So holistic health is trying to reach the entire person, mind, body and spirit. normally our western medicine approach seems to be just body only. And it doesn't look at our emotions, our stress, or our unhappiness or sense of purpose. And those are also enormous factors in health. So pursuing, a holistic approach to your health is working with people and modalities that access all of you, not just some of you.

00:03:15.162 --> 00:03:24.622
> Curtis Jackson>Okay, well, let's talk about personality types. Why do you feel like it's important for a person to know their personality type?

00:03:26.042 --> 00:04:46.021
> Tara May>I think it's actually crucial to know your personality type. I think most of us, if we've heard of personality type at all, it's sort of the equivalent of, you know, what Disney princess are you? Or what kind of dog are you? You know, something fun and cutesy, but it's actually way deeper than that. Your personality type, there are nine according to the system that I use. This is something that you are born with, and it is basically, it includes your ego template. So these personality types actually include our survival programming. our most basic primal aspects of our that are only concerned with survival, and that is actually the default for us all, is that is sort of informing our beliefs, what we think about the choices we make, the things that upset us. All of that is part of the personality type, and it's sort of running your life for you without you realizing it. And what I've discovered is that when you're not aware of it and it's sort of running on its own, it's taking you down a destructive path in your health, in your relationships, in your career, in your money.

00:04:46.322 --> 00:05:34.422
> Tara May>All of these aspects are, if we're really existing from a scarcity and survival belief system, then we're making more primal choices instead of more elevated choices. So once you know this about yourself and you're shown how your personality type has actually been skewing your understanding of how the world works, you're able to shift it, and that opens you up to many more possibilities, and it also opens you up to much more happiness, because now you're making choices based on what you would love instead of what you're hoping to avoid or what you're afraid of. When you're choosing your life from a sense of power, you would make totally different choices, one that fulfill you and uplift you much more.

00:05:36.641 --> 00:05:43.338
> Curtis Jackson>And you also say that the personality has two halves. Can you kind of, let us know what you mean by that?

00:05:43.966 --> 00:07:06.990
> Tara May>sure. Yeah. So I do see that there's sort of two aspects to the personality type. And as I was mentioning, there's that ego template. I would call that the shadow side of the personality type. I've named that your primal Persona. So that's sort of your most limited, brutal version of yourself is that primal Persona. However, when you can connect to your heart, when you can go with feelings and intuition more than just logic, this is opening you up to your higher self. Your higher self exists in a state of love and light and safety and happiness and really doesn't share all of our little, fears and concerns. And so when you are able to access this higher aspect of yourself, then you're able to use the genius that's built into your personality type. Every personality type has, specific talents, skills, assets, sensibilities that most everybody else does not have. And this is really your genius. This is your power. This is your purpose. Why you came here was to be that elevated, special kind of person.

00:07:07.149 --> 00:07:19.069
> Tara May>So gaining some mastery over that primal Persona helps you step into the high side of your personality type, which I call your vitality personality.

00:07:21.889 --> 00:07:28.910
> Curtis Jackson>Well, what's the best way that a person can figure out which type personality they are?

00:07:29.810 --> 00:07:39.189
> Tara May>So if you go to the website yourvitalitypersonality.com, i've got a free online quiz for you there that will help you discover your type.

00:07:42.500 --> 00:07:50.480
> Curtis Jackson>Well, let's say I went on there and I identified my personality. Well, what's next for me after I do that?

00:07:51.379 --> 00:08:00.115
> Tara May>So there's a description there about your type. And then if you want to delve further into it, there's a few different things.

00:08:00.187 --> 00:08:05.139
> Tara May>There's book your vitality personality, which is coming out next week.

00:08:05.300 --> 00:08:35.150
> Tara May>And there are, you could work a one to one session with me. If you've got some specific issues going on in your life that you would like assistance in making sense of, we could work one to one. And also I have a, membership where we do some deep diving every week into personality types. How to access the greatness, how to manage the stress, how to notice those sabotaging aspects. We do a lot of inner work in the membership.

00:08:37.730 --> 00:08:45.990
> Curtis Jackson>Okay, so tell us about your book, you know, to tell us where we can get it from and what people can expect to find when they read it.

00:08:47.051 --> 00:08:58.321
> Tara May>So, it will be available everywhere, Amazon and where all books are sold. and certainly you can access it through the website also yourvitalitypersonality.com.

00:08:58.731 --> 00:09:09.511
> Tara May>and so there's an introductory chapter, sort of explaining the basics of what we just discussed. There's an ego side, there's a higher consciousness side.

00:09:09.812 --> 00:10:43.932
> Tara May>One builds you up, the other one breaks you down. And then I go, each chapter is about a type, and we. I've created something called a mandala. This is a graphic that quickly outlines the basics that you need to know about the type. And so there are specific fields inside this graphic, something like your survival belief, your compulsion, your sabotage pattern. Each of these are spelled out in the shadow side of the personality type on the medalla. And then the high side are the shifts that you would make to align yourself with your higher self. So it's specific guidance on what to change and how to change it. And then I delve in each chapter into each of those fields, talk about what that means, what to watch out for, and, tips to align yourself with the higher self. And then at the end, I offer something called the real you methods. And this is perhaps what I'm most excited to share with people is there are specific techniques that most people are not aware of for self healing, for quieting down that monkey mind that's chattering at you, for healing old traumas, old pains that are holding you back. Basically, I'm providing a set of methods and techniques that will really quickly help you empower yourself.

00:10:46.892 --> 00:10:57.994
> Curtis Jackson>All, right, well, you also talk about different kinds of exercises that you recommend, you know, like journaling. So kind of talk about those and why you recommend them.

00:10:59.254 --> 00:11:12.024
> Tara May>Yeah. So each of the personality types have their own special roadblocks. Their own hardwiring leads them to have limitations in the certain areas.

00:11:12.364 --> 00:11:50.933
> Tara May>And so I like to highlight exercises specific to each type that help them get at those problem areas. So I might suggest journaling for some of the personality types who are less inclined to connect with themselves or to take quiet time, quality time with themselves. This has some prompts to help you explore yourself more. I have a method for the personality types that struggle the most with anxiety. I have exercises that teach them how to stabilize themselves when they're in the middle of anxiety.

00:11:51.234 --> 00:12:00.094
> Tara May>So, different techniques for different types, depending on how they're wired and what guidance they specifically would require.

00:12:01.793 --> 00:12:11.350
> Curtis Jackson>Well, in your, experience, we're working with different types of people. Do you see trends when it comes to different personalities as far as happiness and well being?

00:12:12.970 --> 00:12:15.350
> Tara May>I really do. That's such a good question.

00:12:16.330 --> 00:12:29.432
> Tara May>So, yes, we could divide the types up into thirds. There's the assertive groups, there's the withdrawn types, and there's the dutiful, types.

00:12:29.576 --> 00:12:37.933
> Tara May>And so the assertive types of tend to be more assertive about setting up the life the way they want it. Right?

00:12:37.981 --> 00:12:51.957
> Tara May>So they're looking for a win win scenario for themselves. So they are probably more inclined to be happy than some of the other types. The withdrawn types are more of those introverts.

00:12:52.014 --> 00:13:20.419
> Tara May>They spend a lot of time in their mind, and they perceive themselves as having low energy. And because they feel like they don't want to deal with stressful stuff or drama, they tend to give in and let somebody else have the voice, make the choices, and that's going to lead you away from your own happiness. If you're letting somebody else make your decisions for you, they're probably choosing for their happiness, not your happiness.

00:13:21.360 --> 00:14:11.029
> Tara May>And then there are the dutiful types. And the dutiful types feel a really deep sense of obligation to their responsibilities. They believe in certain serving community, and so they have the most sense of a pressure on themselves to meet the expectations of others, to meet the expectations of society, to fit in, to be more conventional. And again, this is leading them away from their own happiness. They're letting society tell them how they should live instead of choosing for how they would be happiest living. And I find a the dutiful group to be, in general, the unhappiest and the unhealthiest, because your happiness equals your health.

00:14:13.570 --> 00:14:19.830
> Curtis Jackson>Well, how do you feel like someone's personality can impact their love relationships?

00:14:21.490 --> 00:14:40.077
> Tara May>They do greatly impact our love relationships. So, basically, before you know that there are personality types, we just all assume that the way we believe is normal is like, that's. Doesn't everybody know that you're supposed to live in service and that you're supposed to put other needs first?

00:14:40.214 --> 00:15:39.234
> Tara May>Well, no, not every personality type would agree with that. So right away, learning about personality types shows you that my way is not the only way. And if I'm trying to always force my beliefs onto my partner, there's gonna be friction because they don't have the same worldview as me. So just releasing that expectation that other people should be just like you can harmonize things quite a bit. And then also, I would say that that primal Persona aspect of all nine personality types, it actually leads us towards what's called conditional love instead of unconditional love. Unconditional love is no matter good, bad, or ugly, no matter what life choices you've made, I still can love you because I can see your value and your worth. And I'm willing to accept that you're on a journey and whatever limitations you have are because of where you came from.

00:15:39.282 --> 00:16:13.070
> Tara May>And I can accept that about you. But most of us are actually wired towards conditional love, which means I only love you if you behave the way I think you should be behaving. And I don't approve of you. I fall out of love with you as soon as I see that you're not doing it the way I want you to be doing it. And so that is probably the primary source of conflict between relationships, is that we, none of us, really know how to offer unconditional love. And that is something that I help to teach in my book.

00:16:15.809 --> 00:16:29.549
> Curtis Jackson>Okay, well, do you feel like parents need to know their personality as well as their children? And this is a two part question. Do you see varieties when it comes to family situations and personalities?

00:16:30.480 --> 00:17:48.720
> Tara May>absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. Step one, as the parent, you should know your personality type. Because it will help you understand what triggers you, what conditional, love you're holding so that you can be more adaptable because your child is most likely not the same type as you, and so you're parenting towards what you would have needed as a kid. But maybe that's not at all what your child would have needed. So it's not as easy to type child because really, we should type ourselves. So when you're observing somebody else, you're more guessing at what their inner motivations are. But I would say as far as child rearing goes, guessing is better than nothing. You can at least try to start understanding what they might be wanting from you, which is different than what might come naturally for you to offer. So knowing about your type, youre strengths and your limitations, and knowing about your child's type, their needs, and what would support them for thriving the best. This really helps you tailor your parenting style for each of your children so that they can be their most stable and they can feel that they grew up with love and acceptance in the home.

00:17:48.859 --> 00:17:48.880
> Tara May>M.

00:17:51.059 --> 00:18:06.730
> Curtis Jackson>What do you feel like? You know, people are subjected to unconscious programming and, you know, how can they get past that unconscious program and how does it affect them as far as personality?

00:18:07.750 --> 00:19:01.029
> Tara May>Well, exactly what you're mentioning, it's unconscious. That's the whole problem, is that we're not aware of a lot of the stuff that we're doing, and it's usually sabotaging in nature. So just by shedding some light on it, just by looking at it, really helps, release a good percentage of it. As soon as you see, oh, I've been doing it this way, and that's not, why would I do it like that? As soon as you see it, you feel like you can change it. That's a huge benefit to you. I would say probably 50%. Your unconscious stuff related to your personality type you can fix right away. As soon as you realize it's there, you can start doing it differently. And then, ah, there are a few, a few things built into that personality type that you'll probably be having to keep an eye on for the rest of your life. Like that. It's really your go to stress behavior.

00:19:01.329 --> 00:19:24.420
> Tara May>And, we probably all know that we have some stress behavior that we shouldn't keep doing. It's really not worked out in our favor. And so that's the stuff that, takes extra effort to gain mastery over. But really, every degree of progress that you make, you feel as a huge leap in your quality of life and your sense of happiness and fulfillment.

00:19:27.000 --> 00:19:32.579
> Curtis Jackson>Tell us about any current or upcoming projects that you're working on that people need to be aware of.

00:19:33.480 --> 00:19:39.061
> Tara May>Oh, thank you. Well, I would say the release of the book is, the big upcoming thing.

00:19:39.246 --> 00:19:45.086
> Tara May>And, we'll be launching, quite a bit of new content on, our YouTube channel.

00:19:45.226 --> 00:19:57.256
> Tara May>If you'd like to check me out there at your vitality personality on YouTube. but please check out the book on Amazon well, so people can keep.

> Tara May>Great. the best way to find me is@yourvitalitypersonality.com.

00:20:09.915 --> 00:20:17.516
> Curtis Jackson>Okay, close us out with some final thoughts. Maybe if that was something I forgot to talk about that you would like to touch on, or any final thoughts you have for the listeners.

00:20:17.976 --> 00:20:48.809
> Tara May>Oh, thank you. the main thing that I would like to communicate is that it's actually your degree of happiness. All those negative thoughts, those hard feelings, all of the tough emotions that we re experience. Kind of like a loop, like we keep living in that same story over and over. That is our primary reason that our health and happiness erodes. And that is largely due to that programming, of the personality type.

00:20:48.938 --> 00:21:34.163
> Tara May>So gaining mastery over the programming of the personality type allows you to be a much more positive person. It allows you to have more uplifting thoughts, and those thoughts become uplifting feelings in the body. And it's really our, feelings that translate into our health, what our body is experiencing through the chemicals that our emotions create. So the more that you can focus on knowing about yourself and creating a life that really serves you and really makes you happy is your best avenue for health and happiness and a successful career and successful relationships. It sort of fixes everything at the same time.
