> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Welcome to the Living the Dream with Curveball podcast, a show where I interview guests that teach, motivate and inspire. Today we're going to be talking love and relationships as I am joined by Anil Gupta, internationally known as the Love Doctor. What Anil does is he helps singles, families and couples get through issues and struggles in their relationships with proven methods to help them live a life full of love.

00:00:47.420 --> 00:00:56.859
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>He's helped people in 18 countries, so we're going to be talking to him about his methods and why he does what he does. So Anil, thank you so much for joining me.

00:00:58.520 --> 00:01:06.700
> Anil Gupta>Thank you for having me on the show, Curtis. I'm so delighted to give your, audience practical tools that will change their lives.

00:01:07.340 --> 00:01:10.299
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Why don't you start off by telling everybody a little bit about yourself.

00:01:11.810 --> 00:02:06.670
> Anil Gupta>people started calling me the Love Doctor. I loved it, so I stole it. And I've spoken in 18 countries, four continents, in eight languages have been translated. I've, ah, written three bestseller books, TedX, Fox News, Sky TV, ABC, NBC, Harvard, stages over 10,000 people. I've coached celebrities, millionaires, billionaires, people like Mike Tyson, who gave me a wonderful testimonial. I've been on stages with Richard Branson, Tenny Robbins, Marcus Lemanis, Damon Jones, Sharon Letter, Les Brown. And I was suicidal in 2008. And I realized that I'm here for a different reason. I'm here to serve, people. I'm here to save people. So that's what I started to doing. I help people overcome the struggles that they have in their relationships so that they can have a lot more love in their lives and lead a richer, fuller, happier life.

00:02:08.590 --> 00:02:15.389
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Well, speaking of relationships, why do you feel like relationships have such a poor success rate?

00:02:16.590 --> 00:03:40.340
> Anil Gupta>Well, most people have maybe five or six relationships before they get married. Every single one has failed. Every single one. Then they get married, they don't know if this is going to work out because they don't have a formula, they don't have a plan. It's just guesswork. And the reason relationships fail is this. People meet someone, they say yes to that relationship, until it doesn't work out, until it's a no. It could be three months, six months, three years, five year, 10 years, whatever it is. But the secret is you have to say no to anyone until you've collected enough data to make an informed choice. Then you meet up with them, then you go on dates. So, instead of a yes until a no. It's a no until a yes. This way, it's just like when you're buying a house. If you're buying a house, you would do your due diligence. You would check the mortgage, the appraisal, the location, the neighborhood, the, inspection, valuation, all of that stuff. And then you would make an informed choice whether to buy it or not. You wouldn't just look at it and buy it. Of course not. But that's what they do in relationships. People spend more time even choosing a restaurant, buying a car, buying a house, buying a business than they do on their relationships. And that's the reason relationships fail.

00:03:43.550 --> 00:03:54.770
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Well, for, those out there looking for a better relationship with their spouse, to improve their relationships, give us some best practice tips on doing that.

00:03:55.810 --> 00:04:35.279
> Anil Gupta>So if you're in a relationship, men, you have to know what women want. Women, you have to know what men want. So men want to be respected. Women want to be loved. So, ladies, if you can make your man feel respected, he'll do anything for you. Gents, if you make your partner feel loved, she'll do anything for you. So the best way to do this is really ask your partner. It's that simple. But it's not easy. You ask your partner, what can I do to make you feel more loved? What can I do to make you feel even more respected? Let them answer and then ask them, what else can I do? What else can I do? What else can I do? And just do those things.

00:04:35.839 --> 00:05:01.569
> Anil Gupta>So women want to be heard. They want to be listened to. They want to feel understood. They don't want to be criticized. They don't want to be fixed. They want you to be present. And they may like words of affirmation or gifts. Men want edification. They. They want you to be present.

00:05:01.649 --> 00:05:01.910
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>They want.

00:05:01.980 --> 00:05:10.300
> Anil Gupta>They, they, they. They want to be praised. They want to be thanked. They. They love touch on the shoulder. Good job. I'm proud of you. Well done.

00:05:10.540 --> 00:06:06.939
> Anil Gupta>They like you to say respectful things that they really will do anything for you if they feel respected. And it's easy. Well, it's simple, but it's not easy. When I was suicidal in 2008, I had to tell my wife I'd lost everything in the stock market. And she looked up at me and said, I knew something was wrong. I thought it was something serious. I said, what are you talking about? This is serious. She said, no, honey, I thought you had cancer. I thought you were dying. You see, Curtis, I didn't ask her what she wanted. I thought that's what she wanted. If I'd have had the knowledge that I'm sharing now. Just ask your partner, what is it you want? They may say, I would love to go on a morning walk with you. Wow, really? Yeah. If it's important to them, it's important to you. Ask them what would make the difference? That makes a difference.

00:06:10.620 --> 00:06:22.220
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Well, let's talk about those who might right now be having trouble marriage or their marriage is in trouble. Give some best practice tips on what they can do to try to help save their marriage.

00:06:23.750 --> 00:06:35.990
> Anil Gupta>So obviously ask this question, but then go back when you were dating, what is it you used to do when you were dating that you're not doing now?

00:06:36.949 --> 00:06:45.189
> Anil Gupta>Are you not opening the door for her? Are you not giving her flowers? Are you not giving her attention? Are you not taking her out to dinner?

00:06:45.350 --> 00:07:18.569
> Anil Gupta>Are you not making time for her? Are you not being present with her? Look at the things that you've stopped doing. And ladies, what did you used to do for your man that you stopped doing? Spend time with your partner. Give them the attention. Make them feel special. You know, there's so many distractions around. Kids, work, business, whatever it is, but make the time. And it could be just five minute walk. I remember this morning, my wife and I went for a walk. It was a magical walk.

00:07:19.050 --> 00:07:32.009
> Anil Gupta>We sat in the sun, get some vitamin D. We were walking around, we saw a heron and we both just stood and watched it. In that moment, life was so beautiful. It's the small things that become the big things.

00:07:36.730 --> 00:07:48.040
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Well, let's talk about people who have kids that, you know, they feel like their kids feel entitled and enabled. You know, why is that and how can they fix it?

00:07:49.639 --> 00:09:20.919
> Anil Gupta>It's a big problem now, Curtis. A lot of kids, are entitled and enabled. And it all stems from the fact that in my generation, I'm 65, I've been through a lot of adversity. So, you know, a lot of pain, a lot of suffering, a lot of things to overcome. And a lot of, parents don't want their kids to go through adversity. So what they do, they make life easy for them. But the thing is this, when you do that, we're not teaching them how to handle whatever life throws at us. So then they get upset. They don't know how to handle situations, they don't know how to handle conflicts. So the greatest gift you can give your kids is this. Give them the ability to handle life by throwing adversity at them that they can reasonably handle. So when my kids were Very young. We took them into central London and told them to get home by themselves. Now, we had taught them how to use the train system, the tube system, the metro system, the underground system, and we taught them emergency measures, who to talk to, what to say to them, how to be safe. But we were 15ft behind them. We could only be contacted in an emergency. When they were 18, they both went around the world by themselves. So we taught them adversity so they knew how to handle it. And that's what we need for our children. Make life difficult for them, but not too difficult so that they can grow. Adversity is your friend.

00:09:21.639 --> 00:09:26.980
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>What advice would you give someone who wants to experience more happiness in their life?

00:09:28.580 --> 00:10:14.460
> Anil Gupta>Well, there is a formula. There is a formula for living a fulfilled life, and it's this. Happiness is equal to G. G. G. The first G is you have to give your time, your energy, your love, your commitment, your joy, your gift, your money, but without wanting anything. Return. When you give, you receive endorphins so you feel good. The person receiving the gift receives endorphins, so they feel good. The person observing the gift feels good, and they receive endorphins. When they share, they feel good. The person receiving the share feels good. The person observing the, sharing, feels good too. So it goes on a long way.

00:10:15.019 --> 00:11:20.840
> Anil Gupta>So the first G is to give. The second G is to be grateful for what you have. When I was suicidal in 2008, my wife said to me, honey, you haven't lost everything. You still have me. You still have the kids. And I thought, oh, my God. I completely neglected that. So focus on what you have. Look at your hands. When was the last time you thanked them? Your heart, your eyes, your teeth, your hair, your brain, Everything. There's so much to be grateful for. And the third is you have to grow emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally, and financially. So if you read a book a week, that would make you grow. If you, developed a new habit once a month, that's 12 habits a month. 60 habits in five years, that will make you grow, too. Go to some seminars, get. Get a mentor, get a coach. That will make you grow. So G times G times G. It's a game changer. if you start giving, growing, and being grateful, everything starts to change for you.

00:11:22.519 --> 00:11:29.720
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Well, you know, it's a real stressful time in our world today. So what advice would you give someone who's feeling unworthy right now?

00:11:31.639 --> 00:11:44.450
> Anil Gupta>That's a really great question. So, it's a big problem. people who are Suicidal, really don't feel worthy. So if I gave you a hundred dollar note, Curtis, I'd ask you, how much is it worth?

00:11:44.450 --> 00:11:54.940
> Anil Gupta>You would tell me it's a hundred dollars. But if I said to the note, you're not good enough, you're not stupid, you're stupid. you're a failure, you'll never succeed. People don't like you.

00:11:54.940 --> 00:12:00.340
> Anil Gupta>You're not worthy. How much is it worth? It's still worth $100. So this is what I tell people.

00:12:00.340 --> 00:12:09.710
> Anil Gupta>No matter what anyone says about you, to you, your value never changes. You always retain your value.

00:12:09.870 --> 00:12:40.659
> Anil Gupta>Now how much is that $100 note worth? Actually, it's quite priceless because I can give you the$100 for $100 worth of service, you can take it somewhere else and get another $100 worth of value. That same hundred dollars will go somewhere else to give another hundred dollars worth of value. So wherever it goes, it brings immense value. And this is the same for you, the audience, the listener. Wherever you go, you bring value.

00:12:42.340 --> 00:12:50.389
> Anil Gupta>Never ever forget that you are, valuable to so many people in so many ways. That's the way to feel worthy.

00:12:54.309 --> 00:13:00.120
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Tell us about any current or upcoming projects that you're working on that listeners need to be aware of.

00:13:01.320 --> 00:13:07.320
> Anil Gupta>I'm working on my next book. It's called the Heart Map for Love, which is a manual on human behavior.

00:13:08.029 --> 00:13:33.559
> Anil Gupta>working on creating a, online program, the Smart select system, how to find your ideal partner. And I think it'll be a five week course. I'm still working on that. And my mission is to reach a billion people by 12-26-26. So I just want to get the message out there that there's a better way, an easier way, a practical way to lead a rich and fuller, happier life.

00:13:36.360 --> 00:13:48.690
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Well, speaking of those books, tell, us about the books that you book or books that you have before the one that you're currently working on. You know, let listeners know what they can expect when they read it and where to get it.

00:13:49.649 --> 00:14:09.639
> Anil Gupta>It's, it's, they're all available on Amazon. The first one is called Immediate Happiness, which is a manual on human behavior. The second one is the Heart map for health. The third one is a heart map for vitality. and they're all practical guides to, to, to add more years to your life and more life to your years.

00:14:13.409 --> 00:14:18.129
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>Well, so everybody can keep up with everything that you're up to. Throw out your contact info.

00:14:18.929 --> 00:14:41.500
> Anil Gupta>So the best way to, know what I'm doing and, and get some free resources that's on my website, meetanil.com and I'm sure that you'll put in the show notes how to get me on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube. there'll be a lot of resources there. And if you need to schedule, a time with me, there's a way to do so.

00:14:42.299 --> 00:14:45.299
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>So if they go to your website or all your social media links on.

00:14:45.299 --> 00:14:48.059
> Anil Gupta>There, they should be. Yes, perfect.

00:14:48.940 --> 00:14:55.980
> Curtis Jackson (also known as DJ Curveball)>So close us out with some final thoughts. Maybe if that was something I forgot to talk about that you would like to touch on or any final thoughts you have for the listeners.

00:14:56.379 --> 00:15:10.379
> Anil Gupta>So here's one piece of advice that will change your life. So when I was suicidal, when everything was going down, I started to serve and I did this one thing be so amazing. You cannot be ignored.

00:15:10.860 --> 00:15:21.740
> Anil Gupta>And if you're ignored, it doesn't matter, because how you show up will be this magnificent soul. Be the best version of you. Show up the very best version of you, and everything will change.
