Burlesque as a form of therapy - not sexually charged entertainment.

Burlesque as a form of therapy - not sexually charged entertainment.

Jen and guest Kellita Maloof explore conscious burlesque as a means of self-expression and healing, discussing its role in addressing consent, trauma, and the deeper artistry involved.

What if removing your clothing became an embodied means of shedding negative baggage and revealing more of your soul and essence? A burlesque solo is not merely a seductive dance performed for the gratification of the male gaze. Guest Kellita Maloof says, “In conscious burlesque an artist leaves the stage with her radiant essence more visible to herself and those lucky enough to witness her…” Jen and Kellita talk about consent, healing, trauma, and the artistry around all of it.

Our guest: KELLITA MALOOF is a Performing and Teaching Artist and Soulful Conscious Burlesque Mentor.  She works at the intersection where burlesque dance meets depth psychology meets attachment theory meets individuation meets autoimmune recovery meets spirituality.  For over 20 years, Kellita’s been helping kind, soulful, highly sensitive helpers who’ve been over-editing, over-managing and over-giving – and are attracted to dance theater and expressive arts performance – to trust and express themselves with confidence, presence and radiance. She integrates into her work Systemic Constellations, EFT, Transformational NLP and Interpersonal Neurobiology. Kellita’s mission is to support folks in dusting off the fountain of Self-Love that was hiding right in the center of their very own shimmy.
