Most people have an understanding of what's important to them. The people that are the most successful financially have a very clear understanding of that non-money related thing, like time.
The second thing they typically know where they stand when it comes to their assets and debts, or their net-worth.
The third is they invest in what they know and like. So they don't invest in stocks if they don't like to, or real estate if they have no interest. They have a primary focus and go really deep on that.
