Black Educator Wellness Facilitator | Producer & Host - The Exit Interview: A Podcast for Black Educators | Keynote Speaker
Dr. Asia Lyons, the founder and lead designer at Lyons Educational Consulting (LEC) LLC, is deeply committed to her mission of co-creating truly inclusive environments designed to empower Black educators and foster their self-actualization through wellness initiatives.
Dr. Lyons brings nearly 20 years of practical and academic knowledge to her work as a former K-12 educator in the Denver Metro Area and as an adjunct professor at the esteemed University of Colorado - Denver School of Education and Human Development. She earned her doctorate in Leadership for Educational Equity, with a concentration in Urban and Diverse Communities, where her dissertation research examined the profound impact of racism-related stress and racial battle fatigue on Black educators and their families.
As a consultant and speaker, she shares her research findings and approaches to help Black educators recover from racial battle fatigue and help institutions and organizations better support their Black educators to improve retention. She co-founded the Black Educator Wellness Cohort, where she co-facilitates free monthly wellness sessions in the Greater Denver Area. In addition, Lyons Educational Consulting offers virtual wellness webinars nationwide for Educators of Color. She has spoken to audiences at South by Southwest (SXSW) EDU, Harvard Graduate School of Education, the National Education Associations Conference on Racial and Social Justice and the National Board of Certified Counselors Symposium.
