Tonya Blazio-Licorish, MCS's, expertise lies at the intersection of history, culture, and creativity:

Tonya is an author, visual culture historian, archives editor, and educator whose work delves deep into the art of archival storytelling. Her unique approach combines looking beyond the lens while working within it, allowing her to strand meaning from documented histories without distortion. With over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, Tonya has mastered connecting the past with the present to sustain brand equity and tell compelling stories.

Her latest book, "Black in Fashion: 100 Years of Style, Influence, and Culture," written with WWD and Tara Donaldson, is a landmark celebration of Black creatives' contributions to the evolution of fashion. Released in September 2024, this book showcases over 375 stunning visuals and narratives highlighting trailblazing designers, models, and cultural icons who shaped the fashion industry.

As the Fairchild Fashion Museum curator, which debuted in 2022, and an educator at esteemed institutions such as the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons School of Design, and Montclair University, Tonya’s impact extends beyond her written and curated works. She inspires future generations through courses on fashion, cultural history, leadership, and merchandising.

From her roots in New Orleans to her home in Brooklyn, Tonya continues to explore fashion, culture, and society through an interdisciplinary lens.
