IDP Stock Market: Week 9

IDP Stock Market: Week 9

The bye weeks are in full swing and injuries are as well. It’s hard enough deciding who to play each week, and these things do not help. So this week I am giving you three IDP Stock Market transactions that you should make to improve your IDP portfolios.

Geno Stone, S, Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have had some injury issues in their secondary this year which has forced them to dive into their depth. They lost starter Marcus Williams earlier in the season and many thought the obvious next man up would be rookie Kyle Hamilton. That wasn’t the case, as third-year player Geno Stone (Iowa) stepped into that role next to Chuck Clark. Stone has played terrific with this opportunity given to him. He’s started the last three games and has played 100% of the defensive snaps in the last two games. In those three starts, Stone has recorded 20 total tackles, all of which are solos, and has at least six stops in each start. He has also added one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one PBU over that stretch of games. If you need help covering a bye week or just need to upgrade at the safety position, then Stone is an IDP stock that you should invest in.

Deshon Elliott, S, Lions

If you don’t like Stone as an option, then I have another safety that fantasy managers should look to add to their IDP portfolios. Safety Deshon Elliott of the Detroit Lions has been one of the hottest IDP stocks over the last three weeks and has some very nice matchups ahead. In the last three games, Elliott has registered 32 total tackles, 24 being solos, four TFLs, one interception, and one PBU. He has been playing closer to the box more than deep and that has led to the high tackle numbers. With that continued usage, his tackle output should stay at a high level. Elliott has become much more efficient this season as he’s lowered his missed tackle rate from 17.9% last year to an amazing 5.8% this year. Surprisingly he can still be found on the waiver wire in some leagues, so be sure to check your leagues.

Oren Burks, LB, 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have one of the best linebacking units in the NFL but injuries have unfortunately struck and caused them to use their depth. Starter Dre Greenlaw has missed time with a calf injury and will be out this week. In his absence, Oren Burks has stepped into the starting role. After five seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Burks has a fresh start and pace wise is having his best season to date. Clearly, when Greenlaw is ready to return, Burks's role will change but he still should play a lot as Azeez Al-Shair is out for the season. For now, Burks is a solid week-to-week option as an LB3 option. Last week versus the Los Angles Rams, he played 100% of the defensive snaps, while recording seven tackles, four being solos, one QB hit, and one PBU. Go check your waiver wires and add him to your IDP portfolios.
