IDP Stock Market: Week 4

IDP Stock Market: Week 4

This week I am giving you three IDP Stock Market transactions that you should make to improve your IDP portfolios. No matter if you're a risk taker or like to play it safe, I have something for everyone.

Jacob Phillips, ILB, Browns

The Cleveland Browns lost starting linebacker Anthony Walker to a torn Achilles he suffered versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was an unfortunate loss for Walker but a great opportunity for Jacob Phillips. After Walker left the game it was Phillips who got the shot to step in and he didn’t disappoint. Phillips played 46 snaps (78%) and recorded seven tackles, one TFL, one sack, and one PBU. He’ll get another opportunity this week in Atlanta versus the Flacons to show what he can do. With both Myles Garrett and Jadaveon Clowney possibly out as well, the Browns definitely need Phillips to lead the way. Phillips was started in 37% of MFL (My Fantasy league.com) leagues last week and that will go way up this week. If the craziness that the linebacker position has been this year has hit your team, then Phillips is a great IDP investment that you should be adding to your IDP portfolios.

Chris Rumph II, OLB, Chargers

It was a rough week for NFL Teams and fantasy managers with all of the injuries and the Chargers were not able to avoid it. They lost star pass rusher Joey Bosa to a significant groin injury. A huge blow to the Charger's pass rush but they have a youngster waiting in the wings who is ready to fly. That youngster is Chris Rumph II whom they drafted in the 4th round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The son of Chicago Bears linebacker coach, Chris Rumph, he gets the next opportunity to become a star. Last week, Rumph II played 43 snaps (57%) and I expect those numbers to increase going forward. He finished his career at Duke with 33 TFLs and 17½ sacks, so he knows how to get after quarterbacks. Rumph II is a great penny stock investment that has the potential to pay out a big return.

Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are another team that has had to deal with a number of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, so much so that they had to sign a veteran playmaker to help their pass rush. That playmaker is 13-year star Jason Pierre-Paul who is a 2X Super Bowl champ and brings with him 91½ career sacks. He dealt with a nagging shoulder injury last year so his numbers were down, but now he’s healthy and ready to roll. The Ravens have been without pass rusher Tyus Bowser and now Justin Houston is expected to be out this week versus the Buffalo Bills. They desperately need JPP to play some meaningful reps not just as a fill-in but to help their depth. If you need help at the defensive end position, especially in position-specific leagues, then Pierre-Paul is a low-cost option worth investing in.
