IDP Stock Market: Week 13
We start Week 13 this week, and the fantasy playoffs are almost here. By now, you should have a firm grasp on where your team(s) stand and what the biggest needs are. Even if you are not a contender, there is still a lot of work to be done. Each week, I will bring you my IDP Stock Market, which suggests which players you should start or invest in, and which ones you should sit out or liquidate. This week, I dug deeper into some stocks you should consider investing in for more advanced types of leagues. Regardless of the type of IDP format you use, I am here to guide you through the process. Let's dive right into some investments and three liquidations that can help your season get off to a strong start.
Investments
Devontte Wyatt, DT, Green Bay Packers
My first IDP Stock Market investment is for those of you who play in position-specific leagues. Green Bay Packers DT Devontte Wyatt has been heating up as of late and is helping fantasy managers win games down the stretch. After starting the season with just eight tackles in the first five games, he’s gotten hot with 15 tackles in the last four contests. That may not seem like a lot, but for defensive tackles, that 3.75 average per game is really good, especially considering DT premium scoring. Wyatt is on pace to have his best statistical season of his four-year career. He has 23 tackles, five TFLs, seven QB hits, and four sacks on the season, all of which are on pace to surpass his current best numbers. Since the Packers traded away longtime veteran Kenny Clark, it has been Wyatt who has stepped up and benefited the most.
Jarrien Jones, CB, Jacksonville Jaguars
If you are looking for a solid streaming option at the cornerback position, my next IDP Stock Market investment, Jarrian Jones, for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is someone you need to be looking at. Jones has been playing 70% or more of the defensive snaps the past four weeks, with 24 total tackles (6 per game), 14 solo stops, four TFLs, one interception, and four PBUs, over that stretch. In Week 13, he gets to face a poor Tennessee Titans team that has a who’s who at WR. His schedule for the rest of the season should also provide a lot of scoring opportunities for fantasy managers. A great starting option this week and possibly beyond.
Kevin Winston Jr, SAF, Tennessee Titans
My next IDP Stock Market investment is a great short and long-term option for your IDP portfolios. Tennessee Titans rookie safety Kevin Winston Jr missed the first four weeks of the season and has been brought along slowly upon his return, but the training wheels have come off the last two weeks. Winston has started the last three games for the Titans and has played 100% of the defensive snaps (118) in the last two games. Winston has 16 tackles (8 per game) in the last two games, including ten this past week against Seattle. That trend should continue as the Titans are one of the worst teams in the league and have very little depth. Winston will continue to get these opportunities as he plays down in the box as well. He’s a great dynasty option for your fantasy teams.
Turkey Day Investment
Thomas Harper, SAF, Detroit Lions
If you are like me and like to have a fantasy option playing on Turkey Day, and you're pressed for options, give SAF Thomas Harper for the Detroit Lions a look. He’s been playing in place of Kerby Joseph, who has been out with a bone bruise on his knee. Joseph didn’t play on Sunday, and with a short week for the Lions, it’s unlikely he plays this week. In his place, Turner has recorded 17 tackles (5.66 per game) in the last three starts and could be a sneaky Thanksgiving Day play versus the Green Bay Packers.
Liquidations
Kenneth Murray, LB, Dallas Cowboys
Here is a stock that, since the NFL's trade deadline, has seen his playing time take a drastic hit. Dallas Cowboys linebacker Kenneth Murray has seen his playing time drop in a big way despite being a starter. He has gone from playing 100% of the defensive snaps in eight of the first nine games to receiving around 52% in the past two weeks. With that reduced playing time, his production has taken a hit, as he’s recorded just five tackles in the last two games, after having averaged seven per game in the previous nine. The Cowboys traded for LB Logan Wilson and just got Demarvion Overshown back from injury, both of which, along with other options like Shemar James, have cut into Murray’s on-field time. The writing seems to be on the wall for Murray, and if that trend continues, it’s time to liquidate any shares of his from your IDP portfolios.
Ivan Pace Jr, LB, Minnesota Vikings
Another player who has seen his playing time take a hit is LB Ivan Pace Jr for the Minnesota Vikings. He has seen his playing time drop from over 75% down to less than 25% over the last six games. With that, his production has dropped as he hasn’t had more than four tackles in a game since Week 4. As a fantasy manager, that drop in production has to be upgraded. Pace isn’t even starting, and his special teams reps have increased, which further supports liquidating any shares of him you may have.
