IDP Hidden Gems: David Ojabo, EDGE, Ravens

IDP Hidden Gems: David Ojabo, EDGE, Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are known for finding value and nailing their draft almost every season, shout out  Ozzie Newsome  for setting the standard. I think they found a steal in 2022, which will make the 2023 season really intriguing!  David Ojabo  was a projected first-round pick going into the 2022 draft and he had just come off an 11-sack season in which he also forced five fumbles. However, an Achilles injury during Michigan’s Pro Day would put his rookie season in doubt along with his hopes of being a first-round selection. Baltimore saw enough in his one year of college production to take a chance and make Ojabo a second-round pick. He would go on to sit out all but 21 snaps during his rookie season. 20 of those snaps would come in the season finale against the rival Cincinnati Bengals. In the middle of the third quarter, Ojabo would collect his first sack on Joe Burrow, causing the QB to fumble.

The Ravens elected to not re-sign veterans  Justin Houston  and  Jason Pierre-Paul.  Instead, going with the young promising duo of Ojabo and  Odafe OwehTyus Bowse will still get some rotation on defense, but I don’t think it will be enough to hinder Ojabo’s upside. He is a speed rusher with good flexibility to get around blockers and his natural instincts to attack the ball and cause fumbles is a huge plus for both the Ravens and the IDP community. Sacks, turnovers, and sprinkle in a few tackles and we have the makings of a hidden gem
