She is a mom, wife, businesswoman and an improv artist. Sarita and her husband Caesar Ekya sold everything they had in 2005 to start S'MAC - a popular East Village restaurant that sells Mac N Cheese. When New York went into lockdown in March this year, small businesses like theirs were hit and it forced them to make some tough decisions. Under immense pressure, the Ekyas revamped their business model, introduced an entirely new product line, started serving health care workers and even rehired one of the 2 employees they had to initially lay off. They have served over 1500 meals to health care workers at the time of this recording.
In this episode Sarita explains what drives her, how she manages to remain calm and execute well under pressure, how scheduling has helped her to achieve a lot, and what one can do to remain sane and happy during the crisis.
