Scottie Scheffler Clinches Arnold Palmer Invitational

Scottie Scheffler Clinches Arnold Palmer Invitational

Scottie Scheffler shot a 72 on Sunday as he won his second PGA Tour title ever, and second in the last three events.

Scheffler's first PGA Tour win came at last month's Waste Management Phoenix Open, and he rode his newfound confidence and championship swagger to Sunday's win.

Fan-favorite Rory McIlroy was in contention at Bay Hill through the first 54 holes, but Bay Hill got the best of him on Sunday en route to a four-over-par 76, tying McIlroy for 13th.

"It feels great, especially to win on such a difficult golf course and the way it finished," Scheffler, who is now set to move up to No 5 in the Official World Golf Rankings, told Sky Sports.

"I didn't play my best stuff, I just kept grinding and made some key putts down the stretch, and it was really just a fight all day.

"I'm really proud of how I stayed patient, Teddy [Scott, Scheffler's caddie] did a good job of trying to keep me in it and it was a good result."

Scheffler entered the final round two shots back of leader Viktor Hovland, and posted a 4-under 68 that tied for the day's low round on Saturday. Sunday Scheffler posted an even 72 in the final round and a 6-under 283 overall for the win.

Hovland, Tyrell Hatton, and Billy Horschel tied for second at 4-under 284.
