God's Favor is on Solomon, he is an established King after David his father. In humility, Solomon knows the Responsibility of Governing God's people. The Lord appears to him, and in return, Solomon asks for Wisdom and Knowledge. It is wisdom that leads him to build the temple of the LORD, and it is quite evident! When the TEMPLE is built one needs to put furnishings and decorate it.
