Feeling Stuck In Midlife
SPEAKER_00 0:00

You're asking the wrong people for help because the truth is OBGYNs are surgeons.

Dr Pompa 0:08

That's why we take more hormones in any country in the world, and yet we have more hormone problems.

SPEAKER_00 0:14

You can take hormone replacement therapy all day long, but it's band-aid medicine. You're just getting rid of a symptom.

Dr Pompa 0:23

We have more toxins than any country in the world. We live in toxic homes because of the way they build them.

SPEAKER_00 0:31

I unfortunately get a ton of patients who've been on GLP1s and they have terrible gut issues.

Dr Pompa 0:40

People think GLP1, they're taking the peptide. It's not. They're taking a drug. Ladies, are you stuck? Do you feel like you're stuck? What does that even mean? Maybe you hit perimenopause or menopause. No energy, brain fog. Maybe it's anxiety. I can't figure it out. Where did my life go? We're going to talk about the real, I say the real causes of that. And my next guest, she came over from the other side. She is a triple board certified OBGYN. She knows a lot about hormones, but the answer is not what you think. So don't think that that's the we're going to tell you to take more hormones. Okay, Dr. Tabitha. And I'm also here with my wife because she has a lot to say about these topics.

SPEAKER_01 1:26

So I think I made it through.

Dr Pompa 1:29

You know, and and I'm really excited to buy it. I think so. Yeah, you did.

SPEAKER_01 1:32

You look amazing. So yeah. At a certain point, you stop caring how you look, right? Right? Like there's a lot of people.

Dr Pompa 1:39

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

SPEAKER_01 1:40

Well, okay. There's so much.

Dr Pompa 1:42

We're already starting with this. When when do you care? When did you stop worrying about the way you look?

SPEAKER_01 1:47

What I mean is when you're not feeling well, you're less focused on how you're looking because you don't people are telling you you look great and you're thinking that the bottom's falling out, basically. Or or at least nothing makes sense. Yeah. That's how that was really how I felt. Like things just didn't end up and no one prepared me.

Dr Pompa 2:05

Yeah, but see, she she went through menopause. Like she would be like, you know, yeah, some things change, but like, you know, not where she would have described, I'm stuck. Most women are, you know, I think you describe it as like the the five things that women are being told, right? Your labs are normal. I don't feel normal. Yeah. Right. It's like that's one of the things you're told. Yeah, I didn't have that. Eventually just take this hormone. And they're like, well, it helped a little bit, but not anymore. I still have thinning hair. I still don't feel well. I still don't have energy. My brain's not working. What the heck happened, right? And and they're told, well, you know, but here's my symptoms. We can't measure that, right? You know what I'm saying? This is the same type of thing people are told. So let's start there because that's what people maybe I should get out of this conversation.

SPEAKER_01 2:52

Because I didn't know that, but I had my own stuff. Yeah, yeah. No, no. I'm glad that he thinks I made it through so well. Oh, they did a good job.

SPEAKER_00 2:59

Hopefully you weren't suffering in silence. Hopefully you weren't just putting on the brave face, because honestly, that's what a lot of women do. They just suck it up, right? Until their suck it up breaks. And for a lot of women, they just give up hope because they go to their OBGYN or their primary care and they don't get a lot of options.

Why Standard Care Misses Roots
SPEAKER_00 3:19

And here's what I tell women: you're asking the wrong people for help because the truth is OBGYNs are surgeons. I spent four years in a surgical residency learning how to do a hysterectomy four different ways and stat C sections and procedures in the office. I was not studying the intricacies of hormone balance and the effect on gut health and your immune system and thyroid and all of these things. It wasn't until I burnt myself out and went on to study functional medicine and menopause and anti-aging medicine that I saw the connection of all of this. So we're honestly looking to these women's health experts, but they're not. They're surgeons.

Dr Pompa 4:01

Yeah. So coming from that world, um you saw all of that, right? I I think that's why you have such authority in this area. You you're a woman. You came from that area. You've watched, you know, every bit of the journey that women go through. You were part of that professionally. So that's why I think you have, like I said, such authority to speak to this and bring an answer to this that's different. I wanna I I wanna say this because um I just got back from Italy. We just got back from Italy. Nice. And I can tell you, women there aren't they don't view menopause like here. They're not taking hormones unless they're missing a gland. Here we have all these women taking hormones, we have women on these special diets and doing a lot of things, okay? I can tell you it's not that way there. And yet you see thin women who aren't complaining about brain fog and energy. Why?

SPEAKER_00 5:02

There's so much to unpack. It's so good. First of all, I had the blessing of inheriting a very mature practice when I first came out as an OBGYN. I had all of these patients who were already menopausal and they were on HRT. Even though this was post 2002, after the study scared everybody, um, the attending didn't believe the study. And so we kept patients on hormones. And so I did get to see the difference, but why is there such a difference in America versus Italy and other countries? And it really is because of the way that we live. And so your argument is right. Like the reason we need HRT in this country is because we live in such a toxic world and we live in something that is like toxic internally and externally. So you talk so well about all the external toxins. And just for full transparency, Dr. Pompo was one of my first mentors when I found the world of functional medicine, and you're talking about like mercury and mold and all these things. And I'm like, yes, this root-cause stuff makes a difference because your hormones are downstream, they're the result of

HRT And Birth Control Band-Aids
SPEAKER_00 6:20

what's going on, these deeper imbalances. So you can take hormone replacement therapy all day long, but it's band-aid medicine. You're just getting rid of a symptom. And what I teach women is that your symptoms are actually a beautiful gift from your body. It's a message. Your body's trying to tell you something and communicate with you. And so we're trained to shut it down and not listen to it. And we start this really early on in puberty. As soon as girls start having their periods, we're like, oh, let's give them a birth control pill because it's too heavy or it's too painful, or it's, you know, they're missing school. Instead of going, why is it too heavy? Why are they struggling with that?

Dr Pompa 7:05

And by the way, think about the message that that sends. Because I know you teach your thoughts are really important. We're gonna talk about that. But that sends a message that they need hormones and drugs to be normal, yes, to fit in or whatever it is. So right away, they're starting with that message.

SPEAKER_00 7:22

Yeah. And they're not doing that in Italy, right? Right. Yeah. They don't even know it's this culture that gets ingrained in us, this brainwashing that starts at a very early age. Yes, you need medication in order for this normal process in your body to function right. And the sad saddest part is I believed this lie as an OBGYN, we're just regulating your hormones. That's what I would say when I gave birth control pills. We're just regulating your period. No, we are not. We are shutting down the communication between your brain and your ovaries. We are overriding your system. We are stopping your own hormone production.

Dr Pompa 8:00

Absolutely. And you know what I always explain to people is if you knew how your innate intelligence worked all day long to change your hormones all day long. Cortisol, thyro, you know, I mean thyroid hormone, testosterone, I mean all of them, estrogen, progesterone, they're constantly adapting, moving, changing throughout your day. So the moment you decide I'm going to override that and take estrogen, and again, time and a place, but the now you're taking all that adjustment out. And your innate intelligence is like, wait a minute, we have a steady production of estrogen. What do I do with that? Because the changes this, that, that. There's a consequence to that.

SPEAKER_00 8:43

100%. And what a most women don't realize is that when you take something like a birth control pill or hormone replacement therapy, the other hormones, like you're saying, are impacted because they're all being directed by the two glands in your brain, your hypothalamus and your pituitary. They are responsible for your talking to your thyroid, talking to your adrenals, talking to all your different hormone-producing endocrine organs. And so nothing is happening in silos. Like we want to think that we go to the gastroenterologist for our stomach problems, the gynecologist for our period problems, the endocrinologist for a thyroid, and literally it's all connected. When one doctor gives one thing or one procedure, it impacts the other areas. And nobody's having that conversation in conventional medicine. So what we're doing is trading one problem for another. We're not actually fixing the root cause of anything. Yeah.

Dr Pompa 9:42

You know, that's I've been saying this for so long. But you know, in our space right now, functional medicine, just to put a name on it, that that's not a popular message. Yeah.

unknown 9:53

Yeah.

Dr Pompa 9:54

Yeah. Yeah. But I I think, but it comes a lot better from you than me because it it is your area of expertise, right?

SPEAKER_01 10:01

And you're a woman.

Dr Pompa 10:02

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_01 10:03

And because I mean, I can't tell you every female practitioner I've ever spoken to, and I and I don't speak to them sitting down as a patient. I speak to them just because we're in their clinics or we're friends or whatever. And they every one of them suggests hormones. Yeah. Every one of them.

Dr Pompa 10:20

But her levels of hormones, I'm looking at and I'm going, it's normal. You're postmenopause and you've been postmenopause. It's like it's normal. It's like I don't understand. But they just automatically, I mean, if she doesn't have a estrogen level of a 30-year-old, they want to make it that of a 30-year-old.

SPEAKER_00 10:39

Yeah, and testosterone and all of it, every bit of it. I am seeing this trend in functional medicine. It's starting to look more like band-aid medicine. It's starting to be a, you know, a pill for a problem, a poke for whatever. And so we have to fight against that. We really do. And I have just had too much experience to ignore the fact that you can give hormones all day long, but if you do not fix the deeper root cause issues, it's just going to come back. It's like a dog chasing his tail. You feel good for a couple months. You know, I've watched it time and time again. Oh my gosh, the testosterone woke me up. I have drive again. I feel amazing. Let's go. And then three months later, they're like, I need you to up my dose. I need you to change the formulation. I need it a different way. And so it's like you're swapping out from patches to pills to creams to this works.

Dr Pompa 11:34

Oh, I said this a long time ago.

SPEAKER_00 11:36

And it's literally because you're continuing to focus on the downstream results of what's happening deeper upstream. And what God's really laid on my heart this year is that everything I went through learning functional medicine, it gets you maybe 90% of the way there, but there is still 10% missing. And it's because we are a whole body, body, mind, and spirit. We are a triune being made after the image of our triune God. Absolutely. And when you don't heal the soul, when you don't take care of that aspect of your health, you will continue to fall short and never actually feel better. And so that is like I'm on a mission right now to just help women understand. Yes, we can get your hormones styled. And yes, we can, you know, fix your thyroid by decreasing your toxic load and doing all, and it's important and it's necessary. And sometimes you have to do that before you can tackle what's going on spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. But you do have to tackle that at some point.

unknown 12:41

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 12:42

Oh my gosh, my favorite saying and what I learned, because of course everyone has a shortcut for how to heal, right? Or everyone's trying to sell you a shortcut for how to heal. Not everyone, but many people. And um my thing is that God put on my heart is there is no way to it but through it. You cannot, you cannot circumvent what you learn in your adversity or in your trauma or in your pain that you learn when you just you allow yourself to feel it, go through it, and and have victory from it. And that's when it becomes a scar instead of a wound. Yeah. And that's just that's so my message as well. So I can't wait to hear more of what you've done or how you do it. Yeah, let's go there. Yeah, yeah. Because honestly, all this is true, and we all we've all established our basic premise. We're coming from the same place. But yeah, I want to hear what really people need to know more about. They can find you for their health.

Dr Pompa 13:39

The 10%, we'll get to the 10%, right? Because everyone that could be the missing thing for them. And I believe that it's the missing thing for a lot of people. Because a lot of people watching us are doing a lot of good things. But let's look at this other 90%. Let's look at the changes that people made, just like Marily said, okay, great. What should women do today? Because there is a difference in lifestyle from Italy, France, your, you know, some European countries to this country. So I think philosophy is part of the difference, but talk about it because these are the root causes. So, in other words, if we're going to get someone out there that's going, all wonderful, but I'm still brain fogged. I still have no energy. I still feel like crap. I don't have sex drive. You know, it's like Yeah.

Tabitha’s Story From Burnout
SPEAKER_00 14:25

There's a couple really important pieces that I see over and over again in my virtual practice. A lot of women have their organs removed. I just had one this morning before I even got out of bed. I had to deal with she had bilateral mastectomy for stage zero breast cancer, which is technically not cancer. It hasn't invaded the tissue. So we are over-treating women. The majority of women that come to me don't have their gallbladders. Their pancreas isn't functioning. They have insulin resistance, prediabetes. They've had their organs in the andor their uterus removed or burned and scarred. And so they're already, you know, behind the eight ball, trying to catch up and figure out how to feel good. And so it's really a struggle to say, well, just supplement your way out of it or just clean up your diet when they don't even have a gallbladder to, you know, to put bile into their intestines to help them absorb fats.

Dr Pompa 15:25

And so you really do need for healthy hormones.

SPEAKER_00 15:28

Exactly. And to detoxify their toxins because it binds all of that and removes it. And so their conventional doctors aren't telling them that because they're surgeons. They're like, oh, I fixed your problem. You no longer have gallstones. Okay, well, now she can't digest her foods and absorb her fats. So we do need to encourage women to work with a provider who understands this root-cause functional medicine and how to deal with the fact that they have had organs removed. I've seen it a ton. But we cannot negate the fact that if you don't have the foundational things laid in place, it doesn't matter if you have all your organs or not. You have got to clean up your diet, clean up your environment, sleep enough. I will just say that, you know, I am a high school dropout, teen mom, didn't do 12th grade. God told me directly, you need to help give women a voice and a choice in their health and not let what happened to you happen to other women. So I got my marching orders and I figured out how to get into medical school, how to do a residency, how to have a practice, all the things. And I burnt myself out to the point where I couldn't remember my patients' names that I had delivered the night before.

Dr Pompa 16:42

So you just you're describing the crazy cycle that I see the difference of American women versus Italian women that just got back from Italy. So it's a good analogy. But you were on the cycle crazy cycle. So I were you trying hormones to fix it? I mean, being an OGBG OBGYN. What were you doing?

SPEAKER_00 16:59

So I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's after my delivery at 17 years old.

SPEAKER_03 17:04

For sure.

SPEAKER_00 17:05

They gave me um radioactive iodine to burn out because I had a hyperthyroid storm. Then I required thyroid medication after that. I had chronic gut issues because I had emotional traumas that I never dealt with and parasites not treated as a child. By the time I was 13, I was suicidal and depressed constantly. I've been on five different antidepressants. By the time I got done with medical school, I was on bental for my irritable bowel syndrome, protonics for my GERD, had all the scopes done. Um, was on a birth control pill because I can't get pregnant again. I'm trying to be a doctor, right? And on my thyroid meds. And so I was a very typical American woman. I was leading an insane life trying to produce and prove my worth because everybody said there's no way you can become a doctor. You're a loser, essentially. And so I was gonna prove them wrong. That was an ident false identity, false identity, absolutely, but I bought into the lies that I was being trained to believe. Like, you just need thyroid medication, there's nothing you can do about your Hashimoto's, and you just need to be on this PPI for decades, and you know, wondering why I couldn't digest food and why it was running through me and I'm running to the bathroom with diarrhea. And like it just went on and on until I started having herniated discs in my back. How I I'm sure you see this a ton. I see a ton of Hashimoto's with uh degenerative disc disease, herniated ruptured discs. So I was a good patient. I had surgery, I had a dyctomy, laminectomy, took six weeks off to heal.

SPEAKER_03 18:44

Wow.

SPEAKER_00 18:45

My third night back on call, I re-entered and couldn't move. You guys, I was in bed being carried to the toilet for seven days. I was 40.

Dr Pompa 18:56

Okay. And how are you now?

SPEAKER_00 18:58

So for decades I lived like that, you guys. Yeah, I am 51 right now.

Dr Pompa 19:02

Yeah. So that you're at you're like you're at the spot where most women are, right? In that range that you just said.

SPEAKER_00 19:08

And you've been through it. And you've been through it.

Dr Pompa 19:09

Yeah. So, okay, so you blow out another disc and then So this is what my orthopedic surgeon says.

SPEAKER_00 19:16

Back surgery is like lace potato chips. He can't have just one. Oh my gosh. He's like, we'll just put some rods and screws in there. You might herniate above and below and need more surgery. So for five, ten years, we'll just do another one. I was like, time out. I am out of here. And I did the unthinkable and I left for four months. I didn't work and I just went on this healing journey. That's how I found functional medicine. I ended up joining your program and doing all these things. I avoided a second back surgery. I got off my antidepressants after two decades. I got off the GERD reflux medications, all the things. I got my bowels regulated. I could start mem remembering people again. And everything just shifted. And like it took God laying me on my back for seven days to wake me up in a purpose to say, wait a second. I I was mad at him. I was like, but you told me to do this, God. You told me to serve women and like to just pour myself out and do whatever it took. He's like, I never told you to do it that way. That's not sustainable. And so I started going back to God. And I read Romans 12, 2. It said, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And he just started downloading all of these things about our innate intelligence of our body, about our ability to heal. He's like, Your ego's so big, you think as the surgeon, you're doing the healing, but you're not. Just because you're cutting organs out and suturing things together.

Dr Pompa 20:52

You did endromete your Yeah, I was a robotic surgeon.

SPEAKER_00 20:55

People come from all over the state because I was like so good at it. But he was like, I make those bodies grow back together. You don't make those skin cells grow back together and that fascia and those things. That is by my hand. And I allow you to be that surgeon. And like he just gave me so much revelation. Like, I could not go back to the way I was practicing. I could no longer hand out birth control pills and sign them up for their tenth endometriosis surgery. I was like, this is madness. We're just doing more damage. We're not actually helping and healing women.

Dr Pompa 21:32

Yeah, and this is our health care system. And this is why women, yeah, disease care. This is why women don't have hope, though. Right. And and I and but your story is, you know, pain to purpose because again, I I think I preach this, but I think they're gonna hear it from you better because you not only are a woman, but you've lived through it as you just heard in a massive, massive way. My gosh. I what I want to say to the people watching is if she can do it, you can. Do it.

SPEAKER_00 22:00

100%.

Dr Pompa 22:01

I mean, I mean, I'm serious.

SPEAKER_00 22:03

You had to fight against the system, too. I had to fight all every step of the way. And I can actually say now at 51 that I wouldn't take any of it back. I am grateful for all of the pain, all of the trials and tribulations. I count it all joy. Like I just joined the James One Club. I'm like, if it's not good, he's not done. It's all for my good and his glory. That is what the Bible says. And when I started just trusting his word, like everything shifted. And so for a decade, I've kept the 40, 35, 40 pounds off. I've stayed off the antidepressants and the medications, and I've finally found the joy and the peace that I never had.

Dr Pompa 22:48

Yeah. So I mean, you just answered the question with your own story. Because the question was, what do they do, right? Yeah. I mean, you came out of the drugs and all that stuff, and okay, you changed your diet, obviously. I mean, that was a big thing.

SPEAKER_00 23:02

Huge. Like I do not have to be able to do that. Kind of give some of the basics. Yeah. Okay.

Dr Pompa 23:05

So you were obviously gluten sensitive because your gut was wide open. So it was just crossing right over. You made antibodies. That's right.

SPEAKER_00 23:13

I had eczema so bad my hands would bleed because I was washing them 10 times a day as a surgeon and wearing gloves all day. But when I stopped eating gluten and healed my gut, the eczema has just it's been gone.

SPEAKER_03 23:26

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 23:26

Like everything shifted. My depression. I remember one day I ate a bowl of cereal after not eating gluten for a while. And I sat on that couch depressed for hours. And it took me a while to make that connection. And I was like, wow, that's really powerful. I need women to know this because they're going on Zoloft and Lexapro in these drugs because they're eating gluten and it's destroying them.

Dr Pompa 23:52

Yeah, well, because they have leaky gut. You know, it's glyphosate is a chemical that opens the gut up and it crosses right over and people make antibodies. The thyroid is the first gland to feel the effect, right? It's the canary in the coal mine.

SPEAKER_00 24:07

If we wonder why so many women have autoimmune disease compared to men, well, estrogen, it turns out, modulates your immune system. And we we actually want this when women get pregnant, half of that baby you're carrying is foreign DNA. And you would abort it. Your body would like get rid of it if your immune system actually attacked appropriately. So our immune system gets downregulated with those high levels of estrogen and estriol. And so we want that connection and that relationship with estrogen in our immune system, but it also increases our risk of our immune system being overactive and confused. And that's why after I had my baby, my system went haywire because my estrogen had dropped so low. You're kind of almost in a menopausal state in the postpartum period. You're just not making those hormones because you're making so much prolactin and oxytocin and things to breastfeed and that type of stuff. And so it's a real opportunity for women to say, okay, how can I support my immune system while I'm healing my gut?

Fight Or Flight Runs The Show
SPEAKER_00 25:16

And what I've realized is it all comes back to our nervous system. Our nervous system is directing every part of our body, it's telling it to either be in fight or flight survival or to be in rest digestive.

Dr Pompa 25:30

So you're saying it's the nerve system is the key to your hormones. Yeah. So that was a big change. Yes, you changed your diet. You you were my program. You started detoxing your body and your life. So, you know, the diet, the toxins, that runs all together. Uh so that all changed. But again, there's this n, you know, this nerve system connection.

SPEAKER_01 25:52

That's the God connection. Okay.

Dr Pompa 25:53

And honestly, I I think that's where like, you know, my wife had the di. I mean, she didn't go through anything you went through, right? I mean, she went through God bless you. She never got a hot flash. I know I'm not she never got a hot flash, you know, nothing. But she did have some physical changes. She had a spondilo, which is your spine from when your baby is shifted. And during during menopause, it shifted more because estrogen changes, good or bad, cause that laxity, right? So uh what we did is not surgery, we did stem cells, and it's cinched it up, and then she was able to work out a bit.

SPEAKER_01 26:29

I mean, I can tell when I need, you know, I I'm tight in the morning, but throughout the day I don't have limitation anymore. Before it was all day, I'd walk around like, you know, feeling my pain. So, but yeah, I'm I'm so much better from that.

Dr Pompa 26:43

She'd walk around with her hand like this in the bottom.

SPEAKER_01 26:45

Yeah. But I but I do have I do have spinal stenosis and I do have degenerative disc disease.

Dr Pompa 26:53

Because it had been that way since she was a kid.

SPEAKER_01 26:55

Yeah, and and my grandmother had this stuff too. So I think some of that genetics did play a part. I'm most like her. She had but I'm I know things she didn't know, too.

unknown 27:06

Yeah.

Dr Pompa 27:07

So but let me I want to finish a point, though, because we we said about the toxins, the diet, everything right now, all that. But you mentioned your the crazy cycle really took you under, right? Women are feeling that, running their kids here, running their kids there, right? There's a there's a a different um thing with again, European women versus the stress that American women are under, which is kind of what you're tapping into, saying your nerve system is probably the tipping point, you know, of if this is 50 percent, maybe this is the next 30 percent, and we'll talk about the next 10 percent. But talk like, okay, Marilee would say that would be her weakness here, like meaning she did diet right. We detoxed her years ago. She had very high lead levels, and you know, during pregnancy, lead comes out. Yeah, that affected her post-pregnan. But we got rid of that, right? Because I knew how to do that. But her nerve system is sympathetic. This is a sympathetic.

SPEAKER_00 28:05

Yeah.

Dr Pompa 28:06

So talk to me, because that's where so many people are sympathetic, stuck there.

SPEAKER_00 28:11

The majority of people are stuck in fight or flight from dusk until dawn, and usually all throughout the night. That's why they're not sleeping. You know, we want to blame it on everything else. But when your nervous system is stuck in that fight or flight, it is telling your adrenals to make constant cortisol and adrenaline and norepinephrine and all of these stress hormones. I mean, just ask somebody who's dealt with panic attacks. It is just like this snowball effect that happens. And if you don't do something to actually shift out of that nervous system into parasympathetic nervous system, you'll just stay there.

SPEAKER_01 28:48

I've never had a panic attack, which is kind of crazy, I think, given my how wide or how.

Dr Pompa 28:54

Yeah, and she doesn't even get anxiety. Okay. But but yet I, you know, I I do. Like when I was sick, I had anxiety all the time. And I will get anxiety even now before her. Um even a panic attack attack, but where she'd I've never seen her have a panic attack ever in her life. But anyway, the point is, though, is but I go back into parasympathetic, no problem, right? It's like I don't run that. You know, she kind of runs like a typical.

SPEAKER_01 29:20

Yeah, I can get stuck in a cycle, I think. You know, I call it like a spin cycle. Like I'll I'll get fixated on something and I'll ruminate there for sure. And then I'll and then all of a sudden it just goes away.

Dr Pompa 29:32

So maybe even part of the question is is like, you know. Why does that happen? Why does it happen? And how do you think what would women say? Like how they're probably saying, How do I know if I'm stuck in a sympathetic thing? And how do I know if that's affecting my hormones?

SPEAKER_00 29:45

Yeah. So a lot of women feel overwhelmed for a a large period of time. You know, as soon as they wake up in the morning, their to-do list is going through their brain, and you know, their household is crazy and they can't wait to get their kids out the door so they can actually exhale and and feel okay.

SPEAKER_04 30:03

At one point when I was sitting, you couldn't get me out the door.

SPEAKER_01 30:06

I just I just I'm writing our book, I'm writing our story, and I was just I actually just wrote about that, like rewrote it yesterday, and I was cracking up. Yeah, he was the one I wanted out the door. The kids were totally manageable. He was the problem. So I hear that too.

Dr Pompa 30:20

Kids became a problem later.

SPEAKER_01 30:22

But yeah, yeah, exactly. But but that's that's normal. I'm not normal, but it is the the cycle. It's the way it trick gets triggered.

SPEAKER_00 30:30

And and women usually do a couple different things. Sometimes they will just retreat, they will shut down, they will disengage. And then when your estrogen goes away, it helps that even more because estrogen makes us feel alive and loving and affectionate toward people. And when our estrogen decreases, what I hear most often is I just I'm not interested anymore. I don't want anybody to touch me. I don't want to be intimate. I don't even want to show my kids love. It's like this this wall comes over them, this veil. And so if you're already disengaging as a way to handle the overwhelm and the stress of your crazy life and your job and all the things, what I see is women saying, I'm just a shell of myself. I don't know who I am anymore. I don't feel anything. I don't want to do my life anymore. And it's heartbreaking, right? And so it's not about just getting that estrogen back up to whatever level. You literally have to deal with the nervous system dysfunction that got you there because you're making the wrong hormones and sending the wrong signals. And then it gets a little more complicated because, like you said, you're ruminating on things. Our thoughts produce the chemicals that we feel and that our body experiences. And so every time we have a thought, we have like a 90-second wave of either these neurotransmitters or these different hormones. And if we continue to think that thought and feed that thought, the hormones and neurotransmitters continue to be produced. And that's how you spiral into a panic attack. But it's also how you just stay stuck in sympathetic dominance all day long. Sure. You just continue to think about that email from your boss, and you don't actually have the conversation and you talk to your girlfriends about it, and you just like every time you talk about it and give it life, you make the cortisol again, you make the adrenaline again. And that those hormones and neurotransmitters are very inflammatory, they're very destructive to our cells. And so, what I love to explain to women is your adrenal glands are your backup ovaries. If you are already in nervous system dysfunction, your adrenals are working over time to handle all this crazy fight or flight stress. When your ovaries shut up their shop for good, their little factory, they close up, they're done. They're looking to your ovaries, going, hey, we need hormones, we need DHEA, testosterone, estrogen. And your over your adrenals are like, no, we're done too.

Dr Pompa 33:09

We'll look into the adrenals.

SPEAKER_00 33:11

Yeah, and the adrenals are like, we're already tapped out. We're we're not shipping you any good hormones. We're over here producing cortisol, right? It's all the hurt.

Dr Pompa 33:21

They're shifting in perimetopause and menopause is that even when their ovaries are still functioning, it's less and less in the adrenals are taking over. Trevor Burrus, Jr. Correct. So when someone's just fried because they're running kids here, doing this, doing that, you know, it's they're producing less and less. So what's the solution? I will add one I'm gonna add one more problem, dude.

SPEAKER_01 33:44

I'm thinking to myself, I you know, I guess it could have been a whole lot worse given all the things we've been through, honestly, by the grace of God. Thank you, Jesus. Seriously. But that said, still, I I would like to function at my highest potential, right? I would like to not feel like I I mean, I my thing is I might feel more tired or something like that. That's probably my default, or I just don't have enthusiasm for things that I want to get done when I'm home. When I'm traveling and we're on purpose, I'm I've got all kinds of energy. So I so I don't know that that's really I don't know that that's my thing. I think my thing might just be I'm maybe I'm just a little more bored at home, right? I like I like I like being I I love I love a crowd. Um, you know, or at least social. Yeah, I'm I am I'm an extrovert. So I really I recharge with people.

Purpose Identity And Marriage Support
SPEAKER_00 34:37

I love that you said that because uh my mentor literally said that to me a few months ago. I'm afraid to go back into burnout because I feel like the purpose that in this assignment God has for me is so big and I'm afraid of like burning myself out again, right? Legit. I not have to do that. I don't want to be back in bed for seven days with a broken back.

SPEAKER_01 34:58

Right.

SPEAKER_00 34:58

But God was like, we're gonna do it my way, so you're not gonna burn out. And my mentor said to me, sometimes exhaustion is not adrenal fatigue and burnout, it is boredom. Sometimes you just need to relight your torch and your fire for Jesus and like get on mission, like you're saying, and do what fuels your soul. Your soul is bored, it's dying, you're neglecting it, it's atrophying. So we can't just focus on the body all of the time because our soul, our mind, will, and emotions is driving our thoughts, which are driving how our body feels. And our body does keep the score on all of it.

Dr Pompa 35:39

Now you're tapping into that 10%.

SPEAKER_00 35:41

Yeah.

Dr Pompa 35:42

You know, where you know, so many people aren't connecting to, right? You know, but can a woman's purpose be enough just dealing with their kids? Or after their kids start doing their own thing, is there a gap?

SPEAKER_01 35:54

I I I really feel very strongly about that topic. I think culture has made women feel that you know, being feminine, staying at home, caring for their husband and their children is some lesser task. Right. And it's not an a privilege to be just so grateful for. I I really have a problem with that. I mean, I I you don't have to do something. I I always say if I did not if I did nothing but support him for the struggle that he had for where he needed to go, then that was enormous. Absolutely. Now, now what I learned in that that battle that we were in together and raising a family that was traumatized for a variety of reasons, not just his illness, um I learned some things. And I'm passionate to encourage other women to trust God in their in their adversity or just expect more from him that he can show up and show off in their life. So I have, you know, uh I have a like a threefold value for communicating that message in another season of my life or in this season of my life. But I feel women have just really believed such a lie about what they should be embracing. And I just I find it just heartbreaking, honestly, because they're suffering needlessly. Yeah if they really understood why God created them to be a helpmate to their husband, how much value and enthusiasm they would have for that role.

SPEAKER_00 37:29

I love that so much. That is that's everything, you know. We, especially in the United States, we live in a broken world. Like literally everything we're told is the opposite of what God tells us and how He designed us. So we're just like, we're not even seeing things clearly. We've lost all common sense. We uh we're not trusting our own bodies, our own intuition, all of that. And it's all just programming. So we do have to look to our creator who created the body, mind, and soul and say, what do you say about my health journey? What do you say about what's going on right here? Because I can't figure it out, and no doctor seems to be able to figure it out either. And women need to realize they know their body better than any doctor. And they're feeling it, they're experiencing it, they're living it.

SPEAKER_01 38:22

And you know, when that happens, we know where where we're supposed to be looking. Exactly. Right. We know exactly what God is trying to do. He's getting our attention to teach us that.

Dr Pompa 38:32

Both of you women had Jesus in your lives, and both of you are saying, This is, you know, was an important part of how you got through the crazy cycle. So I mean, is that something you're actually you know helping women understand now? You know, is like okay. The formula for the crazy cycle bailing out because this is bringing an opposite message. Our surge in general right now, you know, Stephanie Um uh Herodopoulos just has put out a lot of information about cell phones, this you know, all of it, screen time is destroying, it's creating the crazy cycle.

Romans 12:2 And Mind Renewal
SPEAKER_00 39:06

100%.

Dr Pompa 39:07

You know, we look you you all look there.

SPEAKER_00 39:10

So when God had me on my back for seven days and he made me open a Bible I haven't hadn't opened in 20 years, and I saw Romans 12.2 underlined, I had underlined that at 17 when I was pregnant. And so I knew well enough back then, and then I went out and I lived the opposite of that. I call myself a messy Christian.

Dr Pompa 39:31

Well, resay the 12.2, being conformed to the world and tell them what that actually means.

SPEAKER_00 39:35

Yeah.

Dr Pompa 39:36

Break that down.

SPEAKER_00 39:37

So it says, do not conform to the pattern of this world. So think about something, you make a mold of something. You have to design what the mold is that you're gonna be, and then you pour something into it and you let it harden, and that's the shape that it comes out as. I like to think of like Christmas chocolates, right? The white chocolate. Some people think of stones and things. So we are letting the world mold us and conform us into a pattern.

Dr Pompa 40:03

And even more so today because of this. Yeah, absolutely. Like we do. 100%.

SPEAKER_01 40:08

Just like we're 20 somethings or doing Botox. It's why young girls are putting, you know, fillers in their lips. It's insane. And it's because they're comparing themselves to the Kardashians, right? Like, and and not that they have it all figured out, but you know, it's it's what culture is feeding them.

SPEAKER_00 40:27

Yes. And there's major science backed behind that phone. Like they know how to get you the perfect dopamine hit at the perfect time so that you can just be addicted and addicted. And so we have to step back and say, is that what God wants for our lives? Or are we conforming to the enemy's pattern? Because he's the prince of this world. He gets to control what's happening here for now. And so I'm on Team Jesus, I'm with the kingdom of heaven, and that's an upside-down world. So you have to do things differently, which means you have to renew your mind every single day. And the best way, the quickest way is to get into the word. Read his word. That's where I start every day. It is living, it is active, it will cut through your bone and your marrow, like it will slice the thinnest little thing so that you can finally see what's going on. Like I always say, you can't see the picture when you're in the frame. So sometimes you need to get out of yourself and say, God, what am I not seeing? And start to have a conversation and create a relationship with your creator that invites him into your health journey. Because I promise you, you're not gonna heal a body you hate. You're not gonna heal a body that you don't believe can heal. So it comes back to those thoughts again. If you're constantly saying, I'm never gonna lose weight, I'm never gonna be feeling better, I'm always gonna be in pain. That was my big one. I'm always gonna be exhausted. You will. Like that's literally how it works. There is a principle set up. It's like God's automation system. You, if you tell yourself these things, that is what you will get. And so I think about the Israelites, and they were supposed to take an 11-day journey from Egypt to the promised land. It took them 40 years. They kept circling that mountain. What you said earlier, I just need to go through it. Literally, we are afraid to go through it because we are afraid of the pain. But I promise you're causing yourself more pain by avoiding it. And I like to share like if your kid breaks their arm and you can't get into surgery and have it put aligned, it'll start to heal. And so if the arm is crooked, you know you got to re-break it for it to heal properly. So sometimes we have to intentionally cause more pain, feel that pain so that we can get in alignment and actually truly start to heal. So, what I love to do is invite women to just be curious and kind to themselves because we're so mean to ourselves. Like I the stuff I used to say to myself, I would never say to my daughter or my best friends. I'd I didn't wear a bathing suit in my entire 20s. I think I was 28 when I finally put a bathing suit on because my first husband told me I had cellulite. Like, and I just took that on. I believed it. I was like, I can't wear a bathing suit. I'm too ugly. I weighed like 105 pounds at that point, you guys. Like, how sad is that? What a weight. Yeah, he has the problem, not you. Right. But I I just took those on. And so we believe the lies that the world tells us. We assume they're trying to be. Right.

Dr Pompa 43:43

Instead of the way God really sees it.

SPEAKER_00 43:45

Exactly. And so if you believe every thought you have, you will stay stuck in the pit. Well, we have to take every thought captive and question it. Wait a second, is that actually true?

SPEAKER_01 43:55

Or maybe I can wear a bathing suit, right? And every purpose that he has for us. Us is meant obviously because it's for his glory, he is going to continue to allow us to essentially experience the discomfort and what we don't enjoy or what we don't like in order to truly accept what is. You know, peep I think that's the other thing we're doing in our society, right? We're we're hiding from reality.

SPEAKER_00 44:21

100%.

SPEAKER_01 44:22

Instead of saying, hey, like this is what it is and it can be better. Yeah.

Dr Pompa 44:28

And I, you know, and I I think that you, you know, I almost like as I I sit here. It's like when I I see the influence that social media is having and I see what's happening, you know, to our society in general. And I I just feel like it's almost impossible to come out without Jesus in your life. I mean it. And I, you know, it's like I I always say I, you know, I am who I am and I believe what I believe, and I have probably viewers that believe in every religion out there, you know. But um I just I don't see another way. I I mean I don't know.

SPEAKER_00 45:06

He is the way.

Dr Pompa 45:08

I mean out of this trap. You know what I mean? It's like he goes another way. I think about it, I start my day in the Word, right? It's like because you know what that's what conforms my mind. Yes. Right? That's what otherwise I will would be like the world. And then if you're like the world, you're on the crazy cycle. How are you getting out? And you're and then you're never going to get your adrenals producing estrogen at the right amounts to feel good. And if it was only so easy just to take it, it's not. It's like it's not. That's why we take more hormones in any country in the world, and yet we have more hormone problems. It's like so. If it were that easy, I'm telling you. Trevor Burrus, Jr.: Let's touch on that.

SPEAKER_01 45:46

I am curious, but we also know that just to finish that thought too, as the days get shorter, obviously we start to see things as believers that other people may not see. So we see how destructive so many things are and how impossible they are to overcome without the Lord. But what about what about all the new information on hormones aren't what they were telling us they were and the dangers of them? Where do you fit it?

Dr Pompa 46:17

You mean they took off the black box.

SPEAKER_01 46:18

Right, right. Where do you fit into that equation? How do you feel about that?

SPEAKER_00 46:23

Yeah, that's a really important question. So

Estrogen Cancer And Toxic Load
SPEAKER_00 46:26

when the study got halted early, the women's health initiative in 2002, the the halt was because they saw two extra cases of breast cancer in 10,000 women or 8,000 women. Um and unfortunately, they blamed estrogen, even though it was the estrogen progestin arm of the study. So there was women who didn't have a uterus and they were only on estrogen replacement. Women with a uterus had estrogen and a progestin, not a progesterone, a synthetic progestin replacement. Those that had the extra cases of breast cancer, but the media heard estrogen and they ran with it. And so everybody was afraid of estrogen. And I do want to say estrogen is a growth hormone, it causes things to grow. Yeah. But if you don't keep it in check with progesterone, it will overgrow and potentially in you know influence cancer cells to, you know, go rogue. So that's why we have uterine cancer, endometrial cancer driven by too much estrogen. The main risk factors are obesity. Our our fat cells make estrone a form of estrogen. Um hypertension diabetes increase risk for those. So estrogen does have a role, right? But it's not the end all be all culprit. And so that's why it's important to always take a step back and look at the bigger picture. How is your body functioning overall? What is your toxic burden? Is your bucket overflowing? You need to take care of that. You need to detox because as long as your liver isn't metabolizing that estrogen properly, we are going to make too many estrone metabolites, which is causes a quinone reaction, which increases your risk of developing cancer. It damages the DNA inside the cells. Estradiol by itself, if metabolized properly in the right levels, shouldn't do that. And that's why we don't have high levels of cancer before menopause when our hormone levels are the highest. But we also don't have the toxic burden accumulation usually until toxins accumulate. Like menopause is this unmasking, it is this transition time and it's an opportunity. It's like, wait a second, I can either lay down and die, or I can get my stuff together and figure things out and actually have the best second half of my life.

SPEAKER_01 48:58

Right. So then if you're doing all of those things, right, addressing all those different components to being whole and well and healthy, are you then also looking at where hormones could support a woman's body and prescribing them or encouraging her to use them a lot in, you know, in conjunction with all the other things that she's doing to be healthy?

SPEAKER_00 49:19

So what I recommend is have that conversation because everybody is an individual and it matters whether or not you have your organs removed. Yeah, of course. You were mentioning at the outset. If you don't have ovaries or your adrenals are shot, you're gonna probably be more symptomatic than a woman who has her life together and sleeps eight hours a night and has a healthy marriage and those types of things.

SPEAKER_01 49:44

And I assume obviously you use a Dutch test to make different determinations too.

SPEAKER_00 49:49

What I tell women is there's two reasons to consider hormone replacement therapy. Number one is symptom management, and that is like everybody's on the bandwagon of hot flashes, night sweats. Let me get rid of these symptoms. And again, that is band-aid medicine, right? Sure. We're we're not looking to see do we have the foundationals dialed in? The other aspect is there is some research that once you go into menopause, your increase of lifestyle diseases does start to go up of bone loss, cardiovascular disease, dementia, Alzheimer's, those things. But if you have a healthy lifestyle, you don't need HRT to decrease those risks. Right. But we we jump to it because it's an easy solution of like, okay, well, that will slow my bone loss. I'm telling you, if you're still drinking Diet Coke too every day, you're still gonna get osteoporosis. I don't care how much estrogen replacement you're on. So it gives us this false security that we can just live, keep living life and you know, eat like we're 20 and do these things because I'm on HRT. And it and then they're really sad when they get the diagnoses that they didn't think they were gonna get. So that's the the sad part to me is it's this false sense of security of like, oh, I'm good now. I got my hormones. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Dr Pompa 51:12

So I mean, just to wrap up that answer because I thought it was such a good question because I'm always asked, right? Estrogen by itself doesn't cause cancer as easy as people think. Black box warning should have been removed. However, in conjunction with a lot of different toxins, a lot of other stressors, a lot of different things, you're not metabolizing it normal, it can lead to the to cancer. You know, so again, I it's that's it's when you look at these studies, they're so specific that it it doesn't match really what we see.

SPEAKER_00 51:44

So And that women's health initiative wasn't even studying estradiol, it was studying conjugated equine estrogen from horse urine, which is a type a different type of molecule than we make. But I want women to realize also that those symptoms you're having in your 20s, 30s, and 40s, they're telling you what your menopause is gonna look like. So if you're having heavy periods, fibroids, endometriosis, severe PMS, PMDD, migraines, that that's a warning to pay attention to it. I don't metabolize estrogen well. You're not gonna do well on HRT because you don't know how to break it down in your liver. You either have liver congestion from fatty liver and your terrible diet, or you're drinking every day, things like that. And so nobody's connecting those dots. I don't even see gynecologists connecting those.

Dr Pompa 52:37

That's the urine, that's the Dutch test, as she mentioned. It looks at how you're breaking estrogen down. Yeah. So it kind of looks at a a better pathway to look at the whole hormone chain.

SPEAKER_01 52:48

Wasn't mine low? My estrogen's low, right? Isn't it typically low?

Dr Pompa 52:53

In your in what?

SPEAKER_01 52:54

Blood or no, in in the Dutch test.

Dr Pompa 52:56

Um yeah, it was normal. Yeah. Okay. I was just more of normal.

SPEAKER_01 52:59

No, with someone like me who has the lower, yeah, I'm in I'm in the normal to low range. Would I do anything?

Dr Pompa 53:07

That's urine. Blood, you're where you should have eaten.

SPEAKER_01 53:10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 53:11

Well but the urine's more reflective, isn't it? Aaron Ross Powell So here's the difference.

Dutch Test And Liver Pathways
SPEAKER_00 53:16

The blood testing is telling us how much free hormone is floating around in the blood. So how much did you produce, how much is available? It doesn't tell us how much is going into the cells and binding to the receptors and sending the signal. And it's changing like that. And it changes, it's a pulsatile expression, so it changes all of the time. Whereas urine testing is measuring the results of what you did with that hormone. So you have this so much, but what did you do with it? So you turned it into estrone, to estriol, into these other metabolites, and that's what that urine test measures. And that can be really helpful to hint at, yeah, you need to support your liver. It is very congested. It is not methylating this estrogen, it's sending it down that bad pathway that's going to increase your risk of cancer. Or no, you have great methylation pathways and sulfation pathways. This looks really good. But for me, I had all kinds of genetic SNPs. I don't sulfate, I don't methylate, I have a comp mutation, all these things. And so my heavy periods, my PMS, all those symptoms, that was just interfere with all of those things.

Dr Pompa 54:30

100%. So it's not like you're broken. Toxins broke all of those pathways. I want people to hear that. Because some people say, oh, I'm doomed.

SPEAKER_00 54:38

No, and you might need to detoxify more than one time. Oh my God. It's a lifetime thing. Exactly.

Dr Pompa 54:46

We are, despite our best efforts, we are being exposed every day to hormone-disrupting chemicals. And that's the point, is when we're talking about someone who's stuck, it feels horrible. If I filled this water up to here, that's where you all are. A little bit of stress, and then the adrenals, and now you're not making it. It's like so we have to empty that. If this is our stress bucket, we have to empty it. Physical, chemical, and emotional stress. Yes. That's why bringing Jesus into your life, you know, it's like starting your day in prayer. Uh, you know, obviously the way our with we think, period, thoughts control our nerve system. And some people are just spinning.

SPEAKER_00 55:25

And can I just tell you like the Bible actually tells you I married you, so I've been in a spin ever since.

SPEAKER_01 55:33

I love it. That's so good.

Dr Pompa 55:35

It never talks about the benefits of moving.

SPEAKER_01 55:38

I say it all the time. It's James benefits. I heard your papa's wife. Trust me. Many, actually. Many. I'm grateful. But I signed up for it. I the way I look at it is God, God made me who I am because he knew what he called me to, right? I mean, and You knew what I needed. Right. And like and likewise, like I'm I mean too. I mean, we, you know, we're matchmade in heaven. Seriously. I mean, we've lived through some stuff, but we love each other and appreciate that we're together, that God brought us together, because I don't know who could have handled me better than him and vice versa. And it's a good thing. And now it's just a matter of, you know, having watching our kids become, you know, in some ways the product of us. That's where, like he was saying, oh my gosh, now it's dealing with adult children. But honestly, our kids are solid humans that are contributing to society. The rest of the stuff they'll figure out with a counselor.

SPEAKER_00 56:30

You know, you're such a beautiful example of you know who you are and your identity is in Christ. And so you are not afraid to say, yes, I am my husband's helper, and that's actually how God created me to be. And unfortunately, millions of women in this country believe the lie that they need to try and be just as good as a man or to prove themselves. You're ladies, you're depending on men. What a burden I wouldn't want to carry. I don't want to be like a man. I want to be like myself as a woman. And so we're absolutely finally we're starting to see this shift. And like Lisa Bevere, her book female is so good. We have to stop pretending have it. I started it like everything else. We're not little men. We don't fast the same, we don't eat the same, we don't work out the same, we don't think the same. We don't multiply. Did you have been on Lisa's podcast? I have not. That would be a dream. She's a friend of mine.

SPEAKER_01 57:29

Oh, she's I love her. I will definitely connect to you. You would love to be on her podcast, and she would love to have you. She's amazing.

SPEAKER_00 57:34

Her message is right on, though. We have to stop buying this lie that we need to be just like our counterparts. When in fact we need to work together with them and have beautiful relationships.

Dr Pompa 57:46

Riley doesn't even realize maybe more recently, I think, but for so many years, like her purpose. I couldn't have done what I anything that I've done without her in every aspect. Getting through my illness, because I was negative, she was positive. She had faith, I had none. I mean, you know, getting through all the stuff we we went through in our life, you know, I always needed her strength and all that. You know, in in just everything in business, she holds my life together. Business at home or business in it. I mean, it's like, do you need another purpose? But now she is starting to write our life story because who could tell it better? You know, but um she's already I might be doing it a little selfishly, too.

SPEAKER_01 58:31

I mean, he wants me to do it, and he's been wanting me to do it for so long, and it's a good story. I mean, it's it's a great story, it's a God story. But I think there's value, obviously, for me, because I really believe God wants women to be encouraged. Yes. For who they are and and what he's, you know, he it's what he's called us.

Dr Pompa 58:50

You're both saying that.

SPEAKER_01 58:51

Yeah, it's the message, right? And it's what how he's called us.

SPEAKER_00 58:56

And more women need to say that and not work 100-hour work weeks. Like I waited 17 years to have more children because my birth experience was so traumatic. I had a fourth degree tear like all the way through. Um and so my daughter was 17 when I had my second child. But I just want women to really understand that it's okay to want to be a mother and a wife and to support your husband because that's actually how you were designed. And more women need to talk about that. And it's okay if you're called to something professional like being a doctor.

Dr Pompa 59:32

Yeah, this is no cut on women. But it's not easy. Oh, right. Yeah, not at all.

SPEAKER_01 59:37

And more men need to be speaking it too, though. I think more men need to be telling their wife how much they appreciate 100% standing there supporting them. Yes.

SPEAKER_00 59:47

Everybody focuses on the scripture of like women need to obey their husbands and listen to what they say and serve them. Uh the verse right before that says that man will bow down and treat his wife and worship her and support her and love her the way that Jesus loves the church. So somehow we forget about that first part.

Dr Pompa 1:00:09

Yeah, see, man, we have uh a duty in that.

SPEAKER_01 1:00:13

Yeah, I mean, and I I do think that gets lost. I think we I we can just like obviously, as God tells us in the Bible, that the body doesn't function in parts, it functions as a whole. Exactly. And this is the same, right? And and even just our role within it is the same. We are functioning as a whole. And when we get married and the two become one flesh, you know, his weaknesses are my strengths, my weaknesses are his strengths. And if we live our lives that way, trusting God to open that up as we go to us to make us aware of that, then we do appreciate each other more. And we do have confidence in that role that we carry. I love that. I wouldn't want his burden, right? He has to figure out how to make certain things happen. That's that's not my burden. And and he's a provider. And I I'm grateful that that's not something that would stress me out. I have other things that I, you know, I I still to this day, I have two kids back in my house. Well, now one just left again, which is great. But um, like I like We thought they were out. Yeah. I just had them come back for two and a half and she just left. So it's yeah. They always come back. I don't put my phone on airplane mode until like everybody's home. And that's I and I'm so I was sleeping really good for the job as a mom. And I, but yeah, I'm I'm until I have everybody in check. But when they're not home, I don't have that same thing for some reason, I guess. But yeah, it's but it's a thing, right? We care. Mothers have a different Yankee. Your dog stinks. We got two dogs. I know he he obviously must have farted.

SPEAKER_04 1:01:52

Because he doesn't like I'm like going like this for my what is dude doing it.

SPEAKER_02 1:01:57

These dogs farted. What's that saying never smelled to Delta?

SPEAKER_04 1:02:03

Blame in the dog.

SPEAKER_01 1:02:05

I can smell anything, but that's not unusual. I love it. Oh my gosh. He's clean, he's well groomed, anyways. Well, I didn't say it was dirty, I just said he farted. That's all.

SPEAKER_00 1:02:16

I love hearing that you start your day in the Word because, you know, I think I get a lot of pushback. Like, God doesn't care about your physical body, that's vanity, that's superficial. And I just say, well, then why did Christ come in a physical body in a human form and experience everything we experienced? He obviously cares. Yeah, he wanted to feel exactly what we feel, and he did. And then when you start reading the Bible, like 1 Corinthians 6, 19 and 20, do you not know your body's a temple of the Holy Spirit? You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God by honoring your body. I treated my body like a garbage can. I was like filling it up with whatever was at the nurse's station, the MMs, the drugs, the Mountain Dews, and all the drugs. You're up to here. I'm wondering why I couldn't function. And God was like, because you're you're not treating your vessel properly. And so actually stewarding our body and and working out and eating clean food, it's actually a way to honor God. And He loves that and He will bless you for it.

Dr Pompa 1:03:23

So you talk a lot about your thoughts in this process of controlling the nerve system, right? You said that if we have net when you start preparing, it happens happened to me this week, right? Where my thoughts were perpetuating, making me worse. And and it's like so then the stress builds and the cortisol, then the hormone, and then boom, you're not sleeping. So when you say that, people say that's wonderful, but how do I control my thoughts? So that's the question they're having.

SPEAKER_00 1:03:52

Yeah. Excuse me. And that's why I love that you start your morning in the Word, because I was running a successful fasting program online. Women would lose weight, feel great. It was eight weeks, and and then they would come back like six, eight, twelve months later. Oh, I gotta do the program again to gain the weight back. I got a wedding coming up. And I just started talking to God about it. And he was like, They're in this lidentity of believing that they can't actually sustain this and live a healthy life. And so I started teaching them this practice called Lectio Divina. It is just an ancient practice where you meditate on one scripture, and so we start the morning, it's like 10 minutes max. Lestio Divina. Ladio is Italy. It's straight out of Italy. Oh, yeah, Italian sounds Italian to me. So you meditate on one scripture, you ask God, what are you trying to say to me through this verse? And you listen and you journal and you write for five to ten minutes, and it's profound when people start having that communication, that relationship with their creator, they start to hear things of like, oh, you know, they get convicted. Yeah, I need to stop watching Netflix until 12 o'clock at night. God told me, like, that's part of my problem. And he just starts revealing all of this stuff. And like the Holy Spirit just goes to work. But here's the key you have free will. God gives us free will, he wants you to choose. As soon as you start choosing him, everything will shift. And that is how you can get control of your thoughts and take every thought captive and just be curious and kind. Is that true? Am I not worthy? Am I not good enough to come on Dr. Pompa's podcast? No, because I was invited. So I'm gonna go and I'm gonna show up. And you just have to like change your perspective and replace that lie with the truth. And all the truth that you need is in the Bible. It really, really is. And I'm I am a living testimony to say, like, I was afraid of the Bible. I was intimidated. I grew up. Catholic strict, like lay on the guilt, lay on the shame. You don't read your own Bible. It's read to you. The priests will tell you.

Dr Pompa 1:06:07

I grew up Catholic, ended up agnostic. Yes.

SPEAKER_00 1:06:10

I ended up in New Age, and Jesus came and dragged me out of a new age sound bath. And he was like, Oh, you belong to me. Well, so I'm actually writing a book on it right now. But I want women to not be afraid of the Bible. It is for you. It is living and active, and it has everything you need in it. And that's all I do is I just help women get curious and comfortable with their thoughts, with their relationship with Jesus. And when you cultivate that with fasting, um fasting's like the fast pass at Disneyland. Like you get to the front of the ride, right? Like you don't have to wait in any line. You will hear from God so quickly if you do it in a fasted state.

Dr Pompa 1:06:53

I love that analogy. I'm going to use that the fast pass at Disneyland. Because it's true. I always say when you're fasting, it harnesses that innate intelligence.

SPEAKER_00 1:07:02

Because you're telling your flesh to take a back seat. Shut up, flesh. Like I have a spirit to listen to. Like, literally, that's the fight all day long. And food numbs that fight, alcohol, whatever our addiction is porn, shopping, all of the things, we're doing it because our soul wants has something to say and we don't want to hear it. We just want to feed our flesh. And so as soon as you stop feeding that flesh, it starts to die off a little

Fasting That Fits Women’s Biology
SPEAKER_00 1:07:30

bit.

Dr Pompa 1:07:30

Yeah, yeah. So talk about fasting because what a I always do say a woman shouldn't fast like a man. A woman with thyroid condition shouldn't fast like one without. Yes. Someone with hormone condition fasts like someone who doesn't. Right. Okay. So, but yet I say everyone will benefit from fasting. You just have to alter how you're fasting. So, how do you deliver that message?

SPEAKER_00 1:07:53

That is how we were created. God did not create us with grocery stores on every corner. He created us to go times of feasting, times of fasting, to go from sugar burner to fat burner. The problem is Americans are stuck in sugar burning mode. And so when we try to remove the food, we get hangry, we get jittery, we start sweating, we get the keto.

Dr Pompa 1:08:14

That's a sign something's broken in your cells.

SPEAKER_00 1:08:16

And you can get it back. I have watched countless women reverse their pre-diabetes, diabetes, PCOS. You got to get into fat burning mode. You have to remind your body how to burn fat for fuel. And then when you take the food away, you keep burning the fat. But like you said, we women are special. We do need those carbohydrates to come in once or twice a week. We need that replenishment because our hormones are listening to everything that our metabolism is saying. So the man who can just drop 30 pounds, and the woman who's lost five and she's frustrated, you're just doing it wrong. It's not that you shouldn't fast. And you don't need a zump of things.

Dr Pompa 1:08:56

What you just said is something that I teach that if you women in perimenopause or menopause need more feast days, more carbohydrate days, right? Or even times of higher healthy carbon. That's right. Exactly. You need feasting. And now I walk around at seminars saying the feast is as important as the fast because everyone fasting's in vogue right now, right? It's because of its power. But they you can fast too much. And people are now figuring that out to where people are going, well, I can't fast. No, you were fasting wrong. Yes. You know, every human is designed to fast. It's how you're doing it. You may need more feasting with the fasting.

SPEAKER_00 1:09:35

I get so many women who are stuck on that one meal a day or the 16, 8, they're in a rut. I'm like, well, first of all, you gotta be starving. Yeah, you gotta shake it up. You gotta have the diversity. And you are not eating enough when you are eating. You're not eating nourishing foods. Your body is starving. It is, you know, screaming for some love and some help. And so it's yet again, uh, if it's not in trend, people don't want to do it. But it's how our bodies were created to function and thrive. And that's why we can live to be over a hundred years old. You look at those blue zones, you guys were just there. They are walking every day, they are carrying their groceries, they're chopping their vegetables. We buy them chopped up, so we don't even move our arms. Like, literally, it's such a contrast.

SPEAKER_01 1:10:24

Oh, they don't taste good either.

Dr Pompa 1:10:27

Here's the thing. Oh, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 1:10:28

The soil episode earlier this year, that was amazing. That is so true. It tastes different. It's so disappointing.

Dr Pompa 1:10:35

Well, I mean, there's some of the most incredible soil in Italy and the volcanic soil, so they have an advantage, but they didn't ruin it with the chemicals like we've done here.

SPEAKER_01 1:10:44

And our food just feels tasteless. I mean, it really is when you compare.

Dr Pompa 1:10:48

When you come back from Italy, it's even worse because you're like, there's a contrast.

SPEAKER_01 1:10:52

Oh my god. I thought it was bad before we went. Yeah. And it's no better now.

Dr Pompa 1:10:56

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04 1:10:56

I mean, she's really negative.

SPEAKER_01 1:10:58

I am I am really down on the soil.

SPEAKER_00 1:11:00

I am. I know. I mean, I know the root cause, right? It's the soil. Yeah. The first time I ate a little dessert in Mexico, I was like, this isn't sweet at all. What's wrong with this cake? And it's like because ours is so sweet. Yeah, we just have that hyper. Mexico has good food, actually. We're gonna go next week. We're just we are brainwashed.

Dr Pompa 1:11:18

It's we are. So we don't, yeah, think about this

Modern Toxins And Information Overload
Dr Pompa 1:11:21

country, right? We have more social media, all the social expectations, especially of women in this country. Uh we have the toxin, we have more toxins than any country in the world. We live in toxic homes because of the way they build them. Many people watching this that are stuck and it was overflowed their bucket as they're living in mold, unknowing to them, hidden infections in the jaw because the way we do dentistry, pulling out wisdom teeth, hidden. I mean, oh my gosh, can you tell you your dummy? All the plastics. Okay, like honestly, what I can tell people is like you better start your day in prayer. Yeah. Because ultimately that's going to change all of these lifestyles because you know, God changes us from the inside out. All of a sudden your life will change. He'll lead you to the truths, he'll lead you away from the things that are tanking your nerve system. But I mean, I it's like I feel like we have to put it all together for people. You know what I'm saying? You know, I mean, try.

SPEAKER_00 1:12:16

I mean, there's a scripture that Paul says everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial.

Dr Pompa 1:12:22

I just read that.

SPEAKER_00 1:12:23

See, like literally, and that's why America is the way it is, because we have freedom that other countries don't have. And we fought for it, and I am so grateful to live here. Like, I feel so blessed that we live in the United States. But because of that, we have way more danger of going off the rails than other countries because our chemicals aren't, you know, being managed and checked around by the government and all of those things. And so you have to not the government that wants that's knocking on our door right now.

SPEAKER_01 1:12:57

They're not going to take care of us. That's for darn.

SPEAKER_00 1:13:00

You have to be your own health advocate and your own life advocate, and you have to investigate, but we are all fat with information. Like one of my mentors calls it infobesity. Like, we're just fat with information. It is time for transformation. It is time to actually put stuff into practice. Absolutely. Stop going into Chat GPT and looking for a new workout regimen. Yeah. You need to renew your mind, you need to change your thoughts and your beliefs.

Dr Pompa 1:13:25

And that's where you're saying it starts. And I agree. Yeah. If you renew your mind, it's like everything else will start falling in place.

SPEAKER_02 1:13:31

Yeah.

Dr Pompa 1:13:32

And because if you renew your mind, your nerve system's gonna fall in place. If your nerve system falls in place, perimetopause and metopause are already perfect. It will happen actually the way it should, because your body knows how.

SPEAKER_01 1:13:43

And the creator of the universe is now involved in your life and he's going to lead it.

Dr Pompa 1:13:47

And then you start changing choices, then you become aware. Yeah. Then you start care. Then you, I mean, so when I said package it, you did. You know, I mean, it's like it does start there. It really does.

SPEAKER_00 1:13:58

That really is the top of the pyramid or whatever you want to call it. I use the analogy of an orchestra. Your body's an orchestra, your hormones are the violins. When they are in harmony, they sound amazing. If not, they're grading your spine. It sounds so terrible.

Dr Pompa 1:14:13

You know, so we don't need more horns. Right.

SPEAKER_00 1:14:15

We don't need more horns. And then the conductor is your nervous system. It's telling your organs what to do, how to function. You're either in fight or flight or your rest, digest, and repair. But that conductor, he is reading sheet music. He's getting that input from somewhere. That music should be from God. You should be reading God's music. You should not be reading the world's music, the the to-do list.

Dr Pompa 1:14:37

And that's that's back to 12-2. Don't be conformed to the patterns of this world, but transformed by the renewing of your mind. If you renew your mind, you're renewing your own.

SPEAKER_01 1:14:45

Yeah, I think that's it in a nutshell. I mean, that's the whole message. Yeah, it is the whole message.

Dr Pompa 1:14:49

But and I don't want this because I want her to hear that one more time, because she's ADD, right? So like I can study the word, right?

SPEAKER_01 1:14:56

But stop giving me that label. Hold on.

Dr Pompa 1:14:59

You give yourself that label.

SPEAKER_01 1:15:00

No, well, because you've told me so many times. I mean, what do you want me to call this? Lack of the code. Well, I don't know. Finish your thought, and then I'll tell you what to call it.

Dr Pompa 1:15:09

Whatever it is, we'll do. But that Italian word, I want you to repeat it, because if everybody can pick that scripture. Yes. Give some people some scriptures to start off with, right? So I want you to give like pick a couple scriptures you already did, 12-2, Romans 12-2. Start there. But and then just meditate on that. And it because everyone can do that. You can do that.

SPEAKER_00 1:15:32

I can do that. Yes. I actually have journals where anxiety. Here's all the scriptures for anxiety. Here's all the scriptures for where do they find your resources, by the way?

Dr Pompa 1:15:41

Give them that.

SPEAKER_00 1:15:42

Fastafaith.com.

Dr Pompa 1:15:43

Okay, fasttofaith.com.

SPEAKER_00 1:15:45

If you start incorporating Lectio Divina each morning, what I it's like baby stepping into it. You don't have to be afraid. You're gonna start to cultivate that relationship and hear from God. And maybe it's that your friend reaches out to you and says something that you were praying about. Maybe that's how you hear. Maybe it's not audible. Maybe it's a feeling you get. Don't be afraid of it, just be curious. And then maybe after you get a little bit comfortable doing this for a while, read the chapter that that scripture came from. You could Google it. You don't even need a Bible. I recommend getting a Bible. There's something amazing about that. Tangibly holding your Bible and underlining what you find important to you, and then going back and seeing what you read, but read the chapter, or maybe read the whole paragraph. You know, like just don't be afraid. Know that it's actually for you. It's your instruction manual on this darn body and in this mind. Like it's all in there, I promise you. Yeah. Yeah.

Dr Pompa 1:16:44

Yeah. I mean, those scriptures, uh you gave them a really good place to start. Are there any scriptures that you would say someone should focus on?

SPEAKER_01 1:16:53

Well, of course, you know, Romans or Romans uh 8 28 is our is always our family verse. Yes. Right. And I feel that you and I have definitely embodied that in our in our family.

SPEAKER_00 1:17:07

And you can actually choose to live a Romans 8.28 life. You can say, I'm gonna trust that it's all for my goodness, all glory. All things are working together. Yes. It might not look like it right now in this reality, in this realm, but spiritually it's on its way. Like he's making a way for us.

SPEAKER_01 1:17:25

And I love also um is it Ephesians 4, 13? And my God is able to do above all I can ask or imagine. Is that exactly? I'm not sure if that's it or not. So many good. But that's just one of my personal favorites because it's everything is trusting in him for what we're not. Right. And deleting him for more.

Dr Pompa 1:17:45

Well, she looks for that, and then but that scripture, then you're at say, Lord, what do you want to tell me in this?

SPEAKER_00 1:17:52

Yeah.

Dr Pompa 1:17:52

And it's that simple. What are you showing?

SPEAKER_00 1:17:54

Because we're always dealing with something, you know. In our day, we have a struggle that we're trying to figure out. He wants to give you input on that. He really does love you. He is a loving God, he cares about all the little details. He knows the numbers of hairs on your head. He knitted you in your mother's womb. Like he knows your life from beginning to end, and he wants to be a part of that. And so just invite him in and you'll be amazed at what happens.

Dr Pompa 1:18:21

See, ladies, if you're losing your hair, he knows the number. So you can tell him, okay, Lord, uh, you know the number. Let's not, let's not, let's have the same number more tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00 1:18:33

Right. Why are why am I losing this hair, Lord? And just ask him, you would be surprised. And I had to change how I prayed because the way I was taught, I was taught to beg and um just please, God, please, will you do this for me? Will you change my circumstances? And the truth is, he's trying to change you, he's trying to make you a better version of you that he knows you can be. And so maybe start asking, Lord, can you show me what you're trying to develop in me? What am I missing? What lesson am I supposed to learn that I've gone through this 10 times and I have not learned the lesson? Just tell me what it is. Like stop change how you're praying and just pray in a way that you believe it's gonna be done. If it's not good, he's not done yet. Like you have to just come from a different posture and perspective on it.

SPEAKER_01 1:19:21

Totally. Yeah. I love it. Well, that wasn't the right verse, but actually, this one's really good, I think, for just people to be encouraged. Um, 413, that is. Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. And I think that's just such a scripture one more time that's Ephesians 413. I want to see what that does to you.

SPEAKER_04 1:19:48

That's that's speaking to you in that.

SPEAKER_01 1:19:50

That is, that's so I didn't have the right verse, but it was the right one for this moment. I think so. Absolutely. So good.

Dr Pompa 1:19:57

I love what that is.

SPEAKER_01 1:19:57

And I tell you're wrapping it up, or I'll go get that one too. Go get that one too.

Dr Pompa 1:20:01

Go ahead. Go ahead, get that one too, because I do have one more question. Okay. Um, you know, uh just finishing off the fasting um conversation, right? So obviously, you know, we b both believe so strongly in fasting. So typically, where do you tell people to start with fasting if they want to add fasting in?

SPEAKER_00 1:20:21

So I created a 40-day progressive program where we first break up with sugar because everybody's on the standard American diet. They're all addicted to sugar. You might not realize it. It might be rice, it might be potatoes, it might be some drink that you're drinking.

Dr Pompa 1:20:37

Oh, it's in the drinks.

SPEAKER_00 1:20:39

Yeah, it's in the drinks. So it's the drinks. Yes. And a lot of this um I got from you in the beginning is to help them lead with healthy fats, fiber, and protein, and like actually get nourished before you try to start taking things away. And then you break up with the snacks and you do that type of thing. And then you can start to get a little bit more.

Dr Pompa 1:21:00

Yeah, because by the way, dessert after a meal, a good meal, is very different to your blood sugar and insulin than going through your kitchen and then you see the whatever it is, and you eat that sugar. 100% or straight up processed carb, blood sugar goes crazy. But after you just had a meal, grass-fed steak and butter and you know, vegetables, really different.

SPEAKER_00 1:21:24

Yeah, you don't even want that junk anymore. Like I can't even like I always think I want dessert, but after I eat the steak and all the l lovely food, I'm like, oh, maybe I'll have a bite, or I don't even want it anymore. The craving goes a bit.

Dr Pompa 1:21:40

It's like I'll take, you know, two or three bites and it's like perfect.

SPEAKER_00 1:21:45

Yeah. Yeah. Exactly.

Dr Pompa 1:21:46

And I not that I do it all the time, but if we're out to dinner, I will.

SPEAKER_00 1:21:50

So good. Yeah. So uh yeah.

Dr Pompa 1:21:53

At home. I may have to do that. Did you find it?

SPEAKER_01 1:21:55

I did. Oh, okay. So it's actually Ephesians 3.20, the one that I love. Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think according to the power that worketh in us. And I I just love that because that tells me that the very thing I love encouraging women to do is expect more from God. Yeah. We don't we don't have enough victory in our life because we don't think just like you said, right? They're they're talking of they're bemoaning themselves and why life is so hard and they're just going to feel this way, and this is just where they're at in life, and there's everybody's a victim. I have no patience for that. But that's because God has put a different song in my heart to encourage women with. So by the grace of God, I don't have that thinking. But we still have a responsibility to try to bring other people along for that ride until they have enough of their own encouragement and belief in themselves and in him mostly.

SPEAKER_00 1:22:52

Amen. And if you're really not sure about the Bible, start with some worship music. Like everybody loves music, just change what you're listening to. Absolutely. Yeah. They are singing the word of God over you. Yeah. And it gets into you and it starts to renew your subconscious mind. It really does. It's so powerful.

Dr Pompa 1:23:12

I just had a conversation with my assistant on the way down here, and she was asking me all these questions about um possession, demon, demonic spirits, ghosts in homes, to the point where I finally said, This is a concern. Are you concerned about this in your home? Right? Like, do you think you have a spat a demonic spirit in your home or you? Or, you know. Anyways, so she ended up saying that she's been watching all these vampire movies. And I said, see, so the fact is, is you're watching something and it's getting in your subconscious and see what it's doing to your thoughts. And I said, you know, I said, so talk to my son who has all these, I because I said, just start listening to the Bible. I said, fill your mind with that. Imagine what you'd be thinking right now. It's like, so fill your mind with the good stuff and watch how it changes your absolutely. Watch how it changes your body. Because I could see in the conversation, she had her cortisol up. She was thinking about things that she shouldn't even have been worried about, but it was planted in her mind because of things she was watching.

unknown 1:24:14

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 1:24:15

Oh my gosh. One of my favorite things to tell women who have trouble sleeping, get the Bible app, it's free. Turn on Psalms really low or any Bible, you know, chapter, and just start listening to that. You will fall back asleep. You will renew your mind without even trying. Exactly. It will shift everything for you. It's been so powerful to hear women go, oh my gosh, thank you for that. That was like the best advice ever. Yeah. And here's the danger Jesus says if you have one bad spirit lingering in the house and you clean him out, you get rid of him. If you don't replace him and bring something new into the house, he comes back with seven friends and you feel worse than you did before. So it's not enough to just say, I'm gonna stop watching the horror movies and and you know, watching the porn or doing whatever thing that you don't feel good about. You have to replace it with the word. You have to replace it with God. Absolutely.

Dr Pompa 1:25:19

Yeah, otherwise, some you know, yeah, they're coming back.

GLP-1 Drugs And Gut Fallout
Dr Pompa 1:25:22

I want you, I I want to finish with this right here, your perspective on GLP1s, because right now it's in vogue even in the healthy space. It's just low dose, right? And it's GLP1s and hormones. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_00 1:25:35

This could be a long conversation. I will wrap it up by saying um when I left my job as an OBGYN, I was focused on healing guts. I was the gutsy gynecologist because I realized your gut health determines your gyne health, it determines your overall health for so many things. And I unfortunately get a ton of patients who've been on GLP1s and they have terrible gut issues. It slows down the peristalsis, it slows your stomach emptying. And the longer stuff sits in your stomach and intestines, the more opportunity it has to multiply and uh grow overgrow. So I'm seeing SIBO and H. pylori and all of these infections and um heartburn and reflux. And so people are like, I just gotta go for another scope.

Dr Pompa 1:26:23

I just realizing that that's like some of the first signs of GLP1s.

SPEAKER_00 1:26:28

Right. And it's affecting their stomach acid levels and their digestive enzymes. And so they're getting malnourished in more ways than one because not only are they not eating, like it's almost impossible to eat a whole meal on a GLP one. You eat probably three or four bites, like you have no appetite. But now you're not absorbing your healthy fats, your vitamins, your minerals, any of those things. And so it is going to be a setup for disaster long term.

Dr Pompa 1:26:57

It's gonna blow up hard. What about the low dose? Uh, what would you say to the people going? Oh, I'm taking red at true tide low dose.

SPEAKER_00 1:27:05

So I wanted to guinea pig myself because of my autoimmune conditions. I have Hashimoto's and Ray nods and positive ANA marker with a high titer. Um, and so I was like, okay, let me see if it works for the inflammation, like they all tout it to be. I haven't noticed a difference in my labs. I haven't noticed a difference in my energy or my joint pain or any of those physical things. Um, but I did lose like three pounds and on a short person like me, it's a big deal.

SPEAKER_03 1:27:38

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 1:27:38

Um, so I only did that for probably two months because it scared me and made me nervous. And now I'm losing my hair because of it. So I'm glad I did it on myself instead of my patients. I wanted to see, like, can I support this? Can I offer this? And yeah, exactly. The answer is it's not necessary.

SPEAKER_03 1:27:59

Right.

SPEAKER_00 1:28:00

There are better ways to manage your autoimmune disease and not affect your gut and not have all the side effects long term. Because there's no way to it but through it.

Dr Pompa 1:28:09

Well, yeah, and when people do it, they do feel better in the beginning. Yeah. And then it they don't realize that it has a very slow treatment.

SPEAKER_00 1:28:16

I watched the mom at the lacrosse games eat their starbursts and continue to drink their Mountain Dews and all the things, and I'm just like, it's madness.

Dr Pompa 1:28:24

Yeah, it gives people permission to even to do that. One thing that I make people aware of is that in the health space, alternative space, people think GLP1, they're taking the peptide. It's not.

SPEAKER_00 1:28:38

They're taking a patented drug. That's right.

Dr Pompa 1:28:41

They're taking a drug. If they took the peptide GLP1, it would last about a minute in the body because you have an enzyme that breaks it down. Hmm, wonder why it breaks it down because it's not meant to be up long. But the one the drug that they're taking lasts six days, not one or two minutes. Think about that for a minute.

SPEAKER_00 1:28:58

Yeah. It's patented. That's how they make their money. If it was generic and just the peptide, nobody would be making money and it wouldn't cost a thousand dollars to pop. And I mean, now we're seeing it really cheap because you're figuring out how to get it from other countries. You don't know what's in that shot. I wouldn't trust that.

Dr Pompa 1:29:17

Yeah, and it is synthetic. And you know, again, six days, and there's a building effect that occurs. So if you're taking Lotus, it's just taking longer, but the body gets rid of it for a reason.

SPEAKER_00 1:29:29

Yeah, 100%.

Dr Pompa 1:29:30

Well,

Resources And Final Share Request
Dr Pompa 1:29:31

where do they find you on all the platforms, Doctor? Um they're gonna be looking because they want an expert.

SPEAKER_00 1:29:38

So Yeah, I love hanging out on Instagram at Gutsy Doctor Tabitha. I'm on Facebook, drtabitha. Umbarber. Yep. And then fast of faith.com is where we hang out. I have an incredible sisterhood of women. It's a beautiful community. I do live calls every Monday. I teach on all of this stuff. We do Lectio Divina together and then talk about what God says to us. We pray over each other. It is the most powerful community. I absolutely love it. And I have certified coaches who will help women go through the program. It's so good.

SPEAKER_02 1:30:11

That's great. That's great. That is great.
