Henrique and David launch their back-to-school action theme with listener Wolf’s recommendation, Toy Soldiers (1991). At Virginia’s Regis School, a private academy for rebellious boys, Colombian terrorist Luis Cali takes students and staff hostage while pursuing a federal judge’s son. Sean Astin stars as Billy Tepper, the troublemaker who organizes his friends inside the school, while Andrew Divoff plays Cali and Louis Gossett Jr. brings authority and warmth to Dean Parker.
The review follows Billy, Joey Trotta and their classmates as they map guard movements, relay intelligence and improvise a resistance under constant surveillance.
