The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996): Holiday Action Classic

The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996): Holiday Action Classic

Henrique Couto and David Denoyer launch into The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), Renny Harlin and Shane Black’s snow-covered Christmas action thriller. Geena Davis plays suburban teacher Samantha Caine, whose forgotten identity as lethal operative Charly Baltimore resurfaces after an accident. Samuel L. Jackson co-stars as private investigator Mitch Henessey, with Craig Bierko as Timothy. The hosts position the film as a witty, explosive alternative for viewers who have already memorized Die Hard.
Samantha has built a quiet family life despite having no memory of anything before she washed ashore eight years earlier. Reflexes with knives and weapons point to a hidden past, and Mitch’s investigation soon attracts violent figures who recognize her. Samantha’s transformation into Charly drives them toward Niagara Falls, where Timothy’s chemical-terror plot and the kidnapping of her daughter Caitlin turn an identity mystery into an enormous Christmas Eve rescue mission.
The episode celebrates Davis’s physical authority, comic timing and convincing shift between warm teacher and hardened assassin. Jackson gives Mitch humor, vulnerability and a satisfying redemption arc, while Bierko makes Timothy a personal as well as strategic threat. Henrique and David emphasize the film’s identity theme, quotable Shane Black dialogue, Christmas iconography and escalating practical mayhem, including a finale filled with fire, vehicles, ice, gunfire and exceptionally large explosions.
Production history covers Black’s record-setting screenplay sale and the substantially darker early script, which contained harsher backstories, more graphic violence and Mitch’s death. Test audiences responded so strongly to Jackson’s character that the ending was changed. The hosts also preserve David’s childhood blind-buy VHS discovery and Henrique’s introduction to the film, interrupted when a defective disc forced an emergency trip to Buybacks for a replacement copy.
Both hosts rate the film a “rent it,” with a strong buy recommendation for action devotees and physical-media collectors. They call Davis perfect in a role unlike much of her other work and argue that the holiday setting is more than decorative. Companion recommendations include Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Eraser and Lethal Weapon, extending the episode’s celebration of Shane Black dialogue and 1980s–1990s action filmmaking.

You Even? Movie? I'm your host Enrique Kuto here with

19
00:01:13.760 --> 00:01:18.239
double D Louis de Nooie, and we have a very

20
00:01:18.280 --> 00:01:21.040
special holiday episode for you all.

21
00:01:21.200 --> 00:01:21.719
Yes we do.

22
00:01:21.879 --> 00:01:25.319
Yeah, yeah, perhaps perhaps, But before we get to that,

23
00:01:25.959 --> 00:01:29.280
I have something I need to complain about. Okay, So

24
00:01:30.599 --> 00:01:35.359
my name Enrique Kuto. With the H yeah yeah yeah,

25
00:01:35.400 --> 00:01:38.680
with the h that's silent that that throws everybody. And

26
00:01:38.719 --> 00:01:41.680
then and then people get in they get self conscious too,

27
00:01:41.680 --> 00:01:43.280
because then they're like, oh, should I not have said

28
00:01:43.280 --> 00:01:45.519
Henry Kna. I'm like, no, it's fine. Yeah, you say

29
00:01:45.680 --> 00:01:48.200
h is all day long. You could say henri Que

30
00:01:48.560 --> 00:01:49.120
totally a right.

31
00:01:49.200 --> 00:01:50.400
A lot of my friends have been like, can I

32
00:01:50.400 --> 00:01:51.359
still call him like Henrick?

33
00:01:51.400 --> 00:01:51.760
Is that okay?

34
00:01:51.760 --> 00:01:53.599
I'm like, yeah, it's fine. You'd say both, It's fine.

35
00:01:53.680 --> 00:01:55.920
Yeah, it doesn't matter me. It's just when people say, hey,

36
00:01:55.959 --> 00:01:57.760
how do you say your name? Yeah, I will be

37
00:01:57.760 --> 00:02:01.719
like Enriquequez. But if they say, like, what's your name Enrique?

38
00:02:01.719 --> 00:02:04.319
But if they said, hey, Henrich, yes, yeah, yeah, it's fine.

39
00:02:04.480 --> 00:02:09.080
It doesn't bother me in the least. But having that

40
00:02:09.199 --> 00:02:14.400
first name combined with Kuto or Kotou and Portuguese Couto

41
00:02:14.639 --> 00:02:19.120
also not a common last name at all. It is

42
00:02:19.159 --> 00:02:22.000
not very few of us out there.

43
00:02:22.080 --> 00:02:22.400
Yeah.

44
00:02:23.759 --> 00:02:28.759
So I work in show business. You do, and one

45
00:02:28.759 --> 00:02:31.879
of the things you have to do is track what's

46
00:02:31.960 --> 00:02:37.000
going on in the world involving you and your product,

47
00:02:37.000 --> 00:02:40.479
whether it's movies, podcasts. So I have Google alerts set

48
00:02:40.520 --> 00:02:44.120
up to like, for instance, I have a Google alert

49
00:02:44.159 --> 00:02:47.400
setup for do you even movie in quotes? In case

50
00:02:47.599 --> 00:02:51.319
something somewhere posts about us. Yeah, I have one for

51
00:02:51.400 --> 00:02:53.400
my own name. I have one for every movie I've

52
00:02:53.400 --> 00:02:55.520
ever made. Stuff like that. Yeah, so I can find

53
00:02:55.560 --> 00:02:58.280
when people are blogging or news stories come out or whatever.

54
00:02:59.520 --> 00:03:04.800
Well I didn't know, Well now I know so much

55
00:03:04.840 --> 00:03:09.400
about it that apparently in Brazil, which is so that's

56
00:03:09.400 --> 00:03:12.360
the thing. Usually when I get a Google alert for

57
00:03:12.439 --> 00:03:14.479
my name and it's not me, it's a soccer player

58
00:03:14.840 --> 00:03:19.919
from Brazil, all of a sudden, my Google alert is

59
00:03:20.039 --> 00:03:24.400
full of notifications every hour because apparently there's a guy

60
00:03:24.479 --> 00:03:30.520
named Andrique Kotou Nobrega in Brazil who is currently negotiating

61
00:03:30.639 --> 00:03:34.319
like the biggest trade deal Brazil has ever had with

62
00:03:34.479 --> 00:03:40.280
China in the history of Brazil. They are publishing news

63
00:03:40.280 --> 00:03:47.639
stories hourly about this massive deal for days. So my

64
00:03:47.840 --> 00:03:53.199
feed is nothing, nothing but stuff about Brazilian trade, which,

65
00:03:53.240 --> 00:03:55.120
oddly enough, is one of the few hobbies I.

66
00:03:55.080 --> 00:03:56.439
Don't have, which is surprising.

67
00:03:56.400 --> 00:03:59.080
It is following Brazilian trade. Well, now I follow it.

68
00:03:59.159 --> 00:04:03.520
Well, now you have to. So I love that text

69
00:04:03.560 --> 00:04:05.840
you sent me yesterday. I was just like, that's hilarious.

70
00:04:06.120 --> 00:04:06.759
That was today?

71
00:04:07.000 --> 00:04:07.479
Was it today?

72
00:04:07.560 --> 00:04:07.840
Yeah?

73
00:04:07.879 --> 00:04:09.639
Goddamn the days are blending.

74
00:04:09.960 --> 00:04:15.000
Yeah, so that is annoying. I need my name to

75
00:04:15.039 --> 00:04:20.040
go back to being unusual again. Don't ever tell you

76
00:04:20.040 --> 00:04:21.600
about the time I got a review for my movie

77
00:04:21.639 --> 00:04:23.240
Bleeding Through and at the end of the review it

78
00:04:23.319 --> 00:04:26.120
said it said Enrique Kutos quickly becoming one of my

79
00:04:26.120 --> 00:04:27.319
favorite foreign filmmakers.

80
00:04:27.439 --> 00:04:28.800
Yeah, I remember you tell me that.

81
00:04:28.800 --> 00:04:31.040
That was fucking funny. That was like that was like

82
00:04:31.040 --> 00:04:34.240
like eleven years ago, while ago, but very very funny.

83
00:04:34.600 --> 00:04:37.680
So I've also done like I worked once for a

84
00:04:38.439 --> 00:04:41.839
university somewhere I won't say where. Yeah, and they sent

85
00:04:41.920 --> 00:04:44.680
me when they sent me my tax paperwork, they sent

86
00:04:44.720 --> 00:04:49.680
me a non citizen tax tax I don't know. Instead

87
00:04:49.680 --> 00:04:51.759
of a W nine you sent me. They sent me

88
00:04:51.800 --> 00:04:55.600
like the non citizen tax papers that's nuts. And I

89
00:04:55.639 --> 00:05:00.000
wrote them back and I was like, I may sound exotic, yeah,

90
00:05:00.199 --> 00:05:03.480
but I'm from Ohio, from Ohio, and I have a

91
00:05:03.480 --> 00:05:05.800
social Security number and it has my name on it.

92
00:05:06.040 --> 00:05:08.199
So if we could just just not you know, I

93
00:05:08.240 --> 00:05:10.480
was like, look, either either let me skip, you know,

94
00:05:10.519 --> 00:05:12.639
either pay me under the table, yeah, or pay me

95
00:05:12.680 --> 00:05:16.639
as a citizen I suppose. I guess, boy, that's boring.

96
00:05:17.120 --> 00:05:19.920
So I have something to report. No you don't, I

97
00:05:19.959 --> 00:05:21.680
saw wicked since last time.

98
00:05:21.839 --> 00:05:23.360
Oh yeah you did.

99
00:05:23.480 --> 00:05:25.839
I did yeah, it was. It was a spur of

100
00:05:25.839 --> 00:05:28.000
the moment thing. I had a friend text me and

101
00:05:28.399 --> 00:05:31.279
my roommate and I both were free this past Sunday,

102
00:05:31.279 --> 00:05:32.399
and she was like, you know, do you guys want

103
00:05:32.399 --> 00:05:34.879
to go see Wicked? And I had known ahead of

104
00:05:34.879 --> 00:05:37.199
time because I'm a nerd, so I deep dive on

105
00:05:37.240 --> 00:05:39.680
that stuff that this is technically Wicked Part one.

106
00:05:40.199 --> 00:05:42.800
Yeah. They started letting us know that right before it

107
00:05:42.839 --> 00:05:43.519
actually came out.

108
00:05:43.600 --> 00:05:46.279
So when the title screen pops up, it says Wicked Giant,

109
00:05:46.360 --> 00:05:49.040
and then then in the corner just says part one.

110
00:05:48.920 --> 00:05:49.360
Part one.

111
00:05:49.519 --> 00:05:53.279
Yeah. So two hours and forty minutes, and oh my god,

112
00:05:53.360 --> 00:05:55.519
yeah it was. And I knew that going in. I

113
00:05:55.720 --> 00:05:57.480
had had research ahead of time and whatnot. And I've

114
00:05:57.519 --> 00:06:00.600
got to say, overall, like I like The Wizard of Oz.

115
00:06:00.639 --> 00:06:02.399
I think it's a great movie. I usually will probably

116
00:06:02.480 --> 00:06:05.120
watch it like once a year, honestly, because I think

117
00:06:05.160 --> 00:06:08.279
it's just a mesmerizing film. I did not know a

118
00:06:08.360 --> 00:06:11.000
damn thing about Wicked, except for that it was a novel,

119
00:06:11.399 --> 00:06:13.920
it was a popular stage play. I knew a couple songs.

120
00:06:13.639 --> 00:06:15.600
From it, and I assume it takes place in Boston.

121
00:06:16.079 --> 00:06:19.319
In Boston, did you see that article. I think it was.

122
00:06:19.360 --> 00:06:21.040
I can't remember if it was a click, if it

123
00:06:21.079 --> 00:06:23.680
was hard Times or something, but it was like Boston's

124
00:06:23.680 --> 00:06:25.920
are having a hard time deciding if they're gonna go

125
00:06:25.920 --> 00:06:29.959
see Wicked or not, but can't stop talking about it.

126
00:06:30.079 --> 00:06:34.519
Solid Yeah, but anyway, so went to the theater saw it. Honestly,

127
00:06:34.920 --> 00:06:37.560
I'm gonna give it a four out of five. I

128
00:06:37.600 --> 00:06:39.720
actually had a really good time with it. If you're

129
00:06:39.759 --> 00:06:42.959
a musical fan, if you're not a musical fan, I

130
00:06:43.079 --> 00:06:44.800
think there's something to like in the movie for everybody,

131
00:06:44.839 --> 00:06:47.680
especially if you enjoyed The Wizard of Oz. It's basically

132
00:06:47.720 --> 00:06:50.959
the prequel story of Glinda and al Faba, who is

133
00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:54.399
the Alfaba al Faba who is the Wicked Witch of

134
00:06:54.399 --> 00:06:57.519
the West, becoming friends when they were in school together.

135
00:06:57.879 --> 00:07:00.160
It's basically the origin story of the Wicked Witch. I

136
00:07:00.480 --> 00:07:03.879
I gather you gather that from the title Wicked and

137
00:07:04.079 --> 00:07:05.839
having the Wicked Witch of the West on the cover.

138
00:07:05.959 --> 00:07:09.399
That's fair. Yes, yes, awesome, but no. Overall, like I thought,

139
00:07:09.399 --> 00:07:11.920
it was a fun movie. If you don't want to

140
00:07:11.959 --> 00:07:14.279
sit in the theater for almost three hours, then I

141
00:07:14.279 --> 00:07:16.560
would probably wait for streaming because I would honestly, bet

142
00:07:16.560 --> 00:07:18.600
it'll probably hit like the first part of January or

143
00:07:18.600 --> 00:07:19.279
so at this point.

144
00:07:20.160 --> 00:07:20.680
Yeah, I don't know.

145
00:07:20.759 --> 00:07:23.319
Popularity, it's hard to tell. But no, if you are

146
00:07:23.399 --> 00:07:25.240
Wizard of Oz fan, if you've been curious about it

147
00:07:25.319 --> 00:07:27.399
and you are looking for a fun time to the theater,

148
00:07:27.600 --> 00:07:29.439
it's a good time. It's got good songs. It's not

149
00:07:29.680 --> 00:07:32.800
a full on, like full blown musical, like there's maybe

150
00:07:34.240 --> 00:07:36.079
seven songs in the whole movie.

151
00:07:36.399 --> 00:07:38.079
Well, I mean, it's based on a book, which is

152
00:07:38.160 --> 00:07:40.759
which they then turned into a stage of stage play.

153
00:07:40.879 --> 00:07:43.959
Yeah, and the stage play apparently is only like three

154
00:07:44.000 --> 00:07:46.240
hours altogether. So the fact that they've broken it into

155
00:07:46.279 --> 00:07:47.959
what's going to be basically six hours to tell the

156
00:07:47.959 --> 00:07:50.319
whole story theatrically is pretty impressive.

157
00:07:50.680 --> 00:07:50.879
Yeah.

158
00:07:51.000 --> 00:07:52.560
That's that's the word. That's the word.

159
00:07:52.680 --> 00:07:53.240
Yeah.

160
00:07:53.279 --> 00:07:55.319
But no, if you're curious about Wicked, I had a

161
00:07:55.360 --> 00:07:57.800
lot of fun with it. It's it's uh. It did

162
00:07:57.839 --> 00:07:59.519
not feel long to me too. I will say that,

163
00:07:59.560 --> 00:08:01.279
even though it was like two and a half hours,

164
00:08:01.439 --> 00:08:03.720
didn't feel that long to me. So I was fine

165
00:08:03.759 --> 00:08:05.040
with it. But no, I give a wicket a four

166
00:08:05.040 --> 00:08:07.160
out of five if you are a fan, four out of.

167
00:08:07.120 --> 00:08:12.800
Five wow, wow, Okay, that's that's massive praise.

168
00:08:13.000 --> 00:08:15.279
I was so the first hour I was just like,

169
00:08:15.360 --> 00:08:18.480
this is fun, you know, cool, like I'm having a

170
00:08:18.480 --> 00:08:20.480
good time with it. And then it does something like

171
00:08:20.600 --> 00:08:22.839
right about the ninety one hundred minute mark where it

172
00:08:22.959 --> 00:08:24.800
just sucked me in and I was just like, Okay,

173
00:08:24.800 --> 00:08:26.680
I want to see what's going to happen now. So

174
00:08:26.720 --> 00:08:29.240
the storytelling is a little slow in the beginning because

175
00:08:29.240 --> 00:08:31.600
you're learning the characters, learning the institution they're going to

176
00:08:31.639 --> 00:08:34.399
and all that stuff. But and also I will say

177
00:08:34.399 --> 00:08:36.399
the plots kind of a bit jumbled that first hour

178
00:08:36.480 --> 00:08:39.279
as well. But once you get past that first hour mark,

179
00:08:39.360 --> 00:08:41.080
it really it did not feel long to me. By

180
00:08:41.120 --> 00:08:42.399
the time it was ending, I was like, yeah, this

181
00:08:42.440 --> 00:08:44.639
seems about right, like this is this is probably work,

182
00:08:44.720 --> 00:08:46.679
kind of like that time Hateful eight where we thought

183
00:08:46.679 --> 00:08:48.720
Hateful it was getting too long and then it ended.

184
00:08:49.120 --> 00:08:51.120
Yeah, it was like over almost right after I had

185
00:08:51.120 --> 00:08:52.960
started thinking how long have I been sitting here?

186
00:08:53.080 --> 00:08:55.159
So it's credits, but no four out of five for me.

187
00:08:55.200 --> 00:08:56.559
I gave it a four five on letter Box. I

188
00:08:56.559 --> 00:08:58.840
had a good time with it. I will probably watch

189
00:08:58.840 --> 00:09:00.320
it again when it comes out. I'm not going to

190
00:09:00.399 --> 00:09:02.480
rush out and see it by any means. But I'm

191
00:09:02.519 --> 00:09:04.799
excited for the second one to see where is going

192
00:09:04.840 --> 00:09:06.879
to go. So I give Wicked a seal of approval

193
00:09:06.919 --> 00:09:08.840
after a couple of weeks ago, kind of running it through.

194
00:09:08.759 --> 00:09:10.879
The dirt, running it through the dirt.

195
00:09:10.960 --> 00:09:12.759
Yeah, we said some shit about it.

196
00:09:12.799 --> 00:09:15.080
Not I'm not going to go see it.

197
00:09:16.320 --> 00:09:17.080
You're not gonna go see it.

198
00:09:17.120 --> 00:09:19.879
I mean I don't like so much at all. I mean,

199
00:09:20.159 --> 00:09:21.279
it's not in the Heights.

200
00:09:21.399 --> 00:09:23.039
You have a yeah, say you have, you have a

201
00:09:23.039 --> 00:09:24.879
couple that you'll let slip. But yeah, you are tough

202
00:09:24.879 --> 00:09:27.399
with musical by law. I had to like in the

203
00:09:27.440 --> 00:09:30.320
Height sing I'm an American Hispanic. It's a law. But

204
00:09:30.399 --> 00:09:32.879
have you seen Hamilton? Hell no, Yeah, I think.

205
00:09:32.759 --> 00:09:37.000
So, I don't doubt, I don't care, I don't.

206
00:09:37.080 --> 00:09:39.600
So Wicked gives Dave's seal of approval. Hen and it

207
00:09:39.639 --> 00:09:40.759
gives it whatever.

208
00:09:41.279 --> 00:09:43.799
Although honestly, if Hamilton in a movie, I probably would go.

209
00:09:43.840 --> 00:09:46.440
See that freaking thing that they released a Disney Plus

210
00:09:46.480 --> 00:09:49.080
was supposed to be theatrical, but then COVID happened and

211
00:09:49.120 --> 00:09:53.440
they dropped it on Disney Plus. Yeah, it's fun. I've

212
00:09:53.440 --> 00:09:54.360
watched it a couple of times.

213
00:09:54.639 --> 00:09:55.879
That's that's that's good.

214
00:09:57.559 --> 00:10:01.720
I've also literally like listened to Hamilton like driving to

215
00:10:01.759 --> 00:10:04.039
Wasteland because it's the perfect length of it, like a

216
00:10:04.039 --> 00:10:05.480
full CD for that drive.

217
00:10:07.000 --> 00:10:09.799
Well, it can't be a full CD because the CD

218
00:10:08.879 --> 00:10:09.559
seventy four.

219
00:10:10.919 --> 00:10:13.320
It's set. Yeah, it's a full set. By the time

220
00:10:13.360 --> 00:10:15.320
you're getting to the last song, you're arriving at the

221
00:10:15.720 --> 00:10:16.399
Royalton end.

222
00:10:18.600 --> 00:10:29.360
Do You Even? Movie will be right back, welcome back

223
00:10:29.440 --> 00:10:30.639
to Do You Even?

224
00:10:30.759 --> 00:10:31.120
Movie?

225
00:10:35.399 --> 00:10:39.240
I had the delight of having a cold. You did

226
00:10:39.320 --> 00:10:44.320
over the weekend to lead me right into holiday stuff,

227
00:10:44.440 --> 00:10:45.320
which is ideal.

228
00:10:45.519 --> 00:10:47.279
That was what you d do.

229
00:10:48.399 --> 00:10:49.960
It's what you I also had a cold at the

230
00:10:50.039 --> 00:10:52.840
end of October. Ye, possibly I gave it to you

231
00:10:52.960 --> 00:10:55.320
or you gave it to me. Well we will. There

232
00:10:55.399 --> 00:10:56.759
was like no way, no, we can ever know.

233
00:10:56.919 --> 00:10:59.159
It's like that time that you caught COVID mysteriously and

234
00:10:59.200 --> 00:11:00.720
I didn't have it. Your mom didn't have.

235
00:11:00.919 --> 00:11:03.000
Nobody I had come in any form of contact with

236
00:11:03.080 --> 00:11:04.120
hat it. Only I did.

237
00:11:05.000 --> 00:11:06.519
It must have been hiding in the house just waiting.

238
00:11:07.000 --> 00:11:08.519
But no, that was the worst part. So I get

239
00:11:08.600 --> 00:11:12.120
sick by like Thursday or Wednesday or Thursday, I'm full

240
00:11:12.159 --> 00:11:15.480
blown sick. But we had seen each other Friday and

241
00:11:15.679 --> 00:11:19.759
Sunday and Tuesday, and then you got sick that same

242
00:11:19.919 --> 00:11:24.039
so there's literally no way to know. And then Rachel

243
00:11:24.360 --> 00:11:26.480
didn't get sid and get sick. But this time around

244
00:11:26.480 --> 00:11:27.200
she made me sick.

245
00:11:27.720 --> 00:11:28.440
That sounds like her.

246
00:11:28.759 --> 00:11:33.039
Yeah, but I told her, Hey, I understand living together,

247
00:11:33.279 --> 00:11:36.200
sometimes we're going to make each other sick, sometimes literally

248
00:11:37.879 --> 00:11:41.399
solid Yeah, thank you. I really did say that to her. Yeah,

249
00:11:41.480 --> 00:11:43.759
you know it's you know, you pour your heart out

250
00:11:43.799 --> 00:11:46.360
over a couple of coney dogs. So but no, So

251
00:11:46.440 --> 00:11:49.000
I just want to mention that when I get sick

252
00:11:49.600 --> 00:11:52.639
like that, like the way I was, and very long,

253
00:11:52.679 --> 00:11:55.200
boring story short, I can't lay down when I sleep

254
00:11:55.279 --> 00:12:00.000
right now, which is sucks. It should hopefully be over

255
00:12:00.120 --> 00:12:03.279
and just under a yeah it's sleep apnea stuff. Yeah,

256
00:12:03.639 --> 00:12:09.519
sleep crapnia, that's what they should call it. But so

257
00:12:09.600 --> 00:12:13.159
I'm like on the couch, sitting up just like with

258
00:12:13.240 --> 00:12:16.720
a neck pillow, just like in and out of existence.

259
00:12:17.159 --> 00:12:19.360
So I put on I found out with my new

260
00:12:19.399 --> 00:12:22.960
iPhone I bought that I got three months of Apple Plus.

261
00:12:23.159 --> 00:12:25.559
So I put on Killers of the Flower Moon and

262
00:12:25.759 --> 00:12:27.960
just like drifted in and out of it for three

263
00:12:28.000 --> 00:12:33.120
hours seven minutes. I still like that movie. It really

264
00:12:33.240 --> 00:12:35.559
was good. But uh, but yeah, I would like in

265
00:12:35.759 --> 00:12:38.720
and out, in and out. Oh and then I watched.

266
00:12:38.399 --> 00:12:41.759
Wolves, and you didn't watch the director's cut of Napoleon.

267
00:12:41.960 --> 00:12:44.480
I thought about it. I was wondering, actually didn't want

268
00:12:44.519 --> 00:12:46.480
a movie with that much action because it wake me

269
00:12:46.559 --> 00:12:51.759
up too much. Speak for yourself, well, fair, jeez, dated

270
00:12:53.200 --> 00:12:55.159
like four times that day. Yeah, but you were like

271
00:12:55.480 --> 00:12:59.120
you were stupid. But but no, I but I watched Wolves,

272
00:12:59.639 --> 00:13:02.360
the movie with uh, Brad Piltney and George c. It

273
00:13:02.399 --> 00:13:03.559
was good. It was really good.

274
00:13:03.679 --> 00:13:04.720
Uh.

275
00:13:05.039 --> 00:13:09.480
It wasn't quite as jokey or as humorous. It was humorous,

276
00:13:09.480 --> 00:13:11.480
but it was it kind of It was a little

277
00:13:11.480 --> 00:13:13.000
more serious than I thought it would be. It was

278
00:13:13.000 --> 00:13:15.440
a little bit more complicated I thought it'd be, And honestly,

279
00:13:16.960 --> 00:13:21.720
I thought it was attempting ironically enough to be very

280
00:13:21.879 --> 00:13:25.679
like a Shane Black script. I could see that, which

281
00:13:25.759 --> 00:13:30.679
is the bizarrely perfect transition is indeed to us talking

282
00:13:30.720 --> 00:13:34.759
about tonight's movie The Long Kiss good Night from nineteen

283
00:13:35.159 --> 00:13:35.960
ninety six.

284
00:13:36.039 --> 00:13:40.159
We are kicking off our holiday lineup with a if

285
00:13:40.159 --> 00:13:43.159
you've seen die Hard the umpteenth time, and you're looking

286
00:13:43.240 --> 00:13:47.000
for a Christmas movie that has the balls, the villains,

287
00:13:47.279 --> 00:13:50.080
the jokes that die Hard does. I would say Long

288
00:13:50.120 --> 00:13:52.720
Kiss good Night is definitely a good contender with that.

289
00:13:52.919 --> 00:13:54.440
I would say so yeah.

290
00:13:54.639 --> 00:13:56.960
So The Long Kiss good Night from nineteen ninety six,

291
00:13:57.080 --> 00:14:00.159
two hours in one minute, rated R for a sob

292
00:14:00.200 --> 00:14:04.559
stantial amount of strong bloody violence and for strong language.

293
00:14:06.480 --> 00:14:06.720
All right.

294
00:14:06.720 --> 00:14:09.039
Director on the film is mister Rennie Harlan, who gets

295
00:14:09.039 --> 00:14:11.799
his start in nineteen eighty six with Born American. He

296
00:14:11.879 --> 00:14:14.399
goes on to shoot Prison in nineteen Direct Prison in

297
00:14:14.440 --> 00:14:16.039
nineteen eighty seven, followed by Renney.

298
00:14:16.080 --> 00:14:18.440
Harlan's first film was Born in America or an American

299
00:14:18.919 --> 00:14:21.240
because he wasn't, No, he was not. He was born

300
00:14:21.279 --> 00:14:22.000
in like Sweden.

301
00:14:22.080 --> 00:14:24.240
Yeah, he had a couple of short films went on there,

302
00:14:24.240 --> 00:14:26.440
but like his first theatrical was that R first feature

303
00:14:26.519 --> 00:14:27.519
was that one'.

304
00:14:27.320 --> 00:14:30.120
It's Just Funny from Sweden. He made Born American.

305
00:14:29.919 --> 00:14:32.759
Prison in nineteen eighty seven, Night Mary Elm Street for

306
00:14:33.000 --> 00:14:35.759
the dream Master in nineteen eighty eight, My favorite, It's

307
00:14:35.799 --> 00:14:38.440
a good one. Wild Force. The band did a music

308
00:14:38.480 --> 00:14:41.200
video Sophia in eighty eight did another Wild Force vehicle

309
00:14:41.200 --> 00:14:43.320
in a video in eighty eight called I Want You

310
00:14:43.399 --> 00:14:45.840
to Stay Then in nineteen ninety, directs Die.

311
00:14:45.799 --> 00:14:48.159
Hard to one of my favorite movies, too.

312
00:14:48.320 --> 00:14:50.320
Follows that up with the Adventures of Ford Fairlane in

313
00:14:50.399 --> 00:14:54.639
nineteen ninety Cappy Cappy follows that up with Cliffhanger in

314
00:14:54.720 --> 00:14:57.639
nineteen ninety three. I love Cliff Hanger's fun. Did you

315
00:14:57.679 --> 00:15:00.320
see we're getting a remake? Oh my god, I think

316
00:15:00.320 --> 00:15:02.399
it's going It might be going direct to streaming. They've

317
00:15:02.399 --> 00:15:04.759
got a poster out right now. I wouldn't it's gender swapped.

318
00:15:04.879 --> 00:15:10.879
Uh really, I mean, I'm not even trying to be

319
00:15:10.960 --> 00:15:12.039
an edge lord about it.

320
00:15:12.039 --> 00:15:12.639
It's just like.

321
00:15:14.519 --> 00:15:17.360
In the movie Stallone's character. The whole point of why

322
00:15:17.440 --> 00:15:21.120
he's the Cliffhanger, I'm just gonna call that is that

323
00:15:21.200 --> 00:15:23.440
he's like a buff dude who can like pull people

324
00:15:23.519 --> 00:15:24.519
up when they're gonna die.

325
00:15:24.639 --> 00:15:26.720
They're doing the exact same pose on the post or

326
00:15:26.720 --> 00:15:28.799
two for the new one. That's the thing they've remive

327
00:15:28.840 --> 00:15:29.240
me so far.

328
00:15:29.279 --> 00:15:32.679
It seems a little odd, but I'm surprised it's not

329
00:15:32.720 --> 00:15:33.320
a mini series.

330
00:15:33.519 --> 00:15:38.080
I'm too, honestly so. Cliffhanger in nineteen ninety three, Gladiatoriot

331
00:15:38.279 --> 00:15:40.759
in nineteen ninety three, follows that up with a little

332
00:15:40.759 --> 00:15:44.320
film in nineteen ninety five called Cutthroat Island and talk

333
00:15:44.360 --> 00:15:48.600
about a cutthroat production for mister Harlan Unfortunately. Yeah, The

334
00:15:48.639 --> 00:15:50.840
Long Kiss Good Night follows that in nineteen eighty six,

335
00:15:50.879 --> 00:15:53.120
followed by Deep Blue Sea in nineteen ninety nine, Deepest

336
00:15:53.120 --> 00:15:55.000
Bluest the music video four Deep lu See with Ella

337
00:15:55.039 --> 00:15:58.320
cool J. He also directs tracks in two thousand, Driven

338
00:15:58.360 --> 00:16:01.000
in two thousand and one, Minehunter in two thousand and four,

339
00:16:01.320 --> 00:16:03.320
Exorcists the Beginning in two thousand and four, as well

340
00:16:03.360 --> 00:16:05.600
The Covenant in two thousand and six, then goes on

341
00:16:05.679 --> 00:16:07.559
to do The Cleaner with Samuel Jackson in two thousand

342
00:16:07.559 --> 00:16:07.879
and seven.

343
00:16:07.919 --> 00:16:10.320
I like that movie Solid. That was a random Netflix

344
00:16:10.360 --> 00:16:12.240
fine for me. I didn't when I started playing it.

345
00:16:12.279 --> 00:16:13.679
All of a sudden, I went Rennie Harlan.

346
00:16:13.840 --> 00:16:17.200
That was a Circle K DVD buy from my parents'

347
00:16:17.240 --> 00:16:19.080
house when I lived there back in the day. A

348
00:16:19.440 --> 00:16:22.399
Nice followed that up with Twelve Rounds in two thousand

349
00:16:22.399 --> 00:16:24.440
and nine, Five Days of War in twenty eleven, does

350
00:16:24.440 --> 00:16:27.000
episodes of Bird Notice in twenty eleven, coverd affairs in

351
00:16:27.039 --> 00:16:30.440

352
00:16:30.559 --> 00:16:34.759
Legend of Hercules in twenty fourteen, Skip Trace in twenty sixteen,

353
00:16:34.799 --> 00:16:36.799
which is the Johnny Knoxville Jackie Chan film.

354
00:16:37.279 --> 00:16:39.480
Oh yeah, I like Skip Trace.

355
00:16:39.480 --> 00:16:41.559
Legend of the Ancient Sword in twenty eighteen, Bodies at

356
00:16:41.600 --> 00:16:44.679
Rest twenty nineteen, The Misfits twenty twenty one, Refuge in

357
00:16:44.720 --> 00:16:46.919
twenty twenty three, The Brick Layer in twenty twenty three,

358
00:16:47.039 --> 00:16:50.080
and most recently The Strangers chapter one in twenty twenty four,

359
00:16:50.159 --> 00:16:51.919
Chapter two of course coming next year.

360
00:16:52.200 --> 00:16:54.080
I really liked The Strangers Chapter two.

361
00:16:54.279 --> 00:16:56.120
It got shipped on by a lot of people.

362
00:16:56.159 --> 00:16:59.720
But it but a lot of people bought tickets for it.

363
00:16:59.879 --> 00:17:02.159
Is very true as well. Our writer on the film,

364
00:17:02.240 --> 00:17:04.720
as Enrique mentioned, is mister Shane Black. We talked about

365
00:17:04.759 --> 00:17:07.079
this gentleman with The Last Boy Scout a couple episodes ago.

366
00:17:07.160 --> 00:17:10.640
He writes nineteen eighty seven's Lethal Weapon The Monster Squad

367
00:17:10.640 --> 00:17:12.720
in eighty seven as well Lethal Weapon two. He gets

368
00:17:12.759 --> 00:17:15.000
a character in story credit on The Last Boy Scout.

369
00:17:15.000 --> 00:17:17.359
In ninety one he gets screenplay credit leath the Weapon three,

370
00:17:17.400 --> 00:17:19.799
and ninety two gets character credit Last Action Hero in

371
00:17:19.880 --> 00:17:22.000

372
00:17:22.160 --> 00:17:24.319
Leath the Weapon four in ninety eight, gets characters and

373
00:17:24.400 --> 00:17:27.240

374
00:17:27.359 --> 00:17:30.359

375
00:17:30.599 --> 00:17:32.920

376
00:17:32.960 --> 00:17:36.039
twenty sixteen as well, and The Predator in twenty eighteen.

377
00:17:36.839 --> 00:17:39.079
Man, that is a hell of a the hell of

378
00:17:39.079 --> 00:17:39.480
a lineup.

379
00:17:39.559 --> 00:17:43.079
Yeah. Moving down to our cinematographer, we have Gueromo Navarro,

380
00:17:43.160 --> 00:17:45.720
who gets his start in nineteen eighty six with a

381
00:17:45.839 --> 00:17:48.599
more a la oh God, I wrote this and I

382
00:17:48.680 --> 00:17:50.759
don't that right there?

383
00:17:51.480 --> 00:17:56.400
Oh a moore a La vueta velta jelte de la.

384
00:17:56.759 --> 00:18:00.880
Esquina escina in nineteen eighty six, Bath Through Intimacy in

385
00:18:00.960 --> 00:18:04.720

00:18:04.839 --> 00:18:06.960

388
00:18:09.599 --> 00:18:12.079
ninety four, The Cisco Kid in nineteen ninety four. Then

389
00:18:12.119 --> 00:18:15.640
in nineteen ninety five he shoots a little film called Desperado.

390
00:18:16.440 --> 00:18:19.240
Oh so he does a cinematography on Desperado, follows it

391
00:18:19.359 --> 00:18:21.559
up with Four Rooms in nineteen ninety five, From Dust Hill,

392
00:18:21.599 --> 00:18:24.119
Dawn in nineteen ninety six, Dream for an Insomniac in

393
00:18:24.200 --> 00:18:26.000
ninety six, as well The Long Kiss Good Night in

394
00:18:26.079 --> 00:18:29.839
ninety six, Spawn in nineteen ninety seven, Jackie Brown, Salsa

395
00:18:29.839 --> 00:18:33.599

397
00:18:38.279 --> 00:18:41.079
Nativity Story, Night at the Museum, hell Boy two, I

398
00:18:41.119 --> 00:18:44.559
Am Number four, The Resident, which was that Hammer comeback film.

399
00:18:44.799 --> 00:18:47.079
Oh Yeah, Okay Yeah, follows.

400
00:18:46.720 --> 00:18:49.839
That up with Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part one, Mockingbird Lane,

401
00:18:49.839 --> 00:18:52.759
which was the failed relaunch of the Monsters.

402
00:18:53.119 --> 00:18:54.680
Deeply failed, deeply failed.

403
00:18:54.759 --> 00:18:58.119
Yeah, Twilight Saga Breaking Down Part two in twenty twelve,

404
00:18:58.200 --> 00:19:00.960
Pacific Rim twenty thirteen, Museum s Here to the Twobe

405
00:19:00.960 --> 00:19:04.680

406
00:19:05.200 --> 00:19:08.799
Godfather of Harlem in twenty nineteen, Doolittle and The Unforgivable

407
00:19:08.839 --> 00:19:09.759
in twenty twenty one.

408
00:19:10.160 --> 00:19:12.440
Man That is a lot of great sh shooting.

409
00:19:12.119 --> 00:19:15.200
Both Jackie Brown from dust till Dawn is one thing,

410
00:19:15.240 --> 00:19:17.759
but then Desperado Devil's back. But I mean he worked

411
00:19:17.759 --> 00:19:19.599
with Del Toro several times.

412
00:19:19.960 --> 00:19:22.039
Yeah, really good. A lot of good stuff.

413
00:19:22.480 --> 00:19:24.960
Moving down here, I'm to be synopsis It says government

414
00:19:25.039 --> 00:19:28.920
agents come for annisiak, woman who gradually remembers her past.

415
00:19:29.680 --> 00:19:35.599
I mean that's a little sparse. Jesus.

416
00:19:36.000 --> 00:19:38.960
My synopsis says Samantha Caine has been living a peaceful

417
00:19:38.960 --> 00:19:40.839
life for eight years until a bump on the head

418
00:19:40.880 --> 00:19:43.000
results in memories resurvicing of her old life as a

419
00:19:43.039 --> 00:19:47.000
lethal secret agent. I guess I could have said government assassin.

420
00:19:47.119 --> 00:19:47.519
Damn it.

421
00:19:48.240 --> 00:19:52.440
Yeah, I mean that's like kicking a seven year old

422
00:19:52.480 --> 00:19:56.519
and taking his bike, Like you won, it's yours. It's

423
00:19:56.519 --> 00:19:56.799
a win.

424
00:19:57.680 --> 00:19:59.960
Moving down to our tag lines, we have the most

425
00:20:00.079 --> 00:20:02.319
spectacular action scenes you've ever seen.

426
00:20:03.599 --> 00:20:06.599
I mean that's not I mean, this movie is pretty

427
00:20:06.640 --> 00:20:07.440
freaking crazy.

428
00:20:07.519 --> 00:20:10.240
Yeah. Then we have eight years ago. She lost her memory.

429
00:20:10.359 --> 00:20:12.680
Now a detective must help her remember the past before

430
00:20:12.680 --> 00:20:15.599
it buries them both. What's forgotten is not always gone.

431
00:20:16.480 --> 00:20:18.599
That's supposed to be a tag line in the tagline

432
00:20:18.640 --> 00:20:19.480
section on IMDb.

433
00:20:19.640 --> 00:20:20.920
That's a long tagline.

434
00:20:20.920 --> 00:20:22.480
Those are the only two, believe it or not.

435
00:20:23.079 --> 00:20:26.359
Usually a movie only has one tagline, yeah, unless you're

436
00:20:26.359 --> 00:20:29.599
blood Rage. Well, well, most movies only have one title.

437
00:20:29.720 --> 00:20:32.880
That's also true unless your Nightmare in Shadow Woods also true?

438
00:20:32.920 --> 00:20:46.599
Again, do You Even? Movie? Will be right back, Welcome

439
00:20:46.680 --> 00:20:48.160
back to Do You Even?

440
00:20:48.279 --> 00:20:50.079
Movie?

441
00:20:53.559 --> 00:20:56.160
The Long Guest, Good Night currently streaming on Paramount Plus.

442
00:20:56.200 --> 00:20:58.480
You can also rent it on a Rent it or

443
00:20:58.519 --> 00:21:01.079
by it on Prime Fandango any place you get your videos.

444
00:21:01.119 --> 00:21:03.119
I will say the Blu ray I believe is still

445
00:21:03.160 --> 00:21:06.519
fairly cheap and there has not been a four K

446
00:21:06.599 --> 00:21:08.279
or anything yet, so that's the only version you can

447
00:21:08.279 --> 00:21:08.599
get of it.

448
00:21:09.079 --> 00:21:11.880
And it looks and sounds great, looks good. We was

449
00:21:12.119 --> 00:21:14.359
rocking my whole living room on the surround system.

450
00:21:14.480 --> 00:21:16.839
Yes, it was moving down to our cast. We have

451
00:21:16.960 --> 00:21:20.240
Geena Davis who plays Samantha Caine slash Charlie in this.

452
00:21:20.480 --> 00:21:22.640
She gets her started in nineteen eighty two on Tootsie,

453
00:21:22.920 --> 00:21:25.519
follows it up A night Rider in eighty three, Buffalo Bill,

454
00:21:25.720 --> 00:21:29.160
Fantasy Island, Family Ties, Redminton Steel in nineteen eighty five,

455
00:21:29.359 --> 00:21:32.359

456
00:21:32.400 --> 00:21:35.759
six five thousand, The Fly in eighty six, Beetlejuice in

457
00:21:35.799 --> 00:21:37.920
eighty eight, Earth Girls Are Easy in eighty eight, The

458
00:21:37.920 --> 00:21:41.039
Accidental Taurus Quick Change in nineteen ninety, Felmo and Luiez

459
00:21:41.079 --> 00:21:43.480
in ninety one, A League of their Own in ninety two,

460
00:21:43.920 --> 00:21:48.000
Hero in ninety two, Angie in ninety four, Speechless, Cutthroat Island,

461
00:21:48.039 --> 00:21:50.400
The Long Kiss, Good Night, Stuart Little, The Geena Davis

462
00:21:50.400 --> 00:21:52.079
Show in two thousand, which I did not even know

463
00:21:52.160 --> 00:21:52.519
was a thing.

464
00:21:53.240 --> 00:21:55.279
Really, yeah, I didn't know that at all.

465
00:21:55.359 --> 00:22:00.400
It went from two thousand to two thousand and one,

466
00:22:01.079 --> 00:22:03.799
Stuart Little two in two thousand and two, Will and

467
00:22:03.839 --> 00:22:06.839
Grace Commander in Chief in two thousand and five, Accidents Happen,

468
00:22:07.200 --> 00:22:11.400

469
00:22:11.440 --> 00:22:14.440
The Extosist Series in twenty sixteen, Gray's Anatomy twenty sixteen,

470
00:22:14.559 --> 00:22:17.759
Glow Series in twenty nineteen, Ava in twenty twenty, and

471
00:22:17.880 --> 00:22:20.160
most recently this year was in Blink twice.

472
00:22:21.759 --> 00:22:23.359
She's the Mom. Yeah, she was the mom.

473
00:22:23.400 --> 00:22:24.920
Shit's really good, really good in that.

474
00:22:25.000 --> 00:22:27.960
But you know what she wasn't in what Beetle Juice.

475
00:22:28.000 --> 00:22:28.519
Beetle Juice.

476
00:22:28.519 --> 00:22:30.200
She was not in Beetle Juice Beetle Juice. No, but

477
00:22:30.359 --> 00:22:32.960
you know who was though, Jeffrey Jones.

478
00:22:32.799 --> 00:22:37.880
His face and is likenes that's talking about his clamation self.

479
00:22:38.119 --> 00:22:40.160
Aye yye yi oil Boy.

480
00:22:40.880 --> 00:22:43.799
Samuel Jackson plays Mitch Hennessee in the film two hundred

481
00:22:43.839 --> 00:22:46.039
and four credits on this gentleman's resume. By the way,

482
00:22:47.039 --> 00:22:50.359
how many two hundred and four, two hundred and four,

483
00:22:50.440 --> 00:22:53.200
this isn't a bridged version of his of his resume

484
00:22:53.440 --> 00:22:56.240
to three all two hundred and four, My god. So

485
00:22:56.400 --> 00:22:58.839
starting in eighty one, big big role for him was

486

503
00:23:47.000 --> 00:23:49.759
The list goes on and I love that's a really

504
00:23:49.799 --> 00:23:51.960
good dude. We bought it over that early in our friendship.

505
00:23:52.039 --> 00:23:53.119
Yeah, that's a really good thing.

506
00:23:53.200 --> 00:23:54.759
I really like. Have you seen Solman with him and

507
00:23:54.759 --> 00:23:55.839
Bernie Bernie mack?

508
00:23:56.359 --> 00:23:57.680
No, that sounds awesome.

509
00:23:57.680 --> 00:23:59.759
There are MB singers that are doing a reunion tour

510
00:24:00.119 --> 00:24:01.880
and they're traveling out in the car.

511
00:24:02.079 --> 00:24:03.319
Did I not see that, dude?

512
00:24:03.319 --> 00:24:04.160
It's so funny.

513
00:24:04.200 --> 00:24:05.240
Oh, that sounds great.

514
00:24:05.839 --> 00:24:07.920
Rapping us up on our cast is Craig Berko, who

515
00:24:07.960 --> 00:24:10.440
plays Timothy in the film. He gets a start in

516
00:24:10.480 --> 00:24:12.640
nineteen seventy three on The Young and the Restless, followed

517
00:24:12.640 --> 00:24:15.440

in nineteen ninety four, The Long Kiss of Night in

00:24:25.519 --> 00:24:28.880
ninety six, Till Till There Was You in ninety seven,

Sour Grapes, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Matt About You,

523
00:24:32.079 --> 00:24:35.480
The Suburbans, The Thirteenth Floor, Ally mcbeal's Sex in the City,

524
00:24:35.759 --> 00:24:40.720
Dicky Roberts, Formal Child, Star Ah A Classic Danica, Cinderella Man,

525
00:24:40.799 --> 00:24:44.720
Scary Movie Four, Boston Legal, Nip Tuck, Superhero Movie, Headcase,

526
00:24:44.799 --> 00:24:48.359
The Good Wife, Damages The League, The Change Up, The Mentalists,

527
00:24:48.400 --> 00:24:52.319
The Three Stooges, Elementary, Unforgettable, Hot in Cleveland, Catfight in

528
00:24:52.359 --> 00:24:55.000
twenty sixteen, Blue Budge twenty eighteen, The Blacklist in twenty

529
00:24:55.000 --> 00:24:57.000
twenty two, and most recently was on the new Curb

530
00:24:57.039 --> 00:24:58.400
Your Enthusiasm in twenty twenty four.

531
00:24:58.720 --> 00:25:01.079
Wow. Yeah, guy's been working.

532
00:25:01.160 --> 00:25:03.359
He definitely has been working. So what was your first

533
00:25:03.400 --> 00:25:05.200
time seeing The Long Kiss Good Night?

534
00:25:05.240 --> 00:25:05.400
Sir?

535
00:25:05.680 --> 00:25:07.519
You showed it to me, did I? Yeah?

536
00:25:07.599 --> 00:25:09.960
You want to know how I remember that because my

537
00:25:10.000 --> 00:25:11.559
Blu Ray fucked up and we had to go to

538
00:25:11.559 --> 00:25:13.880
buybacks to buy a new copy while we were watching it.

539
00:25:14.160 --> 00:25:17.000
Holy crap that did happen.

540
00:25:18.400 --> 00:25:20.960
And my buybacks receipt is still in that copy up there.

541
00:25:22.720 --> 00:25:23.759
That is hilarious.

542
00:25:23.839 --> 00:25:26.440
Yeah, we had literally gotten through like maybe the first

543
00:25:26.480 --> 00:25:28.559
like minute of credits and then it just started like

544
00:25:28.680 --> 00:25:31.799
glitching out and pixelating really bad. So then we had

545
00:25:31.799 --> 00:25:34.960
to tribe to buy backs, which luckily they.

546
00:25:34.839 --> 00:25:38.240
Had one, which shockingly they had one. Yeah there was

547
00:25:38.319 --> 00:25:39.200
one back. Yeah then.

548
00:25:40.920 --> 00:25:45.119
But yeah, no, I I this movie fell into into

549
00:25:45.160 --> 00:25:48.440
my ubra because it was a blind by VHS purchase

550
00:25:48.480 --> 00:25:50.480
at a flea market back in Piqua when I was

551
00:25:50.519 --> 00:25:53.319
a kid still getting VHS tapes, and I remember the

552
00:25:53.359 --> 00:25:56.039
guy had had a sale that was like, you know, by,

553
00:25:56.279 --> 00:25:58.000
I think it was like by four get the first

554
00:25:58.039 --> 00:25:59.680
to get the fifth free, and I think they were

555
00:25:59.720 --> 00:26:02.799
all basically the same price, so I remember the exact

556
00:26:02.799 --> 00:26:06.599
stack I got. I went home with Fright Night, Money Talks,

557
00:26:07.000 --> 00:26:09.839
Fast On, Druge, Matt High, True Romance, and The Long

558
00:26:09.920 --> 00:26:12.920
Kiss Good Night, and I watched all five of those

559
00:26:13.000 --> 00:26:14.200
like as soon as I got home.

560
00:26:15.039 --> 00:26:16.640
I mean that's a pretty solid stack.

561
00:26:16.720 --> 00:26:19.079
Yeah, And I remember I think I was watching The

562
00:26:19.119 --> 00:26:21.880
Long Kiss either first or second. I can't remember if

563
00:26:21.960 --> 00:26:23.440
True Romance was high on the list because I think

564
00:26:23.440 --> 00:26:24.799
that was the first time ever saw true Romance. So

565
00:26:24.839 --> 00:26:26.559
I think I saw True Romance and The Long Kiss

566
00:26:26.559 --> 00:26:29.119
good Night back to back for their first times nice,

567
00:26:29.440 --> 00:26:32.720
So it was being I was just blown away by

568
00:26:32.720 --> 00:26:37.079
this movie. Obviously, the action somehow gets crazier in scenes,

569
00:26:37.119 --> 00:26:40.240
the jokes are hilarious, and overall the story just unfolds

570
00:26:40.319 --> 00:26:43.720
to a really good thriller and just it's Renny Harlan,

571
00:26:43.799 --> 00:26:45.160
You're not gonna have a bad time.

572
00:26:45.640 --> 00:26:48.640
Well, I think that what the film does is it

573
00:26:48.839 --> 00:26:53.359
escalates like double time every time, yeah, which at first

574
00:26:53.440 --> 00:26:55.519
is a little exciting, and then by the middle it's

575
00:26:55.599 --> 00:26:57.680
quite a bit exciting, and by the end it's insane.

576
00:26:57.720 --> 00:27:01.000
It's insane because it'll be like, oh, car exploded, Well,

577
00:27:01.000 --> 00:27:04.880
now everything's gonna do, everything's gonna explain, and then you're like, oh,

578
00:27:04.920 --> 00:27:07.400
now everything explodes, Like no, now literally everything's going to.

579
00:27:07.839 --> 00:27:09.680
And now cars are raining from the sky on fire.

580
00:27:09.839 --> 00:27:12.480
Yeah yeah, no, like for real. It's just it's an

581
00:27:12.519 --> 00:27:14.200
exercise and ESCALATIONI.

582
00:27:13.960 --> 00:27:15.720
Yeah, So are you ready to get into it?

583
00:27:16.000 --> 00:27:17.279
Why the hell not? All right?

584
00:27:17.359 --> 00:27:20.160
So we open with shots of we see handwriting that

585
00:27:20.240 --> 00:27:24.119
says Charlene Elizabeth Baltimore. We see shots of a handgun.

586
00:27:24.240 --> 00:27:26.960
We see some cryptic pictures and whatnot that we're not

587
00:27:27.000 --> 00:27:29.359
putting together. But we also see a nice Christmas setting.

588
00:27:29.359 --> 00:27:31.599
They're panning through a house. We see some Christmas gifts,

589
00:27:31.599 --> 00:27:33.880
some decor, a nice family portrait.

590
00:27:34.039 --> 00:27:36.559
Well, yeah, it's the holidays, and.

591
00:27:36.359 --> 00:27:38.839
We also cut to a Christmas parade as we see

592
00:27:38.920 --> 00:27:42.079
various floats horses. We also see Samantha Cane played by

593
00:27:42.119 --> 00:27:44.279
Geena Davis, and she tells us that she was born

594
00:27:44.359 --> 00:27:47.000
eight years ago on a beach in New Jersey, washed

595
00:27:47.079 --> 00:27:49.160
up pregnant on a shore with a blank key, and

596
00:27:49.200 --> 00:27:51.480
that was the only memory that she has of anything

597
00:27:51.519 --> 00:27:52.039
before then.

598
00:27:52.519 --> 00:27:56.039
And I mean, there aren't many worse fates than washing

599
00:27:56.119 --> 00:27:58.599
up on the shore of New Jersey, but fair enough.

600
00:27:58.680 --> 00:28:02.640
She says that she has photo retrograde amnesia, which basically

601
00:28:03.200 --> 00:28:05.920
makes it so that she cannot recall anything from the past.

602
00:28:05.960 --> 00:28:08.440
But definitely there is a past life that we have

603
00:28:08.519 --> 00:28:09.599
not gotten into at all yet.

604
00:28:09.599 --> 00:28:09.880
Clearly.

605
00:28:10.000 --> 00:28:12.400
Yeah, so she is a teacher now. She has a

606
00:28:12.440 --> 00:28:14.759
little girl named Caitlin. She has a guy that she's

607
00:28:14.759 --> 00:28:16.920
seeing name how We see them walking through the snow

608
00:28:17.039 --> 00:28:19.279
having a good time. We also cut to her daughter

609
00:28:19.319 --> 00:28:21.400
and her friend in a treehouse as her daughters explaining

610
00:28:21.440 --> 00:28:26.720
the issue with her amnesia to her friend, and Samantha

611
00:28:26.759 --> 00:28:28.920
pops up and she's just like, hey, Caitlin, can you

612
00:28:28.960 --> 00:28:31.279
help me in the kitchen? Also, do you remember where

613
00:28:31.279 --> 00:28:33.079
it is? And like just joking with her, like really

614
00:28:33.119 --> 00:28:33.680
cute stuff.

615
00:28:33.759 --> 00:28:36.160
Yeah, Yeah, it's you know, it's very clear that she's

616
00:28:36.240 --> 00:28:37.319
digging the mom life.

617
00:28:37.400 --> 00:28:39.440
Yeah, and she's also very well loved in the community,

618
00:28:39.480 --> 00:28:40.960
as we see in the next scene as her and

619
00:28:40.960 --> 00:28:43.160
how are having a Chris's party with friends. Hale gives

620
00:28:43.200 --> 00:28:45.119
a really funny toast where he basically says that he

621
00:28:45.160 --> 00:28:48.759
doesn't swear, smoke or drink. Oh shit, I do smoke

622
00:28:48.799 --> 00:28:49.240
and drink.

623
00:28:49.720 --> 00:28:51.319
Yeah, it's pretty solid, pretty funny.

624
00:28:51.319 --> 00:28:54.000
And also at this point, Gena Davis catches a kid Ronald's,

625
00:28:54.000 --> 00:28:56.000
smoking at the party and she tries to steal a

626
00:28:56.000 --> 00:28:57.920
cigarette and tries to steal a cigarette and she just

627
00:28:57.960 --> 00:29:00.279
basically tells him, no, have a cookie instead, and that

628
00:29:00.319 --> 00:29:01.400
may come back in the well.

629
00:29:01.400 --> 00:29:03.839
Well. She tells him that if if she catches him

630
00:29:03.839 --> 00:29:05.920
smoking one of those, he'll be he's gonna wind up

631
00:29:05.920 --> 00:29:07.559
in a ditch or he's gonna bury him or something.

632
00:29:07.559 --> 00:29:12.119
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So we next see Mitch,

633
00:29:12.279 --> 00:29:14.599
who is played by Samuel Jackson, and he bust into

634
00:29:14.640 --> 00:29:16.319
a hotel room with a guy that is in bed

635
00:29:16.359 --> 00:29:18.519
with a woman, and he's got two guys with him

636
00:29:18.559 --> 00:29:21.079
disguised as cops that are clearly not cops.

637
00:29:21.519 --> 00:29:22.599
Yeah.

638
00:29:22.640 --> 00:29:25.160
So he starts basically going in on the guy, saying

639
00:29:25.160 --> 00:29:27.720
that he's under arrest of prostitution and that if he

640
00:29:27.759 --> 00:29:29.440
wants to fuck with him, he can gladly send him

641
00:29:29.440 --> 00:29:31.160
to a place where he can be fucked in the ass.

642
00:29:31.200 --> 00:29:33.960
Like he has three renditions of this to basically say,

643
00:29:34.119 --> 00:29:35.480
I'll fuck with you if you fuck with me.

644
00:29:35.759 --> 00:29:36.039
Yeah.

645
00:29:36.160 --> 00:29:36.480
Yeah.

646
00:29:37.079 --> 00:29:39.440
So, uh, he has the one of the guys start

647
00:29:39.480 --> 00:29:42.640
reading him his rights, and he's basically coaxing the guy

648
00:29:42.680 --> 00:29:45.559
and guiding him through reading him his Miranda rights, and

649
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:47.400
then that gentleman also ends up vomiting.

650
00:29:47.759 --> 00:29:48.400
Yeah.

651
00:29:48.440 --> 00:29:50.319
So we find out that this is actually a scam

652
00:29:50.319 --> 00:29:52.079
that he's running because the woman that was in bed

653
00:29:52.119 --> 00:29:54.920
is actually his assistant and he is actually he's a

654
00:29:54.920 --> 00:29:55.680
private dick.

655
00:29:55.519 --> 00:29:57.359
Basically right private investigators.

656
00:29:57.640 --> 00:30:00.200
He's a private investigator, And we also find out that

657
00:30:00.480 --> 00:30:02.480
he's been doing the scam for a bit, because she

658
00:30:02.480 --> 00:30:04.160
even tells him they have to stop using bombs. But

659
00:30:04.319 --> 00:30:06.079
his assistant that also informs him that they have a

660
00:30:06.160 --> 00:30:07.799
lead on the Samantha Caine.

661
00:30:07.559 --> 00:30:11.480
Case, and worth mentioning two things about Samantha Cane. So

662
00:30:11.599 --> 00:30:15.799
number one, she mentions standing in front of the mirror naked,

663
00:30:16.519 --> 00:30:19.880
wondering where all the scars came from, because she has

664
00:30:20.079 --> 00:30:24.079
lots of scars, not like an obscene amount, but plenty,

665
00:30:24.440 --> 00:30:28.319
plenty of scars. And number two, she mentions that even

666
00:30:28.359 --> 00:30:30.799
as she's been settling into her life, she's been trying

667
00:30:30.799 --> 00:30:33.160
to find out where she came from, and that at

668
00:30:33.160 --> 00:30:36.440
first she was hiring great private detectives and then decent

669
00:30:36.480 --> 00:30:40.440
ones and now whoever's cheapest, Yeah, just whoever's cheapest, and

670
00:30:40.599 --> 00:30:42.759
clearly Samuel Jackson.

671
00:30:42.960 --> 00:30:46.880
Is the cheapest. Mitch Hennessy, by the way, Mitch Hennessy.

672
00:30:48.799 --> 00:30:59.559
Do You Even? Movie? Will be right back, welcome back

673
00:30:59.640 --> 00:31:00.880
to do You Even?

674
00:31:01.000 --> 00:31:03.519
Movie?

675
00:31:06.279 --> 00:31:08.240
So she informs him that they have a lead on

676
00:31:08.240 --> 00:31:10.960
the Samantha can Cane case because they found a credit

677
00:31:10.960 --> 00:31:12.599
card in a shoe box with a woman that has

678
00:31:12.640 --> 00:31:14.880
recently passed and it has Samantha Cayne's name on it.

679
00:31:14.960 --> 00:31:17.480
So he decides to call her and basically say that

680
00:31:17.759 --> 00:31:19.799
they're going to check into this a little bit more so.

681
00:31:19.960 --> 00:31:22.480
That is when we find out that Samantha is driving

682
00:31:22.519 --> 00:31:25.000
her friend Earl home, who has been drinking at the party.

683
00:31:25.319 --> 00:31:27.599
They wreck because there's a deer in the road, and

684
00:31:27.680 --> 00:31:30.119
that sends Samantha through the front of the windshield out

685
00:31:30.160 --> 00:31:32.720
into the snow, and she wakes up and kind of

686
00:31:32.759 --> 00:31:34.680
has a bit of flashes of memory that we see

687
00:31:34.720 --> 00:31:36.559
come back to her, but we still can't put together much.

688
00:31:36.640 --> 00:31:39.039
And you saying she goes through the windshield into the

689
00:31:39.079 --> 00:31:43.119
snow is a gross simplification. It is a terrifying car crash.

690
00:31:43.160 --> 00:31:46.720
They hit this deer, she flies, I would say easily.

691
00:31:46.359 --> 00:31:49.359
What fifty that the deer's kicking Yeah.

692
00:31:49.440 --> 00:31:52.119
Yeah, yeah, because her buddy, I think her buddy is dead.

693
00:31:52.319 --> 00:31:54.960
I want to say, I don't know for sure, we

694
00:31:55.039 --> 00:31:57.400
never see, but yeah. Also her buddy played by the

695
00:31:57.400 --> 00:32:02.000
great Alan North, who many main from SEENO Evil, Greno Evil.

696
00:32:02.559 --> 00:32:04.480
He plays a cop and basically everything.

697
00:32:04.680 --> 00:32:06.000
Yeah, and this one, he's a drunk.

698
00:32:06.039 --> 00:32:08.359
He's just a drunken this one. So she emerges from

699
00:32:08.359 --> 00:32:10.720
the snow, she's a little bloody, and she's having memory

700
00:32:10.720 --> 00:32:12.799
flashes and then she just wonders over the deer and

701
00:32:12.880 --> 00:32:15.000
sees it's in pain, so she just decides to break

702
00:32:15.039 --> 00:32:18.640
its fucking neck. Yeah, without any hesitation, no hesitation whatsoever.

703
00:32:18.720 --> 00:32:21.440
So then we cut to the Jersey Correctional facility where

704
00:32:21.480 --> 00:32:23.480
we see a man sitting in the wreck room alone

705
00:32:23.640 --> 00:32:25.880
in front of the caged TV. Because you know they're

706
00:32:25.880 --> 00:32:27.799
in the institution.

707
00:32:27.559 --> 00:32:29.480
That's how you know you're in a good place. Yeah,

708
00:32:29.519 --> 00:32:33.359
and the television is behind a full blown cage.

709
00:32:32.920 --> 00:32:35.039
So he's smoking a cigarette and all of a sudden,

710
00:32:35.079 --> 00:32:38.200
on the screen flashes the image of Samantha as missus

711
00:32:38.240 --> 00:32:41.039
Claws in the parade, and he just starts losing his shit,

712
00:32:41.079 --> 00:32:44.279
basically screaming, it's impossible, you're dead. What the hell's going on?

713
00:32:44.920 --> 00:32:47.000
We cut away from him. We're now in the hospital.

714
00:32:47.079 --> 00:32:49.599
How is visiting Samantha, who is sleeping, And that's when

715
00:32:49.640 --> 00:32:52.319
we cut into her dreams as we see Samantha looking

716
00:32:52.359 --> 00:32:54.559
back at herself in a mirror as the woman in

717
00:32:54.599 --> 00:32:56.799
front of her, which is her, changes to a woman

718
00:32:56.799 --> 00:32:59.359
that's like her but now has short cut, dyed blonde hair.

719
00:32:59.759 --> 00:33:03.519
Yeah, and we're starting to get the sense that it's

720
00:33:03.559 --> 00:33:04.680
coming back to her.

721
00:33:04.839 --> 00:33:06.480
Yeah, and the woman in the mirror says, you want

722
00:33:06.519 --> 00:33:08.039
a cigarette, and she's like, I don't want a cigarette.

723
00:33:08.039 --> 00:33:09.839
I don't smoke. She's like you used to. And she

724
00:33:09.920 --> 00:33:12.720
also says that she's coming back and her name's Charlie,

725
00:33:12.720 --> 00:33:13.599
and get used to it.

726
00:33:14.640 --> 00:33:17.920
You know, I know that amnesia is very rare, and

727
00:33:17.920 --> 00:33:21.240
in fact, most cases of claimed amnesia are faked from

728
00:33:21.279 --> 00:33:24.440
what I've under what I understand, Yeah, but imagine how

729
00:33:24.559 --> 00:33:27.200
terrifying it really would be if you had no memory

730
00:33:27.240 --> 00:33:32.599
of your past. Yeah, you would wonder like was I

731
00:33:33.000 --> 00:33:35.480
a bastard? You know? Was I a son of a bitch?

732
00:33:35.880 --> 00:33:36.599
Was I Dave?

733
00:33:37.319 --> 00:33:37.440
Like?

734
00:33:37.640 --> 00:33:40.960
What could I have been? No? Exactly, but no, it's

735
00:33:41.000 --> 00:33:43.880
a really cool space to play in. Yeah, this whole

736
00:33:43.920 --> 00:33:46.720
idea that she's basically as we're going to come to see,

737
00:33:46.759 --> 00:33:50.680
she's almost like like how a sleeper cell is shown,

738
00:33:50.720 --> 00:33:53.599
you know, like she has all these skills inside of

739
00:33:53.599 --> 00:33:55.640
her mind that she doesn't even know about until they

740
00:33:55.680 --> 00:33:56.359
start unlocking.

741
00:33:56.440 --> 00:33:59.039
Well, she's not accessing all of her brain yet, she's only.

742
00:33:59.000 --> 00:34:04.839
Accessing what was that movie The Lazarus Project? Well that

743
00:34:04.839 --> 00:34:07.039
one too, but there was the other one, Liz, No,

744
00:34:07.160 --> 00:34:09.840
what was that movie? The actionvie with the girl the

745
00:34:10.000 --> 00:34:12.679
like female assassin and all the animal pictures.

746
00:34:13.760 --> 00:34:17.079
It wasn't Lucy. That's the one with the animal pictures.

747
00:34:17.239 --> 00:34:18.119
Animal images.

748
00:34:18.440 --> 00:34:20.119
Oh God, I get I don't even know.

749
00:34:20.679 --> 00:34:25.360
One of my great pet peeves is the the cinematic

750
00:34:25.519 --> 00:34:28.679
trope of saying that we only use like five to

751
00:34:28.760 --> 00:34:32.639
ten percent of our brains. Maybe the writers who keep

752
00:34:32.719 --> 00:34:37.199
saying that only use that much of their brains, but

753
00:34:37.360 --> 00:34:41.440
the rest of us, we use the vast majority of

754
00:34:41.480 --> 00:34:46.719
our brains. Yeah, for many things, such as retaining learning

755
00:34:47.119 --> 00:34:49.519
that that's not true after the first time we fucking

756
00:34:49.559 --> 00:34:53.280
heard it. Yeah, it drives me crazy. But now there

757
00:34:53.320 --> 00:34:54.840
was some there was some action movie that I was

758
00:34:54.880 --> 00:34:57.800
really looking forward to, but it opened up with like

759
00:34:57.800 --> 00:35:00.679
like how they make you the perfect killer sassin fighter

760
00:35:00.719 --> 00:35:03.000
or whatever is we activate the rest of your brain?

761
00:35:03.400 --> 00:35:05.880
And I was like, God, that wasn't Lucy.

762
00:35:05.920 --> 00:35:06.599
I think it was Lucy.

763
00:35:06.719 --> 00:35:08.920
Yeah, Lucy with a not Charlie's theirn.

764
00:35:09.840 --> 00:35:12.159
I think it was Lucy. Was that a Luke Bassan?

765
00:35:12.480 --> 00:35:15.360
Yeah? Yeah, Charlie so Hanson, I think I think it

766
00:35:15.440 --> 00:35:17.960
was the same time as that, and under the skin

767
00:35:18.239 --> 00:35:19.039
we're close together.

768
00:35:19.159 --> 00:35:22.079
It's probably Lucy. I was not a fan, but I

769
00:35:22.559 --> 00:35:24.719
but it's hard for me to stay invested when they

770
00:35:24.800 --> 00:35:26.079
say something that stupid.

771
00:35:26.159 --> 00:35:28.360
You mean, Lucy spoiler the movie where it turns out

772
00:35:28.360 --> 00:35:33.239
that she's basically turning into a computer slowly. Yeah, I remember.

773
00:35:33.880 --> 00:35:37.519
So Charlie is in this dream with Samantha, and we

774
00:35:37.519 --> 00:35:39.920
should also point out, as you pointed out, that she's

775
00:35:39.960 --> 00:35:41.920
basically in a Hell Razor to dream apparently.

776
00:35:42.079 --> 00:35:46.360
Oh man, no, it's like Renny Harlan definitely was thinking

777
00:35:46.360 --> 00:35:48.760
of Hell Razor two when he showed that moment, because

778
00:35:48.800 --> 00:35:50.679
she's standing there with the mirror in front of her

779
00:35:50.719 --> 00:35:53.000
and the wind blowing her hair around and then the

780
00:35:53.079 --> 00:35:55.599
blood trickling like it's so Hell Razor.

781
00:35:55.679 --> 00:35:57.400
And I noticed on this viewing for the first time

782
00:35:57.440 --> 00:36:00.000
that the all of those times where she's meeting Charge,

783
00:36:00.199 --> 00:36:01.599
except for I think the one time in the hotel,

784
00:36:01.679 --> 00:36:03.800
they're on the cliff, and I never put that together.

785
00:36:03.920 --> 00:36:05.119
Oh yeah, yeah, you're right.

786
00:36:05.199 --> 00:36:08.960
So, so basically from that point she is told that

787
00:36:09.400 --> 00:36:11.800
her name's Charlie and she's gonna love her. And that

788
00:36:11.920 --> 00:36:13.760
is when we cut to a neighborhood where we see

789
00:36:13.800 --> 00:36:16.199
Mitch sitting with his son Todd and he's showing him

790
00:36:16.239 --> 00:36:18.480
a place that he got for him. Todd's mother requests

791
00:36:18.480 --> 00:36:20.039
that he comes in, and Todd informs him that he

792
00:36:20.039 --> 00:36:21.960
can't accept the gift because you know how mom is.

793
00:36:22.400 --> 00:36:24.039
So we kind of see that Mitch doesn't really have

794
00:36:24.079 --> 00:36:25.760
a great relationship with his son, and well, he has

795
00:36:25.760 --> 00:36:27.480
a good relationship with his son, but the mom really

796
00:36:27.519 --> 00:36:29.280
doesn't want him around because she doesn't trust him.

797
00:36:29.559 --> 00:36:29.800
Yeah.

798
00:36:29.960 --> 00:36:33.840
Yeah, so that is when we also see that Mitch

799
00:36:33.880 --> 00:36:37.360
gets a page and his assistant informs him that they

800
00:36:37.400 --> 00:36:40.559
have found a letter that has Samantha's original handwriting on it.

801
00:36:40.599 --> 00:36:42.360
They found a stash of stuff from the old woman

802
00:36:42.400 --> 00:36:44.519
as well, and that he is going to go see

803
00:36:44.559 --> 00:36:46.559
her tonight because they're going to go track this stuff

804
00:36:46.599 --> 00:36:48.159
down and see if they can dig a little bit

805
00:36:48.159 --> 00:36:50.639
more into her past. At Samantha's they're prepping dinner, but

806
00:36:50.679 --> 00:36:52.840
Samantha is struggling with cutting a carrot, even how it's

807
00:36:52.880 --> 00:36:55.159
kind of giving her some crap for it, when suddenly

808
00:36:55.320 --> 00:36:57.440
she starts chopping like a pro chef.

809
00:36:58.000 --> 00:37:02.199
Yeah, she is just slicing through everything, through everything like

810
00:37:02.199 --> 00:37:03.480
a vegematic.

811
00:37:03.039 --> 00:37:05.199
And they get celebratory. They start throwing her peppers, They

812
00:37:05.199 --> 00:37:07.119
start throwing all these things, and at one point they

813
00:37:07.159 --> 00:37:09.440
tossed her a tomato and she's balancing the knife on

814
00:37:09.480 --> 00:37:11.960
her finger at this point, and as the tomatoes tossed

815
00:37:11.960 --> 00:37:13.719
to her, she throws the tomato, throws the knife, and

816
00:37:13.760 --> 00:37:15.079
the tomato gets stuck into the wall.

817
00:37:15.920 --> 00:37:18.039
Which is such a great moment because then when the

818
00:37:18.079 --> 00:37:21.519
camera cuts back to Geena Davis, she goes, chefs do that?

819
00:37:21.719 --> 00:37:22.239
Chefs do that?

820
00:37:22.480 --> 00:37:25.679
Yeah, because she she's convinced at this juncture that she

821
00:37:25.760 --> 00:37:27.480
must have been a chef because she has all this

822
00:37:27.559 --> 00:37:28.239
muscle memory.

823
00:37:28.320 --> 00:37:31.719
Yeah. Yeah, and how seeing this is obviously a little nervous.

824
00:37:32.119 --> 00:37:33.599
Yeah, that would startle me a little bit.

825
00:37:33.719 --> 00:37:35.559
So we cut to an airplane hangar where we see

826
00:37:35.559 --> 00:37:38.440
a man chained up who's being interrogated by our villain Timothy,

827
00:37:38.760 --> 00:37:41.239
and he basically tells this guy that he knows when

828
00:37:41.239 --> 00:37:43.920
somebody's lying just by looking into their eyes. Timothy also

829
00:37:43.920 --> 00:37:46.280
gets a call on his cell phone and we find

830
00:37:46.280 --> 00:37:48.039
out that one eyed Jack, the man that was in

831
00:37:48.079 --> 00:37:50.199
the cell watching the coverage of Samantha on the TV,

832
00:37:50.679 --> 00:37:53.559
has escaped from prison and that due to seeing Charlie,

833
00:37:53.599 --> 00:37:55.480
he has gone crazy and he wants to find her.

834
00:37:55.760 --> 00:37:58.639
Timothy was supposed to have killed Charlie, who is called

835
00:37:58.920 --> 00:38:01.920
Charlene by this point, well, right, and that's when he

836
00:38:01.960 --> 00:38:03.960
basically says, all right, I'll look into this, and he

837
00:38:04.039 --> 00:38:05.840
kills the guy he's interrogating, and that's when we get

838
00:38:05.840 --> 00:38:08.639
the first introduction of Timothy, who is a motherfucker in this.

839
00:38:08.639 --> 00:38:14.079
Movie, well somewhat literally. Hey hey, now, So.

840
00:38:14.199 --> 00:38:17.159
That is when we then cut to the ice rink

841
00:38:17.199 --> 00:38:19.119
the next day, where we see Caitlyn and Samantha on

842
00:38:19.159 --> 00:38:21.800
the ice and Caitlyn's having some trouble skating. She's afraid,

843
00:38:21.880 --> 00:38:23.920
and she actually, you know, tells her that, you know,

844
00:38:23.960 --> 00:38:25.559
she doesn't know she wants to do this, and that's

845
00:38:25.559 --> 00:38:27.199
when Samantha's like, you can do this, you know, go

846
00:38:27.239 --> 00:38:29.480
out and skate. So Samantha goes out and skate, gets

847
00:38:29.480 --> 00:38:31.559
about a couple of feet and then falls and she's crying,

848
00:38:31.599 --> 00:38:34.199
saying she wants to go home, she's hurt. When suddenly

849
00:38:34.199 --> 00:38:36.679
Samantha's tone changes a little bit to the Charlie tone

850
00:38:36.719 --> 00:38:39.199
that we heard in the dream, and she basically tells

851
00:38:39.199 --> 00:38:41.960
her to stop being a little baby, get up. Life

852
00:38:42.000 --> 00:38:44.039
is pain, and she will skate to the shore and

853
00:38:44.039 --> 00:38:46.599
not fall again. Do you wonder do we understand each other?

854
00:38:47.400 --> 00:38:51.559
Hey, that's that's that's some parenting. So later that night,

855
00:38:51.639 --> 00:38:53.760
my dad, my dad thought that would work. I could

856
00:38:53.800 --> 00:38:56.239
see that, Oh you could. Yeah, it didn't.

857
00:38:56.400 --> 00:38:56.800
It didn't.

858
00:38:56.840 --> 00:38:59.800
It didn't. No, you know, it made me worse.

859
00:39:00.320 --> 00:39:01.119
I can also see that.

860
00:39:01.199 --> 00:39:01.760
Yes, thanks.

861
00:39:03.760 --> 00:39:06.920
So later that night, snow is falling outside of Samantha's

862
00:39:06.920 --> 00:39:08.960
house and Hal checks on Caitlyn, who we see is

863
00:39:09.000 --> 00:39:10.760
now in a cast. He then goes up to the

864
00:39:10.760 --> 00:39:13.480
treehouse where we see that Samantha is, you know, she's

865
00:39:13.519 --> 00:39:15.280
just cuddle up against the side, and that's when we're

866
00:39:15.320 --> 00:39:18.519
found that Caitlyn suffered a fracture and she's feeling so

867
00:39:18.639 --> 00:39:20.920
bad because not only does she not remember what she

868
00:39:20.920 --> 00:39:23.159
said to her, she has no memory of what happened,

869
00:39:23.599 --> 00:39:26.440
so she kind of had a black autbum a. So

870
00:39:26.559 --> 00:39:29.320
Caitlyn has accidentally suffered a fracture and she feels terrible

871
00:39:29.360 --> 00:39:31.719
for it, and that's when Howl goes to comfort her.

872
00:39:31.760 --> 00:39:34.400
But even Samantha flinches and she's like, you know, and

873
00:39:34.480 --> 00:39:35.760
he's like, hey, don't be afraid of me. She's like,

874
00:39:35.800 --> 00:39:38.159
it's not you I'm afraid of I'm basically afraid of me.

875
00:39:38.559 --> 00:39:42.320
Yeah, Yeah, she's afraid she'll, you know, effortlessly react and

876
00:39:42.440 --> 00:39:43.239
break his face.

877
00:39:43.400 --> 00:39:45.199
So I know what you're thinking so far. To your listener,

878
00:39:45.239 --> 00:39:47.320
if you haven't seen this movie, you're like, man, when

879
00:39:47.559 --> 00:39:50.679
is this going to get into the action. Well, we

880
00:39:50.760 --> 00:39:52.840
suddenly start to hear some carollers, and we see how

881
00:39:52.880 --> 00:39:54.960
it starts to smile because the sound of carolers makes

882
00:39:55.000 --> 00:39:57.000
both of them happy. But we cut to the caroler

883
00:39:57.119 --> 00:39:59.400
singing and we see that somebody in the Carolyn group

884
00:39:59.440 --> 00:40:02.199
has a gun on the carrillers, forcing them to sing.

885
00:40:02.719 --> 00:40:06.679
Yeah, which I mean, that's how I have to get

886
00:40:06.719 --> 00:40:08.719
a lot of the people around me to have festival

887
00:40:09.199 --> 00:40:12.199
festive cheer. Frankly some years, that's how I feel with

888
00:40:12.239 --> 00:40:15.199
my whole family, getting everybody on board for the holidays. Yeah,

889
00:40:15.280 --> 00:40:18.679
I'm like, you're gonna smile, You're gonna eat the fucking

890
00:40:18.920 --> 00:40:24.920
ham everyone's happy. Give me your Amazon wish list code.

891
00:40:25.480 --> 00:40:27.880
So Samantha goes to the door and she's got a

892
00:40:27.880 --> 00:40:29.639
bowl of eminems. So she's gonna give the carrot, which

893
00:40:29.639 --> 00:40:32.199
I thought was odd. Just a bowl of eminem's. Is

894
00:40:32.199 --> 00:40:34.760
that what it is? Because it's what it's what he

895
00:40:34.800 --> 00:40:35.280
trips on.

896
00:40:35.639 --> 00:40:38.079
Oh uh, I mean usually you give them something.

897
00:40:38.239 --> 00:40:43.400
Yes, yeah, do you even movie will be right back,

898
00:40:50.880 --> 00:40:55.519
welcome back to do you Even movie?

899
00:40:58.239 --> 00:41:00.000
Anyway, So she goes to the door with some can

900
00:41:00.239 --> 00:41:02.519
and that's when one eyed Jack comes through the carriller's

901
00:41:02.599 --> 00:41:05.480
spread and he's got a shotgun. He fires one shot

902
00:41:05.480 --> 00:41:07.719
as Samantha tries to fight him, and we see that

903
00:41:07.760 --> 00:41:10.239
the shot misses her. Holle even tries to step in

904
00:41:10.280 --> 00:41:12.559
and help her but Jack, but he ends up slipping.

905
00:41:12.960 --> 00:41:14.840
And that's also when Jack slips as well on the

906
00:41:14.840 --> 00:41:17.920
bowl of candy, firing a shot that goes right through

907
00:41:17.920 --> 00:41:20.360
the wall, blowing a hole through the fucking wall.

908
00:41:20.639 --> 00:41:23.360
Yeah, this shotgun packs a wallop.

909
00:41:23.079 --> 00:41:27.000
It does, indeed, So Samantha, thinking fast, grabs Caitlin hurls

910
00:41:27.000 --> 00:41:29.280
her across the hole into the treehouse because it's just

911
00:41:29.320 --> 00:41:30.800
the lightning's perfect.

912
00:41:30.519 --> 00:41:33.239
Right through the hole in the wall onto the treehouse

913
00:41:33.320 --> 00:41:35.199
and it's a sweet looking fact.

914
00:41:35.440 --> 00:41:37.599
So she starts fighting with Jack. They make their way

915
00:41:37.599 --> 00:41:40.039
into the kitchen. He's got her over the sink at

916
00:41:40.079 --> 00:41:43.119
one point and she grabs a pie, smashing it into

917
00:41:43.119 --> 00:41:45.239
his face, which is now bloody, and he falls to

918
00:41:45.280 --> 00:41:47.280
the ground. She not only punches him in the back

919
00:41:47.320 --> 00:41:49.280
of the head, but then just stands right over him

920
00:41:49.440 --> 00:41:51.159
snaps his neck right in front of Howl.

921
00:41:52.239 --> 00:41:56.159
Yeah, she roughs him up, and it's not just with

922
00:41:56.360 --> 00:42:00.119
anger and aggression, it's with a level of like of

923
00:42:00.119 --> 00:42:02.480
martial arts discipline, precision. Yeah.

924
00:42:02.559 --> 00:42:05.199
Yeah. And not only that, but then she also just

925
00:42:05.239 --> 00:42:06.960
like takes a little cream off the top of his

926
00:42:07.039 --> 00:42:09.400
head from the pie and says, chefs do that as

927
00:42:09.400 --> 00:42:11.039
she licks her fingers right in front of Howl.

928
00:42:11.320 --> 00:42:14.599
Yeah, with fucking blood. Blood, indeed blood, She's tasting blood

929
00:42:14.639 --> 00:42:17.960
and cream yep, which I mean, if cream can cut

930
00:42:18.000 --> 00:42:20.159
the terrible taste of coffee, I guess it'll make blood

931
00:42:20.159 --> 00:42:20.880
okay too.

932
00:42:20.719 --> 00:42:23.559
Who knows. So sirens ring out as police arrive. We

933
00:42:23.559 --> 00:42:25.480
also see that Mitch is there because Samantha runs out

934
00:42:25.480 --> 00:42:28.159
to see if Caitlyn's okay. Mitch tells her that Caitlin's okay.

935
00:42:28.360 --> 00:42:30.800
They're pointing their guns at her. The next morning, though,

936
00:42:30.920 --> 00:42:32.760
we see that Samantha and Mitch are going on a

937
00:42:32.800 --> 00:42:34.920
trip to try and find out more about her identity,

938
00:42:35.039 --> 00:42:37.320
and she tells Caitlyn to keep a candle lit in

939
00:42:37.320 --> 00:42:38.119
the window for her.

940
00:42:38.280 --> 00:42:39.920
I know it's a very emotional time for you.

941
00:42:40.039 --> 00:42:42.159
David to keep a candle lit in the window.

942
00:42:42.960 --> 00:42:45.119
It candle for your mom.

943
00:42:45.039 --> 00:42:48.159
And writes her portable cell number on her cast as well,

944
00:42:48.199 --> 00:42:50.480
and even gives her bear a bracelet which has the

945
00:42:50.559 --> 00:42:52.320
key that we mentioned in the beginning for the safety

946
00:42:52.360 --> 00:42:54.320
deposit box that I just gave that away.

947
00:42:54.360 --> 00:42:58.519
Whoops, Wow, where's the button? Spoiler alert?

948
00:42:58.599 --> 00:43:02.960
Yeah, my bad. So that is when we also see

949
00:43:03.039 --> 00:43:05.519
that she is assuring her that, or that's when how

950
00:43:05.599 --> 00:43:07.599
it basically tells her, you know, hey, no matter what

951
00:43:07.639 --> 00:43:09.480
you find out about the person that you used to be,

952
00:43:09.559 --> 00:43:11.000
I'm still going to love you for who you are.

953
00:43:11.360 --> 00:43:13.320
You know, I'm not afraid of you. Nothing that you

954
00:43:13.320 --> 00:43:14.840
can do is going to make me afraid of you.

955
00:43:14.880 --> 00:43:15.639
I'm still going to.

956
00:43:15.559 --> 00:43:18.800
Love you every time you go away.

957
00:43:19.519 --> 00:43:22.880
So that is when we see that they cut to

958
00:43:22.920 --> 00:43:25.480
the White House and we are with the President who

959
00:43:25.599 --> 00:43:28.159
is discussing Charlene's resurfacing.

960
00:43:28.280 --> 00:43:30.480
That escalated quickly, Yes, all of a sudden. Now we're

961
00:43:30.480 --> 00:43:31.159
at the White House.

962
00:43:31.239 --> 00:43:35.400
Yes, So they're upset because not only has this mess

963
00:43:35.440 --> 00:43:37.880
been dumped into his lap, but also he is he's

964
00:43:37.920 --> 00:43:40.480
upset because they wanted to secure government funding. And that's

965
00:43:40.480 --> 00:43:42.239
when he also has the line of you all come

966
00:43:42.239 --> 00:43:44.079
to me every year one of your government funding, wondering

967
00:43:44.079 --> 00:43:45.360
where it went healthcare.

968
00:43:47.679 --> 00:43:51.559
Well, he's threatening him. He's saying like he's basically saying like,

969
00:43:51.559 --> 00:43:53.239
if you don't solve this, then I'm putting it in

970
00:43:53.280 --> 00:43:55.360
health health instead, which I love that. That's the threat,

971
00:43:55.480 --> 00:43:57.719
is like, well, I'll put the money for your operation

972
00:43:57.800 --> 00:43:59.679
into healthcare. Yeah, I see you like that.

973
00:43:59.679 --> 00:44:02.719
That's what we meet Leland Perkins, who is I think

974
00:44:02.800 --> 00:44:05.639
he is. Is he a head of the government agency

975
00:44:06.239 --> 00:44:08.760
something something like that. Yeah, And he's talking to the President.

976
00:44:08.800 --> 00:44:11.360
So Samantha and mitchroll dripping along the road, and that's

977
00:44:11.400 --> 00:44:13.960
when she, you know, he's like, you know, are you cold?

978
00:44:14.159 --> 00:44:15.719
And she's like yeah, and he's like, Okay, go ahead

979
00:44:15.760 --> 00:44:17.280
and turn the heat on. It doesn't work, but it

980
00:44:17.280 --> 00:44:18.719
makes a really annoying sound.

981
00:44:19.320 --> 00:44:21.159
It makes a distract you from how cold it is.

982
00:44:21.280 --> 00:44:24.079
Yeah. So we also see her looking at the postcard

983
00:44:24.119 --> 00:44:26.159
that's addressed to her, finding out that she had addressed

984
00:44:26.159 --> 00:44:28.679
it to her fiance. Mitch almost drives off the road

985
00:44:28.679 --> 00:44:31.320
admiring a woman jogging, and this causes a whole conversation

986
00:44:31.400 --> 00:44:34.239
of them to basically talk about the attraction that men

987
00:44:34.320 --> 00:44:36.119
have for that sort of thing, and that this is

988
00:44:36.199 --> 00:44:38.639
kind of their initial bonding that they have basically kind

989
00:44:38.639 --> 00:44:39.599
of sensing each other.

990
00:44:39.800 --> 00:44:40.800
Get to each other.

991
00:44:41.000 --> 00:44:43.920
So she sees that the name is Nathan Waldman that

992
00:44:44.039 --> 00:44:45.800
is signed in this book that was in the Samantha

993
00:44:45.840 --> 00:44:47.880
Canes stuff that they got, So she decides to make

994
00:44:47.880 --> 00:44:49.880
a call to the number that's on there. So we

995
00:44:49.960 --> 00:44:52.000
cut to a nice estate where we see a man

996
00:44:52.360 --> 00:44:54.800
who is Nathan, you know, enjoying his dinner, or at

997
00:44:54.840 --> 00:44:56.519
least he's trying to. But the woman that he's with

998
00:44:56.599 --> 00:44:58.840
has a dog and it will not stop licking its ass.

999
00:45:01.039 --> 00:45:04.039
So that's that's when the phone starts ringing, and Samantha

1000
00:45:04.159 --> 00:45:06.920
is calling him obviously, and he instantly recognized her voice

1001
00:45:06.920 --> 00:45:10.199
and calls her Charlie, and she says, you know my name,

1002
00:45:10.199 --> 00:45:12.039
and he what's my full name? And that's when he says,

1003
00:45:12.079 --> 00:45:15.280
your full name is Charlie Elizabeth Baltimore. He tells her

1004
00:45:15.360 --> 00:45:17.159
she may be in danger and that they must meet

1005
00:45:17.199 --> 00:45:20.039
at a train station tomorrow. So later that night, Mitch

1006
00:45:20.079 --> 00:45:22.480
and Samantha have stopped off at a motel as Samantha

1007
00:45:22.519 --> 00:45:24.800
practices her name. As we saw in the credits, Initially

1008
00:45:24.840 --> 00:45:28.480
the opening credits, we also hear Niche Mitch narrate what

1009
00:45:28.519 --> 00:45:31.039
he's doing by a blues tune that he basically sings

1010
00:45:31.079 --> 00:45:31.960
everything he does.

1011
00:45:32.119 --> 00:45:36.719
DA gotta put.

1012
00:45:36.639 --> 00:45:41.880
The keys in my pocket, So she picks up on that,

1013
00:45:42.079 --> 00:45:45.840
and that's also when we see that he notices that

1014
00:45:45.880 --> 00:45:47.760
she's been cursing a lot more because she's messing up

1015
00:45:47.760 --> 00:45:49.679
with the writing and she's dropping a couple f bombs,

1016
00:45:49.800 --> 00:45:51.360
and he's like, you know, do you curse this much?

1017
00:45:51.440 --> 00:45:52.920
Usually because like when I met you, you were a

1018
00:45:52.960 --> 00:45:55.519
real Fooie I Burnt the muffins type of person, and

1019
00:45:55.559 --> 00:45:57.400
she basically tells him to mind his own business. She's

1020
00:45:57.400 --> 00:45:59.320
not amused. She even shuts the door because he's smoking

1021
00:45:59.360 --> 00:46:01.000
the hotel room and she doesn't want to smell it.

1022
00:46:01.519 --> 00:46:04.280
So that's when they've gotten Samantha Cayne' stuff at this point,

1023
00:46:04.840 --> 00:46:07.079
and she's in the room now with a suitcase. She

1024
00:46:07.159 --> 00:46:09.800
pulls everything out of the suitcase and starts finding a

1025
00:46:09.840 --> 00:46:12.440
secret compartment in the suitcase, opening it up to reveal

1026
00:46:12.480 --> 00:46:15.079
a high powered rifle and a knife.

1027
00:46:14.920 --> 00:46:19.360
And her reaction is not fear. Her reaction is simple awareness,

1028
00:46:19.480 --> 00:46:24.000
as she immediately assembles the rifle, so without any hesitation.

1029
00:46:23.639 --> 00:46:26.280
No hesitation whatsoever, and there are at least twenty pieces

1030
00:46:26.280 --> 00:46:28.360
of this rifle and she puts it together like it's nothing.

1031
00:46:28.719 --> 00:46:31.079
And that's when by this time, she's by a mirror

1032
00:46:31.119 --> 00:46:33.159
and she turns into the mirror to see that Charlie

1033
00:46:33.159 --> 00:46:34.840
is also in front of her with the rifle. But

1034
00:46:34.960 --> 00:46:37.800
also Charlie cuts her throat, waking her up. So Samantha

1035
00:46:37.800 --> 00:46:39.280
comes out of a dream and that's when she looks

1036
00:46:39.320 --> 00:46:41.800
on the bed to see the rifle is still fully assembled.

1037
00:46:42.039 --> 00:46:44.360
Well, I mean, they ain't doing any good for you.

1038
00:46:44.360 --> 00:46:46.280
In pieces, so she goes to grab it and hide it.

1039
00:46:46.320 --> 00:46:48.360
That's when Mixed spooks her by walking through the door

1040
00:46:48.400 --> 00:46:50.480
and she accidentally fires a shot right next to Mitch

1041
00:46:50.519 --> 00:46:52.800
as he ducks down. Next we see that Mitch is

1042
00:46:52.840 --> 00:46:54.760
wanting to leave. He's handing her money back, saying that

1043
00:46:54.800 --> 00:46:56.280
he's done. He doesn't want to be a part of this.

1044
00:46:56.280 --> 00:46:58.199
The situation's getting out of hand, and that's when she

1045
00:46:58.239 --> 00:47:00.280
pleads with them, adding that her memory feels like it's

1046
00:47:00.280 --> 00:47:02.000
locked inside her head. Do you know what that feels like?

1047
00:47:02.320 --> 00:47:05.199
And that's when Mitch also exposes that he spent four

1048
00:47:05.280 --> 00:47:07.239
years in prison and he is not going back.

1049
00:47:07.440 --> 00:47:09.960
Yeah, she says, it feels like my brain is locked up.

1050
00:47:10.239 --> 00:47:12.440
I'm locked up inside my brain and I can't get out.

1051
00:47:12.440 --> 00:47:14.039
Do you know what that feels like. He's like, yeah,

1052
00:47:14.119 --> 00:47:16.000
I do, and I'm not gonna do it again.

1053
00:47:16.079 --> 00:47:17.920
So we see them driving on the road in the night,

1054
00:47:18.000 --> 00:47:19.760
and that's when Mitch tells her a story about seven

1055
00:47:19.840 --> 00:47:21.639
years ago he was in an Atlanta cop and there

1056
00:47:21.760 --> 00:47:23.960
was a partner he had that didn't like him, and

1057
00:47:24.000 --> 00:47:26.280
that they were also manning the evidence room and one

1058
00:47:26.360 --> 00:47:29.880
day a thing of bonds went missing and an anonymous

1059
00:47:29.920 --> 00:47:33.079
tip basically e leaked that they were in his closet.

1060
00:47:33.159 --> 00:47:35.159
And she's like, oh, so he framed it and he's like, oh, hell, no,

1061
00:47:35.199 --> 00:47:36.320
I stole the damn things.

1062
00:47:37.360 --> 00:47:39.119
No, I did it, yeah.

1063
00:47:38.880 --> 00:47:41.119
Adding he's never done one right thing in his life

1064
00:47:41.119 --> 00:47:43.440
and that takes skill. Mitch then takes the money back,

1065
00:47:43.480 --> 00:47:45.000
telling her that he will drive her to the train

1066
00:47:45.039 --> 00:47:47.000
station to meet Walden so they can figure out what

1067
00:47:47.119 --> 00:47:49.519
is going on. So the next morning, they arrive at

1068
00:47:49.519 --> 00:47:51.880
the train station ten minutes early, and Mitch states that

1069
00:47:51.920 --> 00:47:53.639
he's got a bad feeling as he grabs a pistol

1070
00:47:53.679 --> 00:47:56.000
from his trunk as they go in. Samantha goes to

1071
00:47:56.000 --> 00:47:58.280
sit at the bar and sitting down, she is handed

1072
00:47:58.320 --> 00:48:00.440
a Budweiser, and to the left of her, we see

1073
00:48:00.440 --> 00:48:03.960
that Timothy is also at the bar, and he asked her,

1074
00:48:04.000 --> 00:48:05.559
you know, do I know you await? Is that a

1075
00:48:05.599 --> 00:48:08.360
pickup line? And they kind of exchange a little uh

1076
00:48:08.920 --> 00:48:10.519
not flirtatious, but like.

1077
00:48:11.199 --> 00:48:12.719
Well, I mean he's really feeling her out.

1078
00:48:12.760 --> 00:48:13.559
He's feeling her out.

1079
00:48:13.599 --> 00:48:16.920
He's well, I think his thought is that he's being

1080
00:48:16.960 --> 00:48:19.400
funny by flirting because they're in public. But when he

1081
00:48:19.480 --> 00:48:22.960
notices she reacts just like a literal stranger.

1082
00:48:22.480 --> 00:48:25.199
Who just you know, is being does not recognize him.

1083
00:48:25.280 --> 00:48:27.199
Yeah, he Because that's the moment is when she says like,

1084
00:48:27.239 --> 00:48:30.159
I don't think we have bet and he's like, you have, Yeah,

1085
00:48:30.199 --> 00:48:32.119
we haven't. Yeah, he's very surprised.

1086
00:48:32.199 --> 00:48:34.519
Yeah, So that's when he walks out to the center

1087
00:48:34.679 --> 00:48:36.960
of the room and he basically tells his men via

1088
00:48:37.000 --> 00:48:38.880
over the earpiece that they're going to move in and

1089
00:48:38.960 --> 00:48:41.320
kill them both. So we see him give the order.

1090
00:48:41.400 --> 00:48:43.800
A gentleman begins to approach her as Mitch's joined her

1091
00:48:43.800 --> 00:48:45.280
at the bar now and we see a guy with

1092
00:48:45.360 --> 00:48:47.360
a nice hat he's walking up. We think it might

1093
00:48:47.400 --> 00:48:49.920
be Walden or they think it is. Nope, it's an assassin.

1094
00:48:49.960 --> 00:48:51.840
As he draws a silence pistol out, but before he

1095
00:48:51.840 --> 00:48:53.880
can get a shot off, Mitch shoots him dead.

1096
00:48:54.400 --> 00:48:56.480
Boom. I mean it is an epic shot.

1097
00:48:56.559 --> 00:48:59.119
Yeah, And men just siege on the station. At this point,

1098
00:48:59.159 --> 00:49:02.000
we see civilians getting shot down. They're mowing down everything

1099
00:49:02.119 --> 00:49:04.440
trying to get to Samantha and Mitch, and they are

1100
00:49:04.480 --> 00:49:07.039
just blowing this train station lobby up. And that's when

1101
00:49:07.079 --> 00:49:09.400
Mitch and Samantha go up the stairs. They get an

1102
00:49:09.400 --> 00:49:11.480
oozy off a gunman and that's when Mitch tells her

1103
00:49:11.480 --> 00:49:13.880
that he's got three shots left. She's got one clip

1104
00:49:13.920 --> 00:49:16.239
to spray and prey. Except the grenade comes around the

1105
00:49:16.280 --> 00:49:17.719
corner and he says, fuck it. Run.

1106
00:49:18.519 --> 00:49:22.239
That's a great moment, very shame black kind of moment. Yeah.

1107
00:49:22.280 --> 00:49:24.360
So they're running. There's nowhere to go, and that's when

1108
00:49:24.559 --> 00:49:27.079
Samantha says, yes, there is. Taking his gun, she shoots

1109
00:49:27.559 --> 00:49:30.280
through a window. They jump and they go running at

1110
00:49:30.280 --> 00:49:32.920
the window, jumping through the window, going right down into

1111
00:49:32.960 --> 00:49:34.800
an ice pond. But she uses the machine gun to

1112
00:49:34.800 --> 00:49:37.400
shoot through the ice and they plummet through safe and sound,

1113
00:49:38.079 --> 00:49:39.960
except they're freezing fucking golds.

1114
00:49:39.679 --> 00:49:41.679
A little, a little on the chilli side, baby.

1115
00:49:41.519 --> 00:49:43.280
So they quickly run back to the parking lot as

1116
00:49:43.360 --> 00:49:45.519
Nathan shows up running down one of the gunmen that's

1117
00:49:45.559 --> 00:49:47.119
right close to them, and he tells them to get

1118
00:49:47.159 --> 00:49:49.480
in now. Mitch comments on them jumping out a window,

1119
00:49:49.480 --> 00:49:53.280
and that's when Uh, Brian as Brian Cox is one

1120
00:49:53.280 --> 00:49:55.400
of my favorite lines of this movie, where he's like, yes, yes,

1121
00:49:55.440 --> 00:49:57.519
it was very exciting, and tomorrow we'll go to the zoo.

1122
00:49:58.639 --> 00:50:01.119
It was very exciting, and tomorrow we'll go to the zoo.

1123
00:50:01.239 --> 00:50:02.440
A very shame black life.

1124
00:50:02.519 --> 00:50:02.760
Yeah.

1125
00:50:02.840 --> 00:50:07.039
Yeah, So that's when we meet Nathan Walden and that's

1126
00:50:07.079 --> 00:50:10.920
when he basically explains that he gives Samantha a gun,

1127
00:50:10.960 --> 00:50:12.159
and that's when Mitch is like, you have any more

1128
00:50:12.159 --> 00:50:14.039
of those? And he's like, yes, I actually have two more,

1129
00:50:14.079 --> 00:50:16.079
one in my belt, one on my leg that may

1130
00:50:16.119 --> 00:50:20.360
come back later. So he also comments that her name

1131
00:50:20.400 --> 00:50:24.360
is Charlene and that she the school teacher. Samantha never existed.

1132
00:50:24.360 --> 00:50:26.199
It was a cover that was created that she bought,

1133
00:50:26.480 --> 00:50:28.880
revealing that she's an assassin for the government and was

1134
00:50:28.920 --> 00:50:31.480
trained by him. He tells her that October ninety eight,

1135
00:50:31.559 --> 00:50:33.760
she was assigned to take out an ammunition dealer, but

1136
00:50:33.840 --> 00:50:37.360
when she failed that she would basically disappeared, and he

1137
00:50:37.400 --> 00:50:39.960
comments that Douglas is clearly aware. Now as the train

1138
00:50:40.000 --> 00:50:42.840
station proves that he has sent men on her, Mitch

1139
00:50:42.920 --> 00:50:45.239
is suspicious and as they get to a destination, he

1140
00:50:45.280 --> 00:50:47.639
grabs a tire iron from a trunk approaches him, and

1141
00:50:47.639 --> 00:50:49.320
that's when Brian Cox is like, hey, you know, what

1142
00:50:49.360 --> 00:50:52.559
are you thinking? But both Samantha and Mitchell in On

1143
00:50:52.880 --> 00:50:55.599
are in this together and they basically take Nathan down

1144
00:50:55.639 --> 00:50:58.119
to the ground, stealing his car. As Samantha comments the

1145
00:50:58.159 --> 00:50:59.840
next move is to meet the fiance on the post.

1146
00:51:00.559 --> 00:51:02.920
Mitch is obviously uneasy about this, but the two drive

1147
00:51:02.960 --> 00:51:03.679
out of the country.

1148
00:51:03.760 --> 00:51:04.639
Yeah, why the hell not?

1149
00:51:06.880 --> 00:51:17.679
Do You Even? Movie? Will be right back, welcome back

1150
00:51:17.719 --> 00:51:18.920
to Do You Even?

1151
00:51:19.079 --> 00:51:21.639
Movie?

1152
00:51:24.239 --> 00:51:25.840
So we see them pull up to a nice house

1153
00:51:25.840 --> 00:51:27.960
with a farm, and we see a man chopping wood

1154
00:51:28.000 --> 00:51:30.880
played by the great David Morse. He's shocked to see

1155
00:51:30.920 --> 00:51:33.480
her as he states that she believes his name is

1156
00:51:33.559 --> 00:51:35.519
Luke and she was going to marry him. That's when

1157
00:51:35.559 --> 00:51:38.159
he drops his wood and embraces her. Calling her Charlie

1158
00:51:38.320 --> 00:51:40.199
lifting her up. But that's when Mitch waste no time

1159
00:51:40.199 --> 00:51:43.320
at all showing him the gun, saying she's like my

1160
00:51:43.400 --> 00:51:46.079
sister and right now I don't trust you, yeah, or

1161
00:51:46.079 --> 00:51:46.800
she's like my daughter.

1162
00:51:46.880 --> 00:51:49.039
Well, and this is you know, this is where we're

1163
00:51:49.039 --> 00:51:52.239
really starting to figure out that these two have bonded, yeah,

1164
00:51:52.320 --> 00:51:55.679
in a special way, and that's important to the story.

1165
00:51:55.519 --> 00:51:58.199
Absolutely is. So the three stand in a stable as

1166
00:51:58.239 --> 00:52:00.400
the guy known as Luke tries to explo that they

1167
00:52:00.440 --> 00:52:02.719
were in love, and Samantha starts rattling off facts that

1168
00:52:02.760 --> 00:52:05.000
she knows about him, asking to speak to him alone,

1169
00:52:05.039 --> 00:52:07.599
as Mitch watches from a distance. As Mitch is watching,

1170
00:52:07.719 --> 00:52:09.719
Nathan sneaks up, putting a gun to him, putting him

1171
00:52:09.719 --> 00:52:11.639
against the wall and telling him to drop the rifle.

1172
00:52:11.840 --> 00:52:13.519
That's when he informs him that he got the address

1173
00:52:13.519 --> 00:52:15.719
from a notebook in his pocket, along with the address

1174
00:52:15.760 --> 00:52:17.880
above the strip club, and this drawing of a penis

1175
00:52:17.920 --> 00:52:20.320
when he goes, that's not a dick, that's a duck.

1176
00:52:21.719 --> 00:52:22.719
Everyone's a critic.

1177
00:52:23.400 --> 00:52:25.800
So that's when he also tells Nathan the situation, and

1178
00:52:25.880 --> 00:52:29.400
Nathan informs her that Max that is the name that

1179
00:52:29.519 --> 00:52:32.000
Uncle Max is one of the the aliases they have

1180
00:52:32.039 --> 00:52:35.039
in this that he's actually the agency, and if they're engaged,

1181
00:52:35.159 --> 00:52:37.559
it means that the guy Luke is a target. So

1182
00:52:37.719 --> 00:52:40.280
Charlie was due to assassinate this guy. So they run out,

1183
00:52:40.320 --> 00:52:42.960
screaming to Samantha as a helicopter shows up and cars

1184
00:52:43.000 --> 00:52:45.199
emerge around them. We see Timothy is in the helicopter

1185
00:52:45.280 --> 00:52:47.199
waving to her with the rifle, and that's when the

1186
00:52:47.239 --> 00:52:49.599
guy had known as Luke punches her, knocking her out,

1187
00:52:49.800 --> 00:52:52.400
which revealing that he is actually Douglas.

1188
00:52:52.800 --> 00:52:55.480
Well, and that's one of the I would say one

1189
00:52:55.519 --> 00:52:59.840
of the themes of this film is identity, Yeah, and suddenly

1190
00:53:00.360 --> 00:53:04.800
and not so subtly. Yeah, Because constantly we're thinking somebody

1191
00:53:04.880 --> 00:53:06.880
is something that they're not, that they're one person when

1192
00:53:06.920 --> 00:53:09.440
they're really somebody else. But we also have characters who

1193
00:53:09.480 --> 00:53:13.079
think there's somebody when they may be somebody else, somebody else,

1194
00:53:13.239 --> 00:53:15.360
And it's not always a bad thing no either.

1195
00:53:15.760 --> 00:53:18.199
So when Samantha comes to, she finds herself tied to

1196
00:53:18.280 --> 00:53:21.920
a water wheel, as Douglas explains. Douglas speaks to Timothy,

1197
00:53:21.960 --> 00:53:24.719
who is now with him, stating he believes her amnesia

1198
00:53:24.800 --> 00:53:26.639
until she showed up here, and now he wants to

1199
00:53:26.679 --> 00:53:28.639
know what she knows and who she's told.

1200
00:53:29.119 --> 00:53:33.199
Da da da da duh. He's gonna kill that white woman, dada.

1201
00:53:34.039 --> 00:53:36.079
So he cranks the wheels, sending her down into the

1202
00:53:36.079 --> 00:53:38.400
freezing water, and that's when she sees the corpse of Nathan,

1203
00:53:38.440 --> 00:53:41.480
who they've already previously drowned. We keep her down there

1204
00:53:41.480 --> 00:53:44.199
for about twenty seconds before wheeling her back up. Timothy

1205
00:53:44.280 --> 00:53:46.840
questions if she remembers anything at all, and he once

1206
00:53:46.840 --> 00:53:49.119
again is convinced that she doesn't and tells Douglas to

1207
00:53:49.199 --> 00:53:50.519
drown her before he leaves.

1208
00:53:50.960 --> 00:53:55.119
And should be mentioned, the water is freezing her lips coat.

1209
00:53:55.199 --> 00:53:57.639
She comes out with her lips blue. Yeah, the first time.

1210
00:53:58.119 --> 00:54:00.400
They're all in winter coats and everything because it's snow around.

1211
00:54:00.440 --> 00:54:04.920
Yeah, like just they really sell how cold it is.

1212
00:54:05.320 --> 00:54:07.920
So Douglas asked her if she's told anyone again, and

1213
00:54:07.960 --> 00:54:11.079
Samantha states that she's not Charlie, and Douglas comments he

1214
00:54:11.119 --> 00:54:12.760
hates to see her like this as she was once

1215
00:54:12.800 --> 00:54:16.000
a hell of a spy, Samantha, as Charlie states, watch

1216
00:54:16.039 --> 00:54:19.760
your back, I'm not done yet. So that's when he

1217
00:54:19.800 --> 00:54:22.719
loves her back into the water. We see flashbacks of

1218
00:54:22.760 --> 00:54:24.920
one eye, Jack and Timothy opening a trunk as he

1219
00:54:24.960 --> 00:54:27.360
instructs Jack to dump her, not do anything with her,

1220
00:54:27.480 --> 00:54:29.480
just kill her and get over this with And that's

1221
00:54:29.480 --> 00:54:31.280
when we see Jack and Charlie on the edge of

1222
00:54:31.320 --> 00:54:33.280
a cliff as he's going to inject her with something

1223
00:54:33.320 --> 00:54:36.039
to poison her. She suddenly comes to stabbing him in

1224
00:54:36.079 --> 00:54:38.079
the eye with the syringd which we forgot to mention

1225
00:54:38.159 --> 00:54:39.800
he is missing one eye and even comments that he

1226
00:54:39.840 --> 00:54:41.599
wants his eye back, yeah.

1227
00:54:41.559 --> 00:54:43.039
You know, well yeah maybe, yeah.

1228
00:54:42.960 --> 00:54:45.480
Yeah, And he goes running and she goes running. That's

1229
00:54:45.480 --> 00:54:47.360
when he fires off several shots at her. One of

1230
00:54:47.400 --> 00:54:49.000
them hits her in the side as she goes over

1231
00:54:49.039 --> 00:54:51.920
the side of the cliff, basically showing the audience now

1232
00:54:51.920 --> 00:54:54.880
that Charlie is back, that this, this rush of memory

1233
00:54:55.000 --> 00:54:56.079
has brought Charlie back.

1234
00:54:56.440 --> 00:54:56.760
Charlie.

1235
00:54:57.840 --> 00:55:01.400
So that is when back in reality, Samantha is emerged

1236
00:55:01.400 --> 00:55:04.360
from the water as Charlie calling Luke Douglas now and

1237
00:55:04.400 --> 00:55:06.320
telling him to let her go and she'll let him

1238
00:55:06.360 --> 00:55:09.119
keep his legs. He questions why is she back, what's

1239
00:55:09.159 --> 00:55:11.239
going on? And she comments, since he touched her, she

1240
00:55:11.280 --> 00:55:13.440
thinks that he needs that she needs to have a bath,

1241
00:55:13.639 --> 00:55:16.639
so Douglas lowers her back into the water again as

1242
00:55:16.719 --> 00:55:18.519
Charlie goes to work on the ropes of one of

1243
00:55:18.679 --> 00:55:21.559
on the her right hand, getting her hand free, and

1244
00:55:21.639 --> 00:55:24.159
then she goes into Nathan's pants, retrieving the pistol that

1245
00:55:24.199 --> 00:55:26.280
he had mentioned in the car as well. Yes, so

1246
00:55:26.320 --> 00:55:28.679
she is now armed. He wheels her back up and

1247
00:55:28.679 --> 00:55:31.360
says she breaks surface. She fires three shots into Douglas,

1248
00:55:31.480 --> 00:55:33.559
dropping him to the ground. She frees her other hand

1249
00:55:33.559 --> 00:55:36.360
and approaches him, and he calls her Samantha, begging for

1250
00:55:36.440 --> 00:55:38.960
his life. And that's when she questions who's Samantha and

1251
00:55:39.119 --> 00:55:42.079
asks where is Mitch? And when we see Mitch, My god,

1252
00:55:42.119 --> 00:55:45.000
my heart always breaks for that moment. I forgot about that. Yeah,

1253
00:55:45.119 --> 00:55:47.239
because he is clearly at the bottom of his basement,

1254
00:55:47.320 --> 00:55:50.159
tied up. They've stripped him and he's been beaten, so

1255
00:55:50.239 --> 00:55:53.360
he's just sitting there just basically waiting to die. Suddenly

1256
00:55:53.400 --> 00:55:56.199
the door opens, we hear gunshots, and then we see

1257
00:55:56.239 --> 00:55:58.599
this door open and this flash of beam of light

1258
00:55:58.679 --> 00:56:00.519
comes through and Charlie stands at the top.

1259
00:56:00.639 --> 00:56:02.559
Yeah. No, it's awesome. It's an awesome moment.

1260
00:56:02.760 --> 00:56:08.440
So now we're in New Jersey finally, which eccent. So

1261
00:56:08.639 --> 00:56:12.199
that is we see that Charlie is now in full swing.

1262
00:56:12.320 --> 00:56:14.880
She's doing her hair, doing her nails, doing her makeup,

1263
00:56:15.000 --> 00:56:17.599
changing everything about her, and Mitch is asleep in the

1264
00:56:17.679 --> 00:56:21.199
other room, not realizing any of this is going on. Well, yeah,

1265
00:56:21.360 --> 00:56:24.639
so that is at the point. Then Mitch also gets

1266
00:56:24.719 --> 00:56:28.360
up and we see that Samantha has torn up pictures

1267
00:56:28.400 --> 00:56:30.760
of her Caitlin and Howe and they're in the trash

1268
00:56:30.800 --> 00:56:32.039
and he retrieves one of them.

1269
00:56:32.199 --> 00:56:35.119
She has some kind of a strange anger towards the

1270
00:56:35.159 --> 00:56:36.039
Samantha light.

1271
00:56:35.960 --> 00:56:39.280
Towards the Samantha life indeed, So that's when he retrieves

1272
00:56:39.320 --> 00:56:41.239
one of them from the trash. As Charlie enters the room,

1273
00:56:41.480 --> 00:56:44.280
he is confused by her new appearance, and even she

1274
00:56:44.360 --> 00:56:46.960
comments that his wound looks infected, and so she goes

1275
00:56:47.000 --> 00:56:48.960
to distract him, lifting up her top as she rips

1276
00:56:48.960 --> 00:56:49.760
the bandage off.

1277
00:56:50.239 --> 00:56:54.000
Such a great moment again, so Shane Black.

1278
00:56:54.360 --> 00:56:56.679
So that's when she introduces herself as Charlie, and of

1279
00:56:56.719 --> 00:56:58.480
course this is taking Mitch aback and she's like, you

1280
00:56:58.480 --> 00:57:00.960
need a drink and he accepts. So Charlie informs him

1281
00:57:01.000 --> 00:57:03.880
Samantha never existed and was just a creation, adding look

1282
00:57:03.920 --> 00:57:06.000
what she did to her, commenting on her large ass

1283
00:57:08.039 --> 00:57:10.440
She requests that they change the subject from Samantha as

1284
00:57:10.519 --> 00:57:12.480
Charlie tells him her plan is to enroll back in

1285
00:57:12.559 --> 00:57:15.880
the agency and start basically taking jobs again. So that's

1286
00:57:15.880 --> 00:57:18.239
when we see Perkins receives a call from Charlie telling

1287
00:57:18.320 --> 00:57:20.679
him that since Douglas is dead, she completed her assignment.

1288
00:57:20.880 --> 00:57:22.599
She adds that she wants to come in, and Perkins

1289
00:57:22.679 --> 00:57:24.679
tries the director to a safe house, but Charlie tells

1290
00:57:24.719 --> 00:57:27.000
him that she's calling the shots and he and will

1291
00:57:27.039 --> 00:57:28.840
reach back out when she's ready to speak to him.

1292
00:57:29.079 --> 00:57:31.599
Perkins then asks Timothy, who is in the office with him,

1293
00:57:31.639 --> 00:57:33.519
if he heard the call, and Timothy questions if she

1294
00:57:33.559 --> 00:57:38.119
remembers Douglas, does she know about Project Honeymoon now, and

1295
00:57:38.159 --> 00:57:40.079
that's when Perkins tells her that he has twenty four

1296
00:57:40.079 --> 00:57:42.320
hours to find her and kill her, and he cannot

1297
00:57:42.320 --> 00:57:44.480
have anyone know that Timothy is working for him or

1298
00:57:44.480 --> 00:57:46.800
it's his ass So the White House has no idea

1299
00:57:46.840 --> 00:57:48.760
that he's got a fucking arms dealer on his payroll.

1300
00:57:49.159 --> 00:57:53.079
Yeah, you know that might actually I think it'd be fine.

1301
00:57:53.159 --> 00:57:55.599
Yeah, you know fine. So Charlie informs Mitch that she

1302
00:57:55.639 --> 00:57:57.920
doesn't trust Perkins and expects him to trace the call

1303
00:57:58.000 --> 00:58:00.480
to their location and if Mitch is captured into then

1304
00:58:00.480 --> 00:58:02.599
that proves good reason that she should not trust Perkins.

1305
00:58:03.119 --> 00:58:05.800
Hey, that's pretty sound logic.

1306
00:58:06.079 --> 00:58:08.360
So that's when they go back to the hotel suite

1307
00:58:08.400 --> 00:58:10.400
and Charlie tries to put the moves on Mitch, biting

1308
00:58:10.440 --> 00:58:13.400
his ears, groping him. Mitch isn't having it, telling her

1309
00:58:13.400 --> 00:58:15.480
that he believes that she wants to fuck him simply

1310
00:58:15.519 --> 00:58:18.719
to basically kill the last side of Amantha. Samantha holding

1311
00:58:18.800 --> 00:58:20.880
up the picture that she had torn, and that's when

1312
00:58:20.920 --> 00:58:22.039
she gets upset again.

1313
00:58:22.719 --> 00:58:25.119
He's not much of a cad after all this.

1314
00:58:25.199 --> 00:58:29.920
Now, So that's when Samantha decides that she's going to

1315
00:58:30.039 --> 00:58:31.800
leave the hotel for a little bit. She starts walking

1316
00:58:31.840 --> 00:58:33.440
the street and a guy to ask her, you know,

1317
00:58:33.480 --> 00:58:36.320
does she wants some company? And she says jokingly says no, no,

1318
00:58:36.559 --> 00:58:38.039
I think if I go this way, I might get raped.

1319
00:58:38.079 --> 00:58:39.920
And that's when the guy's like, well hey and holds

1320
00:58:39.960 --> 00:58:41.639
up a gun, telling her to go into the alley,

1321
00:58:43.000 --> 00:58:44.639
so he gets her into the alley and that's when

1322
00:58:44.679 --> 00:58:48.079
she's looking around for other Headhunters and Mitch then shows

1323
00:58:48.159 --> 00:58:50.280
up as he's got the gun pointed on Samantha and

1324
00:58:50.320 --> 00:58:52.559
basically tells the guy that because the guy's like, this

1325
00:58:52.599 --> 00:58:54.599
is a big fucking gun, and Mitch goes, this isn't

1326
00:58:54.599 --> 00:58:57.239
a ham on rye listening a ham on rye a

1327
00:58:57.719 --> 00:58:59.280
giant fucking hand cannon.

1328
00:58:59.000 --> 00:59:01.559
On this guy. Three fifty seven magna, Yeah.

1329
00:59:01.440 --> 00:59:04.920
Three fifty seven, And that's when Charlie quickly dispatches the

1330
00:59:04.920 --> 00:59:07.119
one head hunter, and then three others show up and

1331
00:59:07.159 --> 00:59:10.320
she dispatches them quickly, confirming that Perkins does want her dead.

1332
00:59:10.440 --> 00:59:12.039
She says they need to get out of New Jersey.

1333
00:59:12.920 --> 00:59:15.199
Good luck. Actually that's one of my favorite lie. He says,

1334
00:59:15.199 --> 00:59:16.760
many have tried and failed. Yeah.

1335
00:59:16.800 --> 00:59:19.159
Mitch even contemplates if she needs him anymore, and that's

1336
00:59:19.199 --> 00:59:21.880
when Charlie comments, good point, before shoving Mitch out the

1337
00:59:21.920 --> 00:59:25.679
door onto the street, and Mitch, being the absolute hero

1338
00:59:25.800 --> 00:59:28.079
that he is, just lays on his back, pulls out

1339
00:59:28.079 --> 00:59:31.159
a cigarette, lights it, smokes it, and she rounds the

1340
00:59:31.159 --> 00:59:33.760
block like a couple times, like speeding through, then pulls

1341
00:59:33.840 --> 00:59:35.039
up next to him is like, hey, get in.

1342
00:59:36.719 --> 00:59:39.239
It's a great I there's so much to love about

1343
00:59:39.239 --> 00:59:39.639
this film.

1344
00:59:39.800 --> 00:59:42.119
So Mitch asked, you know, does he have used for

1345
00:59:42.199 --> 00:59:43.760
him now? And that's when she says, yes, she's leaving

1346
00:59:43.800 --> 00:59:45.800
the country and she needs money in a new identity

1347
00:59:45.800 --> 00:59:47.360
and Mitch's like, oh, yeah, well, let me just go

1348
00:59:47.440 --> 00:59:49.519
into where I have all this money, and that's when

1349
00:59:49.519 --> 00:59:51.400
she had she doesn't need to worry about that because

1350
00:59:51.480 --> 00:59:53.679
the key that's on her charm bracelet is actually for

1351
00:59:53.719 --> 00:59:56.639
a safety deposit box in Boston and that they have

1352
00:59:56.719 --> 00:59:58.639
to return to Honesdale to get it.

1353
01:00:00.159 --> 01:00:03.079
Honesdale. That sounds like a Central Jersey to me.

1354
01:00:03.400 --> 01:00:05.440
So we see the next morning they've arrived as Charlie

1355
01:00:05.480 --> 01:00:09.199
leaps out of the moving car telling basically telling Mitch

1356
01:00:09.239 --> 01:00:11.519
that if there's any trouble, to warn her by honking.

1357
01:00:11.559 --> 01:00:13.639
And that's when she sneaks over a fence and finds

1358
01:00:13.719 --> 01:00:18.840
Ronald smoking a cigarette, and that's when he's like miss

1359
01:00:18.920 --> 01:00:21.280
Kane and she's like, Ronald, what I tell you about smoking?

1360
01:00:21.320 --> 01:00:23.559
Taking a cigarette from him, taking a hit, And that's

1361
01:00:23.559 --> 01:00:25.320
when she also says, if you tell anybody you saw me,

1362
01:00:25.360 --> 01:00:26.559
I'll come back and fucking kill you.

1363
01:00:26.800 --> 01:00:30.280
Yeah, yeah, do You Even?

1364
01:00:30.400 --> 01:00:41.519
Movie will be right back. Welcome back to do You Even?

1365
01:00:41.639 --> 01:00:44.199
Movie.

1366
01:00:46.880 --> 01:00:49.320
So that's when Samantha sneaks into the house. She's searching

1367
01:00:49.320 --> 01:00:51.400
for Caitlin's bear because that's where the charm bracelet was

1368
01:00:51.400 --> 01:00:53.280
put around its neck, and that's when she finds the

1369
01:00:53.280 --> 01:00:55.800
bear with the key. Charlie looks out the window though,

1370
01:00:55.840 --> 01:00:57.480
as she looks over to the church where they're having

1371
01:00:57.519 --> 01:00:59.719
the Christmas program and looks through a scope of her

1372
01:00:59.760 --> 01:01:03.079
rife full looking at Hal and Caitlin. Suddenly Mitch sounds

1373
01:01:03.079 --> 01:01:05.360
the horn, warning her that intruders are here. As we see,

1374
01:01:05.360 --> 01:01:07.519
company has arrived and is pursuing him in the car,

1375
01:01:07.599 --> 01:01:10.320
firing at him. So then she goes out the back door.

1376
01:01:10.760 --> 01:01:12.760
We see a pair of skates. She grabs the pair

1377
01:01:12.760 --> 01:01:16.480
of skates, and then fucking Samantha as Charlie is completely

1378
01:01:16.519 --> 01:01:19.760
skating across this rink, keeping up with Mitch and these

1379
01:01:19.800 --> 01:01:21.639
guys that are shooting on them, And then the car

1380
01:01:21.679 --> 01:01:23.800
goes onto the ice and she starts gunning them down

1381
01:01:23.840 --> 01:01:25.559
on the ice on skates.

1382
01:01:25.920 --> 01:01:29.480
It's guys, you gotta you gotta see this.

1383
01:01:29.519 --> 01:01:32.639
Yeah, you gotta see this movie. So she gets everybody

1384
01:01:32.679 --> 01:01:34.320
dead in the car and that's when.

1385
01:01:34.760 --> 01:01:38.480
With such a quickness, i mean, shown three times that

1386
01:01:38.559 --> 01:01:40.679
the windshield and three guys are dead.

1387
01:01:40.840 --> 01:01:43.159
And Mitch witnesses us all. So we see Caitlin at

1388
01:01:43.159 --> 01:01:46.000
the at the church as the program's finishing, and that's

1389
01:01:46.000 --> 01:01:49.239
when Timothy swoops in, gassing her, kidnapping her, even shows

1390
01:01:49.239 --> 01:01:50.920
the youth leader a gun and basically tells her to

1391
01:01:50.960 --> 01:01:52.960
stay out, stay out of this, and stay quiet, don't

1392
01:01:53.000 --> 01:01:55.760
tell anybody. So Charlie and Mitch continue driving as he

1393
01:01:55.840 --> 01:01:57.840
asks could she and shot them the shoulder, and that's

1394
01:01:57.880 --> 01:02:00.599
when she tells him to back off. Charlie's phone starts

1395
01:02:00.679 --> 01:02:03.119
ringing as the call comes in from Timothy telling her

1396
01:02:03.159 --> 01:02:05.400
that he has Caitlin and he asks for her location.

1397
01:02:05.519 --> 01:02:07.519
As she gives it, he tells her he doesn't like

1398
01:02:07.559 --> 01:02:09.599
cell phones that he wants her to go to a landline.

1399
01:02:09.719 --> 01:02:12.039
That's when Charlie hangs up, tells Mitch the situation, and

1400
01:02:12.159 --> 01:02:14.960
Mit suggests why don't they trace the call? And she's like, well,

1401
01:02:14.960 --> 01:02:16.119
how are we going to do that? And he's like,

1402
01:02:16.320 --> 01:02:17.360
let's go to the phone.

1403
01:02:17.079 --> 01:02:20.639
Company, you know, i mean, sounds obvious.

1404
01:02:20.760 --> 01:02:22.719
So they break into the phone company. They've got their

1405
01:02:22.760 --> 01:02:24.400
guns and that's when they tell one of the workers

1406
01:02:24.400 --> 01:02:27.000
that she's got forty minutes to basically do a trace

1407
01:02:27.039 --> 01:02:29.039
and run a patch, and that's when Timothy calls in.

1408
01:02:29.280 --> 01:02:31.239
Charlie asks him to verify. Well, let me back up

1409
01:02:31.239 --> 01:02:33.320
for a second, because when Timothy calls in, Samuel L.

1410
01:02:33.400 --> 01:02:35.519
Jackson is at the desk and he's like holiday inn.

1411
01:02:35.719 --> 01:02:38.159
And that's when Timothy asked for her room, and that's

1412
01:02:38.159 --> 01:02:41.440
when Charlie asked like that she is at the location.

1413
01:02:41.719 --> 01:02:43.559
She keeps him on the line, and that's when they

1414
01:02:43.559 --> 01:02:46.159
find out that he is at Niagara Falls and that

1415
01:02:46.519 --> 01:02:50.079
she also that he's going to keep Caitlin until she arrives,

1416
01:02:50.400 --> 01:02:52.519
and also that he got the number off her cask

1417
01:02:52.559 --> 01:02:56.440
and confirming that he does really have her. So that's

1418
01:02:56.440 --> 01:02:58.559
when she decides that they're going to go to Niagara

1419
01:02:58.559 --> 01:03:02.599
Falls because that is the confirmation of where Operation Honeymoon

1420
01:03:03.000 --> 01:03:05.159
was going to be started. So Mitch and Charlie arrive

1421
01:03:05.199 --> 01:03:08.239
at Timothy's compound in Niagara Falls. We see Perkins is

1422
01:03:08.280 --> 01:03:11.119
there and Timothy look over Caitlyn as Charlie breaks down

1423
01:03:11.119 --> 01:03:12.679
the plans for Mitch that she is going to lay

1424
01:03:12.719 --> 01:03:14.840
down cover fire for him and she's gonna try to

1425
01:03:14.880 --> 01:03:17.280
sneak in as well and give him give her a

1426
01:03:17.280 --> 01:03:19.840
signal if anything goes wrong. Charlie tells him that they're

1427
01:03:19.840 --> 01:03:22.000
gonna they may possibly blow her head off and this

1428
01:03:22.039 --> 01:03:24.000
is the last time that she'll ever be pretty. She

1429
01:03:24.079 --> 01:03:26.760
kisses him on the cheek and advances towards the compound.

1430
01:03:27.199 --> 01:03:29.920
It's a very sweet moment, so really great.

1431
01:03:30.000 --> 01:03:33.039
Yeah, we see that the compound is heavily guarded, but

1432
01:03:33.119 --> 01:03:35.400
Charlie quickly dispatches one of the guys and then she

1433
01:03:35.559 --> 01:03:39.639
notices a candle burning in the window.

1434
01:03:39.719 --> 01:03:41.519
I can remember when I can see why you were

1435
01:03:41.599 --> 01:03:42.320
choked up by that.

1436
01:03:42.639 --> 01:03:45.679
So she quickly kills the guard that's guarding Caitlin by

1437
01:03:45.840 --> 01:03:47.920
knocking on the door and she shoots through the peepole.

1438
01:03:48.280 --> 01:03:50.679
That's when she sneaks Caitlyn out, but Mitch watches her,

1439
01:03:50.920 --> 01:03:53.599
and that's when Timothy sneaks up very lethal weapon like

1440
01:03:53.639 --> 01:03:56.800
with what's his face? Oh my god, I can't think

1441
01:03:56.840 --> 01:03:59.280
of the villain's name and lethal weapon. That is the

1442
01:03:59.280 --> 01:04:02.880
guy from lyyl Lah and Halloween six, the head of

1443
01:04:02.920 --> 01:04:04.079
Shadow Company.

1444
01:04:04.920 --> 01:04:07.599
Steaks up on the way the Siper arrival.

1445
01:04:07.679 --> 01:04:10.559
Yeah, so that's when we find out that he was

1446
01:04:10.559 --> 01:04:13.000
completely onto this plan. He alerts his men. Lights come

1447
01:04:13.039 --> 01:04:15.320
up in the yard, and that's when she's blasted at

1448
01:04:15.679 --> 01:04:18.199
and she falls into a basement, at a basement that

1449
01:04:18.320 --> 01:04:20.559
is now being riddled with bullets, and as the ricochet

1450
01:04:20.599 --> 01:04:23.559
off hitting kerosene, one man threatens to drop a match

1451
01:04:23.559 --> 01:04:25.000
if she doesn't want to back down, and that's when

1452
01:04:25.039 --> 01:04:27.559
we also see that Caitlin was gifted a doll by Perkins.

1453
01:04:27.559 --> 01:04:29.840
It's a peeing doll, and we just see that she

1454
01:04:29.840 --> 01:04:32.079
looks out of this doll, looks at the kerosene, and

1455
01:04:32.119 --> 01:04:34.360
that's all we get for this moment, for a moment.

1456
01:04:34.800 --> 01:04:36.880
So Mitch and Charlie are apprehended, held in front of

1457
01:04:36.920 --> 01:04:39.719
Perkins and Timothy, and Charlie puts together the operation Honeymoon

1458
01:04:39.760 --> 01:04:42.239
was put together for budget cuts in the government. Project

1459
01:04:42.239 --> 01:04:44.920
Honeymoon was intended to be a false flag chemical bomb

1460
01:04:45.119 --> 01:04:47.760
detonation in Niagara Falls planned by the CIA in an

1461
01:04:47.760 --> 01:04:51.559
attempt to blame Islamic terrorists and secure more funding. Charlie

1462
01:04:51.559 --> 01:04:53.880
realizes that Timothy and a new group are plotting to

1463
01:04:53.880 --> 01:04:57.159
restage the attack led by Perkins in this case, and

1464
01:04:57.280 --> 01:04:59.880
Mitch asked about faking the attack, and that's some Perkin confirms,

1465
01:05:00.000 --> 01:05:02.000
you know, you can't fit killing four thousand people, So

1466
01:05:02.039 --> 01:05:03.159
I guess we're just gonna do it.

1467
01:05:03.679 --> 01:05:06.519
Hey, you know what, if it's anything worth doing, is

1468
01:05:06.559 --> 01:05:07.559
worth doing, right.

1469
01:05:07.480 --> 01:05:09.280
So they're gonna do it via a chemical bomb on

1470
01:05:09.320 --> 01:05:11.760
a semi that they're going to send into a nearby town.

1471
01:05:12.000 --> 01:05:14.400
And that is when he also states that they're going

1472
01:05:14.440 --> 01:05:17.800
to suffocate Charlie and Caitlin into a freezer that is

1473
01:05:17.840 --> 01:05:20.199
also at this spot. And that's when Charlie takes a

1474
01:05:20.239 --> 01:05:22.840
second to tell Timothy to look into Caitlyn's eyes because

1475
01:05:22.840 --> 01:05:25.679
that night that her and Timothy had a rendezvous before

1476
01:05:25.719 --> 01:05:29.360
everything went south, they had sex and Caitlin is his

1477
01:05:29.519 --> 01:05:32.320
daughter oo, and she's like, you know, look into it,

1478
01:05:32.360 --> 01:05:33.639
look into he rise if you don't believe me.

1479
01:05:34.159 --> 01:05:36.039
That's a great moment too. So when he looks the

1480
01:05:36.119 --> 01:05:39.320
kid in the eyes, regardless of the fact that the

1481
01:05:39.400 --> 01:05:44.360
child may favor him slightly. Yeah, what sells the idea

1482
01:05:44.480 --> 01:05:47.840
that he sees himself in the little girl's eyes is

1483
01:05:47.920 --> 01:05:51.639
his acting and the music. Yeah, because the music swells

1484
01:05:51.719 --> 01:05:56.800
and becomes really intense telling us that the reality is

1485
01:05:56.840 --> 01:05:59.639
that he sees his own eyes in her eyes. And

1486
01:05:59.800 --> 01:06:02.880
I I love that moment because that is such a

1487
01:06:03.000 --> 01:06:08.679
hard moment to imagine doing well. But in reality, all

1488
01:06:08.719 --> 01:06:10.320
it took was the music.

1489
01:06:10.320 --> 01:06:13.679
And Gena Davis just basically uses his own words against

1490
01:06:13.719 --> 01:06:17.079
him and basically says, am I lying, And he's pissed

1491
01:06:17.119 --> 01:06:20.079
so he walks out, and that's when Geena Davis as

1492
01:06:20.440 --> 01:06:23.840
Charlie tells Caitlin that they're gonna hibernate just like the

1493
01:06:23.880 --> 01:06:26.000
bears did, because the intention is to kill them both,

1494
01:06:26.000 --> 01:06:29.480
suffocating them in the freezer. Yeah, so that's when we

1495
01:06:29.559 --> 01:06:31.920
also see that they shut the door, turning the freezer

1496
01:06:31.960 --> 01:06:33.920
on to kill Charlie and Caitlin, but Charlie gets to

1497
01:06:33.960 --> 01:06:37.320
work hacking at the ground outside. Timothy's men load the

1498
01:06:37.360 --> 01:06:40.079
chemical bomb into the tanker for the attack, while Charlie

1499
01:06:40.079 --> 01:06:42.320
digs under the freezer door, making a small gap and

1500
01:06:42.360 --> 01:06:45.320
then using Caitlyn's retainer and the doll with the kerosene

1501
01:06:45.320 --> 01:06:48.320
in it as she as the doll, pies the kerosene.

1502
01:06:48.679 --> 01:06:54.559
Which filling the peeing baby doll with kerosene. Genius, so good, genius.

1503
01:06:54.599 --> 01:06:56.639
So that's when she goes to work on the ground

1504
01:06:56.679 --> 01:06:59.119
trying to pound it and get a spark going. Meanwhile,

1505
01:06:59.119 --> 01:07:00.840
Timothy goes to visit Mitch, who was tied to a

1506
01:07:00.880 --> 01:07:02.840
chair in the hotel that's on the compound, telling him

1507
01:07:02.840 --> 01:07:04.880
that since it's Christmas Eve, he'll give him a choice

1508
01:07:04.920 --> 01:07:07.519
a knife or a gun, and he also throws the

1509
01:07:07.559 --> 01:07:09.960
knife right at his crotch but misses, like barely.

1510
01:07:10.239 --> 01:07:12.760
Well, I I on purpose.

1511
01:07:12.400 --> 01:07:15.119
On purpose, Yes, So Charlie can't get the spark going.

1512
01:07:15.159 --> 01:07:17.000
She starts to break down, crying, and that's when Kaitlyn

1513
01:07:17.039 --> 01:07:19.599
pulls out matches from her cast, saying that she kept

1514
01:07:19.599 --> 01:07:21.280
the matches in there to make sure that she was

1515
01:07:21.320 --> 01:07:24.559
able to light a candle for her every night. And

1516
01:07:24.639 --> 01:07:27.599
Charlie grabs on to Caitlin starts embracing her, and that's

1517
01:07:27.599 --> 01:07:29.760
when Caitlyn's like, are we gonna die? And She's like, no,

1518
01:07:29.840 --> 01:07:33.119
We're not gonna die. They're gonna die.

1519
01:07:33.840 --> 01:07:36.559
Man, She's gonna be describing that to the therapist.

1520
01:07:36.760 --> 01:07:40.159
Yeah, so lighting the fire, Timothy is about the fire

1521
01:07:40.199 --> 01:07:42.760
on Mitch. And the bomb goes or the fire, the

1522
01:07:42.800 --> 01:07:46.440
explosion goes off, and fucking Mitch is blasted out of

1523
01:07:46.480 --> 01:07:49.599
the window of this hotel one hundred feet into the snow.

1524
01:07:50.159 --> 01:07:51.000
Yeah, and he.

1525
01:07:51.000 --> 01:07:52.760
Still has the knife attached to his chairs. He breaks

1526
01:07:52.800 --> 01:07:54.320
the ground. The guard comes up to him, he takes

1527
01:07:54.320 --> 01:07:57.320
the knife, rams it right into a skull. Such a

1528
01:07:57.320 --> 01:07:58.400
badass mood.

1529
01:07:58.280 --> 01:08:01.960
It's oh my god, this this finale is about to

1530
01:08:02.000 --> 01:08:03.559
get so crazy about too.

1531
01:08:03.760 --> 01:08:06.519
So he sees that the explosion was definitely Charlie calls

1532
01:08:06.519 --> 01:08:09.000
her a foxy bitch, and that's when Charlie and Caitlyn

1533
01:08:09.079 --> 01:08:11.719
go outside and Charlie begins killing Timothy's men as she

1534
01:08:11.760 --> 01:08:14.000
tells Caitlin to hide. Mitch getting a hold of a

1535
01:08:14.000 --> 01:08:16.800
walkie talkie watches as Caitlin taking a hiding spot in

1536
01:08:16.920 --> 01:08:19.279
the cargo of a truck just happens to be the

1537
01:08:19.319 --> 01:08:21.720
truck that they've loaded the bomb onto.

1538
01:08:22.479 --> 01:08:23.520
What are the odds?

1539
01:08:23.560 --> 01:08:25.560
So we see Timothy tell his men the plan is

1540
01:08:25.600 --> 01:08:28.359
not changing, and as they are to go on a

1541
01:08:28.399 --> 01:08:31.439
schedule loading the corpse that they are duping the crime

1542
01:08:31.479 --> 01:08:33.520
onto and into the car that they're going to have

1543
01:08:33.640 --> 01:08:36.079
basically because they're going to set the bomb off five

1544
01:08:36.119 --> 01:08:37.920
miles down the road, the car is going to crash

1545
01:08:38.000 --> 01:08:39.720
and the semi is going to crash, causing the bomb

1546
01:08:39.720 --> 01:08:41.600
to go off when it reaches three hundred and twelve degrees.

1547
01:08:41.640 --> 01:08:43.039
That's when the chemical bomb will.

1548
01:08:42.840 --> 01:08:46.159
Go off, which is almost as good as the plot

1549
01:08:46.159 --> 01:08:47.119
of Speed, I guess.

1550
01:08:47.039 --> 01:08:49.560
A little bit. So Charlie is reached by Mitch, who

1551
01:08:49.560 --> 01:08:51.640
tells her he's gonna go after Caitlin with her his

1552
01:08:51.720 --> 01:08:53.640
back up. Through the scope, we see Mitch start to

1553
01:08:53.640 --> 01:08:55.359
make his way to the ground of the truck, and

1554
01:08:55.439 --> 01:08:57.880
she is giving him cover fire. He's also laying down

1555
01:08:57.880 --> 01:09:00.800
some fire as well, but unfortunately he's ambush and shot

1556
01:09:00.880 --> 01:09:03.159
down beside the truck, and we think this probably is

1557
01:09:03.199 --> 01:09:06.479
the end of what is Samuel Jackson's story in this movie.

1558
01:09:06.680 --> 01:09:09.880
I mean, damn, he is bloody, he is hurt.

1559
01:09:10.039 --> 01:09:12.479
So the truck begins to move out, with Caitlin still inside.

1560
01:09:12.479 --> 01:09:14.680
A bloody Mitch wiggles in the snow by the dupe car.

1561
01:09:14.960 --> 01:09:17.680
Charlie races off through the snowy forest, shooting a guard

1562
01:09:17.760 --> 01:09:20.560
dead and into the car and stealing it. But Timothy

1563
01:09:20.640 --> 01:09:22.720
is onto her, sending more men and even sending the

1564
01:09:22.800 --> 01:09:23.800
chopper back into the year.

1565
01:09:23.920 --> 01:09:25.800
After her get through the chop.

1566
01:09:25.920 --> 01:09:27.840
So we cut to the nearby town where a Christmas

1567
01:09:27.880 --> 01:09:30.720
Eve celebration is in progress. Charlie speeds through the town.

1568
01:09:30.800 --> 01:09:33.119
She hops onto the bomb truck, throwing the driver out

1569
01:09:33.159 --> 01:09:34.880
and she begins driving the car through the town with

1570
01:09:34.920 --> 01:09:37.840
Timothy's men right in pursuit. Getting the truck out of town.

1571
01:09:37.920 --> 01:09:40.600
Charlie goes to break but in the smarts of the plan,

1572
01:09:40.720 --> 01:09:42.359
the brake line's been cut, so as soon as she

1573
01:09:42.439 --> 01:09:44.760
hits that brake, that break line severs, and now she

1574
01:09:44.800 --> 01:09:47.319
has no control as she's going down a fricking incline.

1575
01:09:47.560 --> 01:09:51.079
Yeah, and yeah, I'll be going down an incline in

1576
01:09:51.079 --> 01:09:54.119
a pick or a semi truck. Is not easy, no,

1577
01:09:54.439 --> 01:09:55.520
and that's with breaks.

1578
01:09:55.520 --> 01:09:57.720
And that is when she says the beautiful line of

1579
01:09:57.880 --> 01:10:00.439
suck my dick, every one of you bastards. As she

1580
01:10:00.720 --> 01:10:04.079
rams through the brick wall of this bridge, Charlie crashes

1581
01:10:04.119 --> 01:10:06.239
the truck, turning it onto its side. The truck skirts

1582
01:10:06.239 --> 01:10:09.319
along the road, hitting right into Timothy's car, which Timothy's

1583
01:10:09.319 --> 01:10:12.319
car then flips over, and Charlie is surfing on top

1584
01:10:12.319 --> 01:10:17.079
of this semi Yes, yes, so she collides, flipping the car,

1585
01:10:17.199 --> 01:10:19.920
sending Charlie flying. Timothy ambushes her as they get into

1586
01:10:19.920 --> 01:10:21.960
a brawl with Timothy arm with a knife and she

1587
01:10:22.000 --> 01:10:24.199
even comments, oh honey, only four inches, and that's what

1588
01:10:24.239 --> 01:10:26.960
Timothy says, you will feel me, So she warms her

1589
01:10:27.520 --> 01:10:29.720
arms herself with a chain and the two fight over

1590
01:10:29.880 --> 01:10:31.960
and throwing themselves over the side of the bridge. As

1591
01:10:31.960 --> 01:10:34.600
Timothy is sent into the water below. Charlie clings to

1592
01:10:34.600 --> 01:10:37.239
a chain fence climbs back up as Timothy has also

1593
01:10:37.279 --> 01:10:38.920
survived and emerges on another side.

1594
01:10:39.600 --> 01:10:43.279
Jeez, it's so much action. The ending is it's almost

1595
01:10:43.399 --> 01:10:44.119
mind belding.

1596
01:10:46.159 --> 01:10:56.960
Do you even? Movie? Will be right back, welcome back

1597
01:10:57.000 --> 01:10:58.239
to do You even?

1598
01:10:58.359 --> 01:11:00.920
Movie?

1599
01:11:03.640 --> 01:11:06.279
So Charlie runs to Caitlin as the helicopter begins firing

1600
01:11:06.319 --> 01:11:08.880
on her, shooting a flare into the gunman's chest. As

1601
01:11:08.880 --> 01:11:11.359
he completely goes, a flame falls out of the helicopter

1602
01:11:11.399 --> 01:11:13.279
and he catches himself on some Christmas lights that are

1603
01:11:13.279 --> 01:11:15.359
strung up on the bridge, and that basically holds him

1604
01:11:15.359 --> 01:11:17.880
in place, which may come back in a second. Who knows, Oh,

1605
01:11:17.920 --> 01:11:20.920
I don't know. So that's when we also see that

1606
01:11:21.319 --> 01:11:24.479
Charlie rescues Caitlyn as she tells her to run. Caitlyn

1607
01:11:24.520 --> 01:11:26.199
begs her not to leave, but Charlie tells her that

1608
01:11:26.199 --> 01:11:28.359
she's right behind her, and by this point Charlie is

1609
01:11:28.399 --> 01:11:31.520
succumbing to her wombs and collapses right on the bridge,

1610
01:11:31.800 --> 01:11:34.479
so Caitlyn turns around as she stops running, looking back.

1611
01:11:34.680 --> 01:11:37.039
That's when Timothy flags down the helicopter to pick him up.

1612
01:11:37.239 --> 01:11:40.279
Caitlyn joins Charlie at her side, apologizing for leaving her,

1613
01:11:40.319 --> 01:11:42.720
calling her mommy, telling her to get up, basically doing

1614
01:11:42.800 --> 01:11:45.000
everything in the scene at the ice rink before. Yeah,

1615
01:11:45.319 --> 01:11:47.520
and that's when she's basically says, you know you can't die.

1616
01:11:47.560 --> 01:11:50.319
Stop being a little baby. You're not dead, and she

1617
01:11:50.359 --> 01:11:53.079
starts crying, ordering her to stand up right this minute.

1618
01:11:53.359 --> 01:11:56.359
Charlie comes too, slowly getting off the ground. The two

1619
01:11:56.439 --> 01:11:58.840
walk as we see Timothy now in the helicopter telling

1620
01:11:58.840 --> 01:12:00.399
his men to take them to the bridge. He is

1621
01:12:00.439 --> 01:12:04.640
not leaving until this bitch is dead, so he quickly

1622
01:12:04.640 --> 01:12:07.840
finds Charlie and Caitlyn on the bridge, opens fire, and

1623
01:12:07.880 --> 01:12:09.399
that's when they take shelter on the side of the

1624
01:12:09.399 --> 01:12:12.239
truck and Charlie, using the truck radio, begs for help

1625
01:12:12.279 --> 01:12:14.239
as one of the government men is like, no, no,

1626
01:12:14.279 --> 01:12:17.880
we can't do it. I'm sorry, whereas suddenly a bloody

1627
01:12:17.920 --> 01:12:20.680
Mitch comes into frames sitting in the driver's seat of

1628
01:12:20.720 --> 01:12:27.199
the dupe vehicle, drives out, commenting you can't kill me, motherfuckers, and.

1629
01:12:27.800 --> 01:12:29.359
We're not even selling it hard.

1630
01:12:29.359 --> 01:12:33.720
On his bringback, they have a like a electric guitar

1631
01:12:36.600 --> 01:12:40.279
whies out of the back of this semi driving onto

1632
01:12:40.279 --> 01:12:42.279
the road. He joins Charlie on the bridge with Caitlyn

1633
01:12:42.359 --> 01:12:45.359
as tim Timothy keeps firing on them. She gets Caitlyn

1634
01:12:45.399 --> 01:12:48.239
into the car and draws Timothy's attention away and he

1635
01:12:48.279 --> 01:12:49.920
follows her to the center of the bridge where the

1636
01:12:50.840 --> 01:12:53.319
helicopter guy's body is still a flame. But now she

1637
01:12:53.359 --> 01:12:55.319
sees those Christmas lights are hanging and they might be

1638
01:12:55.359 --> 01:12:57.640
some leverage to pull her up. As she slices the

1639
01:12:57.640 --> 01:12:59.560
strate out of Christmas lights, it sends her up. As

1640
01:12:59.600 --> 01:13:02.439
she grabs machine gun off the dead guard fires an

1641
01:13:02.600 --> 01:13:05.479
entire clip into Timothy, who falls out right on top

1642
01:13:05.520 --> 01:13:07.880
of the semi on the bomb. Because we did forget

1643
01:13:07.920 --> 01:13:09.800
to mention that she did tell Timothy that she was

1644
01:13:09.920 --> 01:13:11.760
that he was gonna die screaming and she was gonna

1645
01:13:11.760 --> 01:13:12.479
be there to watch.

1646
01:13:13.319 --> 01:13:14.960
Well, that's always good to keep your promises.

1647
01:13:15.119 --> 01:13:17.039
Yeah, So she fires an entire clip into him. He

1648
01:13:17.079 --> 01:13:18.680
falls on top of the truck and that's when she says,

1649
01:13:18.680 --> 01:13:20.920
I told you you'd die screaming. You motherfucker. Such a

1650
01:13:20.960 --> 01:13:24.520
good line. And that's when we also see that he

1651
01:13:24.600 --> 01:13:26.560
is now on top of the tanker. She gets into

1652
01:13:26.600 --> 01:13:28.680
the car with Mitch. The bomb is getting ready to

1653
01:13:28.680 --> 01:13:31.800
go off. Mitch is speeding away. We see two one

1654
01:13:32.279 --> 01:13:35.359
the truck blows up. And when I say this truck

1655
01:13:35.399 --> 01:13:39.520
blows up, the bridge blows up. The bridge is out.

1656
01:13:39.800 --> 01:13:43.359
Everything in the eyeshot a.

1657
01:13:43.399 --> 01:13:46.159
Ready Harlan fireball that we have come to know and love.

1658
01:13:46.640 --> 01:13:49.399
As we see them speeding away from nothing but flames

1659
01:13:49.399 --> 01:13:52.520
behind them, and that's when literally it starts raining cars

1660
01:13:52.560 --> 01:13:54.880
that are on fire because the bridge is blown up.

1661
01:13:54.920 --> 01:13:57.279
Set these cars on fire, so they're raining down in.

1662
01:13:57.199 --> 01:14:00.520
Front of them. It's a sight to behold, really is.

1663
01:14:00.640 --> 01:14:03.119
It really makes you feel like it's Christmas.

1664
01:14:03.159 --> 01:14:04.960
So we see them get away from the center of

1665
01:14:05.000 --> 01:14:07.720
the bridge, which is completely gone now there is no bridge,

1666
01:14:07.920 --> 01:14:10.319
and that's when sometime later down the road, Mitch pulls

1667
01:14:10.359 --> 01:14:12.680
off to the side, stating he can't drive anymore. And

1668
01:14:12.720 --> 01:14:14.640
he even asked Charlie if she's okay, and she's like,

1669
01:14:14.680 --> 01:14:17.279
are you stupid? And he tells Caitlin that she's got

1670
01:14:17.319 --> 01:14:19.479
her mommy's eyes and let no one tell her different.

1671
01:14:19.520 --> 01:14:21.840
And Charlie tells him, hey, hang on, don't you remember

1672
01:14:21.880 --> 01:14:23.760
we're rich now as she holds up the bracelets.

1673
01:14:24.239 --> 01:14:24.520
Yep.

1674
01:14:25.000 --> 01:14:27.640
So we see Charlie sometime later in the future driving

1675
01:14:27.640 --> 01:14:30.199
down the road in a corvette as the President calls

1676
01:14:30.199 --> 01:14:33.920
her apologizing for Perkins, you know, telling him wrong, and

1677
01:14:34.000 --> 01:14:35.920
even offering to bring her back into the field and

1678
01:14:35.960 --> 01:14:37.680
that he's got a handsome sum for her if she

1679
01:14:37.720 --> 01:14:40.319
wants it. She turns him down, but she's saying that

1680
01:14:40.359 --> 01:14:42.359
she's got all the money she needs, but there is

1681
01:14:42.399 --> 01:14:43.319
a favor that well.

1682
01:14:43.439 --> 01:14:45.640
She says, you'd be surprised how much money a teacher

1683
01:14:45.680 --> 01:14:46.359
can make, and we.

1684
01:14:46.279 --> 01:14:47.880
See that she's got the loot at this point, So

1685
01:14:47.920 --> 01:14:49.960
that's when she also asked the President for a favor,

1686
01:14:50.000 --> 01:14:52.279
and that's when we cut to Larry King live.

1687
01:14:52.720 --> 01:14:57.079
Yes, and it is literally actually Larry King and.

1688
01:14:57.000 --> 01:14:59.800
Mitch is a guest on there as they're exposing the

1689
01:15:00.079 --> 01:15:01.880
eruption that has happened in the government, and he's a

1690
01:15:01.920 --> 01:15:03.880
special guest being interviewed by Larry.

1691
01:15:04.239 --> 01:15:07.279
Yeah, I love I love that moment too, because he's

1692
01:15:07.359 --> 01:15:09.319
just he's just chewing it up.

1693
01:15:09.239 --> 01:15:12.039
Showing anything. And we also see that Todd and his

1694
01:15:12.119 --> 01:15:14.560
mother are watching, so his son and his ex wife

1695
01:15:14.560 --> 01:15:16.840
are watching. We cut back to Charlie, who is now

1696
01:15:16.880 --> 01:15:19.239
living as Samantha again. They bought a farm and in

1697
01:15:19.279 --> 01:15:22.119
a countryside. She's enjoying lunch with how but we also

1698
01:15:22.199 --> 01:15:24.319
hear that an annoying cricket is right by them and

1699
01:15:24.359 --> 01:15:27.039
they're eating I think they're eating chicken and yeah, and

1700
01:15:27.079 --> 01:15:29.399
that's when she takes her knife, throws it, and the

1701
01:15:29.439 --> 01:15:30.600
cricket stops chirping.

1702
01:15:31.239 --> 01:15:33.720
It's a pretty great moment because you don't really you

1703
01:15:33.840 --> 01:15:35.720
just kind of don't even think about the cricket sound

1704
01:15:35.720 --> 01:15:36.479
because they're outside.

1705
01:15:36.520 --> 01:15:37.079
They're outside.

1706
01:15:37.159 --> 01:15:39.000
Yeah, yeah, and then it just stopped, just stops.

1707
01:15:39.000 --> 01:15:41.159
So that's when Hale and Samantha joined Caitlin. As we

1708
01:15:41.159 --> 01:15:43.600
see they bought a farm. Now they're living in the countryside.

1709
01:15:43.600 --> 01:15:46.399
They're happy. The camera pulls out. We see the beautiful house,

1710
01:15:46.439 --> 01:15:49.239
the farm, animals and everything, and that, my friends, is

1711
01:15:49.359 --> 01:15:52.159
nineteen ninety Six's The Long Kiss good.

1712
01:15:52.039 --> 01:15:57.560
Night and I mean a perfect happy ending. Yeah, definitely

1713
01:15:57.760 --> 01:16:02.279
a feel good action movie. Yeah, where nobody we liked

1714
01:16:02.359 --> 01:16:03.000
gets hurt.

1715
01:16:03.119 --> 01:16:07.800
No, not at all. Well, Nathan, so would you like

1716
01:16:07.840 --> 01:16:09.359
to know some fun things about the film.

1717
01:16:09.600 --> 01:16:10.439
They better be fun.

1718
01:16:10.600 --> 01:16:11.960
What would you guess the budget is?

1719
01:16:12.520 --> 01:16:17.880
I mean, it's a lot. I'm gonna guess higher than

1720
01:16:17.920 --> 01:16:19.680
I was going to cause Rennie Harlan.

1721
01:16:19.800 --> 01:16:24.720
Yeah, and it was ninety six ninety six. This is

1722
01:16:24.760 --> 01:16:26.840
post cutthroat Island too well.

1723
01:16:26.720 --> 01:16:28.399
Because it wouldn't be one hundred because that was like

1724
01:16:28.560 --> 01:16:30.399
terminator too money at that time.

1725
01:16:30.520 --> 01:16:38.640
Nine hundred So fifty five close, sixty five million dollars

1726
01:16:38.760 --> 01:16:43.880
budget opening weekend, which was October thirteenth of nineteen ninety six.

1727
01:16:44.680 --> 01:16:45.359
Fair enough.

1728
01:16:45.880 --> 01:16:49.439
It makes nine million, sixty five or nine million, sixty

1729
01:16:49.479 --> 01:16:52.720
five thousand, three hundred and sixty three dollars. It grosses

1730
01:16:52.720 --> 01:16:56.159
in US and Canada thirty three million, grossing worldwide eighty

1731
01:16:56.239 --> 01:17:00.279
nine million. Okay, so modest, modest success. Shane Black became

1732
01:17:00.279 --> 01:17:02.640
the first writer to sell a script for four million dollars.

1733
01:17:02.640 --> 01:17:04.960
He later admitted that this caused a lot of envy

1734
01:17:05.000 --> 01:17:08.239
among his fellow screenwriters, as well as accusations of commercialism.

1735
01:17:08.479 --> 01:17:11.359
He voluntarily retired from the blockbuster industry for almost a

1736
01:17:11.399 --> 01:17:12.720
decade as a result.

1737
01:17:13.039 --> 01:17:14.720
Well, you know, it's not that hard to do when

1738
01:17:14.760 --> 01:17:16.399
you just got to check for four million dollars.

1739
01:17:16.520 --> 01:17:19.039
Yeah, screenwriter Shane Black sold the script for the movie

1740
01:17:19.039 --> 01:17:21.239
with the intention of Rennie Harland directing it and Geena

1741
01:17:21.279 --> 01:17:23.520
Davis starring in it. Harlan then told him he and

1742
01:17:23.560 --> 01:17:26.159
Davis were contractually bound to make Cutthroat Island in nineteen

1743
01:17:26.239 --> 01:17:29.000
ninety five first, which became one of the biggest box

1744
01:17:29.039 --> 01:17:31.840
office bombs of all time. Black later stated that this

1745
01:17:31.960 --> 01:17:34.520
may have caused bad advertisements that worked against the film

1746
01:17:34.520 --> 01:17:34.920
as well.

1747
01:17:35.199 --> 01:17:37.239
Yeah. I feel like it. I would have imagined it

1748
01:17:37.239 --> 01:17:38.920
would do better, but then again, I mean, you just

1749
01:17:38.960 --> 01:17:39.359
never know.

1750
01:17:39.560 --> 01:17:42.319
Yeah. The plot is loosely inspired by the Robert Ludlam

1751
01:17:42.359 --> 01:17:44.479
novel The Boorne Identity, which was made into a movie

1752
01:17:44.479 --> 01:17:46.399
of its own a few years later. A spy who

1753
01:17:46.479 --> 01:17:49.479
hunts terrorists, gets shot, almost drowns, wakes up with amnesia,

1754
01:17:49.520 --> 01:17:51.720
and uses clues to patch together their past links to

1755
01:17:51.720 --> 01:17:54.520
a shadowy government agency. Brian Cox, by the way, appears

1756
01:17:54.560 --> 01:17:57.439
in both films. Hey He Does Yeah. The film is

1757
01:17:57.479 --> 01:17:59.600
famous for being one of three big budget films that

1758
01:17:59.640 --> 01:18:01.920
came out the indie studio New Line Cinema in nineteen

1759
01:18:01.960 --> 01:18:04.640
ninety six and underperformed. The other two were The Island

1760
01:18:04.680 --> 01:18:07.560
of Doctor Burreau and Last Man Standing.

1761
01:18:07.920 --> 01:18:09.399
Oh Man okay.

1762
01:18:10.039 --> 01:18:12.720
Up until their release is Newline Cinema had specialized in

1763
01:18:12.760 --> 01:18:15.199
low to medium budgeted genre pictures.

1764
01:18:15.439 --> 01:18:17.960
Yeah, that's yeah, those are big movies for the Newline

1765
01:18:17.960 --> 01:18:18.399
at that time.

1766
01:18:18.479 --> 01:18:20.680
Samuel L. Jackson said in a GQ interview that he

1767
01:18:20.760 --> 01:18:22.560
read the script and really wanted the role, but the

1768
01:18:22.560 --> 01:18:25.079
studio said it was written as a white character. Jackson

1769
01:18:25.119 --> 01:18:27.359
then met Gina and Rennie at a Christmas party and

1770
01:18:27.399 --> 01:18:29.239
he told them he loved the script and wanted the role,

1771
01:18:29.279 --> 01:18:30.880
and Rennie said, you want to be in my film,

1772
01:18:30.920 --> 01:18:31.960
that you've got it, and.

1773
01:18:31.880 --> 01:18:32.399
That was that.

1774
01:18:32.720 --> 01:18:34.119
Hey, Rennie's not a dope.

1775
01:18:34.359 --> 01:18:36.680
On The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon in twenty fourteen,

1776
01:18:37.920 --> 01:18:41.520
Jimmy Fallon in twenty nineteen, Samuel Jackson listed Mitch as

1777
01:18:41.560 --> 01:18:42.279
his favorite role.

1778
01:18:43.279 --> 01:18:45.840
I could see that, yeah, although I don't know. His

1779
01:18:45.960 --> 01:18:48.239
character in Jackie Brown was pretty great too, pretty great.

1780
01:18:48.319 --> 01:18:51.680
But Mitch has a lot of redeeming qualities too. I

1781
01:18:51.720 --> 01:18:52.399
really like him.

1782
01:18:52.560 --> 01:18:55.880
Gina Davis and then husband director Rennie Harlan checked how

1783
01:18:55.920 --> 01:18:57.920
long she could hold her breath in their bathtub to

1784
01:18:57.960 --> 01:19:00.600
prepare for the water torture scene.

1785
01:19:00.720 --> 01:19:03.560
Well, you know, the weeks are long. You get bored

1786
01:19:03.760 --> 01:19:04.119
why not.

1787
01:19:04.840 --> 01:19:06.840
At one point in The Long Kiss good Night, Jackson's

1788
01:19:06.880 --> 01:19:10.000
character Mitch Hennessy and Geena davis amnesic spy Charlie, escape

1789
01:19:10.039 --> 01:19:12.239
from pursuers by jumping out of a window, firing a

1790
01:19:12.239 --> 01:19:14.000
machine gun at the ice below so the water can

1791
01:19:14.039 --> 01:19:17.399
cushion their fall. Jackson told host Jennifer Hudson that filming

1792
01:19:17.479 --> 01:19:19.960
the scene required the actors to actually be submerged in

1793
01:19:20.000 --> 01:19:23.520
freezing cold water again and again. It was negative thirty

1794
01:19:23.520 --> 01:19:25.760
seven degrees that day. Jackson were called. They cut a

1795
01:19:25.800 --> 01:19:27.399
hole in the ice and they put a hot tub

1796
01:19:27.439 --> 01:19:29.680
in it to make sure we didn't float away because

1797
01:19:29.720 --> 01:19:31.399
there was a current in the lake. They had to

1798
01:19:31.399 --> 01:19:33.840
break the ice because it would freeze over between shots

1799
01:19:33.840 --> 01:19:35.760
and we would get in. They told us to count

1800
01:19:35.800 --> 01:19:37.439
to five and we would come up. Then we would

1801
01:19:37.479 --> 01:19:39.880
crawl across the ice and they put us in the

1802
01:19:39.920 --> 01:19:42.760
hot tub while they looked at the replay. Unfortunately, the

1803
01:19:42.800 --> 01:19:45.640
initial replay wasn't good enough for director Rennie Harlan, who

1804
01:19:45.680 --> 01:19:47.920
was married to Davis at the time, so as if

1805
01:19:47.920 --> 01:19:50.840
the sub zero swimming wasn't hard enough, Jackson and Davis

1806
01:19:50.880 --> 01:19:53.479
had to perform the stunt repeatedly we did it like

1807
01:19:53.640 --> 01:19:56.800
five times, Jackson said, I have never felt anything like

1808
01:19:56.840 --> 01:19:58.600
that in my life. You know the headache you get

1809
01:19:58.600 --> 01:20:01.239
when you drink milk too fast, multiply that by twenty

1810
01:20:01.640 --> 01:20:03.960
oh lord, My brain was like, what are we doing.

1811
01:20:04.359 --> 01:20:07.000
Davis also happened to talk about the stunt recently during

1812
01:20:07.039 --> 01:20:09.000
an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden

1813
01:20:09.079 --> 01:20:12.439
last October. She said the actors only did three times,

1814
01:20:12.439 --> 01:20:14.720
but given the excruciating pain of the freezing water, it's

1815
01:20:14.800 --> 01:20:17.760
understanable that she and Jackson have slightly different memories of

1816
01:20:17.760 --> 01:20:19.920
that moment. It was like being hit in the head

1817
01:20:19.920 --> 01:20:22.960
with the sledgehammer, Davis said of the experience, I couldn't see, think,

1818
01:20:23.159 --> 01:20:23.520
or hear.

1819
01:20:24.119 --> 01:20:26.760
I can't even imagine that. That's insanity.

1820
01:20:26.840 --> 01:20:28.479
For the record, Gena Davis did her own stunts for

1821
01:20:28.520 --> 01:20:29.000
the film too.

1822
01:20:30.000 --> 01:20:32.279
Geez, yeah, that's nuts.

1823
01:20:33.600 --> 01:20:44.399
Do You Even? Movie will be right back. Welcome back

1824
01:20:44.439 --> 01:20:45.680
to Do You Even?

1825
01:20:45.800 --> 01:20:48.359
Movie.

1826
01:20:50.960 --> 01:20:53.680
One of the movie's original locations was a historic grand

1827
01:20:53.680 --> 01:20:57.720
hotel in Musaka, Ontario, the one hundred year old Windmere House.

1828
01:20:58.119 --> 01:21:01.359
During filming, however, the hotel fire and burned to the ground.

1829
01:21:01.439 --> 01:21:03.600
The heat from the film lights were initially blamed for

1830
01:21:03.680 --> 01:21:05.439
causing the blaze, but it was never proven that the

1831
01:21:05.520 --> 01:21:06.439
lights started the fire.

1832
01:21:07.720 --> 01:21:11.119
Wow, yeah, that's right, that's blame the film production.

1833
01:21:11.279 --> 01:21:14.640
Yeah, but the line, yes, it was very exciting. Tomorrow

1834
01:21:14.720 --> 01:21:17.159
we Go to the Zoo was recycled from Shane Black's

1835
01:21:17.159 --> 01:21:19.119
original script for The Last Boy Scout.

1836
01:21:19.439 --> 01:21:20.479
Oh I could see that.

1837
01:21:20.640 --> 01:21:23.279
Yeah. The ice skating scene were scripted to end with

1838
01:21:23.319 --> 01:21:27.039
Samantha performing a double axle flip and simultaneously firing over

1839
01:21:27.079 --> 01:21:31.560
her upside head. After two aerial rig configurations and sub

1840
01:21:31.680 --> 01:21:34.359
zero conditions and several attempts at green screening failed to

1841
01:21:34.399 --> 01:21:36.800
hold any convincing fluency to the actions, it was dropped

1842
01:21:36.800 --> 01:21:37.960
from the final cut of the film.

1843
01:21:38.000 --> 01:21:41.720
Where did they film this again? Was it because it

1844
01:21:41.760 --> 01:21:43.159
was insanely cold?

1845
01:21:43.239 --> 01:21:44.479
Yeah? It would have been Ontario.

1846
01:21:44.760 --> 01:21:45.960
Oh yeah, that makes sense.

1847
01:21:46.600 --> 01:21:49.319
Shane Black's original script was much darker for the film

1848
01:21:49.359 --> 01:21:51.359
and more graphic than the final film. Amongst the many

1849
01:21:51.359 --> 01:21:54.800
differences that included alternate action sequences, more violence like the

1850
01:21:54.800 --> 01:21:56.960
scene where Mitch and Charlie are captured and get tortured.

1851
01:21:57.239 --> 01:22:00.000
Both characters also had bigger backstories in the original script

1852
01:22:00.039 --> 01:22:01.760
to Mitch, at one point tells Charlie how he was

1853
01:22:01.800 --> 01:22:04.399
gang raped in prison, and how his wife refuses to

1854
01:22:04.479 --> 01:22:06.479
let him see his son because of what happened to him.

1855
01:22:06.760 --> 01:22:08.880
Charlie also had more of a dark backstory in the

1856
01:22:08.880 --> 01:22:10.239
script in the final film as well.

1857
01:22:10.840 --> 01:22:14.159
Yeah, she tends to pack it with the heavy stuff.

1858
01:22:14.399 --> 01:22:16.960
Then it gets and then it gets drawn back a little.

1859
01:22:16.720 --> 01:22:18.439
Bitah, I told you I read the original Last Boy

1860
01:22:18.439 --> 01:22:22.079
Scouts script. After reading that one, Yeah you did, dude, Jesus.

1861
01:22:22.560 --> 01:22:24.680
In the first draft of the screenplay, Mitch dies in

1862
01:22:24.720 --> 01:22:27.640
the from his bullet wounds. Test. Audiences liked his character

1863
01:22:27.640 --> 01:22:29.960
and performance so much that the ending was reshot letting

1864
01:22:30.039 --> 01:22:32.039
him live to save the day and redeem himself.

1865
01:22:32.279 --> 01:22:34.840
Oh wow, Yeah, I mean, because it is a pretty

1866
01:22:34.840 --> 01:22:35.439
happy ending.

1867
01:22:35.680 --> 01:22:38.159
Gina Davis was the first female actor to ever say

1868
01:22:38.319 --> 01:22:41.000
suck my dick in a movie in this film.

1869
01:22:42.359 --> 01:22:43.720
She was the first one to say it in a

1870
01:22:43.720 --> 01:22:46.760
movie in this film, WHOA.

1871
01:22:46.840 --> 01:22:49.520
In several scenes from the hotels, the mini bar contains vodka,

1872
01:22:49.560 --> 01:22:52.760
a Finnish brand Finlandia obviously plays there by Rennie Harlowe.

1873
01:22:52.760 --> 01:22:53.920
Oh he's finished.

1874
01:22:54.439 --> 01:22:57.239
During development, New Line Cinema considered turning the lead character

1875
01:22:57.279 --> 01:22:59.560
into a male Steven Sagall and Sylvester s Alone were

1876
01:22:59.560 --> 01:23:02.279
considered suitable choices. If the lead had gone that way,

1877
01:23:03.159 --> 01:23:06.600
wouldn't have worked. Craig Ferguson auditioned for the role of Timothy.

1878
01:23:07.039 --> 01:23:11.600
Oh my god, I could see it. Yeah, I don't

1879
01:23:11.640 --> 01:23:13.640
like it, but I can see it. Yeah. I like

1880
01:23:13.720 --> 01:23:15.000
Craig fergus I love Greg Versus.

1881
01:23:15.079 --> 01:23:17.359
This is the last page of Black's original nineteen ninety

1882
01:23:17.359 --> 01:23:19.359
four scripts stated there would be a sequel called The

1883
01:23:19.439 --> 01:23:22.600
Kiss After Lightning that never happened. While a possible sequel

1884
01:23:22.600 --> 01:23:24.319
was reportedly in the works in two thousand and seven,

1885
01:23:24.399 --> 01:23:27.319
no sequel has ever been produced. As of twenty twenty four.

1886
01:23:27.720 --> 01:23:31.720
Yeah, well, I mean I don't know that we need more. Yeah,

1887
01:23:31.760 --> 01:23:34.399
you know, I kind of like knowing that Samantha gets

1888
01:23:34.439 --> 01:23:35.720
to live her happy life.

1889
01:23:35.800 --> 01:23:38.119
Yeah, that'd be terrible if like they just Seege on

1890
01:23:38.119 --> 01:23:39.560
the farm, like that's the opening of them.

1891
01:23:39.680 --> 01:23:42.119
You mean, like what they did to Rambo and Commando.

1892
01:23:42.399 --> 01:23:45.680
I mean, I love I love the Rambo movies. Yeah,

1893
01:23:45.720 --> 01:23:49.680
but when they started adding Rambo movies after part four,

1894
01:23:50.600 --> 01:23:54.079
they his story ended so happy in four, yeah, with

1895
01:23:54.159 --> 01:23:55.359
him finally going home.

1896
01:23:55.399 --> 01:23:57.760
Well, not to mention how dark last blood I mean,

1897
01:23:58.159 --> 01:24:01.960
Last Blood was satis fine, but fuck yeah.

1898
01:24:02.039 --> 01:24:03.840
Yeah. That's all I'm saying is like that that was

1899
01:24:03.880 --> 01:24:05.800
the one where they were like, and we're gonna do more.

1900
01:24:05.920 --> 01:24:09.600
Yeah brutal. Yeah my god. So what are your final

1901
01:24:09.600 --> 01:24:12.359
thoughts on nineteen ninety six? Is The Long Kiss good Night?

1902
01:24:12.399 --> 01:24:15.399
It's one thousand percent to rent it. If you're an

1903
01:24:15.439 --> 01:24:18.399
action movie nineties movie nut, then you'd want to own

1904
01:24:18.479 --> 01:24:21.159
it for sure. But this is definitely a movie worth

1905
01:24:21.199 --> 01:24:24.319
plopping down your four ninety nine to watch an HD.

1906
01:24:25.199 --> 01:24:28.079
I couldn't recommend it enough and it's got just enough

1907
01:24:28.159 --> 01:24:31.399
Christmasy moments to make you feel a little bit festive.

1908
01:24:31.479 --> 01:24:34.000
Yeah, it's actually packed with Christmas surprisingly.

1909
01:24:33.600 --> 01:24:34.960
Yeah no, I'm well it takes place at.

1910
01:24:34.920 --> 01:24:37.439
Christmas can So it is also rented for me as well,

1911
01:24:37.479 --> 01:24:38.840
with a caveat to buy it if you are a

1912
01:24:38.840 --> 01:24:42.600
physical media collector or an action aficionado. This movie is

1913
01:24:42.600 --> 01:24:45.199
so much fun because you're not used to seeing Geena

1914
01:24:45.279 --> 01:24:47.359
Davis play these type of roles at all.

1915
01:24:47.640 --> 01:24:50.000
No, no, and she's perfect, perfect for it.

1916
01:24:50.079 --> 01:24:52.039
So, I mean, if you if you like a good

1917
01:24:52.159 --> 01:24:54.199
female badass, this is one of those movies if you're

1918
01:24:54.239 --> 01:24:56.399
looking for a Christmas action film, and you've watched Diehard

1919
01:24:56.520 --> 01:24:58.199
so many times, even though I was still watch it

1920
01:24:58.199 --> 01:25:00.760
every single year on December first, looking for something new.

1921
01:25:00.800 --> 01:25:02.560
This is a great one to fill that gap, and

1922
01:25:03.119 --> 01:25:05.600
you will probably have a good time with some friends

1923
01:25:05.600 --> 01:25:06.760
if you want to include them as well.

1924
01:25:06.920 --> 01:25:08.439
Yeah, I would have to agree, So yeah, it's a.

1925
01:25:08.439 --> 01:25:09.920
Runner for both of us. We always like to end

1926
01:25:09.920 --> 01:25:13.000
the show with a couple recommendations. I've got too this week,

1927
01:25:13.039 --> 01:25:15.640
the first one being Kiss, Kiss, Bang Bang, a shame

1928
01:25:15.680 --> 01:25:19.159
black screenplay from a direct directory Will Say or No,

1929
01:25:19.560 --> 01:25:20.680
I don't know if you do. I don't know. I

1930
01:25:20.680 --> 01:25:23.159
think not Joel Schumacher. Who did it? I can't remember

1931
01:25:23.159 --> 01:25:23.479
who did it?

1932
01:25:23.479 --> 01:25:24.479
But will you don't know?

1933
01:25:24.640 --> 01:25:26.520
My bad from two thousand and five. It is currently

1934
01:25:26.560 --> 01:25:29.039
available to rent on Primer Voodoo. It says, after being

1935
01:25:29.079 --> 01:25:31.119
mistaken for an actor, a New York thief is sent

1936
01:25:31.119 --> 01:25:33.359
to Hollywood to train under a private eye for a

1937
01:25:33.399 --> 01:25:35.640
potential movie role, but the duo are thrown together with

1938
01:25:35.640 --> 01:25:37.600
a struggling actress into a murder.

1939
01:25:37.319 --> 01:25:39.159
Mystery directed as well by Shameela Oh.

1940
01:25:39.079 --> 01:25:42.439
It is Shameluck directed. Okay, yeah. Second recommendation is nineteen

1941
01:25:42.479 --> 01:25:45.399
ninety six is a Racer with Arnold Schwarzenegger also available

1942
01:25:45.399 --> 01:25:48.319
to rent on Primer Voodoo, a witness protection specialist becomes

1943
01:25:48.319 --> 01:25:51.119
suspicious of his coworkers when dealing with a case involving

1944
01:25:51.199 --> 01:25:52.279
high tech weapons.

1945
01:25:52.399 --> 01:25:54.199
I do enjoy me, Summer Raser.

1946
01:25:54.319 --> 01:25:56.319
It's a good one. Yeah, definitely a good one. What's

1947
01:25:56.319 --> 01:25:57.079
your recommendation.

1948
01:25:57.239 --> 01:25:59.560
Well, I'm gonna go obvious. I'm not going to go

1949
01:25:59.600 --> 01:26:01.199
for a D cut. I'm going to go for something

1950
01:26:01.239 --> 01:26:04.199
you've probably seen, but maybe it's time for a revisit. Okay,

1951
01:26:04.279 --> 01:26:07.720
I'm going with nineteen eighty seven's Lethal Weapon, written by

1952
01:26:07.760 --> 01:26:11.119
Shane Black. Yes, and if you haven't seen Lethal Weapon,

1953
01:26:11.239 --> 01:26:16.800
I it is confusing to me. But the IMDb synopsis

1954
01:26:16.840 --> 01:26:20.399
is two newly paired cops who are complete opposites put

1955
01:26:20.399 --> 01:26:22.359
aside their differences in order to catch a gang of

1956
01:26:22.439 --> 01:26:25.119
drug smugglers. That's basically it, basically, but it's a lot

1957
01:26:25.159 --> 01:26:28.640
of fun. It's hilarious, and I'm sure you could find

1958
01:26:28.640 --> 01:26:29.680
it somewhere to watch.

1959
01:26:29.800 --> 01:26:31.680
Yeah, and Christmas to the tease.

1960
01:26:31.520 --> 01:26:33.079
That's what I'm saying. And it has Christmas in it

1961
01:26:33.239 --> 01:26:35.680
so it fits the season. It's got all. It's the

1962
01:26:36.000 --> 01:26:40.079
movie that introduced us to all the Shane blackisms in

1963
01:26:40.880 --> 01:26:43.840
action films. Yeah, so that's going to be my recommendation

1964
01:26:44.159 --> 01:26:44.920
lethal weapon.

1965
01:26:45.359 --> 01:26:47.159
And do we have any emails this week?

1966
01:26:47.319 --> 01:26:52.239
Maybe? Yeah, we do, We actually do. Okay, So this

1967
01:26:52.279 --> 01:26:55.359
first one is from our buddy Tyler Tyler who's probably

1968
01:26:55.359 --> 01:26:58.119
going to join us on movie night for Thanksgiving.

1969
01:26:58.159 --> 01:26:59.439
Hell yeah.

1970
01:26:59.720 --> 01:27:03.840
The subject line is suggestions. Hey boys, a thought occurs

1971
01:27:03.880 --> 01:27:08.680
to me. Have you guys considered covering any documentaries, animated films,

1972
01:27:08.800 --> 01:27:10.680
or even foreign films?

1973
01:27:11.039 --> 01:27:14.239
Animated is definitely a possibility. I don't know about documentary.

1974
01:27:14.520 --> 01:27:17.399
I don't think a doc documentary would really fit. But

1975
01:27:17.520 --> 01:27:19.199
we've done one foreign film.

1976
01:27:19.279 --> 01:27:19.960
Yeah, so far.

1977
01:27:20.119 --> 01:27:24.720
The Christmas just another Christmas, which is phenomenal on Netflix.

1978
01:27:24.800 --> 01:27:25.720
Watch it for the Love of.

1979
01:27:25.640 --> 01:27:27.199
God listener episode here is Cry.

1980
01:27:27.399 --> 01:27:32.159
Yeah yeah, it's good stuff. But documentaries, no animated. Maybe

1981
01:27:32.359 --> 01:27:34.279
I really want to revisit.

1982
01:27:33.880 --> 01:27:35.760
Cool World co World. I would be done.

1983
01:27:35.880 --> 01:27:39.119
When I was a kid, way too young, I was

1984
01:27:39.159 --> 01:27:41.800
watching it on Cinemax, so I'd love to watch it

1985
01:27:41.800 --> 01:27:44.600
as an adult and see if it's any good. So

1986
01:27:44.720 --> 01:27:46.880
I will be watching that. I think it hasn't come

1987
01:27:46.880 --> 01:27:47.239
out yet.

1988
01:27:47.239 --> 01:27:49.399
Has it hit Blu Ray last year?

1989
01:27:49.439 --> 01:27:51.560
I want to say oh, okay, Yeah, maybe Rachel has

1990
01:27:51.560 --> 01:27:52.000
a copy of that.

1991
01:27:52.039 --> 01:27:52.600
I think she might.

1992
01:27:53.159 --> 01:27:55.560
But yeah, so I would love to revisit that. There

1993
01:27:55.560 --> 01:27:57.840
aren't a ton of animated movies that I'm not into.

1994
01:27:57.920 --> 01:28:00.199
But I'm not opposed to animated and.

1995
01:28:00.279 --> 01:28:04.279
Foreign movies absolutely, It's just a matter of availability, which

1996
01:28:04.319 --> 01:28:05.680
I know is funny for me to say that, as

1997
01:28:05.800 --> 01:28:08.800
some of our movies haven't been available lately. But yeah,

1998
01:28:08.880 --> 01:28:12.199
no foreign films. I'm absolutely I'm into a huge category three,

1999
01:28:12.199 --> 01:28:13.640
which is Hong Kong movies right now. So yeah, I

2000
01:28:13.640 --> 01:28:15.239
would absolutely talk about foreign films.

2001
01:28:15.359 --> 01:28:18.079
Yeah, so I'm sure it'll come up eventually. Yeah, And

2002
01:28:18.119 --> 01:28:22.439
we are trying to keep the movies relatively relatively accessible,

2003
01:28:22.439 --> 01:28:24.359
although a lot of them end up not being readily

2004
01:28:24.359 --> 01:28:27.800
available to watch to fucking keep track anymore, Yeah, cry

2005
01:28:27.800 --> 01:28:30.079
about it. Oh man, this is a long one.

2006
01:28:30.159 --> 01:28:30.640
Okay.

2007
01:28:30.800 --> 01:28:35.760
This is from our viewer Daniel. The subject is Louis

2008
01:28:36.600 --> 01:28:40.039
in all caps with two exclamation points, and then Life

2009
01:28:40.039 --> 01:28:42.880
with Louis Louie. Louie is right at the stop at

2010
01:28:42.920 --> 01:28:45.840
the top cast he said, sorry, got caught in nineties nostalgia.

2011
01:28:46.079 --> 01:28:48.199
Great show Life with Louis. I loved Life with Louis

2012
01:28:48.199 --> 01:28:51.000
when I was a kid. Anyway, hope this reaches you

2013
01:28:51.039 --> 01:28:54.119
guys before you got you before you guys do the

2014
01:28:54.159 --> 01:28:57.880
episode before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately this came in on Saturday, so

2015
01:28:59.239 --> 01:29:03.720
not quite. We do the shows about a week out. Yeah, Louis,

2016
01:29:03.760 --> 01:29:06.680
I totally agree with you that Thanksgiving turkey is super dry.

2017
01:29:07.159 --> 01:29:12.720
Not a fan. I'm just saying when my cousin makes it,

2018
01:29:12.720 --> 01:29:16.920
it is unbelievably moist all the way through. But also,

2019
01:29:17.199 --> 01:29:19.039
you're a fool if you're into the white meat. Anyway,

2020
01:29:19.119 --> 01:29:23.039
That's fair. People call me weird because I love Deli

2021
01:29:23.079 --> 01:29:26.279
turkey but don't like Thanksgiving turkey. I also don't like

2022
01:29:26.359 --> 01:29:30.560
Deli ham, but love bone in hamir. That part I

2023
01:29:30.560 --> 01:29:32.520
do find weird because I like both types of ham.

2024
01:29:33.239 --> 01:29:35.960
To me, cold cut turkey is just so different from

2025
01:29:36.119 --> 01:29:38.800
absolutely roasted turkey. I hope you guys have a wonderful

2026
01:29:38.800 --> 01:29:42.159
and joyous Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for both of you guys

2027
01:29:42.159 --> 01:29:43.920
that get me through a lot of my work days

2028
01:29:43.960 --> 01:29:47.279
with both podcasts, do you even movie and Weekly Spooky Awesome?

2029
01:29:47.399 --> 01:29:49.960
Thank you, we appreciate it. Thank you for all you

2030
01:29:50.000 --> 01:29:52.319
do to keep us entertained and giving, at least some

2031
01:29:52.359 --> 01:29:56.000
of us new experiences in the movies you suggest and review.

2032
01:29:56.239 --> 01:29:57.840
That's awesome, happy to do it.

2033
01:29:59.079 --> 01:30:01.479
Dave's not doesn't thank you, but I do.

2034
01:30:01.680 --> 01:30:03.600
I thank you my apologies.

2035
01:30:03.880 --> 01:30:08.680
Yeah. Sure, So with that all being said, yes, sir,

2036

2046
01:30:33.000 --> 01:30:35.640
rating on Apple Podcasts please Spotify. So what are we

2047
01:30:35.720 --> 01:30:37.319
watching next week? David?

2048
01:30:37.439 --> 01:30:39.680
So, next week we are diving into I think a

2049
01:30:39.800 --> 01:30:42.239
quintessential film of our friendship, because I think this was

2050
01:30:42.239 --> 01:30:43.640
one where it was just like you like.

2051
01:30:43.600 --> 01:30:46.279
This, I love this, Oh man, I've always loved this movie.

2052
01:30:46.319 --> 01:30:49.600
We're talking about nineteen ninety four's The Ref starring Dennis Leary,

2053
01:30:49.680 --> 01:30:53.279
Kevin Spacey, Judy Davis, J. Simmons. I mean, the list

2054
01:30:53.359 --> 01:30:54.279
goes on and on for that one.

2055
01:30:54.600 --> 01:30:56.319
There's so many people, so many.

2056
01:30:56.399 --> 01:30:58.640
Yeah, that one is currently available to rent on Prime

2057
01:30:58.680 --> 01:31:02.039
and Fandango. I will say that if you, if you

2058
01:31:02.079 --> 01:31:04.960
are a physical media collector, just buy the DVD because

2059
01:31:04.960 --> 01:31:07.159
with it being a Disney title, technically there's no telling

2060
01:31:07.199 --> 01:31:08.319
them we're gonna get a blue Red.

2061
01:31:08.359 --> 01:31:10.439
I mean, one year it was on Netflix, one year

2062
01:31:10.479 --> 01:31:13.960
it was on Disney Plus. It bounces around like crazy,

2063
01:31:14.039 --> 01:31:17.359
it does. I bought it the HD version on Voodoo

2064
01:31:17.399 --> 01:31:19.840
Doo Yeah, which is now Fandango at Home.

2065
01:31:19.760 --> 01:31:20.720
Or Go at Home. Yeah.

2066
01:31:20.800 --> 01:31:23.000
So, but yeah, it'll be the ref from nineteen ninety

2067
01:31:23.039 --> 01:31:26.479
four starring Dennis Leary, and that movie is a screen.

2068
01:31:26.399 --> 01:31:29.199
And I do do want to remind everybody that the

2069
01:31:29.239 --> 01:31:32.720
Long Kiss good Night was a recommendation from our buddy Maurice,

2070
01:31:32.760 --> 01:31:34.960
which just goes to prove again that if you have

2071
01:31:35.000 --> 01:31:36.760
a movie you want us to do, send us an email.

2072
01:31:36.760 --> 01:31:38.640
We would love to hear from you and think and

2073
01:31:39.119 --> 01:31:41.000
hear what your thoughts are on what we should talk about.

2074
01:31:41.159 --> 01:31:42.439
You never know what might happen.

2075
01:31:42.520 --> 01:31:43.039
You never know.

2076
01:31:43.439 --> 01:31:44.960
All right, my friends, Well it's time for me to

2077
01:31:44.960 --> 01:31:48.079
get out of here so I can go Inhale fumes

2078
01:31:48.119 --> 01:31:49.760
to get the rest of this new kiss out of

2079
01:31:49.760 --> 01:31:52.239
my head. Fair, I am not fully recovered from my cold.

2080
01:31:52.279 --> 01:31:54.920
Get I am ready to not talk anymore, which is

2081
01:31:54.960 --> 01:31:57.119
a shock to most people. They would assume that me

2082
01:31:57.199 --> 01:32:00.359
being unable to talk is fatal. But uh yeah, so

2083
01:32:00.399 --> 01:32:02.960
we're gonna get out of here, so everybody stay safe

2084
01:32:02.960 --> 01:32:06.239
out there, and uh chefs do that.

2085
01:32:07.239 --> 01:32:08.560
Signing off the podcast

2086
01:32:10.319 --> 01:32:12.119
See you next Tuesday.
